Package Integrity Indicating Closure

Abstract

There is provided a releasable closure (11) having a pack integrity member. The closure includes a two-layer material having an inner film layer (12) and an outer film layer (13) forming a cover (14) for the container. The outer film layer has a sealing plate (26) which completely covers a first plate (22) and a second plate (42) in the inner film layer. The sealing plate is permanently attached to the first plate and is releasably attached to a portion of the inner film layer around the circumference of the first plate to form an opening in the cover when the sealing plate with the attached first plate is peeled back from the cover. The sealing plate is detachable against the cover to seal the opening when the sealing plate is moved back towards the cover.
