Power station using ocean currents

The invention relates to an offshore power plant. Here it is not just about a well-known tidal power plant that harnesses the energy of floods and shorelines, but about a power plant that extracts the energy of the ocean currents that are always on all seas.

The invention proposes to design an offshore power plant which extracts the flow energy of the ocean currents and converts the energy extracted into electrical energy. The ocean current power plant of the invention is placed here below the sea surface, for example more than 50 m below the sea surface and can also then provide a relatively large performance when the flow rate of the sea current is relatively small, for example in the range of 1.5 m / s or less. This is achieved by the hydroelectric power plant having a water wheel or a rotor (turbine or propeller) extending over a diameter of, for example, 10 m or more, preferably between 30 m and 120 m.
