Abstract
An electronic label (10) containing magnetic sensors (18) is provided which can detect changes in magnetic fields in order to program the label (10). Typically, the label (10) contains microprocessor-based circuits (14) with memory (20), these microprocessor-based circuits (14) providing programmable response to activation of the magnetic sensors (18). The label (10) further includes transmitting equipment (12) coupled to the microprocessor based circuits (14) and operating specifically to transmit data from the microprocessor based circuits (14). Accordingly, the microprocessor based circuits (14) may include a microcontroller having one of its input ports connected to the contact of the magnetic sensor (18), typically a reed switch or the like to feed the data into the microcontroller.
