Data-processing device and data-processing method

The present technology relates to a data-processing device and a data-processing method with which it is possible to enhance the extensibility of the functions of a device on the receiving side. A data-processing device of a preceding stage: processes notification data to be conveyed to a data-processing device of a subsequent stage that performs the process of the subsequent stage in a demodulation process, the data to be conveyed being part of data obtained by receiving a digital broadcast signal and subjecting the digital broadcast signal to the modulation process; converts the data to be conveyed to a format transmittable together with received data obtained from the digital broadcast signal; and outputs the conveyed data together with the received data to the processing device of the subsequent stage. The present technique can be applied, for example, to a system comprising a demodulation device and a system-on-chip.
