THE PERSONAL CARE THAT MULTIPLE ZOM * S-AMOfcPABLE HAVE € ·
TECHNICAL FIELD
The present description generally refers to articles for personal care.
BACKGROUND
Cleaning the skin and / or hair is an activity that has been carried out for many years. Over time, cleansing of the skin and hair has included the use of compositions such as bar and liquid soaps, liquid body soaps, shampoos, conditioners, and the like. In these compositions, consumers want good cleaning properties and foaming characteristics, softness to the skin and the ability to deliver beneficial agents to the surface being treated.
To enhance the consumer experience, these cleaning compositions can also be combined with implements, such as a washcloth, sponge, or bean bag. For example, many consumers dose liquid soaps or liquid body washes on a bean bag, and then clean themselves by applying the pad to their skin and / or hair. Similarly, many consumers scrub bar soaps with a washcloth, and then clean themselves by applying the washcloth to their skin and / or hair.
Although a consumer's experience with a cleaning composition can be enhanced by combining the cleaning composition with an implement, to date, ϊ

<img file="MX355294B_D0007.tif" />
This experience has not been totally ideal. For example, combining eáiaé-compásicic cleaning with an implement tends to clutter up the shower or the baoQ ^ finrqiie-e needs to transport or store bulky cleaning products bottles, rods, pots and / or tubes and the implements for these. Additionally, the combination requires the user to perform additional steps to apply the liquid body soap or soap to the implement, and then rub or rub the implement onto the skin rather than applying the liquid body soap and / or the soap directly. As such, it tends to consume more water, which increases waste and the environmental impact produced by the consumer. And, furthermore, it may be difficult for certain personal hygiene compositions, such as bar soaps, to provide the consumer with the desired deposit of beneficial agents, even when combined with an implement.
Some attempts have been made to combine an implement with a personal cleansing composition in a personal care item. However, these executions did not turn out to be ideal. For example, such an item included a rigid bar soap along with an implement. The rigidity of this type of execution does not conform to the surface to which it is applied, which makes it difficult to thoroughly clean the surface being treated. Some other attempts at a more compliant product did not provide the desired reuse capacity and tended to create additional waste. In particular, these cleaning articles tend to lack durability and / or include cleaning compositions that dissolve completely after very few uses.
Accordingly, it would be desirable to provide a personal care article that has a compliant personal care product that can have desirable cleansing properties, that includes adequate rinsing and foaming characteristics, that can mold to skin and / or hair. , that can be

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
A personal care article comprises a moldable personal care product and a first water permeable substrate. The moldable personal care product comprises two or more moldable personal care compositions. Each of the two or more personal care compositions define one or more zones. Each moldable personal care composition is physically contacted with at least one of the moldable personal care compositions. The first water-permeable substrate is adjacent to the moldable personal care product. The moldable personal care product is greater than about 3,500% by weight of the total substrate.
A personal care article comprises a moldable personal care product and a first water permeable substrate. The moldable personal care product comprises a first moldable composition for personal care and a second moldable composition for personal care. Each of the first moldable personal care composition and the second moldable personal care composition define one or more zones. The first moldable composition for personal care and the second moldable composition for personal care are in physical contact with each other. The release of the moldable personal care product is carried out in each zone. The first water-permeable substrate envelops, substantially, the adaptable personal care product. The product

II. Personal care items
Personal care items can come in many forms. One of the most common forms is bar soap. Bar soap can
IMPIOS
INSTITUTO mEXíCac'C. ·
Dti LA! t> L> or ox :. \ l '·' · ....
be generally not moldy and rigid. The stiffness of most bar soaps can make them difficult to grip, making it more difficult to use during cleaning. Rigid bar soaps can also have the disadvantage that only the surface that comes in direct contact with the skin can be used for cleaning, and this surface area can be limited by the non-moldable nature of the bar. Conventional rigid bar soap can have a molding value of approximately 2.5 kg / mm or greater.
Insoluble components in stick compositions can contribute to stick stiffness. By using moldable articles, compositions and / or products a need for stiffness can be avoided and can frequently result in removal of insoluble components resulting in faster dissolution of the composition. And since you want to have a composition that provides sufficient cleaning properties during a cleaning event (i.e. dissolves well enough to release surfactant), there should be a balance between such cleaning properties and product longevity. In any other way, the personal care product can be consumed, totally, in only one or several events and the product can be quite expensive and pollute the environment.
How quickly an item, composition, and / or product can be used by a consumer can be measured by its rate of consumption, the method of which is described below. Substrates can be used to control the rate of consumption. Thus, when the compositions dissolve rapidly, substrates can be used to increase the rate of consumption to a desirable level, such as that of a typical bar soap. In certain examples, a substrate can act as a water flow limiting substrate to effectively increase the rate of consumption. In certain examples, the water flow of the substrate can be manipulated by the chemical or physical texture of the substrate. For example, the substrate may
IΜ ΡI
MEXICAN INSTITUTE> ', · * ·
DK LA ΡΛΟΗΗίΑΟ X. '··· contain pores to allow more water to pass through. If a lesser amount of water is de'ééa pe pe ', the amount of pores can be reduced by the substrate or some pores can be sealed.
A personal care item may include a substrate and a personal care product. The personal care article may further comprise multiple substrates and / or multiple personal care compositions. The personal care article can further be used, for example, for skin cleansing, hair cleansing, shaving preparations, post-shave treatment, or a combination of these. In one example, the personal care article is a personal hygiene article. In certain examples, the personal care item may be reusable.
A personal care product may have adaptable characteristics. For example, if the personal care product is a personal cleansing composition for cleansing the skin, then the product will lean to some degree to be completely in contact with a curved portion of the body, such as an arm. Therefore, if the moldable personal cleansing composition is originally flat and curved, when applied to a cleaning arm it will have a certain amount of flex to better conform to the arm. Similarly, if the shape of the product has a small amount of curve, when applied to the arm, the product will flex to some degree to more fully contact the arm. Conversely, if the original personal care product is curved so that it does not need to flex to form a curved surface like the arm, then it would flex to straighten when applied to a less curved surface such as an abdomen.
In certain examples, the elasticity of a personal care product can be measured according to the Elasticity Test described in more detail below. In certain examples, a personal care product may comprise a
IMPIOS
INSTITUTO MEXlCA.-.- 'J 3' · elasticity value of approximately 1.50 kg / mm or less. In ciettb & exerhptos, the value - '* of elasticity of the personal care product can be - japmximaekuiaQFito - ~ 1.35 kg / mm or less; approximately 1.25 kg / mm or less; about 1.2 kg / mm or less; about 1.1 kg / mm or less; or about 1.0 kg / mm or less.
In certain examples, the personal care product may have an elasticity of from about 0.01 kg / mm to about 1.50 kg / mm; from about 0.03 kg / mm to about 1.50 kg / mm; from about 0.05 kg / mm to about 1.25 kg / mm; from about 0.05 kg / mm to about 1.15 kg / mm; and / or about 0.10 kg / mm to about 1.1 kg / mm.
In some examples, the article, composition, and / or product may become moldable after exposure to water. Accordingly, there may be an unmouldable article, composition, or product that, after exposure to a liquid such as water, becomes moldable during an event of use. IF an item, composition, or product becomes compliant at the end of a second use event, then it is considered compliant.
A personal care item will have a consumption rate. The consumption index is a measure of the amount of composition used during a usage event. A method of measuring the item's consumption rate is described in detail below. In one example, a personal care item may have a consumption rate of about 20g / use or less. In certain examples, a personal care item may have a consumption rate of approximately 15 g / use or less. In certain examples, a personal care item can have a consumption rate of about 1.5 g / use to about 15 g / use; from about 2.5 g / use to about 10 g / use; and / or from about 3.5 g / use to about 6.5 g / use.

In certain examples, two or more zones can be arranged in an alternate configuration, so that none of the zones that contain the same moldable personal care composition are contiguous. For example, a personal care article 310, 410, as illustrated in Figs. 6 a 7 and 9 may include a compliant personal care product 312, 412 having a first compliant personal care composition 314, 414 and a second personal care composition 315, 415. In addition, and as shown in FIG. . 9, each of the first and second personal care moldable compositions (414, 415) define multiple zones, and the first and second personal care moldable compositions (414, 415) are arranged in an alternate configuration. While the zones in Fig. 9 are described as alternate layers, in other examples, the two or more zones may take other shapes and sizes and be arranged in any variety of configurations including, for example, not having zones containing the same contourable personal care composition one from the other.
The personal care item may include, from about 0.5% to about 25,000% by weight of the total substrate (s), of a moldable personal care product. The personal care items can be in any suitable shape, for example oval, square, rectangular, circular, triangular, hourglass, hexagonal, letter c, etc.
Without wishing to be bound by theory, and as discussed above, it is believed that a personal care item can eliminate the problems associated with reuse, waste, consumption, foam, dissolution, and conformity or molding. As described in the present disclosure, it was discovered that the use of a personal care product can improve the longevity of a personal care article so that the personal care article can be used for a number of use events and can shape or imitate a shape of the surface to which the personal care product is applied. In addition, it was found that any personal care product can be combined with a water insoluble substrate made from particular materials to control the flow of water, thereby dissolving and consuming the personal care product increases the longevity of the product. personal care item without sacrificing foam or other properties desired by consumers of these.

Substrates
A personal care article can comprise at least one substrate. The substrate can enhance the therapeutic and cleansing treatment of a surface, such as skin and / or hair. For example, by physically coming into contact with skin and / or hair, the substrate can assist in cleaning and removing dirt, makeup, dead skin, and other debris, so that the substrate can act as a foaming implement and / or or effective exfoliant, but it can also be non-abrasive to the skin. A substrate can be a composite (that is, the substrate has multiple sheets that can be of the same or different materials). In one example, the substrate can be insoluble in water. In other examples, the substrate may be water permeable. However, in certain examples, the personal care article may comprise water permeable substrates and water insoluble substrates.
In certain examples, a substrate may at least comprise a moldable personal care product. In other examples, a substrate may fully comprise a moldable personal care product. A substrate may be in the form of a pouch, pocket, wrap, or any other suitable configuration to maintain a moldable personal care product.
As discussed above, the substrate can be water permeable. When penetrable by water, the substrate can have a water flow rate. The flow of water can be used to limit the wetting of the personal care product that is included in the personal care article, thus controlling the foam, dissolution and / or consumption of the composition that is included in the article. for personal care. Without wishing to be bound by theory, the first substrate can manage or limit the rate of water flow to provide controlled wetting and extend the life of a personal care product while activating a

sufficient wetting to provide, for example, adequate foam.one JIn all examples, the flow rate of the water may be approximately 0.1 cm ^ etv ^ ityr about 200 cm3/ cm2/ s, about 0.4 cm3/ cm2/ s at about 120 cm3/ cm2/ s, about 20cm3/ cm2/ s at about 100 cm3/ cm2/ s, or any combination of these, as measured by the water flow index test described below. The ability to control the rate of water flow can allow for adjustment so that personal care product, such as a cleaning composition, can be reused and thus last a number of showers, baths or cleaning experiences while still displaying foaming characteristics desired by consumers. In certain examples, there may be a water flow differential between substrates. In certain examples, the flux differential between substrates can be at least about 2.5 cm3/ cm2/ s; about 3.0 cm3/ cm2/ s or more; or about 4.0 cm3/ cm2/ s or more.
In certain examples, the substrate can be a non-woven fabric (i.e., a natural or synthetic non-woven fabric that includes fibrous or non-fibrous non-woven fabrics), which can typically have flat part regions (i.e., regions that do not allow the passage of water and / or personal care product) and openings; a tissue; a movie (eg, a formed movie); a sponge, which may include a natural and / or synthetic sponge (eg. eg, a polymeric mesh sponge), examples of which may include those described in European patent application no. EP 702550A1 published March 27, 1996; a polymeric crosslinked mesh (ie, a "gauze"), the examples of which may include those described in US Pat. USA no. 4,636,419; a wadding spunbond; spunlace; cohesive by jet of water; carded; punching; or any other suitable material. In certain examples, the substrate may be a composite material which may include, for example, one or more sheets of the same or different materials, such as non-woven fabrics, woven fabrics,

INDUSTRIAL '' '- • A.Ü— continuously (eg, laminated, etc.) in a discontinuous pattern or by bonding to the outer edges (or periphery) of the substrate and / or at different locations. Suitable examples for each type of substrate and other suitable substrate materials are described in US Provisional Application. USA no. Serial No. 61 / 523,824 and US Patent Application. USA no. Serial No. 13 / 438,918, which are incorporated herein by reference.
Parameters to consider when selecting substrates (eg, formed films) may include thickness, configuration, polymer stiffness, and permeability. Additional information on such parameters is further described in the US provisional application. USA no. Serial No. 61 / 523,824 and US Patent Application. USA no. serial 13 / 438,918.
A substrate can include one or more openings so that water, personal care product and / or foam, for example, can pass through the substrate. In one example, where a permeable substrate can be adjacent to the personal care product, water can pass through the water permeable substrate to interact with the personal care product. When the personal care product dissolves, it can then pass through the substrate to deliver to a target surface (eg, skin).
In one example, the permeability of the openings can be selected based on a half-dissolution period of dissolution of a personal care product and a desired reusability of the article. For example, when the dissolution half-life of the personal care product is longer, a higher level of permeability can be selected to counteract the half-life of dissolution and provide a desired consumption rate of the item.

Alternatively, when the half-life of personal prod0btO $ fOl eulcLádÓ ^ is low, the permeability of one or more openings may be even lower / still provide a desired consumption rate for the item. In certain examples, a substrate can include a permeability of about 1 aperture / cm2 or greater, about 10 openings / cm2 or greater, about 100 openings / cm2 or greater, approximately 500 openings / cm2 or greater, about 1000 openings / cm2 or greater, about 1500 openings / cm2 or greater, or any combination of these.
The openings may or may not have perforations, or a combination of these For example, one or more openings may Include well-defined openings such as micro-openings or macro-openings, voids, perforations, cavities, raised or depressed fibers, and / or non-fibrous screeds, hollows between screeds, and the like, which may, for example, allow water and / or personal care product to pass through the substrate.
A substrate can be a contact substrate, which can be a substrate for contacting a target surface (eg, skin). A substrate may further be a contactless substrate. Non-contact substrates can be used, for example, to help impart the desired properties of consumption rate, softness, foam, etc. to a personal care item.
In certain examples, a substrate may require sufficient tensile strength to effectively fulfill a desired function. For example, a contact substrate may require greater tensile strength than a non-contact substrate, because the contact substrate may be in contact with a treated surface. In one example, a substrate can provide a maximum tensile strength of approximately 0.098 N / mm (10 g / mm) wide or greater, approximately 0.29 N / mm

(30 g / mm) (width) or greater, approximately 0.59 N / mm (60 g / mm) (width) or greater, or approximately 1.96 N / mm (200 g / mm) (width) or greater ~ and a stiffness of approximately 0.0098 N / mm (1 g / mm) (wide) or greater, approximately 0.019 N / mm (2 g / mm) (wide) or greater, approximately 0.069 N / mm (7 g / mm ) (wide) or greater, approximately 0.19 N / mm (20 g / mm) (wide) or greater, approximately 0.78 N / mm (80 g / mm) (wide) or greater, as measured by the stress test described below.
The substrate can further provide a variety of textures. Textured substrates can be used for contact substrates and non-contact substrates. In certain examples, the item may have a different texture on each of its sides. For example, the article may include a gripping side and a substrate application side. In one example, the grip side may include a texture that is the same as that of the substrate application side. In another example, the gripping side may include a texture that is different from that of the substrate application side.
In one example, a personal care item may comprise more than one substrate. In one example, a personal care item may comprise more than one contact substrate. A combination of contact substrates can be used, for example, to give different properties to different sides of an article. In one example, a first water insoluble substrate may be a contact substrate that facilitates grip, and a second water insoluble substrate may be a contact substrate in another part of the article selected for its application properties. In one example, the personal care article may have an exfoliating contact substrate on one side of the personal care article and a relaxing contact substrate on the other side.

In one example, the first and second ins ^ uhbaR ^ aUagita · substrates can be contact substrates, while the first and second water permeable substrates can be non-contact substrates. In one example, a non-contact substrate can be surrounded, at least partially, by at least one contact substrate. In one example, two non-contact substrates can be surrounded by two contact substrates. Furthermore, a personal care product can comprise a first side and a second side, so that the first water-permeable substrate can be adjacent to one side of the personal care product, a second water-permeable substrate can be adjacent to the other side of the personal care product, a first water insoluble substrate may be adjacent to the first water permeable substrate, and a second water-insoluble substrate may be adjacent to the second water-permeable substrate. The additional contact and non-contact substrates may further envelop other substrates and / or a personal care product.
A combination of substrates can be used not only to provide different properties of experience of use, as an exfoliant compared to relaxing, but the combination of the substrates can also be used to give other desirable properties of a personal care article, such as index of consumption and suitable foaming properties. When combining substrates to form an article, the properties of the personal care product must be considered in addition to the individual properties of the substrate to result in the personal care article with the desired properties. In one example, a personal care product can be wrapped by two non-contact substrates, which can be wrapped by two contact substrates. In certain examples, the two non-contact substrates can be the same. In certain examples, the two substrates of

INDUSTRIAL contact can be the same. Furthermore, and as described in the present description, to provide a desirable consumption index of an article for personal care, a substrate that has a level of permeability can be selected to counteract with a personal care product that has a high dissolution half-life, and a substrate that has a low level of permeability can be selected to counter a care product personnel who have a low half-life. Thus, in certain examples, different substrates can be selected for each zone so that the different zones can have similar consumption rates and the personal care article as a whole can be consumed at an effective rate.
B._Compositions for personal care
A personal care article may comprise a substrate and a personal care moldable product, and the personal care moldable product may comprise one or more personal care moldable compositions.
A personal care composition can be a rinse-off composition (eg, a cleanser) or a non-rinse-to-use composition (eg, a humectant).
As described above, in certain examples, the personal care article may comprise a moldable personal care product, which may comprise two or more moldable personal care compositions and a first water permeable substrate. Procedures
A._Water flow index test
The water flow index test can measure the water permeability of a substrate. Without intending to be bound by theory, water permeability may be a major determinant of surfactant life in a foaming substrate that is used in the presence of water, especially running water. When a surfactant is present, it may be desirable for it to foam quickly and profusely, but to be fully depleted at a time intended to indicate that the used substrate may be discarded. If the flow rate of the water is very low (eg, zero or nearly zero), insufficient wetting of the surfactant contained in the substrate can cause the foam to start very slowly. On the other hand, if the water flow rate is too high, the surfactant can be washed too easily from the substrate, and a cleaning composition that includes a surfactant will not last long enough.
In order to determine the rate of water flow, tape or rubber bands are used to attach a substrate to the bottom of a plastic funnel with the following 34 ¡Kstitutomsxio.no / .; ••• Ά / τí - * .. sd L> 1 LA!>: · ·· '!' '·· ·' .'yy measurements: an internal diameter (d.¡.) Of 24 mm in an outlet, a d. 145 rflrVr · entina "upper part, a height of 135 mm (from the top to ef-mteto-tteTin wettojfüTr neck 20 mm in length and a total volume of approximately 600 ml. Sufficient tension is applied to the substrate to ensure that it is completely flat, without applying it excessively. Tape or rubber bands are attached as close as possible to the funnel outlet to prevent backflow under water pressure. The funnel is then held in an annular holder over a sink. 600 ml of water at room temperature is measured in a test tube. Then, with one hand, the outlet of the funnel is blocked, the test substrate is pushed, and the water is quickly poured into the funnel. When the funnel is completely full, the hand is removed and the drain time, which is the time it takes for the water to exit the funnel, to the nearest tenth of a second is measured. The stopwatch stops when the water reaches the intersection of the neck and the sloping portion of the funnel. This process is repeated 5 times per test substrate, and the measurements are averaged for each substrate.
Substrates that exhibit long drain times (i.e., approximately 10 minutes or longer) can be tested by weighing the drained water over a set period of time (eg, 5 minutes) with a funnel filled with water and then using the Algebraic determination of the flow time of 600 ml of water. Thereafter, the flow rate of water in the opposite direction of the substrate is determined (unless the substrate is the same in both directions), and both results are averaged. For substrates with high surface tension relative to water and small pores (i.e., it is observed that the flow is Increased significantly with a small amount of added surfactant) a small, but sufficient amount of wetting agent is added to the water (e.g. (Dawn ® Dishwashing Liquid), at least at a critical micellar concentration for water to flow through
IMPI ιντπήπό Mexican f> | · 'LA RWOPIEPAC INPUiTMAL of the substrate without the obstruction of wetting forces before the test. The water flow index is expressed in cm3/ cm2-s according to the equation: Water flow rate = (600 g of water) x (1 cm3/g)/((1.2 cm)2 x (average time in seconds)).
EL_Proof of consumption
A rotary drum (Lortone, Inc., Seattle, WA, USA model 33B or equivalent) with a 10.2 cylindrical rubber housing is used to measure the rate of consumption of a personal care item, composition, or product. cm in diameter by 10.2 cm in depth (4 inches in diameter by
4 inches deep) which has an Internal volume of 825 cc. The housing rotates on the drum at 43 rpm. A tap water supply is obtained with a water hardness of approximately 7.5 grains and a conductivity of 100 to not more than 400 mlcroSemens per centimeter (pS / cm), and it is placed in a glass with a receptacle at 45 ° C. The water supply is maintained at the indicated temperature within 1 degree for the duration of the test. 200.0 g of water is added from the receptacle to the housing.
An article, composition or product is weighed to obtain an Initial weight and the article, composition or product is added to the housing. The housing is sealed with its watertight lid, and the sealed housing is placed on the rotating drum for an exact time of 3 minutes. The housing is removed, the housing lid is removed, and the article, composition, or product is removed. The remaining water in the housing is stirred for a few seconds, and its conductivity and temperature are determined with a Mettler Toledo SevenMuItl meter with an InLab 740 probe or equivalent. The surface of the item, composition, or product is dried by pressing, not rubbing, by using a paper towel with gentle manual pressure for about 30 seconds, until it is dry to the touch and no longer transfers water

Visible to a dry paper towel using the same pressure on any of the points on its surface or edges. If the article, 3-product composition, partially transfers dissolved or to-be-dissolved components in addition to liquid water (eg, if a composition is a conventional bar soap can transfer pasty material), the transferred compounds are removed and the article , composition or product is considered dry when visual transfer is no longer evident. The item, composition or product is weighed.
The housing is emptied and rinsed with hot tap water and dried to complete one (1) cycle. The cycle is repeated with the same article 4 more times for a total of 5 cycles. The conductivity of the water container is determined at 30 ° C, 35 ° C, 40 ° C, and 45 ° C.
With a new article of the same composition, a 1% solution is prepared by removing 1.00 grams of its soluble chemical composition and adding it to 99.00 grams of water from the container. The chemical composition is completely dissolved with stirring and heat as necessary. The conductivity of the 1% solution is determined at the same 4 temperatures. A 2% solution is prepared in the same way (2.00 grams of composition in 98.00 grams of water), and its conductivity is determined at the same 4 temperatures. The conductivity results are compared to the temperature for each solution (0%, 1% and 2%) and algebraic expressions are obtained for each one.
For each conductivity-temperature data for water in the housing obtained during each cycle, the regression for conductivity in 0%, 1% and 2% solutions is calculated at the temperature measured by the InLab 470 probe for each cycle. A second set of linear regressions is run for each temperature obtained in the cycles by using the solution concentrations (0%, 1%, 2%) as the y value (output) and the conductivity values analyzed by

OF THE «OI'ltOAD 'regression as x (entry). This second regression is used at the temperature obtained in each cycle with its pair of conductivity value of input x value / input value of x to obtain y, which is the amount of dissolved solids of the article for each cycle. Dissolved solids for the 5 cycles are added, and divided by 5 to obtain the average dissolved solids. The value is multiplied by 1.67 to obtain the article consumption index, which is based on the relationship between this method and the consumption during the use of articles in an average of showers ad libde consumers.
C._ Tension test of the substrate and the article
To measure the stiffness of a substrate and / or article, a tensile testing instrument is used with a TA-XT2Í texture analyzer (Texture Technologies Corp, NY United States) equipped with a load cell of at least 49.0 N (5 kg) and adjustable upper and lower jaws in environmental conditions. An instrument reference length (the closest distance between jaws) is set to 50 mm. 2.54 cm (1 inch) wide strips are cut from the personal care item or water insoluble substrate with a precision cutter in a machine direction (MD). (Note: The properties of an item can be measured by physically separating the personal care product from the item substrates and by cutting 1 inch wide strips of the personal care item with the composition of cleaning removed.) If the strips are too short, the reference length of the instrument is adjusted to accommodate the strips of the substrate, as the results are expressed in tension. Additionally, if the strips are too narrow, they are evaluated by arithmetically normalizing the results obtained to a width of 2.54 (1 inch).
The strips are attached to the jaws on the instrument and the instrument is programmed in pull mode to pull at a rate of 5 mm / s and measure grams

force, by using a 2.5 gram trigger to eat ^ áV'él recorded, for 20 seconds (100 mm). The errgram-force is then recorded using a t'énSfCFT of 10% (5 mm) and the recorded force is divided by 25.4 mm to express a stiffness value in units of grams per mm width (g / mm). The maximum force (grams) is recorded and the maximum force recorded is divided by the width to generate the ultimate tensile strength in g / mm width of the article or substrate. For materials that exceed the capacity of a load cell, the width of the strips is reduced or the capacity of the load cell is increased to measure stiffness and ultimate tensile strength.
D._ Dissolution rate test
A straight walled glass beaker with an inside diameter (id) of 63mm and an inside height of 87mm is obtained (eg Pyrex 250 ml (No. 1000), widely available). 150 grams of distilled water at room temperature (24 ° C (75 ° F) are poured into the beaker, and a Teflon® coated magnetic stir bar is added to the beaker. (Note: The stir bar can be nominally 3.81 cm long x 0.79 cm in diameter (1.5 inches long x 5/16 inches in diameter), and octagonal in shape when viewed from the end, and may have a 0.16 cm (1/16 inch) wide molded pivot ring around its center where the diameter may be approximately 0.89 cm (0.35 inch).) Examples of a suitable stir bar may include Spinbar® magnetic stirring marketed by Sigma Aldrich Corp. worldwide, including Milwaukee, Wl, USA. USA, and at www.sigmaaldrich.com.
The conductivity of the water is measured and recorded with a conductivity meter (eg, a Mettler-Toledo SevenMulti meter with lnLab740 probe). (Note:

The conductivity of the water should be approximately 2 microSemens / cm (uS / cm) or less to indicate a low level of dissolved solids present.) The conductivity probe is removed from the water and the beaker is placed on a digitally controlled laboratory shaker, for example, Ika® Werke RET Control-vise available, (eg from DivTech
Equipment Co, Cinclnnati, OH, United States). The glass is centered on the stirrer, and the stirrer is turned on to obtain a constant rotational speed of 500 rpm and to establish a vortex in the water that is approximately 3 cm deep from the highest point of water at the edge of the glass at lowest point of air in the center of the vortex. The vortex is viewed from above to ensure that the beaker is centered and that the magnetic stir bar is centered in the vortex. Weigh 1.0 gram of a pressed or formed cleaning composition as a single unit and add it to the water near the edge of the glass, but without touching it. A timer is started and the water with the cleaning composition is allowed to stir for 1 minute.
The stirrer is turned off. The conductivity probe is inserted into the water in a location away from any undissolved material. The measurement is allowed to stabilize for a few seconds, and the conductivity is recorded. The agitator turns on again. The automatic clock is restarted when the digital reading passes 250 rpm. After another minute, the stirrer is turned off and the conductivity is measured and recorded in the same way as explained above. The agitator turns on again. The automatic clock is restarted when the digital reading passes 250 rpm. The process is repeated until a conductivity reading has been obtained for each minute of agitation, for 5 minutes.
After taking the 5-minute conductivity reading, the beaker is covered with a suitable watertight cover (eg, plastic wrap).
Shake the beaker vigorously for about 1 minute to dissolve the remaining solids with a vortex type stirrer and / or moderate heating

additional, if necessary, until a close inspection is observed all soluble components are dissolved. The solution is cooled · 3 π jets' ΰΐΓ27 “* Ό“ {8ϋ “* Τ7 before the final measurement. The beaker is uncapped, the conductivity is measured, and the value is recorded as the final conductivity.
The fractional solution (f) at each time point is calculated with the equation: f = (conductivity - water conductivity) / (final conductivity water conductivity)
The dissolution half-life is calculated by fitting the fractional dissolution time series (6 points from 0 to 5 minutes) to a second-order polynomial, and an Interpolated or extrapolated result is calculated for a time when a composition is semi-dissolved. (i.e. f = 0.5).
The half-life of solution can be a measure of the tendency of a composition to resist solubilization by water. Bars of soap, for example, can have a dissolution half-life of 21.1 minutes (Ivory® ™ soap) and exhibit long life and low rate of use during use without the need for substrates as permeability barriers. Liquid body soap may have a shorter half-life to dissolution than 1/ 2 minute and may be unsuitable as a cleaning composition for some items.
EL_ Capacitance test
To measure the capacitance of an article, composition, or personal care product, a TA-XT2Í texture analyzer (Texture Technologies Corp, NY, USA) equipped with at least one 49.0 N load cell ( 5 kg) and a 1.91 cm (0.75 inch) balloon probe at ambient conditions, with the probe zero point at a

top surface of the article by using 0.0049 N (0.5 gram-force) to record a probe height and 0.019 N (2 gram-force) to start data collection, for force and distance . A compression force (kg) is determined at a compression rate of 1 mm / s over a depth of 5 mm, and it is ensured that the product, composition, or personal care article forms a flat surface over the contact area with the balloon probe, near the center of the article, composition or product. Measurements are repeated as necessary (eg, at least 3 times) to obtain a representative average value. To determine the capacitance of the article, composition or product, the maximum observed force obtained (kg) is divided by the maximum compression depth (5 mm). When using a 49.0 N (5 kg) load cell, some samples may exceed capacity; in this case, the maximum compression depth will be less than the established 5mm depth specified in the procedure.
