DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION *
This invention relates to a valve for returning lubricating grease under pressure from the supply line of the grease guns or a tank-like pressure supply device.
There are several different types of grease guns used to move high-viscosity products to a desired location at high pressures. Very often, the supply duct for these units consists of a flexible hose to allow easy access to all lubrication points. In the case where high pressure is required to overcome high resistance due to inherent tight tolerances in bushing type assemblies or blockages within the grease nipple, swelling of the flexible hose occurs with increased pressure. At the end of the grease cycle, the pressure in the supply line drops from the high pressure required to grease to atmospheric pressure by disconnecting the grease coupler from the grease nozzle. The result is that the supply hose that absorbs extra fat as it inflates under the highest pressure now disperses this volume, wasting it as it returns to normal size under atmospheric pressure. This waste grease is also
<img file="MX341982B_D0010.tif" />
IMPI
MEXICANC INSTITUTE OF INDUSTRIAL PROPERTY is greatly complicated by the fact - '^' επίΐΓ • f'xi'S'ten-ra '& i always have small air pockets trapped inside the lubricating grease, which compress as the pressure in the hose rises during the lubrication cycle. As the supply line is released from the grease nozzle, the air bags increase volumetrically when exposed to atmospheric pressure, displacing even more lubricating grease off the end of the supply line resulting in additional waste grease. This waste increases fat consumption, becomes a fire hazard when left on the machine, and becomes an environmental hazard when dropped on the ground and allowed to enter water systems. By being able to release the lubricating grease under pressure in the supply line at the end of the return of the lubrication cycle to a predetermined reservoir, a significant reduction in waste grease can be achieved, thus creating a cost-effective and ecological lubrication system cash.
Another common feature in greasing systems is the use of a coupler known in the art as the Zerk Grease Coupler. This coupler allows a high pressure connection between the grease supply line and the lubrication point (the grease nozzle). A common feature of the Zerk Grease Coupler is that it is designed in such a way that the pressure generated within the

Supply line helps with gripping the grease harness to the grease nipple. Therefore, the greater the pressure generated within the supply line, the greater the force with which the coupler grasps the grease nozzle. In the case where the greasing cycle is completed and a pressure remains within the supply line, the operator will need to vigorously swing the coupler relative to the grease nipple, to cause bypass of the lubricating grease and allow a pressure drop in the supply line and in turn allow the coupler to release the grease nozzle. In this process, the coupler and nozzle tend to become damaged over time, as well as generate waste grease each time the pressure is released in such a way at the grease nozzle. With the inclusion of a pressure relief valve, at the end of the greasing cycle, the pressure within the supply line can be relieved either manually or automatically back into the grease reservoir and the coupler can be easily removed. By using this methodology, the life of the coupler and nozzles will be extended as well as a reduction in waste grease will be achieved. These positive results will be directly responsible for a reduction in lubrication costs.
Tests have shown that due to the benefits of this invention, reductions can be achieved

A similar displacement mechanism, comprising a three port valve body located before the supply line, the valve body includes a pressure inlet port, a supply port to which the supply line is attached, and a pressure port. pressure relief, which is discharged into a tank located between them; the pressure relief port includes a one-way flow control valve mountable therein and actuating means for the one-way flow control valve; wherein the one-way flow control valve is held in a closed position by the pressure of lubricating grease within the three port valve body, and is activated to open when required, thereby allowing the supply line pressure is reduced to atmospheric pressure when the lubricating grease is released back into the grease reservoir.

The three lights interconnectH'TflOTl'á'rtté''f réS * · '· elongated passages. The relief port is located between the supply port and the pressure inlet port. A one-way safety valve on the pressure inlet port allows the viscous substance to only flow in the supply direction and inhibits any flow in the opposite direction. The one-way flow control valve is located inside the pressure relief port and remains completely sealed with any pressure generated beyond the pressure inlet relief valve. In other words, it is a positive seal. The delivery port somehow allows the delivery line to be attached to the body of the apparatus thereby allowing the viscous substance to be delivered to its desired location.
In the preferred form of the invention, the one-way flow control valve comprises a valve ball joint and a valve seat, the pressure of the lubricating grease within the valve body exerts pressure on the valve ball joint and maintains it in sealed contact with valve seat. The valve seat is preferably mounted on the valve port by screwing it in, therefore both having screw threads for this purpose.
Also in the preferred form of the invention, the valve seat comprises a body having a passage

INDUSTRIAL internal elongated smaller diameter1 t'ót'tfi · »·· ife · valve. An activation bar is provided, which comprises a stepped shaft with the smallest end thereof slidably located within the internal passage of the valve seat. This smaller diameter end is sized to allow the passage of lubricating grease to pass into the grease reservoir. The opposite end with a larger diameter (or for practical purposes) is positioned to allow a mechanical conductor to engage the shaft thereby advancing the valve ball out of the valve seat.
The trigger bar loosely sits within the valve seat passage and is supported by a retention formation that retains the trigger bar within the valve seat passage and maintains the rods in alignment with the mechanical driver. The mechanical conducting element is preferably a formation in some form of a lever or pedal that has the ability to rotate and thus enable the conducting element to engage the trigger bar and thereby open the one-way flow control valve.
To operate the invention, the trigger bar needs to be replaced in order to advance the ball joint of the one-way flow control valve out of the valve seat. This allows the free flow of lubricating grease to

through the elongated seat passage of1 vá'iwlsrde'tün-tTtrli one-way flow, loosely adjusts the activation bar back to the grease reservoir.
In the first case, this can be accomplished manually.
It follows that on any manual grease gun the trigger handle or foot pedal will be outside the grease reservoir while the pumping mechanism will be inside the grease reservoir. The external movement of the pedal or the handle is transferred into the grease reservoir where a drive element is fixed in an appropriate position in relation to the activation bar. In this way when raising the handle or the pedal at the end of the lubrication cycle, although there is still residual pressure inside the supply duct, the movement will be carried out through the activation bar and in turn advances the release valve. Ball joint out of relief valve seat thus allowing lubricating grease under pressure into supply line to return to reservoir. Other mechanical means of opening this valve such as cams or levers can be devised.
In the second case, the one-way flow control valve can open automatically. As in the previous example, at the end of a lubrication cycle with the return spring that has the pump pulled (and in its connection) to its extreme position in its inlet stroke, the

activation can be lengthened in such a way ...... (ϊΰΰ ι(1ϊϊ3ϊ,0ΤΐΐΤ3 ”'ύ ^' one-way flow control valve is previously advanced out of the valve seat in this position. Thus it turns out that the pressure in the supply line is automatically relieved at the end of each cycle.
In the third case, the trigger bar can be advanced to open the relief valve by an external power source activated by the operator. This can take the form of pneumatic and hydraulic electrical means.
It should be noted that the one-way flow control valve is not a pressure sensitive valve but is controlled by the operator regardless of the pressure of the supply line. Once the trigger force is relieved from the trigger bar, the one-way flow control valve will remain in the open position until such time as additional pressure is introduced through the pressure inlet port. Due to the viscous nature of the material being pumped and the limited tolerances between the port and the ball joint, the one-way flow control valve ball joint is transported to the valve seat as soon as pumping starts, thus preventing grease lubricant returns to reservoir as pressure increases.

The preferred embodiment of the tnvénói'ófí is in the following with reference to the attached drawings in which:
Figure 1 shows a cross-sectional view of the lubrication system incorporating the grease pump, reservoir, one-way flow control valve, supply line, grease coupler, and grease nozzle. The automatic manual control lever / pedal is also shown with arrows represented in the rotation of the control arm and the movement of the trigger bar.
Figure 2: shows the one-way flow control valve assembly including inlet, outlet, and relief port pressure. The grease gun supply safety valve and one-way flow control valve are shown in the fully closed position. The arrow represents the movement required by the trigger bar to allow the one-way flow control valve ball joint to move from its seat, allowing the lubricating grease under pressure to be released from the system back to the reservoir.
Referring to the drawings, the apparatus for releasing lubricating grease under pressure in the supply line is detailed. It should be noted that to clearly represent the application and relevance of the

one-way flow control, including vaTÍ'Uy — OTiripuiiences'1Extras and figures which are not necessarily directly related to the patent. For example, the bearing / bushing, grease nipple, and grease coupler depicted in Figure 1.
Referring to Figures 1 and 2, when the operator starts the first supply stroke on the grease pump 2, the lubricating grease passes under pressure to the apparatus 12 through the inlet pressure port 14. The supply safety valve 18 allows only a directional flow of the lubricating grease from the inlet port to the apparatus 12. The pressure generated within the apparatus ensures that the one-way flow control valve ball 15 forms a positive seal against the valve seat 13. Due to the broadly viscous nature of the lubricating grease, spring retention is not required at valve ball 17. The lighter flow of the lubricating grease transports the valve ball 17 to the valve seat 13 and forms an efficient seal in an instant.
An additional stroke of the grease pump if by manual or mechanical means, the grease has no choice even if it passes through the supply port 15, and in turn goes down into the supply conduit 8 as a one-way flow control settles

firmly on the valve seat 13, cprraiyfo ia ^ áiTmL · », .— When the grease coupler 7 and the grease nozzle 6 are coupled and while the grease pump has made a stroke, the lubricating grease travels through the bearing / bushing 5, which requires lubricating grease. In the case where there are tight tolerances within the bearing / bushing or there is a blockage in the grease nipple, substantial pressure may remain within the supply duct 8. Without allowing this pressure to dissipate (and due to the design of the Zerk grease coupler) it becomes very difficult to divide the grease coupler and grease nozzle as the pressure in the supply line increases, the greater the force. with which the grease coupler grips the grease nozzle. In such a case, when the grease coupler is forced out of the nozzle, the lubricating grease flows waste from the end end of the supply line (as the inflated hose returns to size and any air pockets inside The lubricating grease increases in volume and forces additional lubricating grease out of the end of the supply line. Removing the grease coupler, albeit under pressure, has a distinctively negative effect on its service life and there is a high probability that either the grease coupler or grease nozzle, in turn, will be damaged.

To avoid this scenario, the operator activates the activation bar 9, using the manual or automatic lever / pedal 3. The lever includes a mechanical driver 10 that engages the upper part of the bar 9 The actuation bar moves the flow control valve ball joint 17 one way, thus breaking the positive seal between ball joint 17 and valve seat 13. The pressurized lubricating grease inside the appliance and the supply line are now released by passing the relief port safety valve and the activation bar back to the grease reservoir 1. The diameter of the activating bar projecting into the elongated passage within valve seat 13 needs to be smaller than the diameter of the elongated passage to a degree that sufficient lubricating grease is derived from the operating bar. The one-way flow control valve will then remain open.
With the start of a new lubrication cycle, the initial pressure generated within the apparatus will transport the one-way flow control valve ball joint 17, and the activation bar 9 in unison in the upward direction until a positive seal is generated by valve ball 17 and valve seat 13.
