Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to server, and more particularly, to a server cabinet having inserted front-to-back beams and removable vertical posts.
Background of the Invention
Server cabinets are well known in the art. For example, US Patent No. 7,293,666, which is assigned to American Power Conversion Corporation (West Kingston, RI), describes a server cabinet. However, the server cabinet does not have front-to-back joists inserted and removable vertical posts.
Therefore, there is a need for a server cabinet that has front-to-back rafters inserted and removable vertical posts.
Summary of the Invention
A frame for a cabinet is provided. The structure includes a side-by-side beam, a front-to-back beam connected to the side-by-side beam, and a vertical post connected to the side-by-side beam. The front to back beam is inserted relative to the vertical post to form a cable management area along one side of the structure.

Detailed description of the invention
As shown in Figures 1-3, server cabinet 100 includes cabinet structure 200 (Figures 416), equipment rails 300A, 300B (Figures 17-31), front door 400 (Figures 32-37), rear door 500 (Figures 38-43), side door 600 (Figures 44-52), and top cover 700 (Figures 53-61).
As shown in Figure 4, cabinet structure 200 includes front-to-back beams 210, top and bottom side-by-side beams 220A, 220B, vertical posts 230, and front plates 240.
As shown in Figure 5, front to back beams 210 and side to side beams 220A are connected to form top frame 250A. Similarly, front to back beams 210 and bottom side to side beams 220B

they are connected to form structure ^ nfor-inr 2S0B.
Preferably, front-to-back beams 210 are permanently connected to side-to-side beams 220A, 220B, for example, using permanent connectors, such as rivets and welds, but similarly it is contemplated that front-to-back beams 210 are connected in a manner removable to side-by-side beams 220A, 220B, for example, using removable connectors, such as nuts and bolts and screws.
As shown in Figures 6 and 7, vertical posts 230 are connected to upper and lower structures 250A, 250B, and more particularly, side-by-side beams 220A, 220B, to form cabinet structure 200. Preferably, vertical posts 230 are removably connected to side-by-side beams 220A, 220B, for example, using removable connectors, such as nuts and bolts and screws, but similarly it is contemplated that vertical posts 230 are permanently connected to side-by-side beams. 220A, 220B, for example, using permanent connectors, such as rivets and solders. Cover plates 232 are removably connected to vertical posts 230, for example using removable connectors such as nuts and bolts and screws, and when removed provide access to cabinet frame assembly openings 234. Additionally, when ίο

Additionally, faceplates 240 are removably connected to side-by-side joists 220A, 220B, and vertical posts 230, for example, using removable connectors, such as nuts and bolts and screws, but similarly it is contemplated that faceplates 240 are connected permanently to side-by-side beams 220A, 220B, for example, using permanent connectors, such as rivets and welds. Preferably, face plates 240 provide additional rigidity to cabinet structure 200, and more particularly, side-by-side beams 220A, 220B, and vertical posts 230. Cover plates 242 are removably connected to face plates 240, and finally, side beams Side 220A, for example, using removable connectors, such as nuts and bolts and screws, and when removed, provide access to cable management openings 224, 244.
Preferably upper and lower structures
250A, 250B are assembled before shipping server cabinet 100, for example, at a factory. However, vertical posts 230 and faceplates 240, as well as equipment rails 300, front door 400, rear door 500, side door 600, and top cap 700, can be assembled after shipping server cabinet 100, for example,

of data, thereby reducing the cost of shipping the data center to a location near the center of the shipping volume, and therefore server cabinet 100, without significantly impacting assembly time.
As shown in Figures 8-10, front and rear wheels 260A, 260B, and leveling legs 270 connect to bottom frame 250B, and more particularly, bottom side-by-side beams 220B.
Preferably 260B rear wheels and leveling feet
270 are rotatably connected to the bottom frame 250B, and more particularly, bottom side-by-side beams 220B, to help position and level the server cabinet 100, but similarly it is contemplated that 260A front wheels, taken alone or in combination with wheels Rear 260B, rotatably connect to lower frame 250B, and more particularly lower side-by-side beams 220B, to further assist in positioning the server cabinet
100.
As shown in Figures 11 and 12, backfeed beams 210 are inserted relative to vertical posts 230, and more particularly, intersection of side-by-side beams 220A, 220B and vertical posts 230, which form cable management area 280 along side of cabinet frame 200, for example, between area of

300A, 300B, and side door panels 610A, 610B 'side door 600.
As the width of the server cabinet 100 increases, for example, from 600 mm (Figures 11 and 12) to 700 mm (Figures 13 and 14) and 800 mm (Figures 15 and 16), the width of the address area of Cable 280 increases, while the width of equipment mounting area 290 remains the same.
As shown in Figures 17-19 and 28-31, equipment rails 300A, 300B are connected to cabinet structure 200, and more particularly, front to rear beams 210 of upper and lower structures 250A, 250B. Preferably, the equipment rails 300A, 300B are adjustable. That is, equipment rails 300A, 300B are removably connected to cabinet structure 200, and more particularly, front to rear joists 210 of upper and lower structures 250A, 250B, for example, using removable connectors, such as nuts. and bolts and screws.
For example, as shown in Figures 19 and 31, equipment rails 300A, 300B include channel nuts 310 and mounting bolts 320. Channel nuts 310 include tabs 312 for placing channel nuts 310 through top openings 212 in beams front to back 210 and align channel nuts 310 with side openings 214 in

the front-to-back beam 210. Additionally, channel nuts 310 include tips 314 to secure channel nuts 310 to front-to-back beams 210 and set equipment rails 300 to cabinet structure 200.
As shown in Figures 2 0 and 21, when channel nuts 310 and mounting bolts 320 are engaged and tightened, equipment rails 300A, 300B are secured to front-to-rear joists 210. However, when channel nuts 310 and mounting bolts 32 0 are attached, but loose, the equipment rails 300A, 300B slide along elongated openings 214 in front-to-rear beams 210, allowing the rails to Equipment 300A, 300B are placed in any number of locations along elongated openings 214 in front-to-back joists 210.
Depending on the location of equipment rails 300A, 300B, additional cable management areas 280 may be provided, for example, in front of server cabinet 100 and at the rear of server cabinet 100.
Additionally, as shown in Figures 19 and
31, the equipment rails 300A, 300B include reinforcements 330, which are removably connected to equipment rails 300A, 300B, for example, using removable connectors, such as nuts and bolts and screws, but reinforcements are similarly contemplated. 330 are permanently connected to equipment rails 300A, 300B, for example,

using permanent connectors, such as rivets and solders. Alternatively, equipment rails 300A, 300B, and reinforcement 330 are integrally formed.
As shown in Figures 22-27, equipment rails 300B include mounting openings 340 for mounting electrical equipment, such as servers, patch panels, and switches, on server cabinet 100, and are configured to receive mounting brackets. of accessory, such as 350 patch panel cartridge mounting brackets and 360 cable management finger mounting brackets, for mounting accessories, such as patch panel cartridges 352 and cable management fingers 362 in server cabinet 100, and more particularly, cable management area 280 of server cabinet 100.
For example, as shown in Figures 22-24, equipment rails 300B include patch panel cartridge mounting brackets 350 for mounting patch panel cartridges 352 to equipment rails 300B. As shown in Figure 24, patch panel cartridge mounting brackets 350 are removably connected to equipment rails 300B, for example, using removable connectors, such as nuts and bolts and screws, but similarly contemplated that patch panel cartridge mounting bracket 350 are permanently connected to equipment rails 300B, for example, using permanent connectors, such as rivets and solders.

Patch panel cartridges 352 snap fit into patch panel cartridge housings 354, which in turn snap fit into patch panel cartridge mounting brackets 350. As such, patch panel cartridge housings 354 are quickly and easily removed from patch panel cartridge mounting brackets 350, providing increased access to patch panel cartridges 350.
Alternatively, as shown in Figures 25-27, equipment rails 300B include cable management finger mounting brackets 36 0 for mounting cable management fingers 362 to equipment rails 300B. As shown in Figure 27, 360 cable management finger mounting brackets are removably connected to 300B equipment rails, for example, using removable connectors, such as nuts and bolts and screws, but similarly contemplated that cable management finger mounting brackets 350 are permanently connected to 300B equipment rails, for example, using permanent connectors, such as rivets and solders. Alternatively, 300B equipment rails and 360 cable management finger mounting brackets are integrally formed. 362 cable management fingers snap into 360 cable management finger mounting brackets.
