The legs, for example, can be connected to the tabletop by inserting the upper portions of the legs into leg receiving recess formed in the tabletop. The leg receiving recesses are preferably integrally formed in the bottom surface of the tabletop as part of a one-piece construction. Desirably, a plurality of leg receiving recesses are formed in the bottom surface of the table top and the legs can be selectively attached to the leg receiving recesses in order to vary the height of the table.

DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The present invention generally relates to tables and, in particular, to a lightweight table that can be adjusted in height and can have legs that can collapse in a storage position.
Conventional tables are used for a variety of purposes and come in a wide arrangement of designs. In some situations, it is desirable to have a smaller table for personal or individual use. For example, people living in a small space, such as a study, may choose to use a smaller custom-size table on which to eat or perform other tasks. Others may use a personal table to set a chair aside for the convenience of setting objects while reading, watching television, or listening to the radio. Still others may use personal tables to perform tasks such as writing, work, or using a computer.
Conventional tables often include table tops constructed of wood, chipboard, or metal. Table tops constructed of wood, chipboard, or metal, however, are often relatively heavy and this can make the table complicated or difficult to move. Conventional table tables constructed of wood or metal η
<img file="MX337694B_D0013.tif" />
Ι.Μ.Τ üt t ..
They are also relatively expensive and table tops generally need to be treated or finished before use. For example, wooden table tops should generally be sanded and painted, and metal table tops should be shaped as desired and painted. In addition, these relatively heavy table tables increase the cost of transporting, shipping, and storing the tables.
In order to reduce the weight of conventional tables 10, table tables can be constructed of relatively thin, light materials.
Disadvantageously, these lightweight table tables frequently require reinforcing members or other structural parts such as frames, columns, clamps, and the like to reinforce the table table. These additional parts can increase the strength of the table top, but these additional parts can also increase the weight of the table. In addition, these additional parts increase manufacturing costs and require additional time to assemble the table. In addition, these additional parts may have sharp edges that can injure the user's legs, arms, and other body parts.
Known tables can also allow the weight of the table to be adjusted to suit the user's needs. For example, the length of the table legs
<img file="MX337694B_D0014.tif" />
can be increased or decreased <int e — a telescopic °. Disadvantageously, because the telescopic assemblies include overlapping components, the assembly is relatively heavy. Additionally, conventional tables can use other mechanisms to allow the height of the table to be adjusted, but these devices are often relatively complex and require additional parts, which increases the cost of manufacturing and assembling the table. These complex designs can also result in tables that are relatively difficult to use.
Another known type of table is a traditional game table in which each leg is pivotally connected to the table top by a brace and each leg individually folds against the table top. Known tables can try to reduce the inconvenience of bending the legs individually against the table top by coupling two of the legs together using a long connecting bar. This can increase the stability of the table top and allow the user to simultaneously bend both legs in the collapsed position. The connecting bars, however, increase the cost of the table, reduce the space under the table table, and can easily be broken or disconnected.
Conventional tables can also connect
<img file="MX337694B_D0015.tif" />
Separately the legs to the table top to allow the user to more easily collapse, move and store the table. Disadvantageously, the detachable legs often create a table that is not strong or stable. Additionally, moving a table with this type of joint when the legs are still attached is often difficult because the legs can be undesirably separated. These known types of tables can include a joint that mechanically secures the leg to the table top. These mechanical joints, such as plastic or metal clips, or clamps, often break or otherwise become damaged. Furthermore, the attachment of these devices to the table top can structurally weaken the table top, which can allow the table to fail unexpectedly. Furthermore, the attachment of the four separate attachment mechanisms of the table top by fasteners such as screws or bolts can undesirably weaken the table top.
Many conventional tables include four legs to support the table top on a surface such as the floor. The four separate legs, however, increase the weight of the table. Additionally, all four legs require four separate joining mechanisms to attach the legs to the table top, which increases the cost and complexity of the table.
There is a need for a table that eliminates
<img file="MX337694B_D0016.tif" />
disadvantages and problems described above.
One aspect of the present invention is a relatively small size table that is designed for use by a single person. This type of table that is intended for use by an individual is referred to as a personal table, but it will be appreciated that more than one person can use the table if desired. Advantageously, the personal table is relatively small and light in weight, which makes the table easy to move and transport. Significantly, because the table is sized and configured for personal use, it does not take up unnecessary space or provide a large amount of unused space. Thus, the personal table provides ample space for a single user without requiring a large area or wasting unnecessary space.
Another aspect of the personal table is that it can be used for a wide variety of different situations and uses such as a table to support a television, computer, sewing machine, microwave, lamp, luggage, and the like. The table can also be used for a wide variety of other uses, such as a bedside table, coffee table, nightstand, desk, workshop table and the like. In addition, the table can also be used to perform a wide variety of tasks, such as reading, writing, studying, working, etc. Thus, the personal table can be used in a number of different <ο
J po, '.
OF THE? /> I;! L¡ L \ ij, '' G '' ·· / #
INDUSTRIAL environments and numerous tasks can be performed
Yet another aspect of the personal table is the height of the table that can be easily adjusted. Advantageously, the height adjustable table allows it to be used for many different purposes, such as those discussed above.
An additional aspect of the personal table is that the table top is supported by a single pair of legs. The preference legs are pivotally connected and the preference legs allow the table top to be easily adjusted. Significantly, because the table top is supported by a single pair of legs, providing additional legroom and / or under-table storage space. In addition, the simple pair of legs is lightweight and easily attaches to the table top. The simple pair of legs can desirably support the table top and suitable objects placed on the personal table. Advantageously, because the personal table is relatively small in size, the simple pair of legs can adequately support the table.
Still another aspect of the personal table is that the legs can preferably be moved between a use position and a storage position. The legs preferably extend out from the table top in the position of use and the legs support the table top from the table.

table above a surface such as the floor. In the storage position, the legs preferably collapse into a relatively compact area, allowing the table to be easily transported or stored. The legs, for example, can be placed adjacent and / or close to the bottom surface of the table top in the collapsed position.
Another aspect of the personal table is that the table of preference is constructed of a lightweight material so that the table can be easily transported and can be easily lifted and moved by one person. Desirably, the table top is constructed of blow molded plastic, such as high-density polyethylene. The blow molded plastic table top provides a rigid, high strength structure that is capable of withstanding repeated use and wear. Advantageously, the blow molded table table can be easily fabricated and formed into the desired size and shape. In addition, the blow molded table table can form a structural component of the table to decrease the number of components and table size. Thus, racks, reinforcements, or other support members are not required to support the table top.
Still another aspect of the personal table is that the legs can be attached to recesses and / or grooves formed in which a table clamp is attached to the legs of the table.
MEXICAN INSTITUTE ~ - '/ j <,
D £ U 'table table. In particular, the legs prefer to the table of the table by means of pressure, with pressure or friction. This connection to the table top can also allow them to be selectively removed or detached from the table. Advantageously, because the legs do not require any fasteners or other structures that connect to the table top, any stress points or other types of weak parts are formed on the table of the table. In this way, the strength and stiffness of the table top is not decreased by forming insert holes or fasteners in the table top. The legs can also be pivotally or slidably attached to the table top.
One aspect of the personal table is that the legs can be removably attached to the table top. This allows the legs to be easily removed for transport and / or storage. Furthermore, removal of both legs can also allow the height of the table to be easily adjusted by attaching the legs to different grooves or notches in the table top. One leg, however, can be permanently or more securely attached to the table top, and the other leg can also be more easily attached or detached from the table top. In this way, the selectively separable table can be separated from the table table when the height of the table is to be adjusted and / or the table
<img file="MX337694B_D0018.tif" />
you want to move or store. Of course, both legs can easily be separated from the table top, but only one of the legs can be separated to allow, for example, the height of the table to adjust or move the legs in a collapsed position.
A further aspect of the personal table is the pair of legs which are preferably pivotally connected by a pin, bolt or screw in a generally X-shaped configuration. The pivoting connection advantageously allows the legs to move quickly between the positions of storage and use. The pivoting connection also allows the height of the table to be easily adjusted. Desirably, each leg includes a lower portion that contacts a support surface such as the floor, a body portion, and an upper portion that is sized and configured to connect to the table top. The body portion of each of the legs may include two support members, each helping to prevent undesirable twisting or torque on the connection of the upper and lower portions to the elongated body portion.
Another aspect of the personal table is that the legs can be joined to the table table by double articulating members. Advantageously, the legs can be pivotally joined by the double articulating members to
<img file="MX337694B_D0019.tif" />
the table top to allow the height of the table top to be adjusted. In particular, the double joint members can preferably be moved between different positions and allowing the height of the table top to be changed. The legs can also be slidably attached to the table top and a ratchet assembly can be used to selectively adjust the height of the table top.
An additional aspect of the personal table is that the
·. · T-, legs preferably move to one side of the table top. Advantageously, because the legs are not placed in the center of the table, which provides improved legroom for the user. This also allows the table top to be positioned closer to the user's body, which may be more convenient for the user.
Advantageously the personal table is relatively simple to manufacture because it preferably consists of a table table constructed of blow molded plastic and a pair of pivotally interconnected legs. The blow molded table table includes two opposing separating walls, which increase the strength and rigidity of the table table. The blow molded table top may also include one or more trims or fasteners to further increase the strength of
<img file="MX337694B_D0020.tif" />
the table top and / or interconnect the separate walls. Significantly ^ a blow molded table top is lightweight, durable, generally weather resistant and temperature insensitive, and will not corrode, rust, or otherwise deteriorate. The blow molded table top can also be formed into various shapes, sizes, configurations, and designs.
Additionally, the personal table is easy to assemble, which reduces manufacturing and labor costs. Furthermore, the consumer can easily assemble the personal table and the consumer will appreciate many aspects of the personal table such as light weight, easy height adjustment, transportability,. firmness, and a wide variety of uses in any different environment.
These and other aspects, features and advantages of the present invention will become more fully apparent from the following detailed description of the preferred embodiments and the appended claims.

The present invention is directed towards a table and, in particular, a table that is intended to be used by a single user at a time. The principles of the present invention, however, are not limited to a table intended for use by a single user. It will be understood that, in view of the present description, the table can be used by more than one user at any given time.
Additionally, to aid in the description of the table, words such as top, bottom, front, rear right and left are used to describe the accompanying Figures. It will be appreciated, however, that the table can be located in a variety of desired positions including various angles, sideways and even upside down. A detailed description of the table now follows.
As seen in Figure 1, an exemplary table 10 is shown. Table 10 is preferably a table of relatively small size intended for use by a
-Ή.
ií IV ΙΝ51ΠΙ only one person at a time. Advantageously, because table 10 is sized and configured for personal use, it does not require a large amount of space. Therefore, table 10 provides ample space for a single user without requiring a large area or unnecessary space. This table 10 that is sized and configured for use by a single person is referred to as a personal table.
The personal table 10 includes a table table 12 and a support assembly 14 which is used to support the table table on top of a surface such as the floor or the ground. Table table 12 includes an upper surface 16, a lower surface 18, a front side 20, a rear side 22, a right side 24 and a left side 26. Table table 12 may also include a sloped, rounded or beveled surface 28 disposed between top surface 16 and one or more of sides 20, 22, 24, and 26. Beveled surface 28 may increase user comfort and safety. . The beveled surface 28, for example, may be longer, along the front surface 20 of the table table 12, but it will be appreciated that the personal table 10 does not require a beveled surface.
As shown in Figure 1, table table 12 preferably has a generally rectangular configuration with rounded corners and slightly rounded outer edges or sides 20, 22, 24, and 26.

(20 inches) wide, but someone skilled in the art will appreciate that the table top may have other suitable sizes and configurations. For example, table table 12 may be longer or smaller, and table table may have other configurations such as square, circular, oval, and the like depending, for example, on the intended use of personal table 10. Furthermore, the corners and edges of the table 12 of the table do not have to be rounded and, in contrast, the corners and edges can have any desirable configuration, but the rounded features can increase the comfort and / or safety of the user.
Advantageously, the personal table 10 can be used for a wide variety of purposes and in a number of different settings. For example, the personal table 10 can be used as a television table, computer table, sewing table, bedside table, coffee table, microwave table, desk, workshop table, luggage table, and the like. Furthermore, the personal table 10 can be used for writing, reading, working and other suitable uses. Accordingly, the personal table 10 has the capacity of many different and is preferably dimensioned and configured to be used by one person at a time. The most personal 10, as discussed further

detail in the following, preferably JL dimension, configured to support one or more objects related to these different tasks and uses. For example, the personal table 10 is desirably configured to support a television, computer, books, or luggage according to its intended use by the individual user.
Table 12 of the preferred table is constructed of a lightweight material, and most preferably, the table of the table is constructed of plastic, such as high-density polyethylene. The table 12 of the plastic table is desirably formed by a blow molding process, for example, because it allows a strong, light, stiff and solid table table to be manufactured quickly and easily. Advantageously, blow molded plastic table top 12 is lighter in weight than conventional table tops constructed of wood or metal, and blow molded plastic table top can be constructed of less plastic, which saves manufacturing costs and reduces consumer costs. In particular, blow molded table top 12 can be made with thin plastic walls and allows the table top to cool faster during the manufacturing process, which decreases manufacturing time. Furthermore, table 12 of the blow molded plastic table can be constructed in any suitable configuration, shape, size, design and / or color,

<img file="MX337694B_D0025.tif" />
:For example, the intended use of the personal table 10. For example, table table 12 can be constructed with a generally rectangular configuration of approximately 45.72cm X 60.96cm (18 X 24 inches), a table table with a generally circular configuration with a diameter of approximately 50.8 cm. (20 inches) or a table table with a generally square configuration with sides of 60.96 cm. (24 inches) can be easily formed during the blow molding process. Of course, it will be appreciated that the blow molded table table 12 can have any suitable size and configuration depending, for example, on the intended use of the personal table 10.
Table table 12 is preferably constructed of blow molded plastic because blow molded plastic table tables are durable, weather resistant, generally temperature insensitive, corrosion resistant, mold resistant, and generally not they deteriorate over time. Someone skilled in the art, however, will appreciate that the table top 12 does not have to be constructed of blow molded plastic and other suitable materials and / or processes can be used to construct the table top depending, for example, on usage. intended from table 10
<img file="MX337694B_D0026.tif" />
As shown in Figure 1, the top surface 16 and bottom surface 18 of table table 12 are separated by a given distance and these two separate surfaces help create a stiff and strong table table 12. Additionally, as described in more detail below, the upper and lower surfaces 16, 18 can be interconnected by one or more depressions or other reinforcing structures and those structures can be dimensioned and configured to further increase the strength and rigidity of Table 12 of table. Advantageously, these troughs and / or other reinforcing structures can be integrally formed as part of a one-piece structure during the blow molding process.
Support assembly 14 is used to support table 12 from the table above a surface such as dirt or floor. As shown in Figures 1-6, an exemplary embodiment of support assembly 14 includes a first leg 30a and a second leg 30b. The first leg 30a and the second leg 30b preferably each include a bottom portion 32a, 32b that is sized and configured to contact the ground or floor, a body portion 34a, 34b, and an upper portion 36a, 36b respectively . The lower portion 32a, 32b of each of the legs 30a,

Bottom 32a, 32b is an elongated member having a length slightly less than the width of table table 12 to provide a relatively stable base, because the elongated member may be longer or shorter. As shown in the accompanying figures, the lower portions 32a, 32b are preferably hollow tubes that are light and easy to manufacture, and the tubes are preferably considered to be metal, but any suitable material can be used. The end caps 42 can be attached to the ends of the lower portions 32a, 32b to prevent foreign objects from entering the hollow tubes, and the end caps can provide a non-slip and non-marking surface. It will be understood, however, that none of the lower portions 32a, 32b or end caps 42 are required.
As shown in Figures 1-6, the lower portions 32a, 32b are preferably positioned generally parallel to each other to provide a stable base for the personal table 10 that is crash resistant. It will be appreciated, however, that the lower portions 32a, 32b may have any desirable size, configuration, or design depending, for example, on the intended use for personal table 10. For example, í KM Ρ 'η

Lower portions 32a, 32b may have a triangular, square, rectangular, generally flat or other suitable configuration, and the support members may have any suitable width and length depending, for example, on the intended use of table 10.
The body portions 34a, 34b of the legs 30a, 30b preferably consist of one or more elongated members that are used to support the table top 12 on a surface such as the ground or the floor. It will be appreciated that the lengths of the body portions 34a, 34b of the legs 30a, 30b are preferably the same so that table 12 is supported in a generally horizontal position relative to the support surface and the length of body portions can help determine overall table height 10. The body portions 34a, 34b of each of the legs 30a, 30b are preferably constructed of generally hollow members, such as hollow metal tubes, which are lightweight and easy to manufacture, but the body portions can be any desired size and / or settings. The ends of the body portions 34a, 34b are preferably securely connected to the lower portions 32a, 32b of the legs 30a, 30b by welding or other suitable means.

as shown in Figure 7, for example, body portions 34a, 34b may include only a single elongate support member 40a, 40b. Advantageously, body portions 34a, 34b constructed with two separate elongated support members 40a, 40b can help prevent twisting or torque in connecting body portions 34a, 34b to lower portions 32a, 32b.
Additionally, the two elongated support members 40a, 40b separated from the body portions 34a, 34b can be curved or separated. In particular, the upper and lower portions of the body portions 34a, 34b can be separated to facilitate connection of the body portions to the lower portion 32a, 32b, which can create a more secure connection.
As best seen in Figures 5 and 6, the upper and lower portions of the body portions 34a, 34b are preferably curved outward and away from each other. The middle portions of the body portions 34a, 34b are preferably curved or arcuate together to allow the body portions to be connected. Desirably, body portions 34a, 34b are pivotally connected to allow legs 30a, 30b to move relative to each other. The legs 30a, 30b are connected at a connection point by a connector such as a bolt,

pin, screw, or other suitable fastener 44. Desirably, the legs are curved together toward the connection point to decrease the length of the bra 44 and the connection point is arranged closer to table 12 of the table than the lower portions 32a, 32b of the legs 30a, 30b, but the legs can be connected at any desired point. It will be appreciated that the legs 30a, 30b can also be slidably or otherwise movably attached.
As seen in Figures 3-6, for example, the upper portions 36a, 36b are joined to the upper portions s of the body portions 34a, 34b. The upper portions 36a, 36b preferably generally have the same dimension and size, and the upper portions are desirably constructed of hollow metal tubes. Hollow tubes preferably have a generally circular configuration, but the tubes may also be oval, oblong, square, rectangular, or have other suitable configurations. The upper portions 36a, 36b, however, do not have to be constructed of hollow metal tubes and the upper portions can also be constructed of other suitable components and materials. As best seen in Figures 3-5, the upper portions 36a 36b preferably separate closer together as the lower portions 32a, 32b when the legs are in an extended position.
<img file="MX337694B_D0031.tif" />
The upper portions 36a, 36b of the 'legs 30 a / 30b are preferably dimensioned and fit each leg to be received within the leg receiving recesses formed within table 12 of the table. Advantageously, if the upper portions 36a, 36b have the same size and configuration, then the upper portions can be interchangeably joined to table 12 of the table. For example, as seen in Figure 13, the bottom surface 18 of table 12 may include one or more leg receiving recesses 50 that are sized and configured to receive the upper portions 36a, 36b of legs 30a , 30b. Preferably, the upper portions 36a, 36b are configured to connect to the selected leg receiving recesses by a snap fit, friction fit or squeeze, which allows the legs 30a, 30b to be quickly and easily attached and detached from Table 12 on the table, but the legs can be connected to Table 12 on the table in any suitable way. Furthermore, retainers, tabs, fastening members, clips, fasteners or other suitable devices can be used to retain the upper portions 36a, 36b in the leg receiving recesses.
The leg receiving recesses 50 preferably extend generally from the front edge to the trailing edge of table table 12, but the recesses

...... - A extend only a portion of the distance between the. bottom surface 18 and top surface 16, but the top portion of the leg receiving recess may contact or engage the top surface of the table top.
Advantageously, the leg receiving recesses 50 formed in table 12 of the table allow table 10 to be constructed without a frame, which reduces manufacturing costs. Additionally, the coupling between the leg receiving recesses 50 and the legs 30a, 30b creates a stable support assembly 14. Someone skilled in the art will understand that the support assembly 14 can be connected to the table 12 of the table or by other suitable means such as adhesives or mechanical fasteners.
The leg receiving recesses may also include one or more retaining members 52. The retaining members 52 can be flexed or slightly bent to allow the upper portions 36a, 36b of the legs 30a, 30b to be inserted and removed from the leg receiving recesses. 52 members withholding preference

they return elastically to their original positions to help secure the portions 36a, 36b Silpé'riotés of the legs 30a, 30b within the leg receiving recesses 50. It will be appreciated, however, that the leg receiving recesses 50 may not require the use of the retaining members 52 to hold the upper leg positions 36a, 36b 30a, 30b within the leg receiving recesses.
In greater detail, the retaining members 52 preferably include a flange extending over a portion of the leg receiving recess 50 and the flange deforming or deflecting to allow the upper portions 36a, 36b of the legs 30a, 30b to be inserted or remove 1 leg receiving recess. The flange preferably includes a generally hollow interior that is formed during the blow molding process. Furthermore, the flange is preferably formed during the blow molding process as part of an integral one-piece structure.
Advantageously, because table 12 of the preference table includes a plurality of leg receiving recesses 50 and legs 30a, 30b may be connected to any suitable leg receiving recess, allowing the legs to be connected to different recesses of reception of legs. As discussed in greater detail in the following, this may allow the height of table 10 to be adjusted.
<img file="MX337694B_D0033.tif" />
Legs 30a, 30b are dimensioned. ν · ^ ο.η £ ί.αηΓ an, preferably for quick and easy connection and / or disconnection in any of the leg receiving recesses 50. In particular, the legs 30a, 30b are preferably pivotally connected to allow the legs to pivot or oscillate back to front with respect to each other at a wide variety of angles. The pivoting connection allows the legs 30a, 30b to be positioned quickly and easily so that the legs can be connected to the desired leg receiving recesses 50 in Table 12 of the table. This pivoting connection also allows the legs 30a, 30b to move between a first or extended position, which is shown in thick lines in Figure 4, and a second or collapsed position, which is shown in broken lines in Figure 4 . Legs 30a, 30b are desirably bent generally flat and / or adjacent to each other in the second position or collapsed to allow personal table 10 to be easily stored or collapsed.
A channel 54 can be formed in the lower surface 18 of table 12 of the table to receive at least a portion of the legs 30a, 30b in the collapsed position.
As seen in Figures 13-18, channel 54 preferably interconnects two or more of the leg receiving recesses 50 and the channel preferably extends through a
ΙΜΡϊ 3 side of table 12 of table such as eido-iod 24
Channel 54 preferably has a shape similar to that of leg body portions 34a, 34b 30a, 30b and the channel is preferably dimensioned and configured to receive at least a portion of one or the leg body portions in the collapsed position, as shown in Figure 18. This allows the legs 30a, 30b to be arranged generally adjacent to the table 12 of the table, which reduces the required amount of space and storage and this can also allow the personal tables 10 to be easily stacked.
Legs 30a, 30b may be retained in the collapsed position in channel 54 by one or more tabs 56. Tabs 56 are preferably located near an edge of table table 12 and the tabs are preferably dimensioned and configured to extend over a portion of the channel 54. One or more of the tabs 56 deform or deflect to allow the legs 30a, 30b to be received or removed from the channel 54. The tabs 56 preferably include a generally hollow inner portion and the tabs are desirably formed during the blow molding process as part of an integral one-piece structure. Someone skilled in the art will understand that clips, fasteners, and other types of devices can be used to secure legs 30a,
<img file="MX337694B_D0034.tif" />
30b in the collapsed position.
The pivotal connection of the legs 30a, 30b and "~ Tá '" plurality of leg receiving recesses 50 allows the height of the personal table 10 to be easily adjusted. As described in greater detail in the following, the user can select which of the rebates. Foot receiving 50 receives feet 30a, 30b and this allows the desired height to be selected. For example, it will be appreciated that if the legs 30a, 30b are joined to two of the leg receiving recesses 50 that are close together, the table 10 will have a given height. However, if legs 30a, 30b join two of the leg receiving recesses 50 that are further apart, then table 10 will have a lower height.
Legs 30a, 30b can be desirably moved quickly and easily between the extended and collapsed positions. For example, if the support legs 30a, 30b are fully disengaged from table 12 of the table, then the legs 30a, 30b can be folded in the collapsed position for storage. Alternatively, one or more of the legs 30a, 30b may be attached to table 12 of the table when the legs are in the collapsed position. Thus, a variety of different configurations are contemplated when table 10 collapses, including: (1) Support assembly 14 is fully decoupled from table 12 on table;
(2) At least a portion of the support assembly is
<img file="MX337694B_D0035.tif" />
connects to the table top while another portion of the bracket assembly disconnects from the table top; and (3) at least a portion of the support assembly is permanently attached to the table top.
The support assembly 14 is preferably configured to increase the legroom of the user when the table 10 is in an upright position. For example, as shown in Figures 1-3, the body portions 34a, 34b of the legs 30a, 30b are not centered with the lower portions 32a, 32b or upper portions 36a, 36b. Rather, body portions 34a, 34b are disposed toward one end of lower portions 32a, 32b and upper portions 36a, 36. Thus, when table table 12 is coupled to upper support assembly 14, as shown in Figure 1, for example, body portions 34a, 34b are located proximate to the rear 22 side of table 12 of table. Therefore, when the user sits on the front side 20 of the table 10, the body portions 34a, 34b of the legs 30a, 30b are positioned further away from the user to avoid preventing space for the user.
In particular, because the body portions 34a, 34b of the legs 30a, 30b are positioned near the rear side of the table 12 of the table, the user can slide the table 10 closer to his body. This allows

Thus it can be seen that 1-to-10 · facilitates the ergonomic user comfort by reducing the need for the user to : reload forward on : the table to be able to perform a particular task, such as reading or crafting work. The depressions 60 may cover a substantial portion of the lower surface 18 of the table 12 or the depressions may cover only a portion of the lower surface of the table table.:
The depressions 60 can also be located in the leg receiving recesses 50 and / or channel 54, if

you want. Alternatively, table table 12 can be constructed without any depression 60. In addition, while depressions 60 are preferably located on bottom surface 18, it would be appreciated that depressions can also be formed on any desired portion of table table 12.
As shown in Figure 13, depressions 60 can be formed in one arrangement. The depressions 60 in the arrangement can be located in a stepped, geometric, random, or some other suitable pattern. Additionally, depressions 60 can extend from one surface to an opposite surface such that one end of the depression contacts or couples the opposite surface. The depressions 60 can also only extend to a portion of the distance between the opposite surfaces. For example, depressions 60 can be extended. from the bottom surface 18 to the top surface 16, but the depressions can also extend only to a portion of the distance between the top and bottom surface.
The depressions 60 advantageously increase the strength of the table 12. While this was previously believed that stronger structures were provided by making the walls thicker and / or by adding structures such as flanges, the depressions 60 provide the result

JNü'jyf.:; ,, / ___, Wo surprising and unexpected that an increased number of depressions can provide a stronger structure and / or thinner walls can be used to build the structure. Surprisingly, depressions 60 increase the structural integrity of the structure despite forming discontinuities in the continuity of the bottom surface 18, and less plastic can be used to make the structure even through the plurality of depressions 60 that are formed, in the structure. Manufacturing and transportation costs can be lowered because the thinner plastic walls can be used to build the table top 12, which can create a lighter weight table 10.
Additionally, when blow molded structures are formed, a certain amount of time must elapse before the structure can be removed from the mold. Thicker walled blow molded structures require a longer cooling time than thinner walled structures. The depressions 60, however, allow the tables 12 of the tables with thinner plastic walls to be built and to reduce the cooling time before the structure can be removed from the mold. Significantly, a reduced cycle time increases the efficiency of the manufacturing process. Also, because less plastic is required, the cost of

Advantageously, the leg receiving recesses 50, the retaining members 52, the channels 54, the extension tabs 56 and / or the depressions 60 can be integrally formed with the table table 12 during the blow molding process as part of a one-piece structure. Advantageously, this allows a lightweight, strong structure to be created. It will be appreciated, however, that these structures do not have to be formed as part of a unitary structure and, in contrast, one or more of these structures can be formed after the blow molding process.
The personal table may also have other suitable configurations such as those shown in Figures 16-18. In particular, the personal table 10 shown in Figures 16-18 includes a table table 12 with a plurality of receiving recesses 50 formed in the lower surface 18 and this allows the support assembly 14 to be connected to the table in the table. This allows, as seen in Figure 17 for example, that the first leg 30a is connected to one of the receiving recesses 50 arranged near the right side of table 12 of the table and the second leg 30b is connected to the recess of Reception arranged near the left side of the table top. Advantageously, the first leg 30a can be selectively connected to any of the receiving recess 50 arranged cer, qá '

LO of table 12 of the table to allow the height of table 10 to be adjusted. For example, if the first leg 30a is connected to the receiving recess 50 arranged near the center of table 12 of the table, then table 10 will have a first height such as 71.12 cm. (28 inches). On the other hand, if the first leg 30a is connected to the receiving recess 50 arranged next to the right side 24, then the table 10 will have a second height, such as 53.34 cm. (21 inches). Of course, the first leg 30a can also be connected to one of the other receiving recesses 50 to create a table 10 with a height such as 60.96cm or 66.04cm. (24 or 26 inches). It will be appreciated that table 10 can be sized and configured to have any suitable height and the table can include any desired number of receiving recess 50 to allow the height of the table to be adjusted.
Table 12 of the table shown in Figures 16-18 includes an outer edge 70 and a recessed center section 72. The recessed center section 72 is preferably located between the leg receiving recesses 50 arranged on the right side 24 of table table 12 and the left side 26 of table table. The recessed center section 72 and the recessed outer sections 74 can be located in any desired configuration and the leg receiving recesses 50 and / or channel 54 can be located within one or more of these recessed sections.
As best seen in Figures 16 and 17, at least a portion of the channel 54 is formed in the recessed central section 72. Channel 54, however, may be flush with the recessed center section 72 if desired. In addition, table table 12 may include one or more generally flat portions 76 that accept instructions, warnings, safety labels, manufacturer information, operating instructions, and other information that is attached to the table table. Table table 12 may also include one or more support grooves 78 or other desired types of reinforcing structures. Desirably, the support grooves 78 can be dimensioned and configured to increase the strength and rigidity of the table 12 of the table.
In order to use table 10 shown in the

It will be appreciated that the leg receiving recesses 50 can also be arranged along the length of the table 12 of the table. That is, the leg receiving recesses 50 may be arranged proximate to the front side 20 and the rear side 22 of table 12 of the table. From the foregoing description, the leg receiving recesses 50 allow the personal table 10 to be easily adjusted to various suitable heights. For example, the personal table 10 can be configured to have a maximum height, an intermediate height, and a minimum height. In this way, table 10 can be configured to have a height that allows a user to stand and use the table, a height that is generally equal to the height of a counter table, and / or a height that allows the user sits at the table. Additionally, the height of the table 10 can be adjusted according to the desired use of the table. For example, the height of the table can be adjusted to allow the table to be used by children, or the table can have a height that allows it to be used as a tabletop or television table. Significantly, the various heights of table 10 can be determined and designed for any suitable purpose. This provides greater flexibility and a wide variety of uses for the table 10.
Figure 19 illustrates another aspect of a personal table 80. The personal table 80 includes a table table 12 with an outer wall or flange 82. The outer wall 82 preferably extends generally below the lower surface 18 of table table 12 and may

Advantageously, the outer wall 82 can help to hide the parts of the table 80 from user view and can also help protect the user from unintentional contact with the parts of the table. The receiving members 86 include one or more curved receiving portions 88 that are sized and configured to receive the upper portions 36a, 356b of the legs 30a, 30b. The upper portions 36a, 36b of the legs 30a, 30b are inserted into the desired receiving portions 88 and the legs are preferably held within the receiving portions by snap, friction or clamp fit. It will be appreciated that the legs 30a, 30b can be attached to the receiving members 86 by any suitable means such as fasteners, clips, clamps, snaps and the like.
As shown in Figure 19, table 80 includes four receiving members 86 that are located proximate to the four corners of the table. The receiving members 86 can be integrally formed on table table 12 during the blow molding process to form a one-piece structure, or the receiving members can be attached to table table 12. Members 86 of

It will be understood that the receiving members 86 can be positioned at any desired location and the table 12 can include other features such as a channel 54 and / or troughs 60.
The receiving members 86 provide a height adjustment mechanism to selectively increase or decrease the distance between the upper portions 36a, 36b of the legs 30a, 30b of the support assembly 14, allowing the height of the table 80 to be adjusted . The preferred height PkORíLpAO consist of a 3oS! É pivoting joint or member 118 with a connecting member 120 having a first end 122 and a second end 124. The first end 122 of the connecting member 120 is pivotally connected to the Table 12 from the table using a base 123, but any suitable method can be used to attach the first end of the double-jointed member 118 to the table table. The second end 124 of the connecting member 120 is pivotally attached to the upper portion 36a, 36b of the legs 30a, 30b. In this way, the double-jointed members 118 are pivotally connected to the table 12 of the table and the legs 30a, 30b.
As illustrated in Figures 23-26, the lengths of the connecting members 120 are preferably different. That is, one connecting member 120 is preferably longer than the other connecting member. Furthermore, the double-jointed members 118 also allow the upper portions 36a, 36b of the legs 30a, 30b to be positioned in two different positions. In particular, the double-jointed members 118 allow the upper portions 36a, 36b of the legs 30a, 30b to be positioned toward an edge of the table top or toward the center of the table top. Because the double-jointed members 118 allow the upper portions 36a, 36b of the legs 30a, 30b to be positioned at two different locations s and the members

connection preferably have different lengths' ^ allowing the legs to be positioned in four different configurations and the table to have correspondingly different heights.
In greater detail, as shown in Figures 23-26, the first height adjustment member 116a may have a shorter connection member 120 than the second height adjustment member 126b. For example, the length of the connecting member 120 of the first height adjusting member 116a may be approximately half the length of the connecting member of the second height adjusting member 116b. In particular, the length of the first height adjusting member 116a can be from about 2.54cm to 5.08cm (1 to 2 inches), and the length of the second height adjusting member 116b is preferably about 12.7cm to 15.24cm ( 5 to 6 inches), but connecting members can be any suitable length.
Because the double-jointed members 118 can move between two different positions and the connecting members 120 have different lengths, the table can have four different heights. For example, as seen in Figure 23, the first height adjusting member 116a has the upper leg portion 36a 30a disposed toward the center of table 12 and the second

height adjusting member 116b has the upper portion 36b of the leg 30b disposed towards the center of the table top. This creates a table with a maximum height. Figure 24 shows the first height adjusting member 116a having the upper portion 36a of the leg 30a disposed towards the center of the table 12 and the second height adjusting member 116b has the upper portion 36b of the leg 30b arranged towards the edge of the table top. This creates a table with an intermediate height. The
Figure 25 illustrates the first height adjustment member 116a disposed toward the edge of the table top 12 and the second height adjustment member 116b disposed toward the center of the table top to create a table with an intermediate height. Figure 26 shows the first member
Height adjusting 116a and the second height adjusting member 116b disposed toward the edges of table table 12, which creates a table with a minimum height.
Advantageously, height adjusting members 116a, 116b allow table 110 to be easily adjusted to various suitable heights. Significantly, the various heights of table 110 can be predetermined and designed for any suitable purpose. This provides greater flexibility and a wide variety of uses for the table. Furthermore, the height adjusting members 116a, 116b can be used in conjunction with any suitable type of table or support structure.

Accordingly, someone skilled in the art will recognize that various modifications can be made to the height adjusting members 116a, 116b in order to suit the needs of a particular application.
It will also be understood that the table can be constructed with only one height adjustment member 116. For example, one leg 30a, 30b may be attached to table table 12 using a height adjusting member 116 while the other leg is attached to table table 12 using a standard link or pivot connection.
Figures 27 and 28 illustrate another aspect of a personal table 130 that includes a support assembly attached to a table table. The personal table 130 includes a flange 132 and a central area 134 that is generally enclosed by the flange. Four clamps 136 are attached to the bottom surface 18 of table table 12 and the clamps are preferably located at the corners of the table table. The clamps 136 are attached to the table 12 of the table by fasteners such as screws, but any suitable means can be used to connect the

I? E LA A:' TO : 7. Z clamps to the table top. The preferred clamps are elongated members with a slot 136 disposed toward the center of table 12 of the table. The ends of the upper portions 36a, 36b of the legs
30a, 30b are preferably disposed within the opposite grooves and the grooves allow the upper leg potions to slide along the length of the clamp 136. Because both legs 30a, 30b are slidably received within the clamps 136, it will be appreciated that the legs can be configured to adjust the height of table 130. Alternatively, only one leg 30a, 30b can be slidably attached to table table 12 by clamps 136.
Table 130 also includes a height adjustment mechanism 140 to selectively adjust the height of the table by increasing or decreasing the distance between the upper portions 36a, 36b of the legs 30a, 30b. Height adjusting mechanism 140 includes a ratchet assembly 142 that pivotally connects to table 12 on the table. Ratchet assembly 142 includes a gear 144 with a plurality of teeth 146 and a pair of outwardly extending arms 148. Arms 148 are attached to legs 30a, 30b of support assembly 14 via connectors 150 such as elongated rods. Ratchet assembly 142 also includes a wheel pawl 152 which is
INSTITUTE ΜΣλ'Μ.νχ; z -, · Α DELA PROKTDAD <—- /
INDUSTRIAL configures to engage teeth 14 6 in gear 144. Wheel pawl 152 is attached to a lever 154 which is accessible by a user at the outer edge of table 12 of the table.
As shown in Figure 27, the gear 144 can be rotated clockwise to position the upper portions 36a, 36b of the legs 30a, 30b much closer together. Alternatively, as shown in Figure 28, gear 144 can be rotated in a counterclockwise direction and the upper portions 36a, 36b of legs 30a, 30b can be moved separately. Similar to that described above, when the upper portions 36a, 36b of the legs 30a, 30b are spread much closer together, the height of the msa increases. On the other hand, when the upper portions 36a, 36b of the legs 30a, 30b are further apart, the height of the table decreases. It will be appreciated that the ratchet assembly allows the table to have a plurality of different heights.
Although this invention has been described in terms of certain preferred embodiments, other apparent embodiments for those skilled in the art are within the scope of this invention as well. Accordingly, the scope of the invention is intended to be defined only by the following claims.
