Chemical processing with an operational step sensitive to a feedstream component.

The present invention relates to a process for performing an operation that involves at least one component of a fluid stream to provide a product containing the at least one component or a chemical derivative thereof, said fluid stream containing at least another component that is harmful in at least one step of the operation characterized in that it comprises the steps of: a) contacting the fluid stream with a selective adsorbent for the adsorption of the at least one other component, as compared to the at least one component, under adsorption conditions to give an adsorption stage effluent having a reduced concentration of at less another component; b) use the effluent from the adsorption stage in the at least one step of the operation to provide an effluent stream of product; and c) contacting at least a portion of the product effluent stream with the adosrbent having the at least one other component adsorbed therein, under conditions of desorption, to regenerate the adsorbent and provide a desorption stage effluent containing an increased concentration of at least one other component.
