This application is based on U.S. Provisional Application No. 60/226,183, filed on August 18, 2000, U.S. Provisional Application No. 60/238,952, filed on October 10, 2000, and U.S. Provisional Application No. 60, filed on December 15, 2000 /256,086 asserts the merits.
Annotating products used in information systems and objects provide data about an object as it is displayed through an imager that together detects light from multiple coded data sources.
Objects can be in a variety of planned and unplanned configurations, such as store windows, object displays in stores, galleries and museums, and everyday objects in homes and public places.
1 is a diagram schematically illustrating a product.
2 is a diagram illustrating an example of a light from a coded data source.
The Annotation Product is suitable for use in information systems and multiple objects. The product comprises an imager (11) signally connected to an information system (91), a coded data source (31) representing objects of a plurality of objects (81) - a plurality of coded data sources by means of the imager light (32) detected from It contains an annotation signal 22 from the information system to make it available.
As used throughout this specification, "individual" may refer to a variety of entities that may be natural persons as well as living and inanimate, spontaneous and externally synchronous.
Imager 11 has a field of view extending along each of three orthogonal axes. Several coded data sources (member 31) of the plurality of coded data sources are spatially separated in the field of view. The imager together detects light (member 32) from several coded data sources.
As described throughout this specification, "light detection" refers to a specific property of light, such as color band 43, that not only detects the presence of light, but also encodes data so that the imager can output a display signal representing the data. means to detect. Detecting light from multiple data sources together distinguishes bar code readers and imagers that cannot together detect light from multiple spatially separated bar codes.
A light (eg, 41 ) from a first coded data source (member 31 ) of the plurality of coded data sources represents a first object (member 81 ) of the plurality of objects. A first indication signal (component 12) is generated by the imager when light from the first coded data source is selected by the imager. The first display signal indicates a first object. The first indication signal is output by the imager and input to the information system. The individual allows the light to select from the first coded data source by the imager.
The first annotative data associated with the first object may be used in the information system. The first display signal causes the information system to output a first annotation signal (component 22) representing the first annotation data. The first annotation signal is input to the display 21 . The display outputs the first annotation data according to the first annotation signal. The display is visible to the individual.
The imager may be a private imager. The plurality of object-encoded data sources may correspond to object members from the plurality of encoded data sources indicated by 33 on a member-by-member basis. The first coded data source is a first object coded data source of the plurality of object coded data sources. Light from the first object coded data source is selected by data input to the dedicated imager such that a representation of the first object coded data source output by the dedicated imager is selected.
A dedicated imager may be part of a device such as a mobile phone and a computer that may be signally connected to an information system. When the dedicated imager detects light from the first object coded data source, the dedicated imager may output an indication of the first object coded data source. This indication may then be selected by the individual by any of a variety of data input means, such as keystrokes, screen taping, and computer mouse clicks.
The imager may be a public imager. The plurality of personally coded data sources may correspond to individual members among the plurality of coded data sources on a member-by-member basis. A first personally coded data source of the plurality of personally coded data sources is a first coded data source. The first personally coded data source is selected by the imager if the first alignment (component 33) of the first personally coded data source is maintained for a set time.
In the case of such a public imager, the first privately coded data source (eg 41 ) may have a first axis 45 defined as, for example, bands 42 and 44 . The first alignment may be achieved by manipulating the first personally coded data source such that the first axis intersects the first object. The first alignment represents the first object by intersecting the first object.
In the case of a common imager, the plurality of object-coded data sources may also correspond to an object member of the plurality of encoded data sources on a member-by-member basis. The plurality of object-encoded data sources individually represent, on a member-by-member basis, each object of the plurality of objects (component 33).
In this case, the common imager may also detect light from multiple object-coded data sources representing multiple objects. The indication signal may have an object component representing the object. Accordingly, even when the object is moved by internal, external, and a combination thereof, the information system has data for the first object when indicated by the first alignment.
In this case, the first alignment may also be achieved by manipulating the first personal coded data source to indicate a first object coded data source representative of the first object. The first object coded data source may be selected, for example, by darkening at least a portion of at least one of the first personally coded data source color bands 43 .
The information system may be adapted to use one or more of these alignment means. The information system may be adapted such that this sorting means can be obtained by various combinations of all of these sorting means.
In the case of a dedicated imager, many individuals may be operating the dedicated imager. For example, a second individual manipulates a second dedicated imager to produce a second indication signal representative of a second object while a first individual manipulates a first dedicated imager to generate a first indication signal representative of a first object can create The first individual and the second individual may generate a first display signal and a second display signal indicating the same object, which may be the first object or the second object.
The first indication signal from the first dedicated imager may have a first personal component representative of the first dedicated imager, and the second indication signal from the second dedicated imager may have a second personal component representative of the second dedicated imager. may have ingredients. wherein the first personal component and the second personal component enable the first annotative signal and the second annotation signal to have, in particular, a first personal component representing first annotative data relating to the first individual, and the second annotation enable the signal to have a second personal component indicative of annotative data particularly related to the second person.
In the case of public imagers, many individuals may be manipulating many privately coded data sources. A first person coded data source sorted by a first person may have a portion (eg 43 ) representing the first person, and a second person coded data source sorted by a second person representing a second person. As a part, it may have a similar but distinct part.
The first indication signal from the public imager may have a first personal component representative of a first individual, and the second indication signal from the public imager may have a second personal component representative of a second individual. The first personal component and the second personal component enable the first annotative signal and the second annotative signal to have a first personal component indicative of first annotative data relating to the first individual, wherein the second annotation signal In particular, it makes it possible to have a second personal component representing the annotative data associated with the second person.
A display may take any of a variety of forms capable of signal connection to an information system. The display may be a dedicated display in the case of a dedicated imager and in the case of a public imager. The dedicated display may be any of a variety of devices, such as cell phones and computers. The display may be a public display in the case of a public imager and in the case of a dedicated imager. A public display may be a large-scale display that can be perceived by many individuals. The large-scale display may show annotative data assigned to each of many individuals. A public display may be projected at a location proximate to the individual such that such display may be perceived by the individual and also other individuals in close proximity to the individual.
The display may be any combination of two or more of these. The display form can meet the needs and desires of various personal display objects.
The display may be any data output means that can be perceived by an individual, such as visual, auditory and tactile means. The display may be a combination of these means. The display can be achieved by movement of the robot. The data output means can meet the needs and desires of various personal display objects.
The indication signal may have an interrogative component. The elements of a statement can be created by one individual. Many query elements can be created together by many individuals. The inquiry component may request a variety of specific response data for the displayed object, such as inquiries related to merchandise, such as "what colors are available?" and queries related to other displays of the object. The first annotation data may have a response component representing the first response data.
The query component may be generated by an individual operating a dedicated imager to detect light from an object coded data source. Once light from an object coded data source is detected, the imager may provide the individual with the opportunity to create a query component by any of a variety of data input means.
The query component is generated by the individual manipulating the private coded data source so that light from the private coded data source can be detected by the public imager. The personal coded data source may have a form having a color band, that is, a form as shown in FIG. 2 . Thus, the query component may be generated, for example, by darkening at least a portion of at least one of the personally coded data source color bands.
The information system may be adapted to use one or more of these means. The information system may be suitable for generating the query component and optional second query component by various combinations of these means.
If the personal code has a component that identifies an individual, in particular, it can respond to queries with annotative data about objects related to that individual. The imager may be a dual mode imager disclosed in patent application PCT US/01/13742, filed April 30, 2002. The coded data source shown in Figure 2 is a form that works well for this dual mode imager. Bands 42 and 44 retro-reflect infrared light. The locate mode of the dual mode imager detects these bands. The react mode of the dual mode imager detects light from area 43 relative to other light from the field of view. The band 44 is wider than the band 41 defining the direction. You can use different imagers and different types of coded data sources.
The imagerdual mode and otherscan have spatially separated components, thus extending the field of view. Thereby, spatial location measurement of the coded data source can be facilitated. The imager may have multiple elements that selectively detect portions of a range of values of a physical property of light from the coded data source, wherein the different portions detected by the different elements of the imager are physical properties of light without forming an image of the coded data source. combined to detect the full range of
The light from the coded data source is reflected from an ambient source, the light source of the coded data source, light emitted after being activated by suitable radiation, light emitted after being activated by suitable radiation having a characteristic attenuation lifetime, coded data It is possible to have multiple sources, such as a light source adjacent to the imager illuminating the source, and combinations of two or more of these.
Light is not limited to visible light. For example, infrared rays may be used, and light having a wavelength of millimeters or more may be used. Light can be radiant energy from any part of the electromagnetic spectrum that can provide the functions required herein. The meaning of "light" as used herein also includes other forms of radiant energy that may be needed herein, such as, for example, acoustic energy.
The terms "signal" from the first product part to the second product part, and the first product part having "signal connection" means that the state causes a second physical state of the second part of the product. This may occur by several direct causal means, and may occur by any of several transmitting means. The transmitted signal may be any of several point-to-point and broadcast forms of energy transmission, such as wireless and wired, cable, fiber, and the like. Some of the transmit signals may be transmit signals of a first type, others may be transmit signals of a second type, and some may be several combinations of these transmit signals.
The above-mentioned various objects of the present invention may be achieved through any of several processing modes. The processing may use a configuration processing element such as fixed circuits, a configurable processing element such as a field programmable gate array and a neural network, may use instructions in a data recording medium, and may use a combination thereof. . Stand-alone processing may be through a local information system, may be through a networking information system, or a combination thereof. At least in part, the processing may be part of the imager.
