<background-art>
The present invention relates to a session management method in a mobile communication system, and in particular, in a mobile communication system developed to be suitable for efficient use of system resources in a 3rd generation (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System: UMTS) environment. It relates to a session management method.

In general, in the frequency of use of communication networks in any society, packet communication networks lag far behind circuit communication networks. Accordingly, the terminal technology has also been developed focusing on line communication rather than packet communication.

The existing packet-related data transmission consists of extension of line communication, and its operation is briefly described as follows.

First, a line is occupied by using a line communication technique. Then, packet data is transmitted using the occupied line. Therefore, the original meaning of packet communication could not be properly reflected because the radio resource of the system was always occupied until packet data transmission was terminated.

Meanwhile, a terminal related to packet data transmission operating in a 3G UMTS environment has not yet been developed.

1 is a block diagram illustrating packet data processing in an existing second generation general-purpose mobile communication system. Referring to FIG. 1 , in a conventional 2G environment, a mobile terminal transmits a packet using a circuit communication method because it does not have a session management function for processing a control part for packet data transmission. That is, the line occupation occupies the line using the line communication method that provides the existing voice call processing function.

At this time, when the line is occupied, it is determined whether to establish or release the line by examining the bearer capability related to transmission. In addition, when packet data is transmitted, related packet data is transmitted through an occupied line. Next, in case of releasing the line, when the packet data transmission is completed, the corresponding line is released so that other terminals can use it.

Since such a conventional terminal does not have a session management function for processing a control part for packet data transmission, a packet is transmitted using a line communication method. Such a conventional method has a disadvantage in that it must always occupy a line, that is, a radio resource.

In addition, various control functions for packet data transmission are not provided. Because the existing line communication is based on voice, the quality of service control function related to packet data is insufficient, and the negotiation function for protocol matching with the external packet network (PSPDN) and mobility (Mobile IP), which is emerging as a current issue ) function is not provided.

Accordingly, it cannot be regarded as providing a true packet data transmission function because only a minimum function for conventional packet data transmission is provided. And, at present, a terminal providing a packet data transmission function in a 3G UMTS environment has not yet been developed.
</background-art><tech>
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION An object of the present invention is to solve the problems of the prior art mentioned above and to meet the expectations of users mentioned above, and a 3rd Generation Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) An object of the present invention is to provide a session management method in a mobile communication system that can provide functions for starting and ending packet data transmission in the environment, controlling quality of service (QoS) related to packet data transmission, and controlling protocol matching with an external packet network. .
</tech>

In order to achieve the above object, the session management method in the mobile communication system according to the present invention,

requesting, by a specific terminal equipment, to initiate a packet call to a specific mobile terminal;

performing a function according to the packet call processing request signal in the mobile terminal, and transmitting a protocol message corresponding to the function to the mobile switch;

when the mobile terminal receives a response signal indicating that packet data can be transmitted from the mobile switch, notifying the terminal equipment; The terminal equipment receives the response signal and transmits the corresponding packet data.

Hereinafter, it will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings.

2 is a block diagram for explaining packet data processing in the third generation general-purpose mobile communication system according to the present invention.

Referring to FIG. 2 , a universal mobile communication system (UMTS) includes a third-generation mobile terminal (MT) 60 and a third-generation mobile switchboard (SGSN) to which a terminal equipment (TE) 50 is connected. Serving GPRS Support Node, GGSN: Gateway GPRS Support Node) 70 .

In such a general-purpose mobile communication system, a packet session is created to check various items necessary for packet data transmission and to provide related functions. Packet session is a function to inspect the quality of service related to packet data transmission, a protocol configuration negotiation function for protocol matching negotiation between the terminal equipment and an external packet network, and a dynamic packet data protocol address ) assignment request function and the function to request the external packet network to be connected by name, etc. are included, and the same packet address as the already created session and processing function when using the external packet network are also provided.

Also, it provides a function for terminating packet data transmission and deleting the corresponding session. In this case, when the session is deleted, the related data structure is initialized. In addition, it provides a function to simultaneously delete a session using the same packet address and external packet network as the already created session.

In addition, it provides a packet session modification function that can change the quality of service and packet transport protocol of an already created packet session. In addition, it provides a function to process the dynamic packet address requested when creating a packet session when it is assigned from an exchange or an external packet network.

As described above, since various functions related to packet data transmission are provided separately from the existing line communication method, packet data can be transmitted efficiently.

Hereinafter, a session management procedure in a mobile communication system according to the present invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings.

First, a packet call start is requested through the terminal equipment 50 connected to the mobile terminal 60 . That is, the packet data processing protocol mounted on the terminal equipment 50 communicates with the packet processing protocol mounted on the mobile terminal 60 while transferring the packet call processing request to the session management block mounted on the mobile terminal 60 .

The session management block mounted on the mobile terminal 60 identifies the corresponding procedure according to the packet call processing request signal and performs each function accordingly. That is, the session management block handles the quality of service for packet data transmission. If the terminal equipment 50 requests dynamic packet address allocation, a corresponding function is performed. The functions performed in this way are generated as a corresponding protocol message and transmitted to the mobile exchange (70).

When the session management block receives a response that packet data can be transmitted from the mobile switch 70, it notifies the terminal equipment 50 so that the packet data is transmitted.

Subsequently, the terminal equipment 50 transmits the corresponding packet data after being notified that the packet data can be transmitted.

In this case, if it is desired to change the packet data transmission-related quality of service and packet transmission protocol, the packet session modification is requested through the terminal equipment 50 connected to the mobile terminal 60 . That is, the packet data processing protocol mounted on the terminal equipment 50 processes a necessary procedure while communicating with the packet processing protocol mounted on the mobile terminal 60 , and transfers the procedure to the session management block mounted on the mobile terminal 60 . transmit

Next, the session management block mounted on the mobile terminal 60 identifies the corresponding procedure and performs a corresponding function. The function performed in this way is generated as a corresponding protocol message and transmitted to the mobile exchange (70).

Then, upon receiving a response to the packet session modification request from the mobile switching unit 70 , the session management block notifies the connected terminal equipment 50 .

Then, when the session is terminated after the packet data transmission is completed, the terminal equipment 50 requests the mobile terminal 60 to terminate the session. That is, the packet data processing protocol mounted on the terminal equipment 50 processes a necessary procedure while communicating with the packet processing protocol mounted on the mobile terminal 60 , and transfers the procedure to the session management block mounted on the mobile terminal 60 . transmit

Next, the session management block mounted in the mobile terminal 60 generates a protocol message for session termination and transmits it to the mobile exchange 70 .

Accordingly, when the mobile terminal 60 receives a response to the packet session termination request from the mobile switch 70, it notifies the terminal equipment 50 of this so that it can perform the termination procedure, and internally initializes the related data structure. do.

According to the session management method in the mobile communication system according to the present invention described above, it is possible to provide a packet session management function of a terminal operating in a 3G UMTS environment. Accordingly, each terminal can efficiently transmit packet data in the 3G UMTS environment, and thus, there is an effect that the entire radio resource can be efficiently used.
