Automatic exposure single frame imaging systems
Abstract
(57) [Summary] The auto-exposure image system is operated on a single-frame image acquisition basis and applies a single-chip CMOS type structure. For read data formats such as 2D barcodes and matrix codes, the system can provide automatic gain control, automatic exposure control, automatic focus detection and single-frame image and decoding, but with less power consumption. The fixed focal length sensor element array assembly and optical distance sensing allow automatic initiation of exposure when the image is in focus. The exposure provided by image illumination is automatically controlled by sensing the cumulative level of reflected light during the exposure period. Alternatively, the exposure time is obtained from the survey table based on the level of reflected light during the first illumination period of the fixed period. Whether the system ends or continues automatically depends on whether the data format is successfully decrypted. Power savings are made by terminating the read with a successful decryption. Also described are related methods described, such as the use of a complete light handheld reader and a transmission card for decrypted data format information.

Description: TECHNICAL FIELD [Detailed description of the invention]
Auto-exposure single frame image system Technical field The present invention is a system for reading data such as barcodes and matrix codes. It is related to the method and method, especially for single frame imaging. It is related to the video system that uses a, which is automatic exposure and automatic gain. It provides controls and autofocus sensing. Background technology Various types of sensor array scanners are available in 2D barcodes and matrix Although they have provided more complex readings of scords, these sensor array skis The channelers are all continuous frame scanners, and therefore have high power consumption. I was worried about the cost. Many sensor array scanners are portable and have a battery Because it was used, it is portable, single frame and consumes less power, so electricity There was a need for a device that would extend the life of the pond. Also, accuracy, reliability, and small size And lightweight was required. Data format background The application and use of barcodes and matrix codes is well known and evolving. To. Barcodes and matrix codes are in the form of "data formats", which are currently For the purpose of, the data is fixed in the form of a machine-readable copy. It is to stipulate that all systems with and should be included. In this way, the data format is language , 1 or 2D barcodes, matrix codes, as well as numbers and other symbols, and Includes graphic code, but it's paper, plastic cards and metal and other Printed or etched on top of the object. Data format is invisible ink, magnetism Printed with qi, electricity and other things. With the use of data formats, initially symbolized data is restored in various ways. .. For example, a printed barcode is optically scanned to obtain a reflectance value, which is Digitized, stored in buffer memory, and then barcoded It is decrypted to restore the data that was symbolized inside. Special data format Ignoring about ip, the image is especially obtained, and pixels for the next processing It is stored as a value. The image of barcode and matrix code is a graphic image Existing, but with a CCD scanner, laser scanner, or other suitable Obtained by using the device, it is the different reflection value of the light reflected from the data format Has the ability to discriminate between. For example, like this, a barcode is an element of a barcode. Printed on a white or light colored background with white or black space between Forming a black or dark bar type element. Space is the same color as the background However, different bright colors may be used in this example. In another example, a barcode or The elements of the matrix code are white or light color, and black or darker color space And the background is limited. In other examples, such as engraving a laser on a silicon wafer, the result of illumination is one. Dark on a bright relationship in the direction of, and bright on a dark relationship in a different direction It will be. In addition to the pixel value indicating the reflection value of light ("light" is all electricity In other arrays (which we will include magnetic waves for this purpose), the pixel value of the reflection value is displayed. May be based on the reflection of sound waves, or other medium from a well-structured data format It may be the body. In an arrangement that is designed to read based on the reflection value, such reflections Values are bitmapped into video buffer memory or other storage media as pixel values Or it is stored in other forms, but on the other hand, the display of pixel values for video is any data storage. A warehouse format may be used. Sensor array reader background As pointed out, traditional arrays that read data formats are laser or continuous flare. It was based on a CCD scanner that used a two-dimensional barcode. Deer However, these efforts are implemented, low power consumption, low price, fast and accurate 2D de. There were a few restrictions in the pursuit of a reader to read the data format. For example, continuous The frame reader consumes a lot of power, which means that it is a continuous frame structure. Because there is a need for the sensor array to continuously create image data. Is. When the microprocessor decrypts the barcode, it is a continuous image To decipher from the data flow, you only have to select where you need it. Full frame advances for continuous frame moving video and high resolution Scan CCD devices are expensive, oversized configurations, high power consumption and slow gain response I needed one or two times. These were practically constrained. The object of the present invention is therefore a new modification that avoids one or more of the disadvantages mentioned above. It is to provide a reader with a good data format. In addition, an imaging system capable of providing one or more of the following is also intended. Is. one. Low power consumption one. Single frame imaging one. Automatic exposure control one. Rapid automatic gain control one. Automatic focusing sensing and reading one. Lightweight and hand-carryable structure Disclosure of invention According to the present invention, a data format reader for reading the data format of the target surface. Auto-exposure imaging systems such as-include many sensor elements. sensor The element is readable to create an image signal, and at least of that element Some are located in a two-dimensional array. Transmission from the exposure illuminator to the illuminator, And an optical fiber that is effective in reducing transmission in other parts of the surrounding optical spectrum. The filter is located on the entire surface of the array. A pair of focal illuminators is a data format Features in size, brightness, and location that change with distance between the dar and the target surface It is arranged so as to illuminate the target surface together with the surface of the light to be called. The read cycle operates the focal illuminator, and of the selected sensor elements Started by a user trigger device that is arranged to start reading .. The in-focus state detector, which responds to image signals from multiple sensor elements, is an illuminated surface. Provides a "focused" signal when characterized by at least one of the following points: It is arranged so that it can be used. The following points are (a) Size within the specified size range (b) Brightness within the specified brightness range (c) Places within the specified range The gain controller requires at least a sensor during the period following the focus signal. Responds to the level of reflected light indicated by the image signal from one of the elements, but the image message It seems to control the number amplification. Although the exposure controller responds to image signals from at least one of the sensor elements , A "start" signal in response to the above focus signal from the above target plane In response to a given level of reflection of the illumination, it issues a "stop" signal of the image data Allows single frame collection. At least one exposed illuminator is in focus Target surface in response to a signal and for an exposure period determined by the exposure controller It is arranged to illuminate. The data format reader also includes a memory unit, which is Teaming up with a, and memorizing the image data display of the image signal, and processing The unit is combined with the memory unit to convert the stored image data into a data format. It is arranged so that it can be decrypted. The processing unit is also selected Data format for reading sensor elements and continuous decoding of the data format Create an end cycle signal that is effective in ending the operation of the expression reader cycle And create an output signal display of the decrypted data format information in combination with the output device. It is arranged like this. The reading of the sensor element is the coupling of the input power or Is at least one of the clock signal preparations that makes the sensor read timing control Stopped by one end, it is to save power. As mentioned above, it became clear with the understanding of the data format reader. The system according to the invention is automatic gain control, automatic exposure, automatic focusing detection, single focus. There are other features such as ram imaging. operation By the way, FIG. 6 shows a flowchart for operating the image system using the invention. It is shown. In step 100, the user is in the data format 10 shown in Figure 1B. Move the rigger device 14. In step 104, the surrounding illuminator 50 and the in-focus illuminator 5 2 is added and the sensor reading begins. At step 106, the user -Adjusts the distance between the data format reader 10 and the target surface to the range shown in Figure 4. Try to have a separation distance within 72, but at that point the planes of illumination intersect, and thin The smaller, brighter side of the guru also turns into a point of illumination with a central location. Step In P108, the in-focus state reached in step 106 is characterized by at least one of them. It will be monitored if it is collected. (a) The size is within the specified size range (b) Brightness is within the specified brightness range (c) The location is within the specified location For the two round dots of lighting, the dots thus focus, and this smallest magnitude When the state of sickness is detected by various methods, it becomes concentric. Such changes in the lighting surface When reached as a feature, the "focused" signal is activated in step 10 and dew. All lights on the out array are turned on. When the exposure illuminator is attached, the exposure controller sends a start signal to the sensor array. Send to assembly 20 but it resets the cumulative charge on the sensor to the reference charge It is effective to do. The optical sensor is new as immediately pointed out in step 11. Starts accumulating new charges. At the same time, the exposure control device and the gain control device are periodically changed. The charge accumulated on the photodetector sample is measured in steps 113 and 114. The gain control device in step 113 uses sample image data and has an appropriate size. Select the signal branched from the gain and the sensor array amplification in the array control unit 28. Apply to the vessel. In step 114, the exposure controller modifies the sample image data. And the sample image data shows that the level of reflected light from the target surface is cumulative. The exposure controller stops when it points out that it has reached a certain level on the product basis. Generate a signal. In response to the stop signal, the accumulated charge on the exposure sensor is measured and the voltage signal Converted to issue. Known sensor arrays that use a two-dimensional array of photosensitive cells The type is that the sensor element is grounded to the reference voltage level during the exposure period. , Charges are allowed to accumulate. So, according to the reading process, all or Or the selected cells are sampled at the same time and the cumulative charge is measured, but then the day The data is temporarily stored, and then continuously from the row using the shift register array. Read into rows. In step 115, the cell already needs a read When there is nothing, the exposure lighting is turned off. But if additional cells are read If possible, in this example the system would be step 112 and step 113. Will return to. The exposure controller then generates a start signal and the next guru Start the exposure period on the cell of the loop, it reads at the end of the exposure period Be done. After reading the complete frame, the system steps from step 115 Proceed to step 116, at which point the exposure lighting is turned off. In step 117, processor unit 80 is digitized and stored in memory. Image data consisting of image signals from array assembly 20 stored in unit 82 Start decoding the data format using the data. If the decryption is successful, step 11 The data format information decrypted in 8 is useful for transmission from the data format reader 10. And the cycle end signal is issued, the input power and the array control unit Read by cutting at least one of the clock signals used in 28 Kuru ends. If the decryption is unsuccessful, read in step 117. Kuru is restarted or step 104 is repeated as shown in FIG. It will be a return start. There is something to note in step 117. If the data format is the fact target side If it is in the image of, it needs to be placed in a place in the image where the data format can be deciphered. is there. This matter is indicated in the "2-D barcode positioning" of the US application. To. Same as before, but with an image method that utilizes an image with an array of sensing elements Includes all or some of the following steps. (a) Transmit the light from the exposed illuminator in front of the array, and of the surrounding light spectrum Put an optical filter that is effective in reducing transmission in other parts; (b) Selected sensor providing the input power and clock signal required for reading -Start reading elements (c) Of size, brightness and location that vary with the distance between the array and the target surface Illuminate a target surface with an illuminated surface characterized by at least one Ru; (d) The size within the specified size range, and the brightness within the specified brightness range. And at least one of the locations within a given location characterizes the surface of the illumination Adjusting this distance, which causes (e) The image signal from at least one sensing element is illuminated in step (d). Providing a focused signal when pointed out to be characterized as described; (f) Turn on the exposure illuminator in response to the focus signal; (g) Using the image signal from the selected sensing element as an indication of the level of reflected light , Supplying a gain control signal that controls the amplification of the image signal from the array; (h) The image signal from at least one sensing element is the illumination from the target surface. Creating a stop signal when a given level of reflection is pointed out; (i) Turn off the exposure illuminator after full exposure of the sensor cell; (j) Shows image signals from an array that has been digitized and stored in memory To process the image data to decipher the data format; (k) Upon successful decoding of the data format, signal the end of the cycle and the sensor Read is terminated with at least one end of the input power and clock signal And then couple the decrypted data format information with the I / O module And (l) If the decryption is unsuccessful, repeat from step (d). FIG. 7 is a flowchart corresponding to the second specific example of the present invention. Step From 100 to step 108 is the same as before. Focusing in step 108 After determining the condition and generating a focused signal, the exposure illuminator will expose this sample. Attached to the period, and image data is collected in step 122. like this Therefore, the exposure control device generates a sample exposure start signal, which is selected by it. The photosensor is placed at the reference charge and sampled to start accumulating charge. .. At the end of this exposure period, the exposure control device, some of which are simply tied for this purpose. Although it is a mer, it generates a stop signal, and each selected sensor by it The sample cumulative charge above is read as image data. In step 124 The exposure controller is adjustable in response to the image data collected during sample exposure. Determine the effective exposure period. As discussed, the appropriate exposure period is the exposure unit in Figure 5. Accumulating and ending image data from selected sensors via 64a The voltage is determined by referring to the survey table stored in the memory 82a. The level of reflected illumination is the reflectance of the target surface, among other factors. Therefore, it can be evaluated that it can be decided. Such reflectance is higher than expected depending on the surface structure and color condition. Or low. Therefore, controlling the gain of the image signal from the array is dew. It is as desirable as the departure period. This result shows the gain unit 60a in Fig. 5. After that, accumulate image data from the selected sensor elements and make a note of the signal display. It can be obtained by referring to the survey table in Li 82a, which is during this first period. Gives a value for adjusting the image signal output gain for a special level of reflected illumination Eh. Figure 7 shows step 126, which uses sample image data. Determine the appropriate gain adjustment and apply it to the output amplifier of the sensor array assembly Is to be. In step 128, the device is a single frame of image data. To capture. As discussed above, if the sensor array is all optical sensor cells Is collated, exposed, and sampled in parallel to complete a frame of data Once configured to generate, step 128 is the only grounding cycle, dew. It consists of the output and sampling of the cumulative charge on the cell. Step 30 Then the exposure illuminator is turned off. If the optical sensor array is the sensor element of choice If only read in parallel in a single cycle, the exposure controller will be on the dotted line 12 As pointed out in 8, many start and stop corresponding to the predetermined exposure time It will generate a signal. After collecting the complete frames of the data, step 13 At 0, the exposure lighting is turned off. If the shape of the data continues to be decrypted in step 132 Then the data transmission and reading cycle is the input power used in the array controller. Includes at least one end of the force and clock signal, and step 13 Proceed to 4. The simplicity and effect of the operation are automatic gain control, automatic shutterless exposure control and automatic focusing. Increased by sensing the condition. The operational advantage is full accuracy, on a single frame It is a complete frame imaging, automatic exposure basis and is irrelevant to the surrounding light level. The required gain adjustment is perceived in times on the order of 100 microseconds. With single frame imaging, continuous image data is transferred, and data processing is avoided Is done. In addition to the application of handling by hand, the system according to the invention is simple. It is simple, inexpensive, reliable, and highly useful in many other areas. For those who are competent in this field, improvements are made without leaving the invention. You might think that all the improvements and modifications in Claim are within the scope of this invention. Emphasizes that.
