Description: TECHNICAL FIELD [Detailed description of the invention]
Agent-based instruction system and method Technical field to which the invention belongs The present invention is desired to be performed on a networked computer. Interactive, adaptive, personalized, computer-assisted student education Regarding the system and method for. In particular, this system and method is for each student, for each student. Monitor educational behavior, respond to teacher instructions, control educational progress, and live All of them are one form of virtual instructor, including the agent for the student who guides the students. To compose. The visible on-screen aspects of this agent can be ordered. It is desirable to include a multimedia representation personality that can be created, which is a further addition to the virtual instructor. Aspects are configured. Technical background The use of computers in education is suitable for each student, i.e. individual system Effectively integrating the system into the current classrooms of elementary and junior high schools, which cannot supply the system Can't, and can't take advantage of technological advances, etc. Has been limited due to problems with. Over the last 30 years, many interactive education technologies have been developed. Although run on pewter, all of these systems recognize the individuality of each student Lack of ability to adapt. The common motivation for interactive teaching technology is individual Student interaction is more passively exposed to a fixed pace presentation It was recognized that it encouraged learning more than anything else (co-authored by Crick et al., 1986). Year "Effects of Computer-Based Adult Learning, Meta-Analysis" Education Computer Research Journal No. 2, pp. 235-252, co-authored by Crick et al., 198 3rd year "Effects of computer-based learning education in junior high school students" Educational psychology Academic Journal No. 775, pp. 19-26). There are many types of interactive teaching techniques currently available With, for example, programmed education, master learning, audio Tutoring, direct education, personalized system of education, accurate education, eloquence learning, other Etc. (Ingleman et al., 1982 "Educational Theory, Principles and Applications", New Yo Irbington, UK; Keller, 1968 "Goodbye Teacher ..." Behavioral Analytics Journal No. 1, pp. 79-89; by Lindsley, 1990, "Precise Education, Children By Teachers for Exceptional Children's Education, No. 22, pp. 353-359; West et al., 1992, "Design for Excellence in Education, BF Skina Leftovers, pp. 147-160, Solis West, Longmon, Colorado G). Some systems are computers for these interactive teaching techniques I have tried to take advantage of the dialogue performance of. For example, initially based on text Programmed education is converted to computer format and timeshare It was run on the ring system. This early advance was a computer-based tray More selected computer assistance, also known as Ning ("CBT") Extended by education ([CAI]). In CAI, for example, computers act as educational devices. The program is teaching Show the display of education, receive student reactions, edit those reactions and make decisions Then, branch according to the student's reaction, give feedback to the student, and record the student's development. Record and store. An example of a CAI system is Carbonell, 1970, "CAI." AI in , Artificial Intelligence Approach to Computer Assisted Instruction , Man -IEEE Bulletin on Machine Systems, No. 11, pp. 190-202; 1984 "National CAI" 4th Jerusalem Conference on Information Technology Bulletin, pp. 418-424; by Seidel, 1971; co-authored by Coffman et al., 1975 Year "Artificial Intelligence and Artificial Programming in the CIA", Artificial Intelligence, No. 6, 21 Pp. 5-234, is included. Effective CA for a limited number of special problems I Teaching Materials are special to support educational developers who have the role of designing teaching materials. It has developed to have a "creative language". U.S. Pat. Nos. 5, 310, 349 It is an example of a CAI system such as. However, existing CAI systems are not suitable for students. These cis Tem is simply based solely on student achievements during the current lesson, and has recently responded. Students through teaching materials, using only parameters such as answers and precondition patterns It is only connected to. These systems are used for past achievements of students, other coaches. Wider range of things like student achievements, student learning styles and student interests Do not collect or use information about student characteristics. A more serious flaw is that the current CAI system does not recognize the characteristics of individual students. That is to say. Respond to student style without being individualized Not at all. As such, these systems would be unmatched in personal education. It ignores the role of a human instructor, which is so important. Human instructor schedule Organize and prioritize, moderate reinforcement and knowledge of student abilities and preferences Help students maintain their interests through knowledge. Human instructor observes and makes errors Coping with patterns and coherent ways of interacting across a wide range of disciplines and behaviors maintain. In addition, human teachers have a cognitive, personal and social aspect of the teaching situation. Effectively integrate voices. In other words, human teachers are student styles and educational appointments. Prepare a level of personalization based on the requirements of the task. In addition, human teachers are personalized By accepting the education provided, collecting data and providing detailed reports Provide teachers with fair and effective interactions. The sophistication of these effective human teachers If you fail to handle the services and roles that meet your needs, the current CAI system will take your students away. It completely fails to keep it in place, and thus fails to teach as well. In addition, a further problem with computer assisted instruction is the setting, especially in elementary and junior high schools. On the other hand, it is not well integrated into the rest of the school's other curriculum, and Often the quality of the teaching materials is not good. About application to elementary and junior high school Two major educational computer usage patterns predominate and are generally today Shows that is the result of a compromise. In one pattern, the integrated learning system Mu ([ILS]) is a special equipment, from grade 1 to grade 6, or perhaps Reading, math, related topics, spelling, writing, and other words up to grade 8 or 9. Used in schools to teach the basic elements of language skills (EPIE Bulletin, 1) 990 "Integrated Education System, Evaluation", Educational Product Information Exchange, Han, NY Puton Bay). The paradox of this pattern is presented by these systems Students' work with ILS is exactly the same in the classroom, regardless of the quality of education It has little to do with what is going on in the same topic. The underlying reason Diversity of student progress, or CAI curriculum and class texts, teaching materials And teachers are unable to influence or respond adequately to their association with activities There is something that cannot be done. This is a result of ILS equipment on the development and grades of each student. This is the case even when reporting in detail. The second pattern of computer use in schools is individual on a particular topic. Another pattern used in short units (TESS Bulletin, 1996, "Education" Software System Database, Educational Product Information Exchange, NY Hampton Bay). These are hypercard programs, simulations, and May be a game and is usually separate from the basic class curriculum. When The paradox here is that these products are usually strong, although some are of the highest quality. It is the main structure of school-related education, which is selected for the purpose of conversion and can be optional. It cannot be considered a component. Records are not kept or with student achievements Must not be. These programs have not made a significant contribution to school education. Finally, the Computer Assisted Instruction System is an agent-based system, In the last 4 years as a client-server system and network system We have ignored or not used significant advances in computer technology across the board. Current Currently, the field of activity is a wide range of activities from research to commercial use, but educational and guidance Pioneering the use of agent-based systems in work like homework It has not been. Software system for intelligent agents, travel arrangements, E Email management, meeting appointments, asset portfolio management, from the internet It is used successfully for information gathering (Maez, 1994, "Excessive work and information" Agents to reduce "ACM Communication, No. 37, pp. 30-40). In all these applications, the software agent is the user Just by receiving general instructions from-, you can reach the details with considerable independence and independence. Do the work and perform the mission on behalf of the user. Client-server system On the system, these agents are on the client, on the server, or both. But it can work. Recently, adaptive and personalized agent-based systems have begun to be developed. Meta. Agents learn from experience and include adaptive agents The system has new technologies that are continuously confirmed and is creating advantages. Adaptation Sexual agents are new, commercially viable and adaptable systems, Allows it to run across networks. In these systems, A Gent is an "intermediary", and its function is left in the agent itself. Mediate relationships in a way that is understood. The agent is a "substitute" for the user The user does not have to operate the network directly. Educational application In Yong, an agency that serves two users, a school system and individual students. There are needs that do not match. It is familiar with teaching assistants / private professors It is a role that is being played. In 1994, Maes et al. Used the metaphorical expression of agent. Personal assistant, learning important characteristics of the user and adapting to their behavior Expanded to metaphorical expressions as agents. Is the agent an observer, a user? Accepting their feedback, accepting instructions from users, and "similar issues" You can learn by mixing means such as making inquiries to other agents. Individual Combining the important characteristics of the ability, trust and deep understanding that an assistant should have In order to get the agent in contact with relevant data, it is important in a reliable way Show the facts and give the user a personal and basic empathy as well as a fun way Should be involved. An approach to the creation of agents with personal characteristics It has begun to be cultivated. In this work, related techniques are used to describe emotions. It can be seen in the film animator's method of giving Lactor a phantom life. In addition, the Computer Assisted Instruction system is just a coincidence and a client service. Developed bar system and network technology. Of client-server system The structure has emerged as the principle structure of distributed computer systems. High performance The client system operating under the windowed operating system is Advanced objects, including high-speed graphics, animation and audio output Can support eject-based software applications. The server is Centralize or distribute several gigabytes of data and programs at a very reasonable cost You can memorize it in the place where you did it. Object priority database system Has evolved to store structured data on servers. All client systems that have changed significantly since just a few years are now virtual High-performance graphics, sound and at least limited video playback Has multimedia performance including functions. Text-to-speech software Available for use in these systems, speech recognition software is low cost We are on the verge of commercial widespread acceptance on the platform. new New document creation tools include multimedia presentations and corresponding sequential Graphic means for generating computer-based teaching materials with logic Port. The client and server are connected even if they are separated, which increases convenience and co-operation. The strike decreases. The Internet connects computers and is effective Provides communication and access to information and other resources such as software It has emerged as a way to provide a cheaper way to seth. In addition, the inter -Hyperlinks to the development of the Internet, which has made the Internet truly international H for platform-independent access to multimedia information TML and HTTP protocols, and Internet application programs JAVA provides platform-independent software for miningTMA programming language is included. Intranet, which is part of the internet Disseminate information and within a single school system or a legal entity created It is becoming an increasingly important means of enabling communication. Existing CAI systems do not address these functional deficiencies and are of existing technology. It doesn't take advantage of the possibilities. I-system provides responsive, adaptive, and independent instructions About their connections and interactions to show and play the role of virtual instructor explain. 5-1-1 Functional components In view of the above objectives and benefits, Figure 1 shows the key characters in the ABI system. It shows the main functional components. These are material engines as a whole 102, agent software 108, student data object 109 Including, they are all related to Student 101 and also Teachers and Administrators 106, Figure 2. Interact with each other via a computer network, which will be described later, Student 101 Create a virtual teacher for. Student 101 is usually enrolled in a school or similar institution Be one of the many students who are doing it. At the heart of the ABI system is each student A virtual instructor personalized to the students, this is the Student Data Object 109 Also formed by making the agent software 108 work with Therefore, the characteristics and tasks of student 101 are also memorized and set by the teacher and manager 106. To standardize. Although not shown in Figure 1, other characters can also be involved in special applications. For example, in the case of elementary and secondary education processes, this is the case with parents. Material engine 102 is an instructional unit, homework assignment And present educational content such as a test for Student 101. Education content is professor Material data 114, communication material data 104, tool data 115 Including. Instructional material data 14 is well known to our employees Includes computer-based instructional materials that are similar to However, importantly, the notation is used to increase the use of the present invention. Materials also include computers in mathematics, dictionaries in writing, and o for research. Limited instructional mates such as online reference sources Real is included. In addition, the material includes communication material data 104. In rare cases, communication with other students 105 may be restricted according to the purpose of instruction. To provide. For this purpose, for example, a fast-paced student teaches another student. Or, a few students in one possible instructional material lesson Will do joint work or hold an educational contest such as spelling competition Can be mentioned. Further, the present invention is another embodiment that works with the framework of FIG. Also in the material of, as shown by arrow 111, in into the agent software It is also applicable only to turfing, which is a limitation of the present invention. Useful for used usage. For example, the materials suitable for childcare content are the above 3 They differ from the two classes in that they probably have different examples of interaction. Interactions 103 between students and materials 103 composition and courses in educational psychology and sound It is desirable to be managed by the model of educational practice by As, 1982, by Engriman et al., New York, Irving It is discussed in Ton Publishing's "Teaching Theory: Principles and Applications". First level So, for example, during homework or class, Student 101 makes a request and material engine N Receive a response from 102, then the material engine makes a request to student 1 It is possible to receive a response from 01. Material engine 102 is a student The sequence can be adjusted according to the response of. At the next level, with students Requests and responses exchanged between material engines are computer-based Follow some patterns known to those skilled in the art in the instructions of They include, for example: First, students become a material engine Can respond to more suggested requests, but in the middle of the response, advice And hints, or the use of a calculator, or other related assistance can be sought. To. Second, students take the current item, lesson, or unit correctly. Then you can move on to the next item, lesson, or unit. Third, make a mistake If so, the student will need the appropriate retake, review, or repair material from himself. It can be requested or automatically presented. Finally, a higher level Then, the pattern of these interactions is analyzed and the response is more adaptive than the system. The answer will be given. Teachers and managers 106 also have several purposes, as indicated by arrow 107. Therefore, it interacts with the material engine 102. For example, teachers are current materials , Add additional items, change the current item, change the order of item display Eh, notation (see below) Customization by changing management agent interactions, etc. Can be made to. Teachers for one class, for groups, or just You can create limited material examples suitable for one student To. In addition, even if it is desirable to report student progress in a different way, it is an alternative. In a typical example, the material engine tells teachers and managers about student progress. You can report directly. For example, generate a message for a teacher You can do this, for example by entering the notation. Also, pedagogy designers should not create materials for use in the present invention. That is, you can "write". Such materials are original May be taken from current textbooks, workbooks, or media materials It doesn't matter. Standardized curriculum, preliminary tests such as standardized tests, review tests, and Standard textbooks can also be adopted. For interactive instructions Writing instructional material in the right course is generally not Make decisions about objects for display to students, consisting of several stages And to arrange these objects in order and interact with the agent Is included. The "first" stage is to carry out the educational content to be displayed to the students. It is the choice of the object. Objects include text, graphics, and anime Visual display items such as movies or movies, and listening such as audio, TV audio, etc. Includes sensation items. Select button, set of choices, input text, high Like pertext, hypermedia links, features that work with student input, etc. , May include input items well known in computer technology. "No. 2" The stage selects the logic of the sequence to display the objects in order to the students And the selection of educationally appropriate responses to student requests and responses. .. The rationale for the sequence is that the agent soft, like the command to increase the weight of the example. Refer to the instruction control set by the software 108, but see details first. As mentioned above, it is desirable to be selected from the viewpoint of the principle and practice of educational psychology. .. The "third" stage is a student agent, an important component of the ABI system. Or to define the interaction with the virtual instructor. This definition is Sequen This is done by increasing the logic of the object by "notation", and the object is being presented. -Referenced, called, or executed by Kens's counsel, and preferred practice In the example, it communicates with the agent by exchanging messages. ABI system In the program, the agent will guide the course of instruction on the interaction of the students. By knittering, the student's pedagogical features, in other words, the student's perception Make an adaptive model of your style. Notation is for this monitoring It is a means. Finally, a book written to make the material available Terials are indexed and stored in ABI system files , Desirably stored in the material server system. ABI writing tools, notation is presented to the material, agent software A traditional inn that allows Ear to update student data objects Unlike the writing of constructive materials, instructions, student tsu Monitor and modify usage or communication tasks. ABI writing tools are now Supports converting row materials to ABI instruction format And make it easy. As explained earlier, the agent that is unique to each student 101 is A. Important in BI systems. Student agents are students that are unique to each student Consists of agent software 108 with data object 109. When the agent software monitors the student's instructions Build an adaptive student model for student data object 109. This model Under the guidance of Le, Agent Software 108 is primarily a student instructor. It works to manage or control actions, and secondly the entire ABI system is a life Providing education to students by designing conditions that best suit their development abilities, skills, and tastes Work to guide students directly so that they can. In other words, the agent Virtual teacher by acting as a student's personal and independent teacher Will be. First, the agent is a material engineer, as indicated by arrow 111. Material data 104, 114, 115 are provided through interaction with 102. By directly controlling the material engine 102 in showing the students Manage or control 101 instructions. Agent is Materi It is desirable to manage or control the Al engine in two ways, When the material engine encounters the appropriate notation in the data, the agent request Material data presentation when performing an est and waiting for an agent response How to work synchronously with, and the material engine queries at the decision point When the agent software adjusts the control parameters It is a method that operates synchronously with the indication. An example of synchronous control is an instrument. The tactical material is the agent, the student uses the tool, or the hin Asking for permission to receive or get corrections, or communication Shin Material communicates with agents and students communicate with someone else in a particular type It is fried to ask for permission to allow them to do so. In the example of asynchronous control, student teaching The core used by the material engine to adjust the presentation according to its educational characteristics The agent sets pedagogical parameters such as ching parameters Is fried. The exemplary coaching parameters include practice time pages. Includes the seeding rate of the new concept, and the weight of the example. This person By law, agents observe and judge students, the pedagogical characteristics of each student. According to the optimized value of the cognitive style, the material is interactive Present the instructions. Second, the agent software 108 is a student, as indicated by arrow 112. Guide students directly by communicating with. Two student communications It is desirable that it is done by the method of How to make a meta request directly to the teacher and receive a meta response, the second asynchronous action The agent instructor himself responded to an instructional event. There is a way to generate a meta-response. Here, the request and response are those Is preset by the "meta" when is exchanged directly with the agent. Meta In the request, the student's question to the agent, for example, "How is it done?" Suka? , "What should I do next?", "Can you tell me another way?" .. Or a student request, such as "Please give me a hint", "Tell me I. ] Etc. are included. The agent responds to each student's question or request .. Agent meta-responses, for example, take time for students to complete exercises When it takes too much, when the student makes mistakes many times in a row, or when the student is doing well It is generated when it is. Agent mega response, attention, encouragement, enhancement , Paraphrased, jokes, progress summaries, etc. Agent meta-response to communication with agent indicated by arrow 112 Contains a direct student meta-request to generate. Other communications are materi Ins generated and transmitted by the increased notation of Al 104, 114, 115 Delive from the traditional event message. Received by the agent Believed events either do not generate any meta-responses or are asynchronous type Generate a response. Educationally prominently, the sequence logic of materials gives students Displaying objects and receiving input from students, so writing material data The author defines one or more notations. These notations are queried or Important educationally relevant to this prominent point when called and executed Variables and parameters are messages with a type of display called educational event Is aggregated in. These messages are the next event to be sent to the agent Become. For example, the educational prominence is the new instructional sequence. The start of the su is fried. The event message to be exchanged has a range of topics. The expected difficulty, the expected time required, and the educationally adapted example. included. Another educational prominence is the receipt of incorrect answers. In response The material can generate some messages, the first message The time required for answering, the type of error displayed, and whether the answer is completely incorrect There is an indication that it is a mistake, and the second message is a text with limited agents. Text if you choose to make oral comments about strikes or mistakes Contains parameters (messages of type "let's say") and ends As a third message, the agent on the screen points out or makes a mistake. The position of the screen that best displays the error, which is used when you choose to move to a location ( It may contain a "let's point" type message). Another education The notable point above is that it takes a lot of time to receive the student's next input. In this respect, the material engine displays the elapsed time asynchronously. Send a message. Tool data 115 is instructional material Generate an event that is very similar to the message from Le. Communication material 104 Note that you start communicating with another student for a communication request or task Generate an event to record. If you want to share the work with one material, you can use the communication machine. An event where Terial records how this student is progressing with shared materials Can generate, and in the case of contests like spelling competition, this student is another An event that records how the contest progresses compared to the contest participants in Generate. In addition, in a preferred embodiment, the agent software 108 is a particular installation. You can also receive a message explaining the student's progress in the traction material. For example, in math materials, ask for a common denominator for such messages. It can contain information that the student was wrong due to a problem. These event messages Ji is interested in teachers and managers to track student progress and course suitability It is desirable to include all information. It is important that the communication between the student and the agent is connected. Agent Communication includes text, audible display of video and sound, graphics, and animation. Limited by the present invention, including video display of realistic movie chips, etc. It is desirable to use all possible forms of input and output. For example In the case of communication triggered by good workmanship, the agent is a snip lie. You can select and display sounds and video chips that make students happy from the library. A Gent also creates a reward graphic on the student's screen for some time. You can also do it. On the contrary, if you make a mistake, point out the mistake on the screen. In addition, the on-screen agent will tentatively display various display personalities while communicating with the student. It is especially desirable to determine. The personality here is a specific one that is carried to the students. Takes various display forms to imitate a person with a personality that seems to be alive Synthesized and consistent expression effect. For example, in primary education, cute animals Choose a tone and animation that mimics a well-known cartoon character Can be done. In some cases, the characteristics of the display personala depend on the student's taste Is also coming to choose. In other cases, the personale ignores the student's tastes It is determined by the instructional material, teacher, or administrator. Personalizers for elementary school students can be selected from popular cartoon characters, "STA Called "Dibbies". Commercial or corporate education personalities suit your organization It may be called a "concept coach". In the expression for the intermediate level , Called an electronic learning friend ("ELF"). Network, software, and Through the database, the ABI system acts as a virtual teacher for students From the standpoint of elementary school students, "study buddies" are the individual of their children. He is a human teacher. Genuine orientation in voice, gestures and movements makes this relationship It is strengthening. Agent software 108 for ABI systems is a student data object Build a suitable pedagogical or cognitive student model during the course. This model Le is independent of any particular material. It represents the requirements for portable media, which is an important part of the line. Security and access Seth Control is an operating policy, security software, security hardware Is maintained by careful selection. In this section, we will introduce these elements. Allow and control of access, OS and network security requirements, language issues, acceptable Described in the order of portable SD object security. In the preferred embodiment, the main means of permitting and controlling access is a password. Pa Seward's system management is easy to guess because the user's password is secure It is preferable to include changes on a regular basis. The present invention is passive and capable. Dynamic identification cards, other access controls including certain personal characteristics such as voice It is also suitable for the means. Access protection is based on the user's password It is preferable to provide only system resources such as bases and files. Example For example, access protection can be performed in a CGI access program. The client OS and the server of the invention are tested security levels. Is preferable. This base security provides a higher level of security It can be enhanced by various methods and means that can be used. As such a method / means With a dedicated network gateway that sorts in and out packets according to the content Observe system events for a firewall machine, suspicious combination This is the case with monitoring software called Tripwire. In addition, encrypt Protect sensitive and valuable data from unauthorized access by unlockers It helps. Encryption in hardware and software is Rivest-Shamia -Public key algorithm or data encryption standard by the RSA method It is provided by a known method called the quasi-private key algorithm. Executable code For these examples and material data to download the gment It is important that the word directs a security presentation. For example, because it was full of malice The desired user creates or modifies the downloaded code to the client Illegal operations in the system or access to restricted information from the server You can do it. In this example, much attention is paid to these problems and improvement is constant. The JAVA language is preferred because it is being lost. JAVA security Examples of tee methods include client system resources, especially file systems and nets. Downloaded software that includes access restrictions to work connections Prevents "interfering" with local software and security breaches Bytecode tests are provided to test the code against. ABI system Any execution language for use provides similar or improved security characteristics. Is preferable. In addition, portable SD objects will not be modified, compromised or damaged in unauthorized ways. It is advantageous to protect the sea urchin. Multiple materials according to the ABI system Materials, if available for download from ABI systems or education providers Special attention works in favor of confirming the correct function of. Such SD objects The protection of the software is to confirm the downloaded software and to protect the SD object. Achieved by encryption and key management for the code. Software verification includes registration and runtime access control procedures There is. Software and materials are networked before they are downloaded Registered with the ABI system registration function that resides in the accessible ABI server system Is preferable. Prior to registration, the software submitted should be secure. And, that is, formal and informal that it does not cause an illegal or undefined system. Be inspected. As mentioned earlier, if the software is written in JAVA, it's officially cheap. Since the wholeness can be checked, the inspection becomes easy. Also, modify the SD object What you have done is appropriate, that is, all modifications have been queried or updated Software to ensure that the field reflects the correct use Is inspected. Upon passing these tests, the software is given an identifier and Its viable or interpretable form is to ensure identity A digital stamp is given by a checksum or cryptographic hash function. The system identifier is stored in the registry along with the digital stamp. At runtime, the material according to the ABI system from the provider SD on the client system when there is an access request to the software The object access control method executes the following check process. At first This procedure gives software identification to the registry to dow Generates a request for a registration function that certifies the software being loaded. Sir Ba responds that the software is not registered or licensed Then the download request is rejected. If the identifier is a valid registration, The registry returns the digital stamp associated with that identifier. At this time, Ak Seth Control downloads software or materials and cryptographic hash machines Recalculate the ability or checksum and compare the recalculated value with the registered value. Both do not correspond If so, the download request will be rejected. If both are compatible, the software Assumed to be safe and correctly identified, access control is the indicated access authorization Set yes. Such access authorization is done by software for SD objects. Only for special components and if you have read or read / update permissions You can restrict access to only. In addition to software verification, access control, encryption, portable SD objects The key management procedure for is advantageous. Portable SD objects are agents Knowledge, Temporary Teaching Material Status Data, Optional Educational Progress Day Since it is an important storage place for storing data, etc., it may be changed or deteriorated accidentally or maliciously. It is important not to. To achieve reasonable and effective protection, first, S The D object can be a student password or other identity It is advantageous to include the means in a protected manner. This object is a client If it is plugged into the system, the preliminary access control method The student gave the client system the correct identification Make sure. Secondly, the data of the SD object can be freely accessed by the client system. When the data exists in a form that can be accessed, it is advantageous that it is encrypted. Therefore In the case of an embodiment such as a portable hard disk or floppy disk, SD Object data is encrypted and stored on disk. Specific access Partially encrypted in memory only by law. Processing power along with data storage In the case of an embodiment such as a smart card or PCMCIA card with Can be stored internally in the form of plain text. But when the process is done externally The data is encrypted. For external processing, backup SD objects Installation is required. Internal data is an encrypted sequence for backup Externally processed as a virtual stream, this stream is stored in the backup It will be recalled again. Encryption of these SD objects can be assisted by existing technology key management schemes. To. For example, a public / private key scheme can be used. Student's public key, student's Sith When a student logs on by storing it in the ABI system that processes the system logon request Can be returned to the client. Private key protected in portable SD object It is memorized in the form that was done. In this way, students log on to the ABI system and are portable. After the SD object is verified, both keys are available and encrypted as requested Or the code is decrypted. 5.2.5 Weighing using ABI system Each student who receives instructions from ABI on a particular topic will be instructed and utility. A combination of tee and on-screen agent interaction Will be provided. This is because the ABI system provides individual interactions. What is provided in this way is a unique mixture of visual, audio, and software elements. Consists of things. Also, the hardware and communication resources used by each user different. Therefore, the ABI system tracks the usage of different elements of the ABI system. It is preferable to incorporate trace measurement technology. This information is the creator of the element. It can be used to determine the amount to be paid to the lobbyer and can also be used as a base for user fees. To. In addition, this information is provided by ABI system providers to various components of the system. It can also be used to determine the absolute and relative use of Interested in this information These include server hardware, application software, and networks. Education and support content, licensed equipment and on-screen agent animation It can be mentioned as a provider related to information, manuscript and voice, etc. Finally, this I would like to add that the information can be used to monitor the performance and usage of the system. Current weighing technology can be used to benefit ABI system providers Does not provide detailed methods regarding this. The technology suitable for network distribution of contents is I BM's Crypto Rope, Electronic Publishing Resource's Digibo It can be obtained from X etc. ABI system is a hard element, standard software Supplied by elements, special application software elements, and various providers Consists of content elements to do. Hard elements include networks and other communicators There are application links, server CPUs, disks, etc. Standard software elements OS, database package, communication software, etc. There is. As an application software element, the instructional playback en There are gin, scheduler, agent software, etc. Guidance on content elements Materials for use, practical books such as dictionaries and encyclopedias, on-screen agent animation There are audio and audio. ABI Weighing, Weighing Utility Software Element, ABI Component It consists of elements that tag all elements, elements related to preferable methods of monitoring, etc. To. The pricing and warranty model is preferably provided by the system administrator. A BI weighing utility software (abbreviated as MUS) measures usage and each student Data used during the session in the form of "multi-definitional usage model" Maintain at. MUS is on the student client and system server during runtime Resident. MUS among student clients is Executive Software, Agent software, with inputs derived from the material engine It is a component function of the session manager. MUS in the server system It is a component function of system manager software. For ease of weighing, each ABI element owns an eye that resembles a product barcode Can be tagged with a dentification code. From server to client As elements move through the system and within the client, these elements Usage is weighed. The material engine in the client software Weigh the content using material-owned tags. Agent speech generation and visual display For generation, use the data snip tag to activate the on-screen agent Track ownership. Session and screen manager is working Keep track of clean elements. The present invention is a method of measuring suitable usage for a specific component element. Then it fits any method. Especially by time, by interaction, unit There are four methods suitable for measurement of usage by g and packet. Communication resources Each server uses a packet-specific method to track source utilization. This person The law uses the number of bytes transferred to estimate the number of packets transferred. It is preferable to execute. ABI application software Follow the ip (system packet, instructional material, elf animation) Keep track of the number of bytes transferred to the user. Network used Change byte count to almost equivalent packet count based on forwarding protocol You may replace it. Alternatively, the byte count may be used as a direct weighing means. If there are multiple servers, each server will provide a unique summary of packet forwarding information. Amount Send to utility server. The elapsed time method is executed at the client. In this method, student clients Screen manager said teaching material, elf, dictionary Keep track of multiple simultaneous on-screen activities. In this method, the presentation Monitor the activity elements of the student, that is, the elements that perform the movement or focus that the student inputs. Is even more preferable. For more limited alternative execution, server connection time for students You may measure at. Network such as disconnection or incorrect session sign-off To avoid problems, the server's system manager application is user-configured Poll session statistics during session to student clients or time Get additional and regular by client download. The unit-specific method is preferably performed at the server or client. I. This method measures the content accessed by the client. For example, teaching material In the case of, the client records the completion of the exercise, while the server has access. Record just a specific lesson. In the case of on-screen agent activity, The law takes a record of each completion of display, animation sequence, and audio. Interaction-specific methods are performed on the client side, with clicks and keyboards. Fine-tuned interaction, such as the number of times, and completed responses and metal requests It is preferable to record both somewhat rough interactions such as strikes. Book Combining methods with hourly or unit-based methods provides instructional interactivity It will provide a relative level of bitterness. For example, use teaching materials Medium, another method of interaction measures the actual use, such as agent processing. ing. The use of different ABI elements is preferably weighed in an appropriate manner. Above The law does not have a uniform degree of advantage and makes a difference in expression type. Graphic While seeking payment based on the time spent on design, Zeiner is a mentor. The signer will ask for payment based on the percentage of lessons completed. Obey While the elapsed time method is preferred by graphic designers, it is a unit-based method. Is the publisher and challenge of teaching materials, the types and authors of equipment materials, ounces Used to record the creators of animations and audio for clean agent activities Is preferable. Another way to packet is to the student object database. Access or application software, teaching materials, animation Record the source of network traffic, such as data snip downloads It is preferable to be used for Preferred weighing method Typical owner payment and you Provide the necessary information for the pricing model. In the preferred embodiment, the system administrator provides a pricing model and a payment motel. The present invention fits many alternatives to these models. A user price model Is based on the types of instructions available, similar to prices in the cable television industry It is a flat rate system. Another model is often found in internet access Based on connection time so that it is common for online database access It is based on the type and amount of information retrieved. Table 1A shows specific modes for payments to providers of ABI system elements. Del. Payments are based on weighing data and allocation models. 4 weighings Selectively apply the method to different providers. "A", "b", "c", "d" The allocation amount of is determined from the outside. Table 1A Representative models and weighing information<img file="JP2000511304A_D0001.tif" />5.3 Teaching interface The ABI system has an interface for students, teachers and administrative staff To. Materials and software developers are specific ABI system interfaces Have a chair. As an alternative, develop after doing this development in an independent system Index the components and load them into the appropriate database be able to. 5.3.1. Student / system interface In this section, you will learn about the structure and design of the student / system interface. explain. This description describes the current state of the interface with a series of image display screens. Is directed to the preferred implementation of. However, the present invention is not limited to this, and is sufficient. Perform this design using another technique, eg voice output with speech recognition input Can be 5.3.1.1 Student screen example When presenting materials, students should format all according to the design principles described above. View one or more screens. The screen is text, shapes, animation With a video object that appears in the sub-area, and perhaps in the sub-area. It is configured as a hierarchy of rear and sub-areas. The object is displayed May be just for the sake of, or to allow student input or dialogue You may. An important screen type is the task screen. The task screen is homework including problems, Presenting logged steps, exams for proficiency, and drill-like tasks Used for materials to be used. Table 1 and Figure 3 show task diagrams suitable for elementary education. An example of a surface component is shown. The reference numbers in Table 1 are derived from Figure 3. one Generally, in system area 302, the session administrator sees it as an icon. ABI system facilities that students can easily present by presenting the object Allows access to. Explanation, placement and The presentation of objects, including movement, is the presentation of material data and sequencing. In action, identified by the material designer. Material engine at run time Interpret these items and send the object to the display for display. In the agent area 303, the agent behavior processing is performed by the selected agent. A predefined, parameterizable object that represents a gent person. Format (including the resolution of the project parameter). All selected and The output from one formatted display object is the management software and It is sent to the operating system and eventually presented to students. Table 1: Student screen display elements<img file="JP2000511304A_D0002.tif" /><img file="JP2000511304A_D0003.tif" /> More specifically, the task screen in Figure 3 shows the student's in system area 302. Customization area 305 is included. Students in the customized area Was given by the agent in return for what he achieved You can display the eject. These objects are illustrated here You can include text, shapes or animations as you like. The system The rest of the stem area is accessible as an icon that symbolizes "books on the bookshelf" File system toolbar 306 that displays available files. The present invention , Applicable to other reasonable symbolic file system displays. Here, for example The book icon is a phi that holds the student's personal files, ongoing educational materials Tools like Le, E-mail files, as well as dictionaries and group activities Represents the file for. Under the file system toolbar 306, students access There is a toolbar 310 for tools to use. Shown here is a computer , Word processors, communications, and icons for starfish (general purpose language tools) Is. "Starfish" is a visualization for the semantic network available in the ABI system It is a tool that has been used. Semantic networks are typically semantically meaningful and Consists of nodes linked to other nodes by a link with one name .. This starfish tool creates such a network for students with the starfish arm Displayed as Nordrin Visualize by displaying a node in the center of the starfish's body. Example For example, in the dictionary represented as a word meaning network, synonyms, antonyms, etymology, etc. are listed. It would be possible to include nodes for each of the linked words. Starfish dictionary Displays a word on its body. Each selectable arm has a category (Synonyms, antonyms, pronunciation, etc.) are marked. Click on the arm to respond Display or speak a word. Such tools provide a variety of knowledge structures for students. Gives an integrated display of construction. The schedule / calendar tool is an important tool that is always available. The icon 309 illustrated for this tool is the calendar part 307 and the clock part. Has a minute 308. If you select each of these parts, you can schedule the day. And the monthly schedule function is launched. These features are the student's next activity Or the student has excessive time, or the indicated individual is skeletal Allows you to select a location that has the ability to operate. In Material Area 304, educational materials, tools, and correspondence materials display their contents. To. Figure 3 shows page 3 of the illustrated math homework. Educational materials are exercises And organized as a book of items, current textbook and workbook conventions It is advantageous to mulate. In this case, section tab 312 sexualizes students Allows you to navigate to your homework book, and the Sada Button 321 Allows students to navigate to homework books by Sada. Also available There is a student action toolbar 317. Speaking of homework, this Includes submissions and help and tips when the agent permits Can include requests. It is advantageous to standardize the format of the material page .. Illustrated standardizations include header information 314, presentation 315 and interactive input. It has area 316. Agent area 303 on the screen allows students to enter transcendental requests. It also enables synchronous or asynchronous transcendental responses of agents. Illustrated in Figure 3 The area included the transcendental request button 320, and the student activated this button, You can display a list of currently available transcendental requests. Student transcendence demands , At any time, generally permitted by the ABI system. The request is teaching At the beginning, middle and end of the growth sequence, on the selection screen, the tool smells Can occur in group communication or in calendar There is a potential. Agent transcendental response is personalized And it depends on the content. Typical transcendental requirements are shown in Table IB. ing. As an example of content dependence, the request "Where am I?" When it occurs during the lesson, the graphic display of the lesson is shown. Meanwhile, the same request When it occurs between lessons, the graphic display of the previous lesson and the new lesson is shown. To. Agent software attempts to respond based on the user's intentions , Its contents and the previous request are used to infer the reason for the current request. Table 1B: Typical transcendental requirements<img file="JP2000511304A_D0004.tif" /> Annotation of educational materials is that Agent Fostwear is relative to students in class It provides a framework for maintaining the trajectory of a position. Also, this same information is available in class It is also useful for teachers for preliminary review and commentary. The rest of area 303 The agent is for transcendental response, which is a multi-personal It is important to have media. Illustrated is a text message 318 and typically a video person 319 with animation. From text Audio output to peach, or audio output from audio files is also possible is there. Figure 4 also shows an example of an on-screen dialogue between the material and the agent. FIG. 4 shows the data area 501 and screen of the computer display screen in FIG. Only the contents of the upper agent area 502 are shown. Input selection for math homework materials Item presentation 503 with a select button is displayed. Student wrong input button 504 Was selected. In the event of this important educational event, the material will be annotated in the material data. Some messages that have been generated Send to agent. In response, student agents choose to be explained I chose. First, the text 506 of the rule that the student's answer violated is displayed. This te Kist is an agent by the material in the event message to use it Was sent to Second, the on-screen agent points to the location of the error on the screen. (505). This location was also sent to the agent by the material. Third , On-screen agents have a high error rate or increased d that students have previously committed Comment on the pedagogical nature of the student's mistakes in response to the rate Present a transcendental response 508. In addition, the person 507 is activated to draw the attention of the students. Yes Fortunately, this person has animation, audio, and text displayed. Can include peach output. Thus, the agent software is now Input, student past input in this class, and over several sessions Agents are important based on the processing of the student's pedagogical model formed in The words, videos, and te spoken in the speech to emphasize the educational matters that were decided to be Incorporate Kist displays and shapes, as well as animations into the person's display .. Other screen types are important in ABI systems. For example, the tool is a calculator Like images, it can have a clear screen type suitable for those properties. They summarize just-finished educational materials, announce status information, and students Lists the selection of any available material. These choices will be adopted next Educational materials, or any non-educational materials accessible to students (eg in the game room) It may be related to exchange credits for time, access to e-mail, etc.). 5.3.1.2. Student action Input by students or other users of the ABI system is preferably requesting, super Classified as over-request or data. Student requests include input directed to the material, as well as Is an input directed to a system that requires a particular action. Student data , An input that responds to system requests for information. For example, a student's request is Input to the system to start the calculator or submit the completed homework to the teacher Includes input to certain materials to do so. However, entering numbers into the computer It is data. The present invention further describes a special type of data entry, ie symbolic entry. Also applicable, in which case the student should choose a certain sign or symbol Gives input by. Symbolic input is a specific teaching by the agent to the student Request to report his impressions or ratings about the breed It is especially advantageous when doing. Transcendental request is an age that requires a specific action It is an input directed to the ent. For example, ask for hints between current materials, d Student input to the agent is a transcendental request. The indications formed by the present invention are preferably applied, responsive, transcendental responsive, or Classified as a question. Applicable labels are available materials, such as educational materials or tools. Occurs when the system starts. Applicable indications usually occur in response to student requests However, it can also occur system-driven. For example, agents are available to students You can request the system to make a tool. The response is the material Is all the indications formed by the system. For example, in response, present materials Includes indications and indications regarding the adequacy or correctness of student input. Transcendental response Is all the indications formed by the agent. These are student transcendences It may be synchronous, which occurs in response to a request, or it may be an agent from a source. It may be asynchronous due to an event sent to the computer. Questions further A special form of response or transcendental response that requires student input. The question is an individual Negotiate with students in the form of dialogue, which is an integral part of leadership interaction. Figure 5 shows the student interaction segments and the systems that can occur during math homework. An example is shown. This is how both the response and the request are transcendental responses. And whether it is distinguished from transcendental demands, and the agent is the student's present Through observing the current situation and contacting the history of past students, how can the materials be used? Can teach students better than in Germany (which only knows the current content) Is shown. This display is personally appropriate for the student's current and past grades Matched and preferably with students using realistic, lifelike on-screen figures Negotiate. The display from the ABI system aimed at students is generally shown on the right, Time goes down. Diagonal arrows such as 401 are the tails of the arrows. It shows that the sage leads to the message at the head of the arrow. This illustration is from a math homework material that suggests that students will use a calculator. It starts with answer 402. The student responds with request 403 and selects the calculator icon to require a calculator Want. Then the calculator application 404 is driven, depending on the system components Is displayed. Data 405 is the student's input to the calculator tool and response 406 is the student Indicates an error. This response is clearly inadequate information and data 407 To the computer that was repeated Incorrect input. Calculator tools send event messages to student agents As it sends, the agent monitors the course of this interaction. Repeatedly wrong Observing the input, the agent intervenes with an asynchronous transcendental response 408. , Summarize the latest student input. This tool response is obviously inadequate and can help Since there is no student, help responds to the on-screen agent with transcendental request 409 To request. Agent Synchronous Transcendental Response 410 Revises Student's Latest Error It suggests a completely different approach to consider to correct. 5.3.1.3. System response The following general principles are used for system, material response and agent transcendental response. Preferably guided. First, repeat the character or mouse click If only, some indications will be created for all user inputs. .. Second, the user does not leave any doubts about the current state of work. For example If the system does not receive user input within a conformingly determined time, the system , Preferably give work-specific hints or suggestions. Third, all responses Reflect the current content. More importantly, the system response aspect includes students in special classes. Must be adapted to specific auditing students from primary to adult education. This key The order can be set by the education and management staff. One adaptable Aspect is at the language level, the language of the system response, for example, the help service Cabrary and language, messages and annotations are preferably adjustable .. Another important adaptable aspect is the type of agent person on the screen. , This is preferably adjustable. The type of encouragement, the degree of jokes, etc. are intended It is closely dependent on the student population and can be adjusted in an advantageous manner. In addition, the tools are also compatible It is possible to make it. Each tool is also valid or ineffective for each student It is advantageous to make it effective. For example, email and communication tools are available in the lower grades Can be disabled. Strict control over file creation and deletion You can make it necessary. Also, certain tools are different for students It can have different degrees of complexity, suitable for the level. In addition, some ABI system components are special, favorable and advantageous. It has characteristics. These will be listed later. Importantly, transcendental response The choice of answer preferably concerns speed, accuracy and attributes specific to the type of material. Student's past foundations It is formed in consideration of the line. Gives higher weight to recent values than earlier values By using the variable averaging function, the basic line of performance and timing is advantageous. Can be formed. The timing of the transcendental response was preferably asked in the past A student data object that records the amount of help and past grades given Based on the field. Moreover, it is advantageous that the pace of transcendental response is content sensitive. For example, orthodontic teaching Education should only be provided if the error is repeated, or provided asynchronously Tips should only be provided after a relatively long period of unanswered response is there. You should also take advantage of previous student interactions. Repeat for hints The demands should be kept in mind and should be addressed with correctional education rather than another hint. U. Speed of encouragement, advice and tips adapts based on ongoing performance records Should be adjusted. The actual content of the transcendental response is the parameters from the event message sent from the material. By filing in, you can adjust to the current situation. Less than checking ... The educational material interface standard ("IMIS") is "Where am I?" When providing information to students in response to inquiries such as "Are you there?" Is an important element of. The system then uses the information in the IMIS, eg "You are in the middle of a drill and you are doing a fraction," he replies. More information The student's demands can elicit a graphic response. The response of this shape is A more detailed level in a format similar to that presented by a human teacher Strengthen the aspect of visual education by providing information on. Shapes used The legal format is the previous graphical transcendental response and scheduler / calendar For past use of system components by the student, such as tools Fitted individually. The structural information for the agent software to build the graphic response is in the lesson. Records, previous student grades, previous agent responses (including graphic responses) and Derived from the scheduler / calendar. Marker request is due to the type of lesson Use general annotations and specific annotations for preconditions. Time The request, along with a profile of the individual's performance for that type of material, Use the expected time annotation. A typical pre-defined graphic response template is a road map (maybe a train) And subway map shapes), including charts, tables, shapes and icon flowcharts I'm sorry. Colors to show the relative level of grade, urgency or element dependence Can be used. Green is good at responding to the request "How do I do it?" Show your grades, yellow shows good grades, red shows immediate attention. You can do it. Similarly, a diamond shape for caution, or a stop The shape of the icon may indicate its function, such as a hexagon for. Figure 12 shows one of the dialogues that begins with the student's transcendental request, "Where am I?" An example is shown. On-screen agents are transcendental responses, including a summary of student progress, For example, create "You are in a quarter of the fractional addition class." next , Students may request more information. Preferably, the on-screen agent Point to the position on the figure and say, "You are here." Students then need to be on the chart If you click on the element, the agent will provide more information. For example, execute Clicking on the box will provide a transcendental response containing the next driven flowchart. Will be served. Preferred calendar / scheduler response and its selection Advantageously, the calendar scheduler can give the following response: these Is controlled by schedule data called from the school / student data area It is also processed by the calendar / schedule tool. Preferably, study The raw data object only contains personal schedule data for that student Includes. Calendar / Schedule Tools and Student Agents From both the school / student area and the student's personal schedule area You can get the data. 1. For deadlines for document work in the system, or for class excursions Remind students of deadlines for outside activities, such as getting parental consent Schedule reminder response. 2. Divide based on student background, as well as given priorities and deadlines Work sequencing suggestion response that suggests the order of assigned tasks. 3. Timing information and this intervened as part of the work in the educational material How long the assignment requires, based on the student's past relative performance Evaluation, timing evaluation response. In one embodiment, the ABI system should be divided between the student and the system. Provides scheduling initiative. Settable work schedule parameters On the one hand, Ta can start and end any activity at will and limit it. Students are perfect Allows you to have a schedule control, on the other hand, the student schedules the system It makes it possible to study only these materials. These schedule para The meter has parameters to control the tools and students while doing a given job Includes options available and also allows students to make background interpretations or corrections Includes required parameters. Important elementary parameters include work priorities And deadline schedule values are included. Both priority and data If not "off", work with higher priority and faster deadlines However, it is automatically scheduled for students. If these values are "off", the student Has control over the schedule of work. The system of the invention is also a server system that the system should run, perhaps a server system. Contains a central list of activities that set the time saved in the room. These are standard Guru to generate and print reports, or like a spelling contest It can include regular time for broadcast messages about the activity. this Activities that have been set up for these times fit into the list of timed activities and are squirrels. Scheduled software to start the activities listed in G at the listed time Can be done by. Such scheduling software is UNIX Similar to the "at" utility in the operating system possible. 5.3.2. Teacher / Administrator-System Interface If the teacher oversees the education of the student, the teacher or teacher's agent will be the ABI system. Play an important role in the game. The teacher uses the system for the initial profile Student Data Objects and Schools-Enter into the Student Data Area and study Divide the students into subgroups, review them, comment and schedule the allocation, and you're done. Review and comment on your homework assignments and review your summary report. Perform such a function. In this setting, the student teacher is a student data object and school-student Dominates important parameters in the raw data area, which in turn agents In terms of directing the actions of the student agent, the student agent is also the student teacher. It is also a gentleman. Teachers School-Student Area and Student Data Objects By initializing and supervising the parameters and customizing the material Customize the ABI system. Important teacher activities are included in the following list ing. 1. The teacher initializes important data in school-student data and continues Dominate And now supervise students' use of the system in a way. For example, teachers are available to students Students change agent personality, controlling access and level of capable tools Limit the range that can be done. 2. The teacher allocates, schedules, and prioritizes student access on the material. Control students' use of the ABI system by giving. This is a school -By teacher control over schedule subtypes in the student data area Achieved. For example, a teacher has to complete a task on an ABI system Schedule, schedule non-system work, eliminate work, etc. Or you can change their priority. 3. Teachers can customize the materials available to students. Luci The range of customization includes arrangements, elements, and terms of instruction lessons. Changing eyes, choosing homework that students have to complete, students Identify some homework assignment formats, such as discretionary reports Includes sending messages to students. 4. The teacher's class management uses the email facility of the ABI system. It is assisted by sending messages, reminders, hints, etc. to students. This system can assist the teacher in favor of homework management. Gaku Make print copies for teachers and students once students complete and submit their homework be able to. If the answer is given as part of the homework material, then the ABI system You can score your homework. When the teacher considers homework online, Teachers can add comments for students. Also, to the advantage, the system gives teachers an overview for each student and class. Abbreviated reports and detailed reports can be provided. These reports , Available online immediately, or printed for later consideration be able to. As is known in the technology, the report is a progress of instruction And can include both current and cumulative data about homework To. This report also asks questions about student lack of homework and student teaching progress. Sticky notes can be attached to the title pattern. In a preferred embodiment, these The report was sent to the school server system by the student agent at the school -Generated from a database of student data. In addition, the teacher can be a student. Teachers generally use ABI systems Used in the procedure for customizing materials and in the teacher's class You can benefit from training in a survey of special materials. This training is, in an advantageous way, directed to the teacher (or student education material). Packaged as educational material (similar to). In this case, like a student, a teacher Is a teacher's day that records accessible materials, teacher progress and pedagogical characteristics Teacher training using the data object and this data object Have an agent who guides the teacher and guides the teacher in using the system .. Teacher data objects, as well as those for students, are advantageously portable It can be saved as a teacher data object. In the ABI system, other stakeholders such as school administration staff, parents, and researchers Can play a certain role. Management staff is student and teacher data Right to access certain data items in objects and other system data This means that they assign students to courses, students to teachers, and also Teaching trait standards and teaching traits that students must meet to complete their material Allows you to establish standards. This staff is also a student at school A report on progress, teachers' high prices, and the effectiveness of certain materials given You can receive it online or in paper. Reports and questions Producing reports from relevant or purpose-oriented databases is standard Program creation work. An important element of this work is the day that appears in the report. Selection of data, selected day (summary form, detailed form, or both) How the data is presented, the format in which the data is output, the output on the screen or page It is the layout of the data to be forced. Teachers and managers request several types of reports. Regular report G are required to be made at regular intervals. These are by students It varies according to the group by Russ, by grade, by school. They are also the Lord It also changes depending on the title. The report is a complete set of data, or standard limits Only data that exceeds can be presented / summarized. Some of these reports Meets mandatory reporting and record keeping requirements, and some are sent to parents. A The BI system also provides standard questions and reports to teachers and managers. Gives the ability to create. If appropriate, the parent should also be a party in one embodiment of the ABI system. Can be done. Student parents get quick information about their child's homework and grades Data Objects and Schools for Their Students-Student Data Area Can be given access to certain areas in. This information is pointed to by their students Now available at home on the same client system that receives guidance and homework can do. Finally, educational researchers AB to examine the effectiveness of educational theories and methods. I Can get some access to the system. For example, they asked Report on students using materials constructed according to the subject paradigm By receiving, the effectiveness of various educational paradigms in a certain teaching content It is possible to compare efficiently. 5.3.3. Education designer / system interface The big picture of the designer interface Materials, especially educational materials, are created by educational designers. Creation of materials is harmful materials Can be done on the system where it should be used, or on another system Can be done. In general, educational designers create materials, which are, for example, the techniques in question. Computer-assisted instruction, homework or stains as known in the art Computer-assisted practice such as simulation, work with some materials Includes computer-controlled student educational work that may include. About all materials Student agents standardize on completed sessions and acquired skills -You have to know on the mat. Designer interface details ABI system available to student agents to control material presentation It provides an environment that guides students to improve their educational outcomes. This environment is , Present homework, evaluate responses, investigate requirements, use tools like dictionaries Includes facilities to provide assistance and score unit master questions Is done. This system has the advantage of traditional forms of homework, such as worksheets. , As well as new types of homework, such as group-based homework, other than fixed length Previously for teachers, such as standards based on dialogue or standards based on dialogue rather than regulation It can contain formats that take too long. Advantageously, this Sith The system structure contains extant guidance, annotations, and issues agent event messages. Existing Compu by embedding in the resulting material of the invention It can be adapted to the form of instruction with the assistance of data. All of the following creative information may be provided by the education designer when preferred. it can. In this case, the drawback is that the teacher can only ignore the information if necessary. To. Alternatively, the teacher can make various degrees of customization. , Or may be needed. In this section, "practice" is one of the teaching tasks. Means a unit. Runtime conversion of materials with text, shape and animation descriptions is advantageous By the methods commonly used for interactive multimedia creation software Will be done. Existing creative programs can be video programs or scripting languages A genus of multiple independent display objects throughout the programming paradigm It is up to the author to identify sex and behavior. For example, a button or other selectable In order to display the object, the user of the creative software is asked to position, size, Draw by attributes such as shape, color, and label, as well as object selection Specifies characteristics such as the function to be done. Of the many available products, the most widespread and well-winged is Macromedy. Authorware and Processor of A, Toolbook of Asymmetrics, and D Icon Author of Imtech. These paradigms are for their manufacturers And documented by other authors (Sims, Authorware with Style; Sweari) ngton et al., Macromedia Director Design Guide; Hill, Using Multimedia To olbook 3.0). The process of creating a teaching task is, for example, defining the task, defining each practice, and learning. Judge raw input, define practice completion, and add annotations for agents to the material It is advantageous to write sequentially so as to include the steps to be taken. In creating the steps that define the work, the education designer is responsible for the whole work. Information, including initial instruction, in a written format, and preferably in a special format. Provided in a format spoken in another language needed for Russ students. Designers also have materials sequenced according to the educational paradigm of choice. provide. Teaching sequencing is suitable for interactive teaching with feedback There is. Homework sequencing is in a fixed order; student-determined order; mandatory Priority by teachers in groups of matters, important matters, or any matter Student-determined order assisted by decisions; and regarding individual item subtypes Sequencing determined by performance against criteria can be included. In the creative steps that define each practice, the education designer includes: Providing information in an advantageous manner. The designer has a name for this work and practice, its need Agents are available, selecting skills to be acquired according to conditions and school system standards Meaning can track student grades and give help, tips and corrections To do it. The designer then decides on the spoken format and the written format. Provide student guidance for practice. Next, the designer will use the shapes for practice. And by creating text and identifying their display attributes Identify the presentation of practice by. The designer then enters the acceptable user input, Define the force data type and the display area where input is allowed. Finally, teaching Education designers provide hints. Tips are preferably student requests or student requests Any hints provided for inactivity, and overall inappropriate actions Includes cases given by the agent. In creating the steps to determine student input, education designers include: It is advantageous to provide such information. First, the designer is satisfied with the required input Define the criteria for being, the action (or not required) in case of incomplete input. An example of such an action is to suggest completion of the omitted input. No. Second, the designer can judge how the input is judged, and possible judgments, such as For example, define correct, close mistakes, mistakes, etc. Finally, the designer is asked to enter the individual Select an error response for an elemental or overall practice. These responses are uniform It can also reflect certain wrong answers. For error response, Includes retry policy and correction route selection. Correction is based on the results of retries It can be a sequential optional item given. The determination of response is in accordance with certain standards established for the particular practice of the present invention. It is preferred to be done. Thereby, the agent has all the standardized resources. The pedagogical characteristics of students can be monitored in a uniform manner throughout the fee. Therefore, the first step in input determination is, where appropriate, the type of data. , And perhaps checking the range of input. For example, adding fractions In response to the arithmetic problem, check that the fraction has been entered. Wrong Give appropriate feedback when entered the type or range of data Can be obtained. One student input is an en-en of one element of text or numbers Tory, move one display object, select one display object, Draws a line or curve (probably surrounds the display object) Mukoto) can be included. The second step in input determination is proper input in a standard error category. Can be a classification of. In one embodiment, this is the pattern that corresponds to the correct answer It can be done by providing a This pattern is a text ten The right balance for the right input, such as a plate or spatial template Can be a rate. Selected from the system library for such procedures The pattern matching procedure is performed so that the input is matched to the pattern. Can be done. The output of the system adaptation procedure is advantageously limited to correct or partially correct answers. It is selected from a number of standard judgments. This decision then guides the student and Communicate with agents in event messages to apply the pedagogical model of Will be done. The present invention is a template and pattern conforming hand known in the art. It is possible to adopt in order. The pattern is one or more parameterized texts Template, defining the relative position of objects moved by students Can include spatial templates, selection templates that identify selection patterns Wear. In addition, the spatial template is the outline area of the screen, the drawing object Can include g-shape, maze traverse, and tool input. Returning to the creative steps that define the completion of the work, the education designer enters, practices and And provide information in an advantageous manner, including criteria for completing work. The material is homework for the teacher A certain minimum completion can be requested before allowing submission. Final creation Tep is to attach additional annotations for agents to the material. This These annotations are work and practice subjects, skill classifications, and sequencing logic. It relates to the definition of the educational paradigm embodied in. It is an educational setting Event message for agents, performed by an instrument or a discerning teacher Expressed as an annotation in the material that generates the data, for control of material sequencing Refer to the control parameters set by the agent. This is entertaining The annotations communicate various types of information to the agent. The example type is , Work, subject, type of subject element covered by work; similarity and difficulty Comparison between exercises in the same homework by gender; which exercises were answered correctly Subject premise for deciding whether a student was able to master or not based on Matters; System knowledge prerequisites; Average time to complete and expected time Contains the characterization given by the schedule information. 5.4. ABI system software structure In this section, the software described earlier in the more general way with reference to Figure 2. Structural examples for wear components will be described in more detail. The following sex Will explain specific components in more detail. The structure described here is an example It is an indication. The present invention is another arrangement of features of the present invention for different modules. It can be applied to other structures as well. Such another structure can be used by those skilled in the art. Therefore, it is easily designed. In this section, we will start with the client software and data components. Describe the nents, as well as the conceptual hierarchy that reflects their interactions. next , The structure of the execution software is explained. Finally, the event caused by the system Rows and processes are described. 5.4.1 Student client software structure Figure 6 shows the client software and data components, as well as them. It illustrates a conceptual hierarchy that reflects their interactions. The illustrated link is , Principle processing calls, or class dependencies between components. At the root of this hierarchy is the operating system 601 This has already been mentioned in relation to preferred client hardware. Operate The ing system (OS) is the language of execution and their classes, as well as related Includes a unique operating system, along with a library of features with control I'm out. The next level is execution software 602 (ES). This software The clothing is customized according to the requirements of the present invention. , A collection of many components that extend if necessary. For example, all The creation of OS work is processed by the ES work control facility, Guarantee materials that are only accessible to students. Also, this ES software is good Providing a great animation facility and client startup To control. Session and screen manager 603 is always present on the client system doing. This component is generally illustrated by the example screen in Figure 3. As you can see, the screen is divided into the main system component areas, and the system area is immediately Then, the area 302 in FIG. 3 is controlled. Thus, it exists in the system area When the student selects the icon and requests the ES to start the indicated function , Before continuing to generate OS work Students now have access to this feature using Schedule / Calendar 607 Check if and is allowed. The system manager is also a student Suggests what reward shapes and animations are given access to Show. These features are an OS and ES object-level I / O facility. It is executed by calling the tee. The accessible data on the client system is set on the client. Student data object 611 for students in the middle of the school. This object is , Student agent model, student current teaching status, and educational material itself Contains ABI system data, preferably as described above. Accessed from portable media. Alternatively, the student logged on to the client Sometimes it can be downloaded from the server system. Preferably This object is divided into components that contain methods and data subtypes Only the components that are cracked and needed are actually accessed at one time. two Student data objects are primarily as indicated by the arrows with two heads. Accessed and updated by agent processing functions 609 and 612. In a preferred embodiment, the school-specific data is the school-student data area 6 Stored separately in 15. This data is good, as shown by arrows 608 and 614. Depending on the ABI client system component other than the agent Is accessed. In another embodiment, various subtypes or all schools -Student data can be merged into student data object 611. Schedule / Calendar component 607 is like teachers and administrators It is important for other system personnel to manage students. this is, It's a tool that's always driving, whether it's on the screen or not. Activity theory Student activity represented by light, priority and deadline is teacher or management Depending on the school-student data area schedule / enter into the calendar Will be done. Optionally, essential information is also in the schedule / calendar subtype You can enter. This component, as indicated by arrow 608 Nent has this schedule / calendar subtype data, as well as student activity Refer to the estimated time to complete, but this estimated time is determined from the student's past grades What kind of activity, what kind of study, such as special educational materials To determine if it should be started automatically by ES without live intervention Stored in a raw data object. Students give greater initiative If so, the schedule / calendar can be set, for example by selecting an icon. It is possible to allow the student to create the requested work. This component is Also, when the student requests advice on what to do next when making a request A prioritized work squirrel for the agent to present to the student To provide. It includes priority and deadline information, as well as educational materials and And the time for completion calculated using the data in the student data object Use data. These materials are incorporated into the ABI system by the materials engines 604 and 605. Presented. As explained earlier, the material data is for display output and student input. Objects, sequence logic control object display, and objects Agent when referenced by sequence logic while presenting Contains annotations that give rise to event messages for. The material data is these Up to a single screen associated with a project, logic section, and a single educational item It also contains some screen display annotations. This material data is also good Furthermore, the educational paradigm applied by these materials is used as an agent. It is possible to communicate and inform the agent of the control variable that is the cause. Contains special headers or initialization entries with important annotations. Also, Such headers or initialization messages make the material their educational paradigm. When changing, it will be sent to the agent. Preferred embodiments include multiple sources. There is one common material engine that presents the data 605. In another example, seeds There is a specialized material engine for each class or material data type obtain. Material Engine 604 downloads the entry for Material Data 605 and sequence Interpret the slogic, display the requested object, and the requested agent Refer to the embedded annotation that generates the event message to the user. OS and E The standard facility of S uses the presentation of objects and some input as materials. Used for arting. Input is bright in scheduling logic It is processed according to the details. In a preferred embodiment, the agent is sequenced Control the material by setting shared comprehensive variables that Logic checks I will control it. Such shared inclusive variables can be used in operating systems, such as shared memory. Interprocess Communication ("ipc") Facilitation Can be made available by tee. The material engine makes these demands It can be any program to run, especially Macromedia's Author Can be an extension of available commercial creative tools and engines like ware Wear. In another embodiment, the material is separated into engine and data components. Instead, it consists of a single component for each sample. In this example And a process similar to compiling is a single viable material component Create an The present invention is another embodiment of the material that generates the agent message. Also applies equally to responding to agent control according to the requirements outlined here .. Agent processing has two components: agents in response to events. Agent action process 609 that determines the display action and the display action It can be divided into agent behavior processing 612 that converts the information into the display of the person for the student. .. Both components are student objects 611, as indicated by arrow 616. To access. In a preferred embodiment, the agent action processing is defined. It is law-based and driven by events. Any of the rules in rule table 160 Also reviewed using parameters communicated in materials or event messages from students It is valued and searched from the student data object. These rules are candidate ac Provide a statement, then rate the final set of agent actions from this candidate The value and selection are passed to subsequent agent behavior processing 612. Agent processing is also comprehensive for sequencing and controlling material Set variables. The side effect of this process is to use the information from the material event message. Is to update the student data object. Agent behavior processing 612 is determined in agent action processing Build an on-screen agent display based on the actions taken. Preferred implementation In the example, this process is based on the behavior table 613. Pronunciation, text Voices, and emotions are selected from the table based on the final action determined It is refined using the parameters included with the action. These departures Sounds and actions are sent to the selected agent person object, which Is the agent of the selected person by using the selected pronunciation and emotions Create a display. By this process, the data becomes a student data object, special A field that reflects the student's agent personalization choices (eg desirable person) , And in the field that reflects recent agent behavior Illuminated and updated. Correspondence material 615 is also illustrated. These materials are, for example, the student's personal finger. Various gurus such as guidance, group study with special materials, and group consultation Manage and provide resources for campaign activities. These as indicated by arrow 614 The material is preferably in the data subsubtype stored in School-Student Data 615. Access. 5.4.2. Execution software The execution software (ES) is the key to the present invention of the operating system. A collection of many components that can be customized and extended if necessary ing. ES software is a common facility and a special facility Execute. Examples of common facilities are work control, communication, and And I / O facilities are included; examples of special facilities are preferred Animation facility and client logon and start Includes up facilities. In a preferred practice, the ES software , Front end for available OS software components, wrapper -Or assembled as an extension. For example, a certain facility is up to C Or implemented in C ++, Windows (trade name) graphic device inter Directly call an OS interface such as a face or its extension. class Other facilities like Java: Package in Java 1.0 Can be assembled using available execution language libraries such as .. Yet another facility exists in commercially available creative packages. Provided directly as part of a software package, such as display I / O functionality Can be done. Work controls manage the startup of system components. First, use the schedule / calendar tool to set schedules and priorities By checking, students are allowed to drive the requested components Make sure it is allowed. Indirectly, student agents have this drive You can contact us to determine if it makes sense. Next, if If allowed, this facility will be requested by the server system. Manage software loading and data object access. Most Later, the work control makes a component call by making one of the OS calls. Start up. Work control is also another system at the end of work Notify the component. The communication facility manages network communication and even client-server. Or provide a file server protocol even if it doesn't exist in the OS. This Protocols such as may include HTTP V2.0 in URL name resolution and m. It is executable software that includes sessions with major class servers All required network settings, including wear server and educational material server Hold on. If you download the Student Data Object, Student Day Communication with the object storage is maintained. This is the data fragment library It can exist in any of these server classes. In another implementation, this The server can be on one or several physical server systems To. Finally, this facility requests downloads and uploads. Handles all remote access requests, including. I / O Facility is an entry for object level display I / O Includes force and output display handlers. This display handler is text, Receives object-level requests for graphics, video and audio and makes them OS Transfer to any interface supported by. Input handler Receives low-level input from the OS input handler and takes it to the current screen Process according to the format. In certain cases, it calls the output handler directly And immediately, feedback behavior like object highlighting or dragging To execute. In other cases, it is a screen object, eg an agent on the screen. System components for properly formatted I / O event messages Send to Output handlers are system owner, location, characteristics, size, what Whether that animation information and the object is in the input center Um, receive the details of the input object presentation, then one of the required screen maps Update the ping and raise an OS request to display the object. This Examples of object details such as are probably scrollable and for specific educational materials Therefore, the selectable text is filed with the specific content displayed. Ject is included. Examples of specialized ES facilities are animation creation and client Is a startup. Client system supports animation This is a table that potentially calls up the available display modality. Concatenated and timed sequences shown, and other timed presentations To. What suitability of the present invention Applicable to painful animation facilities, but preferred facilities Y presents a script-based interface. Input to the animation facility is the object display command, of How to get the timing of the eject display and the input of any of the authorized users Input details of what will be handled, and the data of the event to return to the starting system component A script that includes ips. Examples of display events include script branching and presentation. Or it includes user input that causes interruptions. Animation facility is Receive scripts from other system components, for example, a data fragment Request and timing download of required display objects from Ibrary Interpret the item and send the request to the input and output handlers. ES Startup Facility is a networked computer Described about student clients running on the data. Startup is ahead Same for other client systems, including raw and educational designer clients It is like. As is typically the case, if the system before startup Each component of the ABI system if the component does not exist on the client When the component is accessed when needed or from a portable medium, Must be downloaded from the bar. The first step is ABI Net Includes students accessing any client connected to the network. Ak Seth is powered on and the system is started for this client. Includes few computers that require a computer. Preferably, a student user The access can be, for example, a boo that can be present or powered on to the client. Standard intranet browser downloaded by the tostrap process By using to access a server with a system manager Start. The student logs on to System Manager, which is then Paswa Authenticate by means such as a card or recognition card. If the authentication is successful, The system manager downloads the ES and starts it. Then ES is Start the required communication session, including communication with the stem server, then session Manager software, agent software, and scheduler / Download the calendar tool software. Preferably carried with ES Student data object authenticates student, student data object data carries Accessed from the band medium. Or student de The data object is downloaded from the server. Next, session manager The jar displays the student in a student data object that depends on the student priority. Present and receive input from the system area of the display. Then schedule / The calendar should work with agents to present what materials students should be presented with. Or decide what you can choose from it. Finally, Material Day The data and engine are downloaded and the actual student session begins. The person's presentation, or just the appropriate unique response, is downloaded from the server. Can be created from audio and video display objects and referenced when needed it can. These display objects, or data fragments, correspond to special presentations. Can be linked to a group. In addition, these linked groups Can contain small pieces of code that allow short, bifurcated, interactive transcendental responses To. Therefore, one transcendental response should include an opportunity for student input and respond to this input. You can answer and select the net display object. Each of these groups Is cataloged and referred to as a person who behaves in a particular way. 5.4.3. System event processing ABI systems on student clients and other clients are for students and And wait for timer input events, then favorably respond to these events I will be urged. This is a common current practitioner for building dialogue systems Is. However, the present invention will be developed in the future to build interactive systems. For possible implementations, the key system components mentioned above and And their interactions are applicable as long as they can be presented in such future implementations. It is possible to do. With reference to Figure 7, this section describes the system processing of input events and the first input. The results of the force while the system waits for the next event will be explained in sequence. This explanation is How system components communicate with each other, as well as information and control Provides details on how it flows through the system. The component here A more detailed description of Nent will appear in the next section. Figure 7 conceptually illustrates the control flow and event processing in a student client. doing. In general, the left side of this figure has the relevant data, and the center is the processing step. There is an I / O event on the right side. As is clear from its contents, in this figure The arrow inside is the data Represents a reference or control flow. Control flow has a message At the time it was executed by the information, and standard ES and OS system calls It is at another point in time made by the delivery. In addition, this figure shows the student agent It is directed to the processing of these interacting components. Session money These components, such as jars, that do not interact with agents are marked Can be constructed according to quasi-dialogue techniques (eg Petzold, 1996, Program) See ming Windows 95, Microsoft Press, Redmond WA). Thus, at standby point 701, the system will enter the next student input or timer. -Wait for an event. This wait is after the system has processed the previous event, or maybe cis. Start at standby points 707, 713 and 717 after the system has started up. Upon receiving the input event, the ES I / O handler 702 receives another system component. Whether an event represents an action without its importance for the Nent To determine. For example, an event commands an object to be emphasized or animated. It can be a student action that only causes a timer event to do. Such an event Can be handled entirely by the I / O handler and the system restarts at 701 Wait. The event is a student request for document engine 703, or agent 711 When it corresponds to a transcendental request for, the I / O handler properly formats it. And pass it on to the correct component that owns the input object. The thing When the elephant is set by one of the material engines or by an agent If it represents an interval, it is formatted and sent to the requesting component. .. In the case of group study, this event occurs from a remote computer system and is low Forwarded over the network line to reach the Cal I / O handler. This I / O handler sends the event message to the component to which it is directed. It will be formatted in the format expected by the computer. They are each In the sage, along with any input information from the action, of the student action Include type or time interval. One input event has several event messages appear. Here, the message directed to Shiro Engine 703 is considered first; Age The message directed to the ent action process 711 is considered second. Figure 7 Shows two source engines, but sometimes one engine or three or more It is also possible that the engine of is present on the system. Of the existing material engine Event message regardless of the number Sage is passed on to the correct engine. Material engine 703 is an educational material, tool It also holds multiple read-only material data 704 corresponding to communication materials. These engines also handle agent actions, as indicated by arrow 725. Access the control information determined by 711. This control information is a message Refer to the method by exchanging the data or the parameters stored in the shared memory area. Can be accessed in any convenient way, such as by .. This information is in educational importance while the materials are presented. Control the material engine. Optionally, the document engine 703 is a remote database 705 And to access other remote resources available through the system network Can be done. This engine has these two input resources and three inputs as needed. Using resources, for example, teaching lessons, homework practice, teaching tools or joint education contests Produces a presentation 706 to students on strike. This presentation is ES and OS I / 0 Han Use the doller to generate the actual student display. As indicated by arrow 727, the document engine also handles agent actions 711. Generate a message directed to. Important points in education while the materials are presented In, the comment in the material causes the engine to send a message to the agent. Omat. These messages also include event type and related data (many). Contains instructions (including minute timing data). One student input is multiple Can generate a number of agent messages. On a wonder tree that is not important In addition, the material cannot generate agent Messe maintenance. Therefore, ahead Student action does not have input objections for materials or agents, Or if it has no educational significance for the agent, the system again , You can wait for the next student action at wait point 707. But if the message has been sent to the agent, the agent Action processing 711 is driven. Not limited but preferably in the examples , This process is based on the table. From policy filter table 708 The rules take into account the data contained in the incoming event message and also student data Data on student past grades and student educational models in object 712 Is evaluated in consideration of. For example, comparison with student history determines relative grades. Needed to. These rules suggest candidate agent actions To do. Next, the rules in the decision evaluation table 709 And the rules in the selection criteria table 710 filter the proposed actions And make a final list of agent actions. With two heads As indicated by arrow 728, these final actions are the student's current grades and achievements. Update information in student data object 712 with dynamic data be able to. They are also available for material, as indicated by arrow 728. Control information can be created. Finally, importantly, action is visual Can include display actions to display subjective agent behavior .. This list of final display actions is sent to agent behavior processing 716. Inappropriate visual agent behavior and empty list of display actions It is possible. In this case, the system will take additional students at waiting point 713. Wait for input action. Agent behavior processing 716 is an on-screen agent that responds to the previous action. Pronunciation table 714, display behavior table to generate a person's unique display Recent Priority and Agents in 715, and Student Data Object 712 Display action sent from agent action processing 711 in consideration of behavior recording Process the final list of options. The final action is the para included in the action Select the pronunciation template to be completed using the meter. According to student priority The person selected from the display behavior table will be displayed using these complete pronunciations. Project, and possibly animation scripts or applets (a pplets) and these are on the ES I / O facility for the final display 718 Sent. Agent behavior processing also uses information about this current behavior. , Update the student data object. By completing all possible processing of student input actions, the system At wait point 717, wait for the next student action or time interval. 5.5. Educational materials and tools This section is preferred for educational materials, student tools, and correspondence materials An embodiment will be described. In this example, these materials have a uniform structure And used by the material engine to properly generate display and executive functions Defined by material data. This uniform structure has all the materials and agents Allows uniform handling of the interface between. In another embodiment, an example For example, certain tools and group correspondence materials, in an advantageous way, need themselves Hold the agent interface It can be implemented separately as a separate program. Such a constant two Le includes calendars, dictionaries, encyclopedias, and group communications. Yet another In the examples of, each educational material is also required for the agent interface. It could be a separation program that includes a booth. This section first describes the general structure of educational materials and then is typical. Describes the tools available on the ABI system. 5.5.1. Educational materials In a preferred embodiment, a common material engine interprets specific material data. To perform the functions of instruction and tools. Need to be applied for other material noted The explanation will be given with reference to the educational materials that are said to be. First of all, looking at the material data, I like it In a good example, it is three for presentation items, sequence logic and annotations. Contains the main sections of. Presented items are preferred no matter what is displayed Or include what is represented as a display object that can be parameterized. .. These display objects can be packaged with the material data , Or can be downloaded from the server as needed. Annotation is Contains additional data related to material display. These include, for example, prerequisites Includes links to related resources, expected student grades, and help and tips To. Annotations preferably refer to parameters from material data and student grade input. In light, it is formed from a template. The material engine uses annotations to age Generates a message to Ent, which is part of the agent interface Includes. Sequence logic is executable or animates certain material It is an interpreted code that makes a mation. It is all the data in a particular document Refer to the data to cause an ordered display of the presented items and follow the annotations. Send a message to the agent. Material data is advantageously grouped into multiple entries, each entry -Represents the minimum item presented, which includes several screens. These en The tree is preferably at least a header or initialization entry and others. Specialized in the entry of. Table 2A shows the header entries for typical materials. But this is the first entry processed when the material is initialized ..<img file="JP2000511304A_D0005.tif" /><img file="JP2000511304A_D0006.tif" /> This header has some special features. Header frame -Kenslogic generally consists of definitions of variables and functions. Comprehensive variables Is shared among system components and is set by the agent. Sequential to be guided by variables, and agent controls Contains control variables that Slogic references and tests. These variables are like For example, it contains other parts of the agent interface and is a teaching time pace. New concept seeding speed, new example density, identification time pace You can control the difficulty or difficulty. Local variables are used during data processing -Available for Kens Logic. Comprehensive play function by sequence alley phrase It is a comprehensive system function that can be called. In addition, automatic dictionary collation, space Lecheck or encyclopedia automatic collation can be comprehensively implemented and shared To. In the Windows environment, the comprehensive feature is DLLs. Finally, the local machine Noh is available locally in sequence logic. For example, chemical calculators The use of computers can be a local feature. As a further example, education In the material, the local function is a check, a question to correct the user input It is useful as a score record. Annotations in header entries issue a material initialization message to the agent Bring it to life. These messages are inclusive of what they are about these materials. Any help, tips and tools on how they respond to variables Educational paradas used by the material, as well as importantly Notify the agent about Im. Preferably for this paradigm Information is organized according to educational material interface standards. See below I. Annotations are requirements and requirements for all materials And may also contain additional information, such as references to other materials and texts. Wear. Finally, the presented item can be, for example, an introductory screen. Table 2B shows typical entries processed during formal material presentation. ..<img file="JP2000511304A_D0007.tif" /> For this entry, the items presented are for display of materials. Sequen Slogic is the variables and other information in the material data, as well as any student input. In consideration of, this display is generated. Finally, the annotation is one at the time of initialization Changes in parameter sets, student grade data, student errors, and other teachings Brings agent messages that report useful information for growth. Also, the annotation is Even information specific to this frame, such as expected difficulty and timing Can include. Now let's take a look at the material engine, the subject chin processing step is executed Request software and download the material data requested by the educational material server Is to load. Then it processes the header entry and is a comprehensive variable And link to the function and send an initialization event message to the agent. The presentation is Once started, it interprets the sequence logic on the first frame for execution Or call. It goes from this frame and points to sequence logic Activate other frames as commanded. Finally, when the material sled is finished, note One of the stop messages commanded by the comment is sent to the agent and the cry The material is deleted from Ant. In a preferred embodiment, all of this material is carried out similarly. Educational materials, two Most differences between Le, and correspondence, are different comprehensive entries and raw It is in the presentation items including the cal entry and the sequence logic. All materials , Start of material and Stop, and generate agent messages to record student grades and errors Expected to have annotations to do. Preferably, this information is an educational material Reported in a standardized way according to interface standards. See below thing. 5.5.2. tool The ABI system has a wide range of needs and needs designed for students and teaching courses. And can be adapted to any student and teacher tools. For primary education, the following Better tools include certain general tools and communications, or collaborative learning and materials. I'm sorry. For commercial education, other tools may only be preferred. Schedule Le / Calendar tool allows access to materials according to student schedule In relation to doing so, preferably found in all examples. The counsel in this section is directed to implementation for primary education. Actual There is no limit to the tools that can be used on a line. 5.5.2.1. General tools General tools are preferably school-students, including progress levels and teacher permission. It exists within the range of the form selected according to the data in the data area. one One common tool is the calculator, which is a simple four-function calculator to a complex gra It can have a form that changes up to a computer. Other common tools include Pelcheckers, thesauruses, word processors, encyclopedias, and dictionaries Includes language tools like. Each to suit different progress levels You can give different levels to your language tools. In another embodiment, the word The word tool can be combined with the "starfish tool", which allows the user to "human" By placing a specific word in the center of the "de" and then selecting the appropriate arm for the starfish It makes it possible to obtain definitions, pronunciations, matches, synonyms or antonyms of words. other A common tool for is a word processor, probably a writing and drawing tool It has a drawing mode given as a multi-level set. Available to students Students and teachers can choose their writing and drawing abilities. Most A common tool later is the link maker, which is a companion, sequential learning, Provides various types of memory exercises such as ordered sequential learning and mnemonics .. Finally, add additional tools to your equipment to meet your special educational needs. Can be done. For example, you can add a map tool for a geography lesson. student For the project Encyclopedia tools and network survey tools can be added. Study Study Buddies (trade name) is a keyword and operator usage. Can give instructions on the use of tools, such as for. Specialized tools can be added for commercial or industrial training. 5.5.2.2. File system tools The preferred common tool in many examples is fa with student access. Il system. Given to the system in many cases, including primary education Full browsing of the file system and access to the file system are drawbacks There is a possibility of becoming. As a conclusion, the present invention is a student-based system difference system. A file system front end that allows you to browse and restrict access to this , Or consider providing a file system tool. This special tool Implemented to your advantage as part of the session manager, not as a resource .. In practice, the customized icon file representation will be displayed on the display. Managed as part of the stem area. One example of such a file system tool is a book on a bookshelf (each of which). It has sections, and each section has a page). Present the file system. The books that correspond to the dictionary of files are for student users. Opens when the icon is selected. Students by selecting the tab Alternatively, you can move page by page by selecting the next page, the last page, or another button. Navigate the dictionary book by. Students will probably have new pages and sexuality Interacts with a selected page or file in a book by opening it. Ma Also, students can close the book. Most needs for rudimentary purposes A single bookshelf with several specialized books is sufficient. More advanced For students, create multiple shelves with new books, book-to-book pages and sexuality You can give permission to cut and paste and use it. book of Pages, files are preferably presented with the material that processes them. For example The text or graphic page created by the user is in a state where the word processor is driven. appear. Homework and instruction pages appear with appropriate resources. 5.5.2.3. Schedule / calendar tool Schedules / calendars are an important tool and are preferably always present To. That is, when the ABI system started the material, the students said about the material. Allowed and Accessed to make sure it is scheduled. It's a schedule supplement Comprehensive function by agents in response to transcendental requests from students seeking help Is accessed. It's also a calendar tool that looks like a student's desktop Students can also access it directly by using the icon. access Once done, this tool learns the calendar book so that it can be seen in several ways Display raw. In this section, first about the schedule / calendar data, then , Explains schedule / calendar processing. Schedule / calendar Data is a subtype of school-student data area. Optionally, the student's personal Schedules can be included within student data objects. In general This data contains the following files for each scheduled student activity: .. Scheduled activities and optionally recognized messages; Activity priority; Deadline date and time, or continuous activity with regular requirements but no completion date Definition of motion; A link to the material for the activity, which can identify the criteria for completing the activity For the activities of one student, this is typically a special educational material; Guru For group learning activities, see the list of students in the group and other correspondence May be in the calendar entry; Features of the activity, for example, this is entertained by either a student or a teacher And this is completely marked by either the student or the system Or; Status of activity, status of perfection, and status of any required report submission. These exemplary data, sufficient to define the planned activity, are provided by the teacher. Alternatively, students can enter alternately. Entry by teacher When it is done, it can be protected from changes made by students. Data entry , Preferably assisted by a teacher tool with the proper screen format .. Voluntary activities can be entertained by students if the teacher permits. The schedule / calendar tool is commanded by the teacher and has a range of schedules. Allow students to take the initiative in setting Joules. These initiatives are documented Students' activities by giving them the freedom to schedule as they wish Fixed order of It can be extensive, from enforcing schedules / to requesting calendars. Wear. In a preferred embodiment, this is deadline day / hour (D), reference priority. School-initiative parameters in student data, including degree (P), teacher Is achieved by identifying. Next, the schedule / calendar is D or less Automatically schedule all work with deadlines and P or higher priority Set. By changing D and P for the scheduled work, the teacher Can achieve a specified range of initiatives. Schedule / calendar processing by execution software, by students, by students Alternatively, it can be called by an agent. As explained earlier, students Execution software at the beginning of a session or after the end of use of certain materials A calls the schedule / calendar tool, and first of all, the finished work is complete To mark an activity and then find an activity requesting a schedule In addition, refer to the calendar data in consideration of the initiative parameters. This tool But if you find only one activity in the schedule required by the calendar, The requested activity of is started. If multiple requested activities are found , This tool initiates a high priority requested activity, or any requested Let students choose whether to start a new job. When there is no requested activity, the schedule The tool / calendar tool learns the next task choice through the session manager Allow raw. Schedule / calendar tools do not have a system area for students to display Can be called by selecting the Schedule / Calendar icon Wear. When called in this way, this tool is a student calendar and scheduled View activities in a variety of formats, from monthly overviews to personal activity details .. If permitted, students can enter any item or mark item to complete Can be made. The schedule / calendar tool also said, "What should I do next?" Called by an agent when receiving a transcendental request for a type of student Can be done. This agent takes the requested and planned furniture road Student grades received from tools and also obtained from student data objects and Based on the average time required for each task obtained from the document header, each Determine the estimated time to complete the work. Considering this combined information , Agents at the time of their expected completion Depending on the time, the order list of the activity schedule can be presented to the students .. 5.5.2.4. Communication tools and group learning materials In a preferred embodiment, the ABI system is assembled in the rest of the system. Includes embedded correspondence or group study materials. Other tools and resources As in the case of charges, access to correspondence materials is scheduler / calendar two. Given by Le. Correspondence workgroups are assigned within the student calendar And scheduled, the calendar is preferably the names of group members and other Contains communication parameters. These materials are driven by the scheduler Then, the communication group is started. Alternatively, students can choose correspondence materials Therefore, it is possible to voluntarily request the formation of a communication group. Students are requested by others If you don't have any activity, the scheduler / calendar tool will do group activity Can be allowed. Alternatively, each special correspondence is also preferably a teacher. Controls the types of communication allowed and who is allowed to communicate, as set by It can also have special access control. Communication materials are agent interfaces in a format similar to other tools and materials. Has a booth. When driven, these send initialization event messages to the agent Send, comprehensive control variables they will feel, applied educational paradigm , And identify available tips, help and other communication parameters. another In the examples, this educational material interface standard is agent specific. Communication-based study that allows you to control these materials with Includes a special category for. While studying correspondence, these materials are educational Generate an event message at a critical point. This allows the correspondence to be fully incorporated into the ABI embodiment. Furthermore, good In a further embodiment, the correspondence material is carried out in the same manner as other materials. Primarily Each correspondence material is special, specific to the correspondence material or form of group study. Has communication work. This communication work is provided by the OS and ES A special type of communication or group by using a network protocol Manage network interfaces for activities and through ABI system The communication function is given as a comprehensive play function for access. Second, this Functions such as, like other materials, refer to the presented items, these comprehensive communication functions. Generate event messages for sequence logic and agents Note It will be made available to students through special material data, including explanations. In another embodiment, this correspondence is independent of the material engine and probably It can be a program that is part of the relevant means of communication, which is the required age Ent event message is generated internally. In each of the examples, communication material production Karma is written in either the ABI execution language or a special purpose communication scripting language be able to. Special correspondence materials in preferred embodiments may be shared in group studies or on materials. Email or message exchange to link student groups for the same work , And provide a form of collaborative work such as a contest by regulation. Each of these For the rest of this section about forms of group study or communication It will be explained in. The first form of group study carried out by correspondence is e-mail and A newsgroup. These are the teachers' changes in schedules and materials Useful for sending such information to their class and also communicate with absent students Useful to believe. Teachers also exchange information between teachers, or Get help for stems or other issues. Students can use this pho Hep and advice can be obtained, especially from remote sources, using To be able to communicate with teachers such as, and to study or share interests with other students Can be done. Email and newsgroups are easy as mentioned above Can be captured. Then give access to these features and get the right A Material data that generates a gent event message is created. Student links are another form of group study performed by correspondence Is. Students in sessions at different clients have a variety of illustrated activities Can be linked together for. Such activities include voice or te When you have a simple conversation with each other by a quist, or when you make a document using a word processor. Individual students have similar roles, or simulations or games Includes collaborative work on specific materials that have different roles, as in the case of Get caught. Other activities of linked students include the location of participants in the virtual environment. Includes group activities that determine roles within the activity. Link student groups The final example of activity for is probably the spatial harmonization performed on the server system. It is a harmony activity in which participation is controlled by karma. An example of this latter activity will be discussed later. This is a spelling contest rally that will be explained in detail. In a preferred embodiment, the student link includes the following steps: First Step The idea is that one student recognizes another student to which it is linked. This guru In the schedule / calendar entry for this activity, Or the teacher decides on special communication access control for this link work activity Can be done. Second, a link must be established between the students to be linked Absent. These links are single server communications that receive and deliver messages. Can be document work. Third, local and comprehensive activities are decided Must be. Local activity is visible only to the user who is doing the activity It produces force. Comprehensive activities produce output visible to all linked students It will occur. These comprehensive activities are all linked to each student's input Communicating with other students, sharing information among all linked students, Students in the linked group collaborate and co-create information Can include storing stored information. The fourth step in link formation is It is to disconnect from the linked group in order. Opportunity formation can also be performed in other ways. In all implementations, phosphorus Communication tools and materials for the activities mentioned are one of the methods mentioned above. Therefore, it is integrated with other components of the ABI system. Simple implementation Message Eri for each student with an icon and a link on each student's screen To give a. Alternatively, you can set up one or more shared material areas. it can. Communication is via a single server work that all linked students connect to. Will be delivered. The implementation of more advanced link formation is multi-user dungeon (multi) -Adopt a software package similar to user dungeons) ("Muds") And this allows the user to interact with others or with each element in the room. Contains a set of virtual shared traverse spaces (referred to as "rooms"). MUDs Have different roles for different students to access different system capabilities It is especially preferred for such group work. For example, one person's study Raw must be a recorder with write access to the group's notes Data that can be and another student has access to the body of related data Can be a base expert. MUDs are also a special topic and flow Communicate secret stories about the formation of newsgroups with each other in the "room" It is also useful for teachers. Another form of group work performed by correspondence is a structured re-formation. Link shape It is made. Constructed links where students have different or structured roles An important example of success is an education contest. An example of such a contest is Superior This is a meeting, and a specific example will be explained here. In this example, a collection of spellings The meeting is managed by a server communication material work called a server spelling rally task. Reasoned, this is preferably a row on the participating student's client system It runs on a server system that communicates with the Calspelling rally task. general In addition, the server spelling rally task is a student's local spelling rally task. Start a spelling rally by accumulating connections, then student axes By controlling the spelling, it mediates the spelling rally, and the order of the spelling rally. Give an orderly end. Local spelling rally tasks are spelling rally materials Provides the means of communication that data accesses or requires, which is the client system Scheduled or selected to call spelling rally attendance on To. These materials also send event messages to agents and students Controlled by the agent. Alternatively, the local spelling rally task is Program to communicate with agents and hold spelling rallies without material data Can be done. More specifically, the spelling rally task performs the following steps: Spa Ring rally server work starts at the teacher's request, or system Starts automatically by. The list of qualified students is selected by the teacher Or a student datao that includes standard interests in class members and spelling meetings Automatically determined by server work based on the data in the project. Spelling rally activities can be scheduled by the teacher for each student Can be selected by the student. Hope students enter into spelling rallies At that time, the ES initiates a local spelling rally task and the manager Is returned to the server. If you do not receive a response within the specified time, you must participate It is judged that it shows the will of. This is the first student data object When indicating that it is a Pelling rally, it depends on the agent in the server work Therefore, teaching and warm-up sequences are allowed for students. Enough When qualified students attended the spelling rally, the server work continued and If not, send an end message to the participating students to end it. Each local Spelling rally tasks on the student display, with other players and his Indicates input Get the pace. Then the spelling rally begins and the server work is graded Spelling words selected from the list of words and spelling these words Broadcast the name of the user who wants to broadcast. Each local work is preferably on-screen To request voices and words from agents as proper and expensive pronunciation Repeat the sent words. Spelling rally materials are for students' local age Inform Ent of the student's progress and grades in the spelling rally materials. Sir Bar work accepts input from the specified user's local work and broadcasts it. .. Server work determines and reports on the accuracy of the completed response, and also If correct, exclude the student from further spelling requirements. Student is short sperrin When leaving the rally, the server work will be informed of it and the player will continue to work. Send a message to your work to update those workspaces. husband In each case, the student's priority for further spelling rallies is checked and the student The priority data in the data object is updated. Only one student remains When you are, the server spelling rally task ends the game and reports the results To do. 5.6. Agent and agent interface Agents are an important component of the invention and are student data objects. Act, agent interface, agent processing, and agent Compatibility is described in more detail in this section. Various agents Data on student performance and student pedagogical models on the materials It has a student data object, including data. Other system components I like it so that agents can control the material and teach students evenly. Or it has an interface to the agent. Agent processing Is in two phases: agent action processing and agent behavior processing It is divided. Finally, regarding agent suitability in another preferred embodiment I will explain. 5.6.1. Student data object One student data object created in the ABI system for each student However, this is a storage container for data about the student. This student data is , Fixed data that defines the student, and the interaction with the student's system. It contains long data, the latter at least current and past grades and students Contains data that defines the agent's views on. Preferably, the student data object is a student day that is portable under student control. It is stored on a portable medium such as a data. In this example, a portable student day The object is plugged into the client system and checked for access Students will be identified when they are asked. In addition, directly while the system is running Or indirectly access to polymorphic student data objects via agents As explained earlier, each element in the software of the material that asks for information is accessed. Available before being given a space. Alternatively, the student data object is a student Download from the server system when you access the client system Can be Also in this example, software activation and the same The determination is done in an advantageous way. In each example, the student is from the ABI system. Can access any client system in preparation for instruction To. In certain embodiments of the ABI system, the school or other provider of education is a student. Data related to can be kept in the school-student data area. This de Data is a special course or study such as education progress data, school schedule, etc. Contains school-specific information for school data retention and privacy policies Therefore, it is retained. School-Student data in messages generated by agents Therefore, it can be updated and sent to the school server system. Also, the agent For example, in response to a schedule setting transcendental inquiry from a student, You can look up this school-student data to guide you through the process. another In an example, this school-student data is stored in a student data object. be able to. This is for primary or secondary education, with only one student in one school Can be advantageous when in. Student data objects for the sake of brevity, not intended to be limiting The following description of the content and operation of is in accordance with such another embodiment. In the attached figure, a data subta that can be stored in the school-student area of the appropriate example. The ip or field is suffixed with "(S)". Preferably all fruits Data subtypes and fields that are part of the student data object in the example Is suffixed with "(A)". In this subsection, this latter Data is closely related to agent student model and agent processing Therefore, it is called agent-specific data. 10A, 10B and 11 show the structure and behavior of the student data object. Figure Shown. Figures 10A and 10B optionally include school-student data. A structural example of the data object 1101 is conceptually shown. This is a structured de An object with data 1102 and method 1103 for accessing and updating the data. Ject. Both agent-specific data and school-student data Material-related data 1105, including comprehensive data 1104, tool-related data 1106 in general, It is divided into current lesson data 1107 and log data 1108. Comprehensive data defined as meaningful information throughout the ABI material , System data, agent behavior priority data 1109, agent student model It contains subtypes such as data 1110 and schedule data 1111. System data includes student recognition, student password, access rights, progress level, and class Includes registration etc. Such information is typically school-student data. .. Both agent behavior priority and agent student model information are age Ent specific data. Agent behavior Behavior priority data 1109 is age Related to the multi-modal behaviors generated by the ent, these behaviors as well as the past Includes student-defined priorities for an overview of agent behavior. Student priority Gender has no visual appearance of the agent (race, gender, clothing, or visual appearance) ) Related options can also be included, as well as phonetic behavior and texting Can include similar options for. Overview of past agent behavior Is used to assist in the selection of reasonably altered future mulch-style behaviors. .. Agent student model data 1110 is a term that models the persistent behavior of students. Includes eyes, which agents use to personalize their interactions with students To. Such data items are preferred for retention rate, hint effectiveness, and preference. Can include praise. Further data types in the agent student model Can include a student's intelligence scale, temperament, personality style, etc. Intelligence scale For example, Howard Gardner's measure of multifaceted intelligence is: Many aspects of a student's personality can be identified. Personality style is right brain / left brain Can include intuition / formal priorities such as priorities. ABI client learns The data object that occurs when interacting with life and as the student grows Ect updates give students agent suitability. Finally, schedule de Data 111 is homework scheduled by the teacher or education provider Related to, students cannot change, typically school-study Raw data. Data for each schedule item includes deadlines and remai You can include data warnings and priorities. The courses that students are currently enrolled in are for materials that provide guidance for this course. Has another source related data area 1105. Agent-specific data and schools -Includes both student data. In the illustrated embodiment, this latter data sub The type is the purpose and standard that the student must meet in a particular course Standard and reference data (usually set by the school system), including students already Includes itinerary data that probabilities the objectives met. Such information is typically School-student data. Information about student progress, grades, and tool usage Is typically agent-specific data. The progress data is left in the material by the student However, it contains data that needs to be reproduced at some point in time. Grade data 11 12 is related to student grades over several lessons in the material and averaged Grades, grade-weighted moving averages, grade patterns, use of hints, use of retries, and And can include the required corrections. Such grade data, such as average And by using a weighted moving average, student performance is improved or Allows the agent to determine if it is down. Tool data 1106 Is essential with respect to the use of system tools such as calculators, dictionaries and word processors Is similar, but contains more abbreviated data. This data is usually Contains only itinerary and grade information. For example, in the case of a reading course, the agent-specific data is the achieved reading. Includes speed, level of vocabulary achieved, and recognition of complex sentences be able to. The status of each lesson presented by the educational materials is collected in the current lesson data 1107. Stacked, which is preferably agent-specific data. This sub tie The class is created when the class starts and deleted when the class is completed. One In the example of, it is a measure of performance in short terms (eg error rate, error). -Weighted moving averages of rates, use of hints, and retries), and when in short terms Measures of interim potential (eg time to complete a lesson segment, and this) The agent can save the information characteristic of educational materials (weighted moving average of such time). Working area (eg parameters used to form multimedia presentations, and Includes lesson coach parameters 1113). Class coach parameters are set by the agent Give feedback on educational materials and present them to students Used to allow personalization according to the grades of. These paras The meter is also dominated by the teaching modality adopted in certain educational materials And the new concept of milk rate, time pace of presentation, density of examples and ratio of reinforcement Can include values such as. Finally, the student data object has a link to student log 1108. This log is preferably kept on a server system outside the student data object. Existing School-Student Data. It's a data object update method (this is Updated by a message generated by (called by the agent) Will be done. According to school data retention and privacy policies, the logs are Aegee All messages entered in input processing and all from agent behavior processing Save all actions. Preferably, this data is for teachers, administrators and parents. Used to create a report for. It is also the creator of educational materials And used by educational researchers, they may improve educational materials or new Student behavior and available in the log to develop teaching modality A detailed inspection report of the system response can be used. With its carefully separated and functionally defined interface, A BI systems can be easily adapted to new modality as well , New materials can be easily installed. Student data objects also have access, data update methods, and data questions. Includes matching method. These methods are advantageous in that they are accessed. A special application programming interface ("A", depending on the function type of the data Grouped into PI "). As explained earlier, those who access the API The law confirms students trying to access a portable data object and it Check the software before making any student data object request And recognize. The illustrated update method 1114 has two components, namely the event bird. Includes Gartype 1115 and Action List 1116. Confirmed and recognized System components update to student data objects When requested for agent processing, the agent issues the update event type and Send a message to the object containing a list of related parameters. Update event To find the trigger event type that matches the event type, the update method Will be investigated. One or more methods with matching event types are renewal events All in the included action list using the parameters in the sage It is carried out by executing an action. Each action was supplied Use the parameters to update the data elements in the student data object. Prior to any update, the update method executes the rule, eg, occurs less often By not doing this, it is advantageous to ensure that the update is generally reasonable. To. One event typically causes changes in several student model data elements In general, multiple actions are associated with each method because they are targeted. example For example, update events related to the use of tools include related tool data subtypes as well. Make changes in related educational material subtypes. Furthermore, when the lesson is completed, it is suitable The earnestly implemented method is all permanent student data from the current lesson subtype. Summarize to data subtypes. As a further example, at the end of the lesson, in the agent student model data 1110 Parameters such as "hint effectiveness" are also updated. This "hint effectiveness" The parameters are accessed for use, including agent decision evaluation. Event One method related to the type "End of class" is the method illustrated below, "Hin". Update the Effectiveness parameter. Grade parameter 1120 "Use hints" It is set to determine if an update is needed. If tips provide to students If so, the "current lesson log" 1105 has two parameters, "hint effectiveness". Components, namely "Hint Validity-Before First Attempt" and "Hint Valid" Gender-used for the calculation of "after the first trial". Each of these two components Holds a column of values used to calculate the weighted moving average. In another embodiment A more complex formulation of this parameter is used for hint effectiveness Gives a more detailed analysis of. That is, the subject of each of the two components Sub-components for rear, hint type, and other teaching useful means Can be divided into two. For data elements, including special students, in various ways to enter Therefore, it is more preferable to classify equivalent peers into student data objects. This includes student comparisons resulting from school-student data on the school server system Respond to the message and take the appropriate student data object update method It can be done by a gent. Figure 11 shows how a typical student action event is a student data object. Update It is an example which shows whether to do. Update message 1201 sends 1206 to agent processing. Send from component to student data object to update student model .. The update event type is "Practice done" and an example of related parameters is shown in 1202. It has been. In this case, method 1203 with the trigger event type "practice done", It is carried out by performing four related actions. First action Updates related data elements in tool data subtype 1106. second Actions preferably send an informational message describing this event to the server. Update log 1108 by sending it to the stem. The third action is the current Update the temporal potential data element 1205 in lesson subtype 1107. At the end, The fourth action is the student grade data element 12 in the current lesson subtype 1107. Update 04 Need to determine the value of a special data element in a student data object Confirmed and recognized components of the ABI system you are using are desired Contact the student data object requesting the data element of Do it by sending a page. How to contact for the data element , Search for the desired value and return. Such inquiries are mainly for student clients Performed by an agent on the system. School-Student data is server system In a preferred embodiment stored separately from the student data object on the system Such inquiries are directly addressed by the Inquiry and Report Generation Program. It is done in contact. A further aspect of student data object behavior is the portable student data object. Includes backup and initialization of student data objects. Reliable Portable for certain confidentiality and integrity, especially in case of loss or physical damage Keep student data objects backed up on the backcup system Is advantageous. In addition, such backups are portable student data objects. It is desirable to protect the privacy of the information in the computer. Therefore, the hard disk Or for portable media such as floppy disks, already coded A copy of the data is sent to the backup system for storage. Smart mosquitoes For polymorphic media on the card, an interface can be provided, which is a backpack. For backup storage, the stored data is taken out as a coded flow. Backups are preferably educationally sufficient events and end of local sessions. It is done with sufficient subdivision, such as Ryo. Student data of stored in the center Jects are directed to objects in the database where they are stored. Backed up according to the facility. In addition, it is advantageous to initialize the new student data object. By this Educational materials have the advantage of agents who already know about students And also a time-consuming and perhaps monotonous initial agent model The process for building can be greatly shortened. Early model for teaching Dell is refined and sharpened as described above. Such an early stage The conversion can be done in many ways. First, the student is personally or a teacher, An agent's educational model or study by someone who is knowledgeable about the parent or student You can directly enter estimates of the parameters used in the raw recognition model To. Second, model parameters are exams given to students prior to any instruction Can be derived from. Such exams are early on for student data objects Can include those specially made for conversion, as well as standard exams for student abilities Wear. The latter includes IQ exams for student abilities and ABLE (trade name) for adult abilities. ) Test, temperament for personality profile Thorndike Test of Te mperament) (TDOT; trade name) etc. are included. Special IQ test to which the present invention is applicable Is a Stanford-Binet IQ test and Wechsler (trade name) IQ test. For certain special student data object fields, special initialization Can be provided arbitrarily. Reading skills are well known in educational technology Measurement and initialization according to standard reading and vocabulary tests can do. Many intellectual traits, right / left brain priorities, etc., about the student First manually by someone who has the knowledge of It can be periodized. 5.6.2. Agent / document interface The structure of the interface between the agent and the material is in the ABI system. Is important. It's a wide range of one agent guiding one student Allows control of surrounding materials. Agents of the student's pedagogical characteristics This is achieved by holding the model in an advantageous way, but the agent does not Refer to this property in a variety of situations to determine actions. This sex First, I will explain the general procedural structure of this interface, and then this I like the content of the interface Explain the model. This preferred model is the Educational Materials Interface Standard ( Here, it is called "INIS"). Communication between the agent and the material is bidirectional. Events involving parameters In the event of an educationally important event, the material will be sent to the agent. In response The agent then sends comprehensive parameters to control the material, depending on the material. Returns a message confirming the suggested action. Material is agent and co -In environments that require a localized display, it synchronizes with the agent And communicate. For example, when a student requests a help or hint, the material is Needs to get agent permission synchronously to give loops or hints Can be said. In other environments, materials asynchronously agency informational messages Send to Such non-simultaneous agent inputs and possible outputs are systematic. It can give the mu a spontaneous appearance. The agent / material interface is a given OS in any convenient way. Can be performed in. For example, it's a clear message, shared memorial, rear , Call a procedure to a socket interface, or build on top of other technologies be able to. Comprehensive parameters set by the agent to control the material are good Furthermore, because the material sequence logic determines educationally important sequences. It is a state variable referred to in. The meaning of state variables for which special material is sensitive to it , Established when initializing the material according to the details in the header material data entry Can be Examples of such variables control the availability of help and hints From simple flags to control, introduction of new concepts, density of examples or speed of identification practice It extends to more sophisticated parameters such as. Material-to-agent communication is controlled by annotations in the material data .. The annotations are the type of event, the parameters associated with the event, and the event being constructed. Includes the conditions to be sent. Annotations are that they sequence in the material data Driven when encountering logic. These are two classifications of annotations, namely "dots" And "toggle" annotations. Dot annotations say they were driven It will be evaluated exactly once. Toggle annotations follow after they are driven It is evaluated at the time of each input event until it is inactivated by the annotation. Annotations change according to the material. Some material, like a simple email, Annotate Not included. Note that the tool documentation only shows whether the tool is used correctly or not Can include a comment. Most educational material data contains several types of annotations I'm out. In general, the events caused by these annotations are similar to the following: Send news: number of retries, fluency drill, speed measure in, correct percent Grade scales such as the number of trials and trials, division of exercise items into similar pairs, and And a measure of the relative difficulty of the item. Table 2C is an example of the types of annotations produced by typical educational material. Table 2C: Annotation types<img file="JP2000511304A_D0008.tif" />5.6.2.1. Agent / Material Interface Standard Student agents generally work to give guidance and materials to students To be able to control the book in a personalized way to suit the educational characteristics of the student Examples of the invention use the educational material interface standard (referred to here as "IMIS"). It is preferable to use. According to IMIS, the message generated by the annotation Jen Ruru details sent to the door is, follow the specific educational paradigm that article to adopt Moreover, it is preferably composed of a standard format independent of the specific content of the material. In addition, the material is intended in this standard. It is preferable to adopt a set of limited and defined educational paradigms. .. Finally, the agent performs its associated processing in the student data object. The rules referenced in the table and grade data are structured according to IMIS standards. Is preferable. As a result, IMIS will be able to create independent materials from the perspective of student grades. Provide to Gentle IMIS is not limited to any particular set of educational paradigms. Suitable for intended students Any standard set (or multiple sets) of Radime is an interface standard. Can be adopted. The standards adopted are Educational Psychology and Acoustic Education Pla It is preferably based on the principle of Kutis. Below, follow the ice cream suitable for primary education The present invention will be described. The paradigms described below are not restrictive. Examples of educational paradigms Table 3 lists examples of educational paradigms, also known as teaching modes. Table 3: Examples of educational paradigms<img file="JP2000511304A_D0009.tif" /> Each of these educational paradigms preferably varies from agent to agent. Treated differently in response to descriptive information and student grade data. For example , A sequence of correct responses in fluency practice is expected. On the other hand, with friends The agent comments on the correct sequence of responses in the practice Can be worth it. Paradigm classification example The IMIS examples standardize these educational paradigms according to three pieces of information. Transform: That is, the content of the instruction, the format of the instruction, and the most specific Is the subject area. The ABI system specifies any number (or zero) Although applicable to materials, material annotations preferably maximize all pieces. -It should be specified for gent flexibility. If zero is specified, Agent actions are independent of the educational paradigm. The content of the instruction is a special mode of instruction presented to the student by the material. Guidance An example of the content is: Table 4: Examples of instruction content<img file="JP2000511304A_D0010.tif" />Among the contents of each instruction, the material is the instruction format, the second component of the IMIS statement. Nent can be adopted. An example of a teaching format is: Table 5: Examples of teaching formats<img file="JP2000511304A_D0011.tif" /> Finally, student grades are preferred as they are required for course level reporting. It should be preserved for the subject area on which it works. Therefore, exemplify The third component of IMIS is a subject area such as math or reading. .. Example of agent data standardization IMIS provides these three pieces of information that characterize the educational paradigm adopted by the material (within guidance). According to the content, instruction format, subject area), for agent action processing Standardize related system tables and data. In the following explanation, of the material Standardization of annotations inside, standardization of data in student data objects, and A Gent action processing Describe the standardization of the bull. The annotations in the material are standardized according to IMIS as follows: Classes, practice, For each item, each sample is a standard set of educational paradigms or fingers. Adopt the guidance mode. Parameters sent to the agent in the event message Is determined by the teaching content of this parada and each teaching format. The table below is a sequence of annotations for the "Prerequisite Review" educational paradigm. And related to the agent action processing that each annotation sends to the agent Includes parameter examples. Table 6: Examples of annotations for reviewing prerequisites<img file="JP2000511304A_D0012.tif" />The aspect of these annotations is to provide information about the student response room. , In this example, given by the a priori probability of the correct answer. For example, two Choosing the correct answer from the choices is 0.5, if the choices are random. It has prior probabilities. Filling the blank exactly is a clue during practice Without it, the odds are low by chance. Advantageously, with the given teaching content and given teaching format Annotations containing parameters should be saved as templates in the library Can be done. Advantageously, annotations are required during material initialization and during material processing. It is available in these libraries to generate various messages. Therefore, the education designer is a wound These libraries to get the appropriate annotations for the educational paradigm of the materials you make You just need to look up. The standardization of student data objects according to this IMIS example for primary education , Save student grade data according to instruction content, instruction format and subject area It is easily achieved by doing. This will focus on the educational characteristics of students. It is possible to take these characteristics into consideration when making a general comparison throughout a. Wear. The final component of IMIS standardization is the agent action processing table, Policy filter table, decision weight table, and selection rule. Document Event messages from the agent to the agent in the content and format of the instruction Tell the current value. These values are the conditions and machines contained in these tables. These tables because they are parameters that can be obtained by evaluating the ability. Virtually correspond to special instructional content and and instructional formats, respectively. It can be divided into parts. There is considerable overlap between these parts of the table Therefore, the number of rules does not increase. Also, the current subject area is Agent Axis. To separate tables for subjects that can require special processing by processing Is also available. In addition, IMIS standardization is for setting comprehensive variables in the material. Allows for more systematic and effective use of the mechanisms used by agents To. These variables facilitate the adaptation adjustment of the teaching parameters. These weird The number is the current educational value indicated by the current value of the content and format of the instruction. It can be set more effectively in consideration of the radius. IMIS also said, "I In answering the question "Where are you?" And giving information to students It is useful. The system uses the information contained in the entity in the three-part information For example, "You are in the middle of a fractional drill and practice." can do. Another example of an agent made possible by IMIS In another example of agent action processing, the policy filter table Bull and division of judgment weight table (this is each type of instruction content, instruction form -Gives a simplified "intellectual teaching agent" for Matt) It can be enhanced by other techniques derived from Noh. Therefore, the action table Customized rules and features included in the bull are enhanced software It can be a module, but this is an extension of the agent and Also rule transmission or neural nets It is built on technology such as a built-in production rule system. Such an additional Modules are, for example, a complex pattern of student d that education designers did not anticipate. You will be able to find Ra. Additional artificial intelligence method is agent software Since it is incorporated into the wear, it is possible to add new annotations to the annotation repertoire. Wear. 5.6.3 Agent action processing Agent processing responds to input events with an on-screen agent table Agent action processing to determine the indicated action and display on the student display It is divided into agent action processing that transfers actions. In preferred embodiments , Agent action processing is rule-based, event-driven, Gent behavior processing is based on the table. This section and subsequent sections A preferred embodiment of the division of these agent processes will be described. Figure 8 shows the agent action processing in detail. This process is an I / O hand Educationally meaningful messages from input events or materials sent by La Event message 801 representing one of the above is sent to the agent software Will start when The agent software is the input event message The display action that activates the agent display Convert to strike and change student data object 806 as shown by arrow 815 Set new important side effects and teaching material control parameters indicated by arrow 816 It has an important side effect. Certain input events are these outputs and side effects You can either generate all the work, or you can prevent it from happening at all. It is possible. The agent action process proceeds through three steps. That is, Event filtering, candidate action weighting, and display It is a choice of action. Similarly, each of these steps correlates with the rules of the rules table. Represents the rule. These rules include relationships, functions, processes, all of which are input parameters. Refer to the data. Input parameters are held in the input event message as appropriate Consists of data or appropriate data stored in student data object 806 Can be. In particular, the following parts of the student data model, as indicated by arrow 815: The field from the type is referenced. That is, the current lesson partial type and teaching materials are special It is a subtype that has been transformed into a part, and a student model part type of the agent teaching method. Aeger Interfaces and other implementations where the data is configured according to the IMIS standard In the example, the event input parameter is the current educational parada adopted by the teaching material. Contains the parameters that characterize Im. Reference and use these parameters Only applicable rules of this paradigm can be selected for operation. Returning to the agent action processing step, the first step is the event It is an iltering 807 and refers to the policy filter table 803. This step The options are described with reference to Table 7, which is an illustrated policy filter table. Table 7: Policy filter table<img file="JP2000511304A_D0013.tif" /> The first line illustrates the general policy filter rules, the subsequent lines are exemplary filters Illustrate the rules. General rules have conditional propositions and hypothetical propositions. Conditional proposition is 1 Above condition PnBoule equation B (), where each condition is of the available parameters It is a function. The default parameter in the rule is the parameter from the input event It can be overwritten. Hypothetical proposition is agent action type "type", age Ent action subtype "subtype" and parameter x greater than or equal to zeronSquirrel To. The type is the main mode of agent behavior, for example "congratulations to students" Mode And the partial type modifies the behavior, for example, "for the student's pace". To do. These parameters provide additional information, eg, used to construct vocalizations. For example, a student spent an item or ending the name of that item Provide time. Each rule is probably the result of selection during the initialization of the material. , Or as a result of selection according to the IMIS education paradigm parameters Or it can be marked as invalid. The processing of filter rules is first done with each Evaluate the effect Boolean, and secondly, for each such valid and true equation, tentative Put the proposition and its parameters in the list of candidate actions. Candidate action The list then proceeds to the next processing step, the action weighting 808. Gaku Even for raw data objects, the day specific to the current lesson subtypes and materials Data subtype updated with data from input event message as needed Will be done. For example, you need to update the achievement result at the end of the item. Action weighting step 808 refers to the decision weighting table 804 and the input Assign a numeric weight to each action in the supplementary action list. This step Is described with reference to Table 8, which is an exemplary decision weighting table. Table 8: Decision weighting table<img file="JP2000511304A_D0014.tif" />The first line illustrates the general filter rules, the subsequent lines show the example filter rules Illustrated. The general rule has an index and weight function. index Is a pair of types and subtypes, and the hypothetical proposition has a value between 0 and 1 and is greater than or equal to zero. Lameter xnIs a weighting function of. Each rule is a selection during the initialization of the teaching material As a result or as a result of choices according to the IMIS education paradigm parameters , Can be marked as valid or invalid. In the list of candidate actions For each candidate action, the process has a type and a weight with a subtype that matches that type. Determined by selecting a rule and assigning a weighting function to the available parameters Re Assign a relative priority between 0 and 1 to the action. In this way, the weather Numerical weighting is applied to all candidate actions on the supplementary action list. The list of weighted candidate actions is then the final processing step, a. Proceed to action selection step 809. In action selection step 809, refer to the selection criteria table 805 for input candidate axes. Select the final action set from the list. This step is an example It is described with reference to Table 9, which is a selection criterion table. Table 9: Selection criteria table<img file="JP2000511304A_D0015.tif" /> Is this selection criteria table a list of available methods for candidate action selection processing? Is composed of. Selection criteria are calculated weights, and perhaps other parameters Use to select one or more final actions from the candidate weighted actions To. Illustrative selection criteria are illustrated in the last two lines. Of the selection during the initialization of the teaching material As a result or as a result of choices according to the IMIS education paradigm parameters It is expected that one criterion will be effectively marked. Valid criteria are zero or less Applies to the final action above. Some final actions are performed locally And as shown by arrow 816, the teaching material by setting the control parameters Give control to. The other final action is the age, especially indicated by arrow 815. Feeling about student data objects in subtypes of the Ent teaching method model Can be updated. The remaining final actions are Display Action List 8 This is a display action that proceeds to the agent action process of 02. Student data object The action is updated to record the selected display action. Action processing has two incoming events, namely "more difficult than LIM" Accompanying "Item end" type input event and "Practice question completion" type input a Illustrative rules in Tables 7, 8 and 9 considering the processing results of the two input events of the vent Illustrated with reference to the law. Applying the example filter rules from Table 7 gives two candidates You get the action. One is (congratulation, diff) and the other is (congrat) ulations, done). There is no other example Boolean equation to truly evaluate. next , The example weighting rules from Table 8 are to select and evaluate the correct weighting function. More simply applied. The resulting example candidate action weight is (congratul) 0.8 for ation, diff) and 0.5 for (congratulation, done) Attached to the sea urchin. Finally, one valid example selection rule from Table 9 applies. Select the final action (congratulation, diff) of. The preferred embodiments illustrated here do not include regular propagation. In other examples, our business As is clear to those who adopt more advanced artificial intelligence programming technology Can be done. For example, events using rule propagation and general production rule systems Can be converted into an action. Sneasel as another applicable technology Lunette, predicate logic, etc. can be included. 5.6.4 Agent behavior processing The agent action process converts the display action into a student output display. Suitable In the embodiment, the agent action processing is the input display action list. And a student data object file that describes its parameters and student preferences Possible emotional expressions based on the emotional expression aspects of the field and recent agents Select from the table of aspects. Further, in a preferred embodiment, the agent behavior processing , Embedded in a display script or applet sent to an I / O handler Issue one of the scripts with correlated data pieces of sound and animation Live. In other examples, no intermediate script is used and the action processing is real. Generate an I / O handler command at time. This section is for the agent line Describe the dynamic processing. First describe the table data structures used, then process Describe about Tep. In general, agent behavior processing involves two steps. First, here, " Displayed or spoken by an agent on the screen, called "utterance" The sage and its emotions are selected according to the input display action. Second, departure The story and emotions are sent to the object of the suitable person, where the animation, gra Integrated into one complete display, including fix and audio. This display is It should be displayed as a crypto and sent to the I / O handler. For behavior processing The selected emotion is an important parameter. This feeling further means utterance Characterize the figure. For example, a "congratulatory" type of utterance is a "congratulations" for advanced reactions. From "U" to "Encouragement", which has been improved but is below the average response. Correlates with extreme emotions. The modes of emotional expression of the agents on the screen are mutual It is desirable to express as one or more people and students who influence each other, but emotional para Reacts strongly to the meter. Known in the field of film animation By injecting emotions into the animation, it depicts the qualities of a human being. Can be given to the statue. These qualities are important and improve educational outcomes Because of the virtual tutor image of the ABI system attracts students. Also, Recent emotions selected in the student data object and the degree of emotions And to remember student preferences for parameters such as presentations The agent's behavior processing is learned over one lesson or several lessons. It is possible to display a real-life image that you can talk to clearly and that you like lively. To. Emotions correlate with and further characterize the intent of the utterance. Emotion is a virtual emotion expression generation process Selected as part of the utterance generation process for use in. Utterance generation processing is current Depends on event and student data object types, subtypes, and parameters And the agent student model, the student pedagogy model, and the recently triggered state Including. Therefore, the selected emotions and the visible emotional expressions generated are the student's teachings. Responding to the characteristics of the law or responding to the student's mode of intellectual and mental behavior Is desirable. Returning to the details of utterance occurrence, utterances and correlated emotions are optional from the table hierarchy. It is generated by selecting. This hierarchy generally has many selections for each level Have choices and give diversity to the aspects of the agent. At the top level of this hierarchy , Speaking template 908 table, indicated by action type and subtype Will be done. In general, many utterances for a given type and subtype of action There are templates and correlating emotions, and the instructions are the additions that occur in the action list By parameters and additional parameters of student characteristics from the student data object Ri Follow. For example, utterances and emotions are adopted teaching methods, student grades, and student preferences. Further selection is made according to the situation. At the next level of the utterance hierarchy is a table of named slots, which Are parameterized phrases, in other words using input parameters , A function for responding to phrases. Utterance template is named Includes slots and invariant words and sounds. When the utterance template is evaluated , The slot with the specified name is selected from the slot table. Generally, place There are many slots with a fixed name, and these slots are even more action squirrels. Further fingers according to user characteristics from parameters and student data objects Shown. When the slot to be used for the utterance template is selected, the slot para The meter is transferred from the utterance template. Another embodiment of the present invention is an utterance generation table. To a hierarchy with a table of additional types at a further level of or a given level of the hierarchy Applicable. Example Table 10 shows the action type of "congratulations" and the action subtype of "results". A small segment of the utterance template for, suitable for a test paradigm There is. Table 10 shows the student grades obtained from the student data object in these utterances. It is illustrated to be an additional indicator parameter for the plate. further, Each illustrated template is a parameter of grade, number of correctly answered questions, and total number of questions. Includes slots named "Performance Trend Slots" along with Ta. Table 10: Example utterance templates<img file="JP2000511304A_D0016.tif" /> The utterance template table has a large number of utterance templates suitable for many educational situations. It is desirable to have one. The number of desired type and partial type combinations is at least about 500 And it is desirable to have 10 to 100 response utterances for one combination The desired utterance template table has at least 25,000 entries .. Less suitable tables have at least 5,000 entries, just suitable tables Has at least 50,000 entries. In the examples of the present invention, the frequency of use is low. Utterances produce fewer candidate response utterances without compromising the naturalness of the system Have. Therefore, the present invention is applicable to a 1,000-entry utterance table. To. Example Table 11 shows the slots for the slots named "Performance Trends-Slots". It is part of the lot table and any of these can be used in previous templates To. The illustrated slots evaluate their input parameters and yield phrases. For example, if the last slot has a numright of 9 and a total of 10, then "90 par" Produces the phrase "cent". In addition, slots control their applicability. Including cases. In this example, it is the fifth component of each entry and the first Only lots have a condition that is not equal to zero. Table 11: Example slot entries<img file="JP2000511304A_D0017.tif" />Slots are used to make the final, generated utterances with considerable versatility Is done. Therefore, the slot table has at least as many ents as the utterance template table. Has Desirable slots have at least 5,000 entries and even more desired The table has at least 50,000 entries. Final display of suitable on-screen agent objects used for utterances It is generated from the display mode table 904 having a hierarchical table data structure similar to that of the above. The highest level is an on-screen agent action that includes casting one or more people Is. At the next level, a library of emotionally dictated modes of emotional expression Correlates to the type of each character. Illustrative emotional types include: sad, objective, Happy, happy, disappointed, announcing, reminding, encouraging, improving Let, model, quick answer, hint, joke, and train. In general, each emotion It has many possible aspects, and these also have parameters that appear in the action list. Directed by the data and student data objects to generate an utterance. Emotion table The current aspect can be a script containing a named emotional expression object. Made. These named display objects optionally sound Timed, including voice, audio, graphics, or video display Animated display or branched display can be specified as an option Included in the script. In this case the branching depends on the student's reaction to the display Exists. The lowest level in the preferred embodiment is individually named. There is a project. For slots, generally each named object There are some parameterized examples of g. These examples indicate the display mode Instructed according to the same parameters, then display using these parameters generate. Other embodiments of the present invention are further level tables for display generation tables. Or it can be adapted to hierarchies with additional types of tables at a given level of hierarchies. Exemplified Table 12 is a part with a character type suitable for primary education. Table 12: Example on-screen agent actions<img file="JP2000511304A_D0018.tif" />Agents on the screen should be diverse and engaging. I'm sorry. Character types are recognizable popular figures and specially made with a variety of It is desirable to include the figure that was made. Character type table has at least 100 choices It is desirable to have, and even less, of at least 50 characters It is desirable to have a mold. A library of emotional expressions has many for each emotion It is desirable to have an aspect. The desired number of emotions is at least 50, one It is desirable to have a response mode of 50 to 100 to emotions, so it is desirable. Like library has at least 2,500 entries and 5,0 for one character type It is more desirable to have 00 entries. Fully realized ASI system Can have a desired mode library with about 125,000 entries. This The number of more popular characters has a fully configured morphological library Less in the situation, the library is even more restricted for non-popular characters Is done. In addition, the number of character types should be the most popular or student type. Can be conveniently limited to only the most suitable ones. Therefore, this departure Ming is applicable to libraries with a response mode of about 1,000 entries. In the realization of this invention, in the actual utterance table, emotional expression table and library It is important that the content is original enough, fashionable and attractive to students. Is. Therefore, this content includes artists, animators, writers and others. It is desirable to be made by creative talent. Sound, voice, animation, Collect these elements, such as graphics and video, in a library of pieces of data And it is stored in the archive. In addition, these tables show the agents. Extensible and diverse content so that it is only repeated Is desirable. Returning to the process of generating the complete agent emotional expression mode, this process Tep is described with reference to FIG. The first step is the step of generating an utterance It is 906 and this step takes action list 901 as input. Departure The story generation step follows the action list parameters, especially the type of action. And subtypes, and according to the student's grades from the student data object, the utterance ten Direct the plate table and get a candidate utterance template that responds to the current situation. Candidate If not found, student preferences are relaxed in a given order until a candidate is found Is done. In general, one or more candidates are found and then still used previously in this lesson One template is randomly selected from the templates that are not .. The mode of emotional expression of the agent during class is described in the student data object. I remember. The named slot of the selected template is the name of the candidate Find the slots marked with and randomly select the ones you haven't used recently It is determined in the same way. Next, the utterance is a template, the specified slot And generated from input action list parameters. This utterance and The correlated emotions are sent to the visible display development step. The second step of the agent mode processing is the visible display generation step 907. To student data object 905, using input utterances and correlated emotions Displaying that emotion from a library that correlates with the student's current character preferences included Select candidates to respond to. If no candidate is found for the occurrence of the utterance , Student preferences are relaxed until candidates are found. Generally, one or more candidates are seen Randomly one while avoiding the most recently selected candidates in this class Select a candidate. Find display objects referenced in the selected display as well Be done. Finally, the spoken message is sent to the selected display and display object. Be done. These objects call to generate and output a display script Includes performance methods that are performed. In preferred embodiments, audio, sound, graphics The script for the data piece 909 of kusu, video and animation Built into the applet. An example of an applet is utterance and screen A fragment of a program that represents a character scratching his head while moving across. This Output applet is sent to the I / O handler in ES for student display 908 .. This ends the agent processing for this student or timer event. When finished, the system then waits for the next action at wait point 902. Display actions include audio, sound, graphics, animation and video Pre-former stored in the already integrated data fragment library 909 You can refer to the sequence of animations that have been added. In this case, departure Part of talk processing 906 and visible display processing 907 can be bypassed. In other embodiments, utterances or candidate character selection from available content It can be done by methods other than the random method. For example, on a student data object , Example of student action using agent mode data saved during class You can build performance that extends. Especially the utterance template And display objects are related to give continuity and reality to the agent's display Can be selected in the above manner. This invention is a conventionally known emotion and utterance. Can also be applied to other methods of generating parameterized performance by is there. These methods are advanced textbooks, 2D and 3D for speech technology. Original graphics generation, and VR effects can be included. Visualization of agent actions is one character or interacts Can include multiple characters. When using a large number of characters It is desirable to relate to each other. A common cast is a cat with a bird companion. Meeting Illustrative interactions of these correlated characters, including both talk and movement, are shown in Table 12. Shown in. Daily continuation From the ABI system every day in the same way as the continuous lines of comics A storyline script is available. These story lines Is applicable to student groups and, where appropriate, individuals. In some cases A student-selected character introduces the storyline and in other cases some appearances People are directly involved in the interaction. For example, the storyline, "We are on the beach I went to play volleyball and am absent. Please join us when you finish your homework, And help solve the mystery of the lost lake. Like It can be used as a basis for rewards. In summary, the use of student data objects in agent mode processing It is shown in Table 13. Table 13: Use of student data in agent aspects<img file="JP2000511304A_D0019.tif" /> The specific data in the student data object determines the agent's display and is suitable It plays an important role in ensuring sharpness, diversity, and individuality. 5.6.6 Agent adaptability Agent adaptability to students and representation of ABI systems as virtual teachers Appears from the agent update of the data in the student data object. Suitable fruit In the example, the agent's knowledge of the student is the student data object. Data, especially general teaching materials that describe how students are learning Student lesson model that stores relevant data, and specially assigned teaching materials A table based on the grades of students specializing in teaching materials that memorize grade data specialized for courses Will be done. Students interact with the system for lessons or homework, and agents Receive event messages describing student learning and grades. Agent Hako Update the student data object with the data from these messages. this When the data is updated, the agent adapts to the student, which causes the virtual teacher to do so. Personally adapt to students. This adaptation is maintained during this student's class. Updated with referenced data and agents in preferred embodiments The data are mean or weighted moving averages, even more than in past embodiments. Give weight to recent aspects. Therefore, the lesson model is, for example, a district of complexity with students. Another includes weighted moving average data for the learning rate. Teaching materials specializing in grades Weighted movement of data regarding student response times and response times, for example Including average. Other implementations can result in different agent adaptability to students. Wear. In one alternative embodiment, the student model data is averaged or weighted. Statistics of included parameters, such as standard deviation, as well as including moving averages It also includes data on the target distribution. Using this data, the agent tells this student On the other hand, the current situation is judged to be "normal" or "abnormal" and appropriate guidance is provided. To do. In addition, this statistical data is optional with different lesson parameters and different Includes correlations between agent data, such as correlations with teaching material parameters in Can be done. In this way, the educational situation is even more than "normal" or "abnormal" In detail, for example, "This fluency training in view of the normal progress of other exercises It can be categorized as "abnormally slow". In a further embodiment, this The classification of statistical data in is based on, for example, a statistical classification table or a neural network. This can then be done by a specially executable module of the agent. In yet other embodiments, agent action processing is even more sophisticated. It is feasible using technology. In a preferred embodiment, the agent action processing It is done by rules without rule propagation. In other examples, rule propagation and full rule Events can be transformed into actions using the based system. This departure Ming is from artificial intelligence that can do this transformation like a Bayesian network Applicable to other technologies. Moreover, in other embodiments, the student data object captures student interests and preferences. Has modeled data. Such a model, for example, is learned by an agent. Allows you to monitor school events and suggest appropriate instructions to users. This model Dell also provides agents with personalized rewards for individual students. Strengthen the function of the stem and personalize the characters of the agent who can be recognized by all five senses It makes it possible to add tees and personalization to virtual teachers. Suitable implementation In the example, this model of student interest is subdivided into several subdivisions of each school's subject area. As a group of about 200 categories that cover your interests, as well as during sports and leisure Easily feasible as a category related to other areas of student interest To. Interests in these categories can be entered in several ways. Students Encyclopedia tools can be used to determine your current area of interest To. Interests can be entered directly by students, parents or teachers. Or you can use the teaching materials At the end, you can inquire about the student's interest in the material. Research Division After the title, the student feeds the sign by choosing from a row of faces with different facial expressions You can also give a back. Or ask a student a question and share it It is also possible to ask students' interests in various ways. 6. Citation of specific examples, references The present invention is not limited to the particular examples described herein. In addition to the above examples The fact that various modifications are possible can be made to those skilled in the art from the above description and attached drawings. Is obvious. Such variants are included in the scope of this attached claim. .. Various publications are listed here. These disclosures can be found by reference. Everything is incorporated herein.
