Child proof screw-threaded closure
Abstract
A screw-threaded closure for a container having a neck formed with an external screw thread having a plurality of peripherally spaced recesses 6, comprises an outer member 1 including a continuous dependent skirt and an inner member having a cover plate 2, one of the inner and outer members being formed with an internal screw thread 20 rendered discontinuous by grooves 5 and the other member being integrally formed with a plurality of bars 3 provided with threads 3a which bars 3 are received in the grooves 5 in the said one member. The other member is axially displaceable relative to the one member between two latching positions. In a first latching position the threads 3a on the bars are in alignment with the threads 20 on the said one member and in the second latching position the threads 3a, 20 are out of register by approximately half a thread turn. Each of the latching positions is defined by a projection on a first of the members engaging a recess on the second of those members. When the closure is fully screwed home, a cam 8 on the container engages the other member to move it to the second latching position. Unscrewing is achieved by initially rotating the cap slightly so that the other member can be pressed axially downwards into the first latching position. <IMAGE>

SUMMARY
The child-resistant screw cap has the upper side of the closure capsule (1) equipped with a hollow cylindrical edge (la) facing upwards, in which a cover plate (2) engages, the internal wall of the hollow cylindrical edge (la) of the closing plate (l) being provided with protrusions and recesses (izl, 1S) arranged spaced apart from a half-thread, in which corresponding protrusions or recesses (14,18) engage on the edge of the cover plate (2) to obtain the stop positions.
DESCRIPTION
The invention relates to a child-safe screw-on type, for containers such as bottles, tablet containers or the like, consisting of a cap which can be screwed onto an external thread of the neck of the container and equipped with an internal thread which can be opened only by exerting pressure
<img file="IT1152425B_D0009.tif" />
axial, in addition to the movement of rotation, the closing capsule cradle, in which the internal wall of the closing intenna capsule is equipped with several strips distributed on its periphery, extending parallel to the axis of the cap and connected by a common cover plate , operable from the upper side of the closure capsule, which are slidably guided in existing grooves of the internal wall of the closure capsule and provided on their internal side with sections of thread which complete the internal thread of the closure capsule, wherein also the external thread on the neck of the container is equipped with continuity solutions parallel to the axis of the cap, the width of which is greater than that of the strips and whose arc segment corresponds to that of the strips, wherein furthermore, for the component part constituted by the strips and the cover plate, two stop positions are provided, before which the threads of the strips are aligned with the threads of the internal thread of the closure capsule, while they are moved, in the second stop position, of about half a thread with respect to these, and in which the first stop position can be obtained by means of stops acting on the strips and / or on the cover plate at the end of the closing movement of the closing capsule, according to the German patent application
P 3001512.4.
In the arrangement according to this application, the two stop positions are obtained by providing in the area of the strips 11 and slots in the outer wall of the closure capsule to form elastic slats which are provided with two protrusions or recesses, arranged, the one On the other side, about half a thread away from each other, facing the strips and engaging in counter-protrusions -------- protrusions or recesses of the strips to obtain the two stop positions.
It is therefore disadvantageous that in this way the closing capsule is affected and that the slots in the wall of the closing capsule. are visible from the outside, therefore an additional mantle is normally required around the closure capsule.
The task therefore proposed of the invention is to improve the arrangement according to the aforementioned application so that even with a simple conformation of the cap it is possible to have a closure capsule closed towards the outside.
This task is solved according to the present invention by the fact that the upper side of the closure capsule 6 provided with a hollow cylindrical edge facing upwards, in which the cover plate engages, the internal wall of the hollow cylindrical edge of the closure capsule being provided with protrusions or recesses disposed spaced by a half thread which engage in corresponding protrusions and / or recesses on the edge of the cover plate to define the two stopping positions. it can be relatively rigid depending on the size of the protrusions or recesses, but also depending on the material used, since the cover plate in this case can only be deformed on the type of a plate spring. However, there are simple component parts that can be easily manufactured.
Another solution consists in the fact that the upper closing disc of the closing capsule is provided with a central shaped cavity. cup in which stop slats engage on the cover plate, the internal wall of the cup-shaped cavity, being equipped with a protector u recesses arranged spaced apart by half a thread, which engage in corresponding protrusions or recesses existing on the external side of the roast splints to define the two stop positions. In this way the stops can be designed optimally in the wr nrvnn fuation of the rather long section of the stop splints.
In this case, it is advantageous if four stop ribs arranged in a circular pattern are provided since in this way there is a uniform support during the actuation of the cover plate.
ISIt is advantageous to provide two opposing strips on the cover plate. Furthermore, this arrangement provides the possibility of conforming the thread in the closing capsule and in the two-pronged strips so that a false assembly of the cover plate with the strips and of the closing capsule is no longer possible because it is therefore indifferent which strip in which the groove of the closing capsule goes to engage. With —'—- this facilitates considerably, in particular, the automated assembly.
It is advantageous if the parts of the cap a. sinus screw made of an injectable thermoplastic material and if the closing capsule on one side and the cover plate with the strips on the other are made of a single injected piece connecting the two parts with their upper sides to the injected state. In this way, the closure capsule according to the invention can be practically manufactured in two working cycles.
In order to ensure, despite the stop described above, the sealing of the cap, it is advantageous if the upper closing disc of the closing capsule has a hollow sealing cone turned towards the container, a cone which, when closed, engages held in the neck of the container.
The sealing cone can also form the end of a hollow cylinder which engages in the neck of the container, whereby the sealing surface, when closed, is suitably enlarged.
Another possibility or even a possibility of additional use consists in the fact that between the internal side of the upper closing disc of the closing capsule and the edge of the neck of the container disposed an elastic gasket.
The strips and grooves can have a dovetail section in which the wide pin side of the dovetail is on the outside. In this way, the strips are guided safely inside the internal wall of the capsule. therefore they cannot bend inward when the closure capsule is open. This allows slats with relatively low thicknesses to be made. In this case it is also possible that the dovetail-shaped section is made curved according to the diameter of the closure capsule.
<img file="IT1152425B_D0010.tif" />
In the arrangement according to the aforementioned application, the continuity solutions have approximately the double length of the strips so that the closing capsule can move in the zone of the strips. In this case the cams are arranged in the center of the continuity solutions for which the plate cover can be inserted on both sides of the cams in a position of the strips, however, in order to obtain additional security, it is advantageous for the cams to have their maximum lift in the area of the rear side in the sense of closing, providing continuity.
In this case, the cams also on their opposite side to the container can be equipped with a flattening on which the ends of the strips slide which remain on it in the closed position. In this way it is obtained that in the closed position the cover plate cannot be drive, but that for this purpose only a backward rotation in the opening direction of the closing capsule is necessary. In this way there is additional security.
The stops can also be formed by chamfers at the beginning of the respective first upper thread existing on the neck of the container on the rear side of the solutions. of continuity in the direction of closure to which a cam is combined on the strips, equipped with a suitable incised surface which embodies the width of the respective 1 ist <. 11 r>. dna such «lispo * ·. The advantage has the advantage of allowing to shorten the closure capsule and the neck of the container and thus to obtain savings in terms of time and quantities,
Both the super Pici i in the inn't and on the hinges arranged on the flange of the neck of the container and ο ·· ': · on the first fillets they can form an angle of 60 ° with the axis of the cap, so you can get a silent sliding of strips on inclined surfaces.
The invention is explained in more detail below, based on exemplary embodiments illustrated in the drawing.

According to Figure 1, a container 11 is provided, the neck of which 10 has an external thread 7.
On the neck 10 of the container a closure capsule 1 can be screwed, provided with internal thread co. The internal thread SO 0 interrupted by two grooves 5 made in the internal wall of the closing capsule, grooves which serve to receive the strips 3 which are arranged on a common cover plate which is turned towards the container 11. The strips are provided on their internal side of sections of thread 3a which complete the internal thread 20 of the closure capsule 1. The internal thread 7 on the neck 10 of the container is provided with continuity solutions. 6 parallel to the axis of the plug 21, whose width B is greater than the width of the strips 3, so that the closing capsule 1, with strips 3 inserted and staggered as regards the position of their thread sections, can be moved within the continuity solutions 6.
The upper side of the closing capsule 1 is provided with a hollow cylindrical edge la facing upwards, in which, in the inserted state, the covering plate 2, the internal wall of the hollow cylindrical edge 1a of the closing capsule engages 1 being provided with protrusions or recesses 14 and 15 arranged spaced by a half thread, which engage in corresponding protrusions or recesses existing on the ye Γ υ vhdt '' '' J ''
ÌKL U / VUHL ·>, 'Λ .....' · cover plate 2. The peripheral edge of the cover plate 2 can also form the protrusion which engages in the stop grooves.
In this way, two stop positions are created, in the first of which the threads 3a of the strips are aligned with the threads of the internal thread 20 of the closure capsule 1, while in the second stop position they are offset with respect to these by about half a thread The stop posinone prism is defined by axial pressure on the cover plate 2 in the direction directed towards the container 11. To define the second stop position, in the embodiment according to Figure 2, cams 8 are arranged on a peripheral flange 22 of the neck 10 of the container, which are found in the shade of continuity solutions 6. The cams 8 are provided with surfaces inclined 8a extending in the direction towards the closing capsule 1 and acting on the free ends of the strips 3.
Furthermore, the side of the cams 8 opposite the container 11 is equipped with a flattening 8b against which the free ends of the strips 3 can rest in the closed state.
Finally, inside the closure capsule according to Figure 1, a sealing cone 23 can still be seen which is arranged on the internal side of ur. upper closure disk 24 of the closure capsule 1 and which engages, in the closed state, in the neck 10 of the receptacle. The upper closure disk 24 is provided with openings 4 for the passage of the strips 3 during the insertion of the formed part from the strips 3 and from the cover plate 2.
mode of operation of the described arrangement is as follows.
After introducing the strips 3 into the grooves 5 and the cover plate 2 in the space inside the hollow cylindrical edge la and after having pressed the cover plate in the first stop position, the lower ones figure 1, the closure capsule can be screwed onto the internal thread 7 of the neck 10 of the container.
At the end of the closing operation, the free ends of the strips 3 rest on the inclined surfaces 8a of the cams 8 and then slide on the cams 8. With this the strips are moved by half a thread upwards in figure 1 to the second stop position. At the same time, the free ends of the strips 3 are above the flattening elements 8b. In this position the sections of the teeth of the fillets
3a of battens 3 are in front of the sections
<img file="IT1152425B_D0011.tif" />
of the thread teeth of the external thread 7 existing on the neck 10 of the container so that a backward rotation of the closing capsule 1 is possible only as long as the teeth of the threads 3a, of the strips 3 collide on the first side of the threads 7 which delimit the solutions 6, side which is in the closed position on the right in figure 1.
In this closed position, the sealing cone 23 engages in the neck of the pre-tensioned container so that a tight seal is guaranteed.
To open the cap, the closing capsule 1 must first be turned backwards until the free ends of the strips 3 are away from the flattening 8b of the cams 8. Subsequently, pressure is applied to the cover plate in the direction of the arrow 25 to whereby the cover plate and the strips move on the container 11 in the same direction and the first stop position is reached again. In this the threads 3a of the strips 3 are aligned with the threads of the internal thread 20 of the closure capsule 1, so that this can now be unscrewed.
Figures 2 to 5 show an embodiment in which the strips 3 are connected with the outer shell of the closure capsule 1r while the two

segments of the internal thread 20 are connected to the cover plate 2, the protrusions and recesses 15 arranged at a distance of half a thread are located in the second of the strips at their lower end while the conjugate stops are located on the pieces of wall 27 which are limited by the walls 28 forming the guide grooves 5 for When sliding on the cams 8 the strips 3 are pushed upwards with the outer shell of the closing capsule until a stop nose 26 on the pieces of wall 27 hits on a support in the area of the strips. To open this cap, you must then push on the cylindrical external hollow edge la of the cap.
In this embodiment, in which the cover plate 2 6 therefore faces directly 11 a free end of the neck 10 of the container, between these two parts being able to be placed the sealing elements in the form of a sealing cone or a sealing ring, an additional supplementary closing disk may be missing.
Figure 5 shows the parts of the cap according to figures 2 to 4 in the injected state. As shown, the closing capsule with the strips 3 and the cover plate 2 is joined with the parts of internal thread 20 in w. single piece injected, in the injected state the two parts joining together with their respective upper sides. the common injection channel which is separated during the demoulding can be in point 30.After the demoulding one of the parts is rotated and the 'two departures are pushed into each other.
The union in one piece injected according to Figure 5 also applies to all the remaining embodiments, a component part being formed here by the closure capsule 1 with internal thread and the other component part of the cover plate with the strips Even in this embodiment the two parts are joined in a certain way to the head in a piece injected with cornane and injected in a work cycle.
Figures 6 to 8 show an embodiment in which also the cover plate 2 with the strips 3 and the internal thread segments are connected with the outer shell of the closure capsule 1, the roast protrusions and the recesses 14 and 15 are located here, as in the embodiment of Figure 1, inside the hollow cylindrical edge
1a of the closure capsule 1, Tm this embodiment the sealing cone 23 which engages in the neck io / πλ! I .... l · rm,. ν ι1. J <\ \; 'ί ". vr ^ '·' · · 'r of the container is at the end of a hollow cylinder 31 which also engages in the neck 10 of the container, so that the sealing is produced in a sufficiently large time before the end of the closing movement.
Also the embodiment according to figures from 6 to 8 allows the union of the two parts of the cap in a single piece injected in the described way.
Figures 9 to 12 show a further varied embodiment. As shown in Figures 10 and 11, an upper closing disc 24 is provided which has a cup-shaped central recess 32 in which the stop slats 33 are engaged on the external covering plate 2, the internal wall of the cup-shaped recess 32 is provided with protrusions or recesses 14, respectively 15 spaced apart from a thread, which engage in corresponding protrusions or recesses existing on the external side of the stop slats 33. As can be seen from Figure 9, four stop slats 3 $ are arranged in a circular arrangement.
According to Figures 10 and 11 the cup-shaped recess 32 can be surrounded by the sealing cone 23 which engages in the neck 10 of the container and which is placed at the end of the cylinder 31.
As can also be seen from Figure 9, the strips 3 and the relative grooves 5 can have a dovetail-shaped section, the longer side of which is located on the outside. This dovetail-shaped section can be shaped with a cured shape corresponding to the closure capsule diameter 1.
Figure 12 is a partial section XII - XII of Figure 9, only the closing capsule 1 is sectioned here, as shown in Figure 12 the inclined surfaces on the cams 8 form an angle of approximately 60 ° with the axis of the cap 21 so that comfortable sliding on the canute is guaranteed 8.
In the embodiment according to figure 12, chamfers 34 are also provided at the beginning of the respective first upper thread 7a of the neck of the container, on the rear side, in the sense of closure, of ally continuity solutions 6 which is associated with a cam 36 on the battens 3 which is provided with a suitably inclined surface 35 and which protrudes beyond the width of the respective batten 3. These chamfers 34 can form with the axis of the trap a peg angle of about 60 *, which means that they can replace the cams 8 so as to be able to reduce the height of the cap.
