The invention relates to a humidifying device for offset printing machines with a tank for humidifier liquid and a respective sprayer roller whose skirt is formed by launching elements which, in correspondence with an edge covering the entire length of the roller, they spray the humidifier liquid which hits a humidifier roller.

A non-contact humidifier device of this type is the subject of German patent No.

121 625 "wherein the sprayer roller is made up of a roller equipped with brushes which partially draws in a tank of humidifier liquid.

By rotating the roller, the bristles get wet with a humidifier liquid which is then sprayed off the bristles at an edge. For this purpose the bristles come

folded and their spring effect is used for spraying the humidifier liquid. The water sprayed off then hits a roller of the humidifier.

A substantial drawback of the known version consists in the fact that the bristles are subjected to strong bending and thus to a great bending stress. By continually bending, the material becomes fatigued by fatigue so that it loses its elasticity. The bristles overturn intrican doses between them. Thus less humidifier liquid is withdrawn · The humidifier liquid and its additives accelerate this effect by their action on the most often organic material of the brushes, so that the brushes must be exchanged relatively frequently. Due to the effect of the added additives, they can also form on the bristles of the crystals which decrease the alasticity and withdrawal capacity. Not infrequently, singles if they slip off or break and enter the machine where they can cause serious damage. Due to the different wear of the bristles and the uneven elasticity of the same, with a brush roller there may be differences in the transmission of humidifier liquid on the

The invention aims to eliminate the drawbacks of the known versions and to create a humidifier device which allows a contact-free humidification with low nebulization and lasts for long periods of time without maintenance.

According to the invention, this can be accomplished by the fact that the sprayer roller consists of an axis with disks, arranged on the two sides and between which throwing elements are tensioned, forming the skirt of the sprayer roller and extending in parallel to the axis, and that fingers are arranged on a crosspiece at a small distance from the discs so that edges on the fingers penetrate the rotation path of the throwing elements. When the throwing elements put under tension between the discs, due to the rotation of the spray roller, are briefly held back or made to deviate by the fingers then, after the snap overcoming of the edges, in the throwing elements put under tension between the two discs produce a high frequency vibration. This vibration extends in a plane, so that humidifier liquid adhering to the launch elements is launched away in the direction

nor of vibration. The relatively wide jet of humidifier liquid is formed by single droplets which do not nebulize and thus prevent. corrosive action on the iron parts of the machine. The adjustment of the quantity of humidifier liquid to be transmitted is obtained in a known way by varying the rotation speed of the sprayer roller. This rotation speed can be dependent or independent of the machine.

In order to be able to tension all the throwing elements simultaneously and uniformly, a disc is spring-mounted and movable on the axis.

of the humidifier liquid, a roller with a water driver surface is rotatably mounted and this surface is in operative connection with the

throwing minds. Instead of the roller, absorbent bodies of fixed position can be arranged in the humidifier liquid tank, which transmit the humidifier liquid to the launch elements. With these advantageous executions, a different water level in the humidifier liquid tank cannot affect the quantity of humidifier liquid to be transmitted.

An elaboration of the invention consists in the fact that the sprayer roller is surrounded by a protection case which has a longitudinal slit and diaphragms to limit the jet of humidifier liquid.

In order to allow an arbitrary distribution of humidifier liquid over the printing width, diaphragms are applied to the protection case, which can be adjusted to adjust the quantity of humidifier liquid according to zones.

Likewise, in place of diaphragms, air nozzles can be associated with the launch elements to remove the humidifier liquid by insufflation.

To prevent wear of the ropes, these can be fitted with protective sheaths in correspondence. of the fingers. The ropes can also be fixed to the disks in supports with spring mounting in order to use their elasticity only partially which advantageously affects their durability.

By a corresponding arrangement of the fingers with respect to the sprayer roller, it is possible to choose the direction of the jet of humidifier liquid at will. The spray of the humidifier liquid comes approximately radially from the sprayer roller, substantially in a space extending in the form of a wedge. This further advantage of the humidifier device allows it to be mounted in any desired position within the offset printing machine.

An example of embodiment is schematically illustrated in the drawings, in which:

To a crosspiece 15 are fixed fingers 14 which on their end turned towards the throwing elements are provided with an edge 1&gt;. The fingers 14 are fixed to the cross member 15 on the two sides of the sprayer roller at a small distance from the discs 9 "and the fixings are adjustable or the fingers 14 can be mounted stowed by means of control means.

By the rotating movement of the sprayer roller 5 in the direction of the arrow, the launching elements 10 come one after the other in contact with the fingers 14 and move along the same towards the edge 15 • tension are made to deviate from their position and are further stretched. When the launching elements 10 have reached the edge 15, they start overcoming these edges and vibrate at high frequency in a plane passing through their fixing points. Thus they launch the humidifying liquid in the form of very small drops. The jet of humidifier liquid 16 strikes like a fan the entire length of the humidifier roller 4.

By means of the corresponding arrangement and adjustment of the fingers 14 it is possible to vary the direction of the jet of humidifier liquid 16 in any desired way in adaptation to what is required by the machine.

To prevent damage to the ropes 29, these can carry protective sheaths 52 in correspondence with the fingers 14. The ropes 29 can also be anchored to the disks 9 within supports with assembly.
