    CLAIMS:1. An apparatus for dosaging a particulate material, the apparatus comprising at least in operation: (i) a cavity having an inlet opening facing upwardly for receiving the material from an external source, an outlet opening facing downwardly, for disposing therethrough dosages of said material;(ii) a dosage feeder located inside said cavity and having at least one dosage recess, the dosage feeder being movable in a predetermined direction inside the cavity for exposing said recess to the inlet opening for forming therein a discrete dosage of said material and further moving said recess towards the outlet opening for disposing therethrough said dosage for its further use;and (iii) a position indicator for producing signals indicative of position of said at least one recess at least with respect to said outlet opening, the position indicator having a reference area configured and disposed so that its position is correlated with the position of said at least one recess during the movement of the dosage feeder;wherein the apparatus at least when in operation is in the form of an integral assembly of two units, one of which accommodates components of the apparatus comprising the cavity and the dosage feeder, whose operation is associated with their exposure to ambient conditions, and the other one comprises components of the apparatus, whose exposure to such conditions is at least not required for its operation.

    An apparatus for dosaging a particulate material, the apparatus comprising at least in operation:(i) a cavity having an inlet opening facing upwardly for receiving the material from an external source, an outlet opening facing downwardly, for disposing therethrough dosages of said material;(ii) a dosage feeder located inside said cavity and having at least one dosage recess, the dosage feeder being movable in a pre- 02393448\254-01 244872/5 -31 determined direction inside the cavity for exposing said recess to the inlet opening for forming therein a discrete dosage of said material and further moving said recess towards the outlet opening for disposing therethrough said dosage for its further use;and (iii) a position indicator for producing signals indicative of position of said at least one recess at least with respect to said outlet opening, and (iv) a controller to control the operation of the apparatus, the controller being configured for at least one of the following: - using said signals to determine a precise count of discrete dosages disposed through the outlet opening, - using said signals to make sure that, when the movement of the dosage feeder needs to be stopped, such stopping is performed when at least a majority of the dosage recess is using said signals to monitor a change in a rate of the movement of the dosage feeder;wherein the apparatus at least when in operation is in the form of an integral assembly of two units, one of which accommodates components of the apparatus comprising the cavity and the dosage feeder, whose operation is associated with their exposure to ambient conditions, and the other one comprises components of the apparatus, whose exposure to such conditions is at least not required for its operation.

    An apparatus according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein said cavity is formed in a housing having an exterior and an interior surface, the interior surface defining said cavity, and wherein the apparatus comprises at least one heating member mounted in said housing so as to be spaced from said cavity by a portion of a body of said housing.

    An apparatus according to any one of the preceding claims, further comprising at least one of the following features:02393448\254-01 244872/5 - the components whose exposure to said conditions is at least not required for the operation of the apparatus are at least one of the following: a driving mechanism, from which movement is at least indirectly transferred to the dosage feeder and the position indicator;- a compartment sealed from the ambient conditions, and wherein said components whose exposure to these conditions is at least not required for the operation of the apparatus are mounted in said compartment.

    An apparatus according to any one of the preceding claims, further comprising a driving member for moving said dosage feeder, and the position indicator comprises a position reference member movable by the driving member when it moves the dosage feeder.

    An apparatus according to any one of the preceding claims, comprising two nonrecessed zones on said dosage feeder disposed at two sides of the recess, at least one of which has a minimal dimension in the direction of movement of the dosage feeder, which is greater than at least a majority of a corresponding dimension of the outlet opening. 02393448\254-01 244872/5

    An apparatus for dosaging a particulate material, the apparatus comprising at least in operation:a. a cavity having an inlet opening facing upwardly for receiving the material from an external source, an outlet opening facing downwardly, for disposing therethrough dosages of said material;b. a dosage feeder located inside said cavity and having at least one dosage recess, the dosage feeder being movable in a pre-determined direction inside the cavity for exposing said recess to the inlet opening for forming therein a discrete dosage of said material and further moving said recess towards the outlet opening for disposing therethrough said dosage for its further use;and c. at least one cleaning member having a cleaning area and mounted so that at least during said movement the cleaning area is in contact with, and is moved relative to, at least one surface of at least one of the cavity and the dosage feeder, to at least reduce accumulation of the material on this surface;wherein said at least one recess is formed in an outer surface of the dosage feeder, and wherein the surface contacted by the cleaning area is at least a non-recessed area of the dosage feeder outer surface.

    An apparatus for dosaging a particulate material, which comprises at least when in operation:(a) a cavity having an inlet opening facing upwardly for receiving said material from an external source, an outlet opening facing downwardly, for disposing therethrough dosages of said material;(b) a dosage feeder located inside said cavity and having an outer surface with at least one dosage recess, the feeder being movable in a pre-determined direction inside the cavity for exposing said recess to the inlet opening for forming therein a discrete dosage of said material and further moving said recess towards the outlet for disposing therethrough said dosage for its further use;and 02393448\254-01 244872/5 (c) a reference area outside said cavity movable so that the position of the reference area during its movement is fully correlated with the position of said at least one recess during the movement of the dosage feeder;wherein the apparatus at least when in operation is in the form of an integral assembly of a first and a second unit, and wherein the first unit comprises components of the apparatus including the cavity and the dosage feeder, whose operation is associated with their exposure to ambient conditions, and the second unit accommodates components of the apparatus, whose exposure to such conditions is at least not required for its operation.

    An apparatus for dosaging a particulate material, which comprises at least when in operation:(a) an open unit comprising at least i) a cavity having an inlet opening facing upwardly for receiving said material from an external source, an outlet opening located in a lower portion of the cavity and facing downwardly for disposing therethrough dosages of said material, at least said outlet causing the interior of the cavity to be exposed to ambient conditions;ii) a dosage feeder located inside said cavity and having an outer surface with at least one dosage recess, the feeder being movable in a predetermined direction inside the cavity for exposing said recess to the 02393448\254-01 244872/5 -38inlet opening for forming therein a discrete dosage of said material and further moving said recess towards the outlet for disposing therethrough said dosage for its further use;and (b) a closed unit in fixed relationship with the open unit and comprising a compartment sealed for preventing its interior from being exposed to the ambient conditions, said compartment accommodating at least one of the following: i) a driving mechanism;and;ii) at least a part of a driving member, the driving member having one end connected with the driving mechanism within said compartment, and having another end connected at least indirectly with the dosage feeder;the driving member sealingly protruding with its second end from said compartment in the direction of the open unit in a manner allowing movement of the driving member to provide the movement of the dosage feeder.

    An apparatus for dosaging a particulate material, the apparatus comprising at least in operation:a. a cavity having an inlet opening facing upwardly for receiving the material from an external source, an outlet opening located facing downwardly, for disposing therethrough dosages of said material;b. a dosage feeder located inside said cavity and having at least one dosage recess, the feeder being movable in a pre-determined direction inside the cavity for exposing said recess to the inlet opening for forming therein a discrete dosage of said material and further moving said recess towards the outlet opening for disposing therethrough said dosage for its further use;and c. two non-recessed zones on said dosage feeder disposed at two sides of the recess, at least one of which has a minimal dimension in said direction, which is greater than at least a majority of a corresponding dimension of the outlet opening;said apparatus being controllable to operate so that when the movement of the dosage feeder is to be stopped at least at those time intervals when the apparatus is not to be in use and the at least one recess is free of the particulate material, this is done when at least a majority of the non-recessed area is exposed to the outlet opening.

    An apparatus according to any one of the preceding claims, further comprising at least one chamber formed in a housing body incorporating the cavity and configured for accommodating therein a heating element, the chamber having an interior accessible from an exterior of the housing body and being spaced from the cavity by a portion of the housing body.

    An apparatus according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the cavity and the outer surface of the dosage feeder are both cylindrical, the dosage feeder being coaxial with the cavity and rotatable about their common axis.

    An apparatus according to any one of the preceding claims, configured for use with a funnel-shaped container containing said material and configured for disposing said material via an open bottom thereof, said container comprising a holder;the apparatus further comprising a fixation member for releasable fixation thereof to said holder at least during the operation of the apparatus such that the inlet opening is exposed to the open bottom of the container.

    An apparatus according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the inlet opening has an inner inlet edge and an outer inlet edge spaced from each other along an 02393448\254-01 244872/5 -41 inlet axis, by an inlet surface having a funnel surface portion oriented so that the outer edge of this portion is spaced from the inner edge thereof along the direction of movement.

    A method of a dosaging particulate material using an apparatus comprising a cavity having an inlet opening facing upwardly for receiving the material from an external source, an outlet opening located facing downwardly for disposing therethrough dosages of said material and a dosage feeder movably mounted within the cavity and having an outer surface formed with at least one recess, said method comprising:(a) moving the dosage feeder inside the cavity in a pre-determined direction and at a predetermined rate for periodically exposing said at least one recess to the inlet opening for forming therein discrete dosages of said material and moving said at least one recess towards the outlet opening for disposing therethrough said dosages for their further use;and (b) monitoring a change in the movement rate as an indication of a movement obstruction condition in the apparatus.
