CLAIMS 1. A network system (85,140, 150) for monitoring and storing performance data of a plurality of transparencies (10-13, 20, 117) of a vehicle (15) to provide an estimated useable life of selected ones of the transparencies (10-13, 20,117) of the vehicle (15), wherein each of the plurality of transparencies (10-13, 20, 117) comprises a transparent sheet (22, 24, 60) having a sensor group (86, 92, 96, 100,116) secured on a surface of the transparent sheet (22, 24, 60) to measure predetermined characteristics and/or properties of the transparency (10-13, 20, 117), wherein the sensor group (86, 92, 96, 100, 116) comprises at least one sensor selected from the group consisting of an arc sensor(80) for measuring arcing of an electrically heatable member (32) mounted on a surface of the transparent sheet (22, 24, 60), hereinafter referred to as an “arc sensor” (80); a heat sensor (82) for measuring temperature of the heatable member (32), hereinafter referred to as a “heat sensor” (82); a moisture sensor (84) for measuring moisture content on a surface of the transparent sheet (22, 24, 60), hereinafter referred to as a “moisture sensor” (84); an impact sensor (76) for measuring force of impact of objects hitting a surface of the transparent sheet (22, 24, 60), hereinafter referred to as an “impact sensor” (76); and a sensor for identifying fractures in and/or on the transparent sheet (22, 24, 60), hereinafter referred to as a “crack sensor” (78), the network system comprising:a window sensing hub (88, 153) comprising a microprocessor (130) to receive output of the sensor group (86, 92, 96, 100, 116) of one or more of the plurality of transparencies (10-13, 20, 117), wherein the microprocessor (130) is programmed to receive data from the sensor group (86, 92, 96,100, 116) of one or more of the plurality of transparencies (1013, 20,117) providing information on the performance of the property and characteristic of the respective transparencies (10-13, 20, 117) associated 236701/2 with the sensor group (86, 92, 96,100,116), formatting the received data in accordance to a preset program, wherein the program includes at least providing data from the sensor group (86, 92, 96,100, 116) of the respective transparencies (10-13, 20, 117) that are active during the period in which the data taken is of interest, and storing the formatted data, and a central monitoring system (134, 142) connected to the window sensing hub (88, 153) to receive the formatted data from the window sensing hub (88, 153) for inclusion in a window history database for the plurality of transparencies (10-13, 20, 117) and present unformatted sensor output data from the sensor group (86, 92, 96,100, 116) of the selected ones of the transparencies (10-13, 20, 117), wherein the present unformatted sensor output datais acted on by the central monitoring system (134, 142) to provide an estimated useable life of the selected ones of the transparencies (10-13, 20, 117), wherein the estimated useable life is based on the present unformatted sensor output data for the selected ones of the transparencies (10-13, 20,117), data from the window history database, and the sensor output data from sensor groups (86, 92, 96,100,116) associated with different ones of the plurality of transparencies (10-13, 20, 117) measuring the same property and characteristic, and wherein repair or replacement of the selected ones of the transparencies (10-13, 20,117) is based on the present unformatted sensor output data and the estimated useable life of the selected ones of the transparencies (10-13, 20, 117).
