  1. 1
CLAIMS 1. A dose control mechanism 10 for a single-use syringe comprising, a plunger 14 having a coarse pitch screw 14B on its exterior surface, a housing 20 having a corresponding coarse pitch guide 20C along the interior surface of the housing 20, a screw 30 having a fine pitch screw 30B which interfaces with a fine pitch nut 18B of an adapter 18 disposed at a distal end of the housing 20, the adapter 18 being fixed with the housing 20 to prevent relative motion therebetween during movement of the plunger 14 in a proximal or distal direction relative to the housing 20, wherein the plunger 14 has an internal annular space 14C within which screw 30 at least partially resides, the plunger 14 having the coarse pitch 14B is rotatable along the corresponding coarse pitch guide 20C, and wherein at least a portion of the plunger 14 is rotationally keyed to interface with a corresponding rotationally keyed portion of screw 30 in a configuration which permits axial slip between the components plunger 14 and the screw 30, axial rotation of the plunger 14 in a first direction providing rotation and translation of the screw 30 in the distal direction, and axial rotation of the plunger 14 in a direction the reverse of the first direction providing rotation and translation of the screw 30 in the proximal direction, a ratio of the pitch of the course pitch screw 14B to the pitch of the fine pitch screw 30B dictating translation of the screw 30 in the distal direction.
  2. 4
The dose control mechanism 10 of any one of claims 1-3, wherein the screw 30 has a screw connection 30A aspect and, optionally, a ring 32.
  3. 5
The dose control mechanism 10 of any oneof claims 1-4, wherein the housing 20 has a housing cover 16 at its proximal end and a window 20A to permit the user to view the location of the plunger 14 within housing 20. 232733claimsversion3
  4. 6
The dose control mechanism 10 of any one of claims 1-5, wherein the plunger 14 has one or more dose markings 14A on the external surface of the plunger 14 and the housing 20 has one or more guide markings 20B with which to align plunger dose markings 14A to set a dose.
  5. 7
The dose control mechanism 10 of any one of claims 1-6, wherein, upon use by the user, plunger 14 axially translates a first distance DI causing screw 30 to axially translate a second distance D2, and wherein DI is greater than D2.
  6. 8
An accurate dose drug delivery single-use syringe 100 comprises a dose control mechanism 10, a barrel 140, a plunger seal 136, and a barrel adapter assembly 150 having a barrel tip 152 and a needle 154, wherein the dose control mechanism comprises a plunger 14 having a coarse pitch screw 14B on its exterior surface, a housing 20 having a corresponding coarse pitch guide 20C along the interior surface of the housing 20, a screw 30 having a fine pitch screw 30B which interfaces with a fine pitch nut 18B of an adapter 18, disposed at a distal end of the housing 20, the adapter 18 being fixed with the housing 20 to prevent relative motion therebetween during movement of the plunger 14 in a proximal or distal direction relative to the housing 20, wherein the plunger 14 has an internal annular space 14C within which screw 30 at least partially resides, the plunger 14 having the coarse pitch 14B is rotatable along the corresponding coarse pitch guide 20C, and wherein at least a portion of the plunger 14 is rotationally keyed to interface with a corresponding rotationally keyed portion of screw 30 in a configuration which permits axial slip between the plunger 14 and the screw 30, axial rotation of the plunger 14 in a first direction providing rotation and translation of the screw 30 in the distal direction, and axial rotation of the plunger 14 in a direction the reverse of the first direction providing rotation and translation of the screw 30 in the proximal direction, a ratio of the pitch of the course pitch screw 14B to the pitch of the fine pitch screw 30B dictating translation of the screw 30 in the distal direction, wherein translation of the screw 30 causes translation of the plunger seal 136 for drug delivery from the syringe 100 through the needle 154.
  7. 11
The syringe 100 of any one of claims 8-10, wherein the syringe is a fill-at-time-ofuse syringe 100, a pre-filled syringe 200, or a safety syringe 300, or a combination thereof.
  8. 12
The syringe 100 of any one of claims 8-11, wherein the housing 20 has a housing cover 16 at its proximal end and a window 20A to permit the user to view the location of the plunger 14 within housing 20, the plunger 14 has one or more dose markings 14A on the external surface of the plunger 14, and the housing 20 has one or more guide markings 20B at the window 20A with which to align plunger dose markings 14A.
  9. 13
The syringe 100 of any one of claims 8-12, wherein, upon use by the user, plunger 14 axially translates a first distance D3 causing screw 30 to axially translate a second distance D4.
  10. 18
The method of manufacturing the syringe 400 of any one of claims 14-17, wherein steps (i) and (ii), and the optional step of filling the barrel 440 at least partially with a fluid substance, may be performed in a sterile environment to maintain the container integrity and sterility of the syringe.
