  1. 1
224876/2 Claims 1. A system for forming a medical implant to limit movement of a bodily fluid, comprising:a first chamber containing a first composition, the first composition including a polyol comprising up to 50 weight percent polyethylene oxide, up to 10 pphp of an amine catalyst, and up to 20 pphp water;a second chamber containing a second composition, the second composition including a multifunctional isocyanate;a mechanism that places the first composition into contact with the second composition, thereby forming a polyurethane foam configured to control movement of bodily fluids when placed in contact with bodily tissue, the foam having a rise time of up to 150 seconds;and a nozzle insertable into a body of a patient, the nozzle being configured to permit the flow of a mixture of the first and second compositions into a body cavity of the patient.
  2. 2
A system for forming a medical implant to limit movement of a bodily fluid, comprising:a first chamber containing a first composition, the first composition including a polyol;a second chamber containing a second composition, the second composition including a multifunctional isocyanate;a mechanism that places the first composition into contact with the second composition, thereby forming a polyurethane foam having a rise time of up to 150 seconds;a nozzle insertable into a body of a patient, the nozzle being configured to permit the flow of a mixture of the first and second compositions into a body cavity of the patient;and instructions for controlling the movement of bodily fluids within the foam.
  3. 5
The system of any one of the preceding claims, wherein the polyol is selected from the group consisting of polypropylene glycol, polyethylene glycol, polycarbonate, polybutadiene, polyester, and copolymers and blends thereof.
  4. 6
The system of any one of the preceding claims, wherein the isocyanate is one of hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI), toluene diisocyanate (TDI), methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI), polymeric MDI, and a mixture of MDI isomers.
  5. 7
The system of any one of the preceding claims, wherein the first composition includes one of a surfactant, a chain extender, a pore opener, a filler, and a plasticizer.
  6. 8
The system of any one of the preceding claims, wherein the isocyanate is selected from the group consisting of a quasi pre-polymer and a true pre-polymer.
  7. 9
The system of any one of the preceding claims, wherein one of the first and second compositions includes a blowing agent.
  8. 10
The system of any one of the preceding claims, wherein the mechanism comprises one of a static mixing nozzle, a dynamic mixing nozzle, a syringe plunger and an impeller.
  9. 11
The system of any one of the preceding claims, wherein the first and second compositions have viscosities of between 1 and 3,000 centipoise.
  10. 12
The system of any one of the preceding claims, wherein the first composition comprises up to 25 weight percent polyethylene oxide.
  11. 13
The system of any one of the preceding claims, wherein said first composition comprises up to 20 pphp water. 45
