  1. 1
WO 2010/117636 PCT/US2010/028458 30 CLAIMS What is claimed is:1. A laminate web ^comprising a nonwoven web in facing relationship with a polymer film, said laminate web (^comprising a first side,^comprising said polymer film and a plurality of discrete tufts comprising fibers j^flntegral with and extending from said nonwoven web, wherein each of said tufts has a tuft basep-T} proximal to said nonwoven web and a distal portion opposing said tuft base, wherein at least part of said distal portion of each of said tufts is covered by a cap (Tif each said cap being an integral extension of said polymer film extending over said distal portion of a discrete said tuft, said cap comprising a first opening comprising a location of rupture ζδί) in said polymer film above which said tuft extends.
  2. 2
The laminate web according to Claim 1, wherein said cap comprises a second opening comprising a location of rupture in said polymer film above which said tuft extends and said cap integrally extends from said polymer film at at least two extension locations (£<f, each extension location adjacent a location of rupture.
  3. 3
The laminate web according to Claim 2, wherein said cap integrally extends from said polymer film at at least two opposing extension locations on opposing sides of said tuft.
  4. 4
The laminate web according to Claim 2 or 3, wherein said second opening opposes said first opening.
  5. 5
The laminate web according to Claim 4, wherein said cap has a length/6Ϊ) being the dimension between said first opening and said second opening and a width being the maximum dimension of said cap orthogonal to said length, wherein said cap has an aspect ratio defined by said length divided by said width, wherein said aspect ratio is greater than about 0.5.
  6. 6
The laminate web according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein said nonwoven web has a nonwoven web average fiber diameter and said tufts have a tuft fiber average diameter, wherein said tuft average fiber diameter is less than said nonwoven web average fiber diameter. WO 2010/117636 PCT/US2010/028458 31
  7. 7
The laminate web according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein said polymer film has a polymer film thickness (t) and said cap has a cap thickness (tc), wherein said cap thickness of a portion of said cap is less than said polymer film thickness.
  8. 8
The laminate web according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein said polymer film is a microtextured polymer film comprising microfeatures, wherein a plurality of said microfeatures are between said tufts, wherein said microfeatures are microapertures £Z25Tor microbubbles.
  9. 9
The laminate web according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein said laminate web comprises a lotion composition, wherein more than about seventy five percent of said lotion composition by mass per centimeter squared is applied to said polymer film.
  10. 10
The laminate web according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein said nonwoven web is relatively hydrophilic as compared to said polymer film.
  11. 11
The laminate web according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein said cap is tunnel shaped.
  12. 12
The laminate web according to any one of the preceding claims wherein said cap has a cap base proximal said first side of said laminate web and said cap base is narrower than a portion of said cap away from said cap base.
  13. 13
The laminate web according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein said polymer film comprises a whitener.
  14. 14
The laminate web according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein said polymer film has an opacity greater than about 50%.
  15. 15
The laminate web according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein said laminate web is a topsheet of an absorbent article, said topsheet in facing relationship with an absorbent core wherein said nonwoven web is between said polymer film and said absorbent core.
