    WHAT IS CLAIMED IS:1. Use of a compound having the structure (I) in the preparation of a composition for the modulation of a pathophysiological process in a subject in need thereof, wherein said pathophysiological process comprises glucose metabolism, cholesterol metabolism, lipid metabolism, triglyceride metabolism, adipogenesis, tumorigenesis, neurogenesis, or any bonerelated activity, wherein at least one of R 1 , R 2 3 , R 4 , R\ R 8 * * , R’ 1 , R u or R 13 is a hydrogen atom and wherein at least one of R 1 , R 3 , R * \ R 6 , R 8 , R n , R 12 orR 13 comprises an atom other than a hydrogen atom in an amount effective to modulate said pathophysiological process.

    The use of claim I, wherein R 1 , R 3 , R 4 , R e and R* 3 are H and wherein R n R f2 and R IJ are CHj groups.

    The use of claim I, wherein R 1 , R 3 ,R 4 , R 6 and R 13 areH, wherein R n and R 12 are CHj groups and wherein R 13 is an ethyl group.

    Use of a compound having the structure (I) in the preparation of a composition for the treatment of a bone fracture, bone disease, bone injury or bone abnormality in a subject in need thereof, wherein at least one of R l , R 3 , R 4 , R 6 , R\ R 11 , R 12 or R 13 is a hydrogen atom and wherein at least one of R 1 , R 3 , R 4 , R s , R®, R 11 , R 12 or R 13 comprises an atom other than a hydrogen atom in an amount effective to treat said bone fracture, bone disease, bone injury, or bone abnormality.

    Use of a compound having the structure (I) in the preparation of a composition for the treatment of diabetes, hyperglycemia or any metabolic disease in a subject in need thereof, wherein at least one of R 1 , R 3 , R 4 , R®, R 8 , R 11 , R 12 or R 13 is a hydrogen atom and wherein at least one of R', R 3 , R 4 , R®, R 8 , R 1 ', R 12 or R 13 comprises an atom other than a hydrogen atom in an amount effective to treat said diabetes, hyperglycemia or metabolic disease.

    The:use ofclaim22, wherein R'.R 3 , R 4 , R 6 ,R 8 ,R H , R 12 andR 13 independently comprise hydrogen, oxygen, hydroxy, a halogen, a linear or branched (Ci-Cie) alkyl group, a substituted linear or branched (Ci-Ci#) alkyl group, a cycloalkyl group, a substituted cycloalkyl group, a heterocyclic group, a substituted heterocyclic group, an arylalkyl group, a substituted arylalkyl group, a heteroarylalkyl group, a substituted heteroarylalkyl group, an alkoxy group, a substituted alkoxy group, an alkene group, a substituted alkene group, an acyl group, an amine group, an amide group, a nitrate, a nitrate ester, a carboxyl group, a carboxyl ester, a sulfide, a sulfoxide, a sulfonate, a sulfonate ester, a sulfone, a sulfonamide, a phosphate, a phosphate ester, a phosphonate, a phosponate ester, a phosphamide, a phosphoramide, a thiophosphate, a thiophosphate ester, a thiophosphonate, or a thiophosponate ester, wherein R 1 and R n , R u and R 12 , R 12 and R 3 , R 3 and R 4 , R 13 and R 6 may independently be fused together to form one or more rings, or any combination of the foregoing.

    Use of a compound having the structure (Π) in the preparation of a composition for the modulation of a pathophysiological process in a subject in need thereof, wherein said pathophysiological process comprises glucose metabolism, cholesterol metabolism, lipid metabolism, triglyceride metabolism, adipogenesis, tumorigenesis, neurogenesis, or any bone- wherein at least one of R l , R 3 , R 4 , R s , R 8 , R h , R 12 , R 13 or R 14 is a hydrogen atom and wherein at least one of R 1 , R 3 , R 4 , R 6 , R 8 , R 11 , R 12 , R 13 orR 14 comprises an atom other than a hydrogen atom in an amount effective to modulate said pathophysiological process.
