13 1. A method for the detection of moving objects (3) by SAR images, comprising the steps of:- generating a pulse-repetition frequency signal (PRF) starting from a radar signal (RP);and - generating a sequence of SAR images (IA, ISA) starting from the pulse-repetition frequency signal (PRF);characterized in that the step of generating a sequence of SAR images (IA, ISA) comprises generating low azimuth resolution SAR images (Isa) by means of coherent integration of the pulse-repetition frequency signal (PRF) for a sub-aperture time (TSA) shorter than an aperture time (TA) ;and in that it comprises the steps of: - generating difference images (ID) through point-to-point difference between subsequent low .azimuth resolution SAR images (ISA) ;and - recognizing patterns (D;RP, RN) associated to moving objects (3) in the difference images (ID) .
  2. 5
The method according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the step of recognizing patterns (RP;RN) comprises identifying dual positive regions (RP) and negative regions (RN) in the difference image (ID) .
  3. 8
The method according to any one of Claims 5-7, comprising the step of comparing positive regions (RP) with negative regions (RN).
  4. 9
The method according to any one of the preceding claims, comprising the step of carrying out a validation procedure of the patterns (D;RP, RN) recognized in each difference image (Id) · 15
  5. 12
The method according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the sub-aperture time (TSA) is approximately 0.25 s.
  6. 13
The method according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the step of generating difference images (ID) comprises carrying out a point-to-point difference between two consecutive low azimuth resolution SAR images (Isa) ·
  7. 14
The method according to any one of the preceding claims, comprising the step of irradiating and receiving the radar signal (RP) by a single-channel radar transceiver device (2a).
  8. 15
An apparatus for detection of moving objects (3) by SAR images comprising:- a radar transceiver device (2a);and - a pre-processing line (5a), for generating a pulse-repetition frequency signal (PRF) starting from the radar signal (RP) ;characterized in that it comprises: - a sub-aperture generator (12), configured for generating a sequence of low azimuth resolution SAR images (ISA) by coherent integration of the pulse-repetition frequency signal (PRF) for a sub-aperture time (TSA) shorter than an aperture time (TA) ;16 - an image-difference module (13), for generating difference images (ID) through point-to-point difference between consecutive low azimuth resolution SAR images (Isa);and - a pattern-recognition module (14) for recognizing patterns (D;RP, RN) associated to moving objects (3) in the difference images (ID) .
  9. 18
The apparatus according to any one of Claims 15-17, comprising a validation module (15), configured for carrying out a validation procedure of the patterns (D;RP, RN) recognized in each difference image (ID) .

The apparatus according to any one of Claims wherein the radar transceiver device (2a) is of the channel type . 15-20 single iR-AGMON " PATENT ATTORNEYS Nolton House 14 Shefaar St. Ρ.Ο,Βοχ 12425 Herzlliya Pituach 46733 Israel 18 ABSTRACT A method for the detection of moving objects (3) by SAR images envisages the steps of:generating a pulse-repetition 5 frequency signal (PRF) starting from a radar signal (RP) ;and generating a sequence of SAR images (IA, ISA) starting from the pulse-repetition frequency signal (PRF). In particular, SAR images with low azimuth resolution (Isa) are generated by of coherent integration of the pulse-repetition frequency signal 10 (PRF) for a sub-aperture time (TSA) shorter than an aperture time (TA) . In addition, the method envisages generating difference images (ID) through point-to-point difference between subsequent low azimuth resolution SAR images (Isa), and recognizing patterns (D) associated to moving objects (3) in 15 the difference images (ID) .
