  1. 1
What is claimed is; 1. A method of chronologically synchronizing a unique positioning signal generated by a positioningunit device at a known location with at least one reference positioning signal generated by at least one reference transmitter at a known location, said method comprising the steps of said positioning-unit device:a) receiving and interpreting said at least one reference positioning signal;b) determining a reference positioning signal propagation delay between said at least one reference transmitter and said positioning-unit device;c) generating and transmitting a unique positioning signal;d) receiving and interpreting said unique positioning signal;e) comparing said received and interpreted at least one reference positioning signal and said received and interpreted unique positioning signal to deduce a transmission difference;and f) continuously adjusting said generation and transmission of said unique positioning signal according to: i) said deduced transmission difference;and ii) said reference positioning signal propagation delay, such that said unique positioning signal is chronologically synchronized to said reference positioning signal.
  2. 10
A positioning-unit device for chronologically synchronizing a unique positioning signal generated by said positioning-unit device at a known location with at least one reference positioning signal generated by at least one reference transmitter at a known location, said positioning-unit device comprising:a) means for receiving and interpreting said at least one reference positioning signal;b) means for determining a reference positioning signal propagation delay between said at least one reference transmitter and said positioning-unit device;c) means for generating and transmitting a unique positioning signal;d) means for receiving and interpreting said unique positioning signal;e) means for comparing said received and interpreted at least one reference positioning signal and said received and interpreted unique positioning signal to deduce a transmission difference;and P/15436/106577/536755/l f) means for continuously adjusting said generation and transmission of said unique positioning signal according to: i) said deduced transmission difference;and ii) said reference positioning signal propagation delay, such that said unique positioning signal is chronologically synchronized to said reference positioning signal.
  3. 19
A method of chronologically synchronizing a unique positioning signal generated by a positioningunit device at a known location with at least one reference positioning signal generated by at least one reference transmitter located at a known geometric distance from said positioning-unit device, said method comprising the steps of said positioning-unit device:a) receiving and interpreting said at least one reference positioning signal;b) generating and transmitting said unique positioning signal, wherein said unique positioning signal is aligned with a frequency steerable clock;c) receiving and interpreting said unique positioning signal;d) measuring a frequency difference between said received at least one reference positioning signal (a) and said received unique positioning signal (c);e) adjusting the frequency of said frequency steerable clock by an amount derived from said measured frequency difference (d) and consequently adjusting said unique positioning signal;f) determining a reference positioning signal propagation delay between said at least one reference transmitter and said positioning-unit device;g) measuring a time difference between said received reference positioning signal (a) and said received unique positioning signal (c);h) offsetting the frequency of said frequency steerable clock for a period of time derived from said time difference measured in step (g) and said propagation delay determined in step (f) and consequently adjusting said unique positioning signal;such that said unique positioning signal is frequency coherent with the frequency of said reference positioning signal and chronologically coherent with the timebase of said at least one reference transmitter.
