Camera system method and apparatus for printing processed image data on photographs

Abstract

A data structure is printed on a photograph using infra-red ink. The data structure includes a two dimensional array of data blocks. Each adjacent pair of data blocks is separated by a gap and each of the data blocks has a data region holding encoded data. Each data region is confined by clock-marks and borders to facilitate location of the data region and recovery of data from within the data region.

  1. 1
A method of printing digital data and an image on a photograph, the method including the steps of:receiving digital data representing the image and characteristics thereof;encoding said digital data with redundancy data to obtain fault tolerant digital data;and printing said fault tolerant digital data on the same surface of a print media as the image, wherein the step of printing said fault tolerant digital data prints said fault tolerant digital data on the surface of the print media as a plurality of discrete blocks, and further includes a step of printing clock marks on an edge of each discrete block and printing a series of targets on first and second sides of each block, and the targets each comprises a centre structure and a target number, and the series of targets printed on a first side of each block is an inverse of the series of targets printed on the second side of each block.
  2. 7
An apparatus for printing digital data and an image on a photograph, said apparatus including:a camera system for imaging an image, the camera system including means for outputting said image in a digital format;means for encoding said digital format of said image with redundancy data to obtain fault tolerant encoded digital data;and an inkjet printer for printing said fault tolerant encoded digital data on a print media using an invisible ink, wherein said inkjet printer: prints said fault tolerant encoded digital data and said image on the same surface of the print media, prints said fault tolerant encoded digital data on the surface of the print media as a plurality of discrete blocks, prints clock marks on an edge of each discrete block, and prints a series of targets on first and second sides of each block, the targets each comprising a centre structure and a target number, and the series of targets printed on a first die of each block is an inverse of the series of targets printed on the second side of each block.
