25 MAUSER-WERKE GmbH 115274/3 Claims 1. Cylindrical blow-molded lidded barrel (10) with barrel lid (12) and tension-ring closure (14), in which in the closed position;tension ring (14), which is u-shaped in cross section, engages with i(t?s upper leg over outside lid edge (16) and engages with its lower leg under an outside barrel edge (18) that runs basically horizontally or slightly obliquely in the mouth area of barrel body (20), characterized in that — directly behind outer lid edge (16), which is overlapped by the upper leg of tension-ring closure (14) and which is shaped in cross section like a downward-facing U, in which lid seal (30) is arranged, barrel lid (12) has an essentially V-shaped engaging groove (32), which has a flat groove floor (48) and which is drawn in peripherally downward into barrel body (20), between a reduced-diameter central lid disk and lid edge (16), — the inside boundary of engaging groove (32) is formed by a ring part (B2) which slopes obliquely upward and to which is connected flat lid disk — the lower leg of tension- ring closure (14) engages tightly in an indentation (22) in the upper barrel wall below upper barrel edge (28), whose upper boundary represents essentially horizontal barrel edge (18) or a slightly oblique 26 115274/2 attachment surface for tension ring (14) and whose outline, as it moves downward toward transition (24) to the fully cylindrical part of the barrel wall, is essentially designed to be increasingly flat-conical, and — transition (24) from the conical area to the fully cylindrical part of barrel body (20) is arranged at a distance of bo mm to 140 mm, preferably about 120 mm, from the upper front edge of barre^*mouth edge (28), and — upper barrel edge (28) of the barrel mouth is designed solidly as an outer Support or sealing surface for lid seal (30) and has a width (thickness) of approximately double the wall thickness of barrel body (20).
  2. 3
Lidded barrel according, to claim lor 2f wherein the conical outline of the barrel wall inside indentation (22) below horizontal attachment surface (18) for the lower leg of tension-ring closure (14) is made at an acute angle of between 15° and 30°, preferably about 18° to 20°, at transition (24) to fully cylindrical part (26) of barrel body (20).
  3. 6
Lidded barrel according to any one, of-the preceding claims, wherein the area of solid barrel mouth edge (28) that points upward or vertical arm 90 has a smooth, partially circular cross Bection as a sealing surface for lid seal (30).
  4. 7
Lidded barrel according to any one of the.preceding.claims, wherein solid barrel mouth edge (28) is produced during the blow-molding process by squeezing the thermoplastically deformable plastic of the barrel wall by means of a mold slide, and a peripheral flange edge (40) with a radial extension of about 3 to 5 mm is formed outside on the barrel edge, thus increasing the width of the horizontal support surface for the lower leg of tension ring (14).
  5. 8
Lidded barrel according , to any one .of .the preceding claims, wherein below in the transition area from the cylindrical barrel wall to barrel bottom (34), barrel body (20) has a peripheral solid bottom roller cage (36) with a trapezoidal cross section at the bottom and thinner arm connecting to barrel body (20), and bottom I 28 115274/2 roller cage (36) has almost exactly the same outside diameter as tension ring (14) when in the closed state.
  6. 9
Lidded barrel according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein with barrel lid (12) put on and tension ring closure (14) in place, it has a height/diameter ratio of about 1.57 for a capacity,of about 30 US gallons.
  7. 10
Lidded barrel according to one of the preceding claims l to 8, wherein with barrel lid (12) put on and tension ring closure (14) in place it has a height/diameter ratio of about 1.82 for a capacity of about 35 US gallons.
  8. 11
Lidded barrel according to one of the preceding claims l to 1-0/ wherein all diameter dimensions for a 30 US gallon barrel are the same as for a 35 US gallon barrel, and the maximum barrel diameter in the area of two barrel body toller cages (38), which are arranged in fully cylindrical part (26) of the barrel wall, is about 474 mm.
  9. 12
Lidded barrel according, to any one of the -preceding ria-inig, wherein with barrel lid (12, put on and tension ring closure (14) in place, it has a height/diameter ratio of about 1.06 for a capacity of about 36 US gallons.
  10. 13
Lidded barrel according to any one of .the:preceding, claims, wherein 29 115274/2 with·barrel lid (12) that on and tension ring closure (14) in place, it has a height/diameter ratio of about 1.49 for a capacity of about 52.5 US gallons.
  11. 14
