TITLE! DISPOSABLE DISPOSABLE OBJECT WITH IMPROVED CONSTRUCTION FOR LIQUID RETAINMENT !.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION * The present invention generally relates to absorbent articles of one use and more particularly relates to disposable diapers and the like. Even more particularly, the present invention relates to use diapers which have a member leaking in place of leakage;
Disposable Absorbent Objects are well known in the art and have many uses. Bandages are intended for new Absorbent and contain blood and other secretions of the body * while menstrual tubes are intended for new Absorb and retain new

In each case, the Disposable Absorbent Object absorbs and retains a liquid by blocking that liquid;
Instead of polluting, it soaks or otherwise contaminates the general dampness that surrounds the point of secretion of the liquid.
Disposable Absorbent Objects should be operated without dripping and several ideas have been proposed to improve the retention characteristics of such Absorbent articles. or perimeter of the Object Impermeable liquid. Thus, as a recommendation to USP 5,520,503 entitled DISPOSABLE TARGET, granted to DEENDRES on 14 July 1970, one may be provided. The member is placed in such a way that when the diaper is worn, it should be pulled comfortably around the wearer's thigh. The elastic part therefore forces the diaper to be sealed around the wearer the diaper thus preventing the leakage of liquid, From the diaper.
The prior art absorbent articles of the prior art do not have the aspects of the present invention while providing a reduction in liquid leakage by providing a Leak Resistant member with the compressed portion exposed to the surface exposed below.
Accordingly, it is an object of the present invention or to provide an absorbent article with improved fluid retention characteristics.
A further object of the present invention is to provide an Absorbent Object with a leak reduction member. An object of the present invention is to

in which compressed portions of the baking sheet are exposed below the contact surface of the diaper with the wearer;
These and other objects of the invention will become more readily apparent when considered with reference to the following description, and when obtained in conjunction with the accompanying figures.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
According to the present invention, an Absorbent article is to be used as a diaper. so that an absorbent core is inserted into an outer covering layer with a permeable liquid portion of the topsheet and an impermeable portion of the liquid backing portion.
The Disposable Absorbent Object is provided with at least one member Resistant to leakage so that when the diaper is used the liquid adheres to the Resistant member during leakage before leakage occurs. * However, a number of leak-reducing members can be adapted to different parts of the leak. The foil has flattened portions which are fitted to the backsheet and which are exposed below the contact surface of the diaper with the carrier. The leakage reducing member may be elasticized to provide a resilient member. /

DESCRIPTION_One5__PREFERENTED__ INTEGRATION.
Referring now to the figures, a preferred embodiment of the present invention is shown as it would be useful to use a disposable absorbent article and, As it is currently used, the term absorbent disposable article refers to objects which absorb and contain liquid and more specifically refer to objects which absorb or absorb the body and do not contain the various fluids secreted by it (eg blood, menstrual period, urine, etc.) and further intended for Rejected after single use. (ie they are not intended to be washed or otherwise to be leafed and reused). "A sparrow is an underwear generally used by children and incompetent persons, the body of which is dragged between the thighs and tied around the wearer's stream. It should be understood, however, that the present invention is also applicable for use in other absorbent articles of particular use such as bandages, monthly sanitary napkins, and the like.
Figure I is a partial cross-sectional view of the diaper use 10 of the present invention before being folded and placed on the wearer. As shown in Figure I, a preferred disposable diaper 10 basically comprises an outer cover layer II and an Absorbent Tare to /// d

* Inner or outer cover layer II and d Absorbent core 14 may generally be fused to a plurality of known formulations as described in USP 3,860,003 under the heading SIDE ESTABLISHMENTS FOR SPARGING. BUELLL on January 14, 1975, and USP RE 26,151 under the title DISPOSABLE TARGET awarded to RG DUNCAN and associates on January 31, 1977;
As can be seen From Figures I and 2 a preferred molding outer layer II is inserted and contains the Absorbent core 14 and preferably has a top sheet portion 12 and a rear panel portion 16 which are joined together in any suitable manner.
As it is used herein, it includes formations where the top sheet portion. 12 is directly attached to the backsheet portion 16 for adjusting the backsheet portion 12 in the form of an intermediate member which fits snugly into the backsheet portion I6. larger Of those of the Absorbent core 14. Obviously, there are a number of construction techniques that can be used to construct a preferred Top Sheet portion 12. A preferred top sheet 12 is carded, saturated with binder, dried and processed by means well known to those skilled in the art. A leak-resistant member shall be adjusted to any part of which fluid leakage is to be reduced or reduced. permeable to liquid materials may also be used. In general, materials which are suitable for use as a backsheet portion 16 are also suitable for use as a backsheet 23.
As currently used, the actuator adapted means that the leak-resistant member 22 is connected to the diaper 10 in or near a portion 10 from which leakage can occur to prevent leakage. leaking member 22 before leakage occurs (ie before the liquid comes into contact with the wearer's underwear, etc.) in those parts. Referring to Figures 2 and 3, it can be seen that the baking sheet 21 is oriented so that the diaper and a solid portion 34 are placed against the wearer's skin, which changes the flow trace of the liquid. . Solid portion 54 can be achieved in many ways as it is by filling or partially filling the gaps between the baking sheet 21 in the compact portion 54 with an adhesive or saline non-liquid permeable material. In this way the solid part 54 is not compacted or compressed but is made to act; as a non-fracturing barrier to its movement. ύγροΰ.
In a particularly preferred embodiment, however, the solid portion 54 'is compressed or compacted relative to the other portions of the sheet 21, the other portions being defined as non-compact portions 55. fiber and d intermediate vacuum decreases to
The compact portion 54 to a large extent causes the compact portion 54 to exhibit greater capillary traction for the liquid than a non-compact portion 55. Thus, the liquid tangent to the compact portion 54 will form fuses within and through the compact portion 54. Once in the solid portion 54, the fluid will tend to be retained in the solid portion because the solid portion 54 has a higher capillary traction for the liquid than the adjacent non-solid portion 55.
The compact portion 55, therefore, alters the fluid flow trace and by forming the compact portion 54 as described
<img file="GR74716B_D0011.tif" />
The fluid is then redirected from those parts. asparagus From which leakage is likely to occur.
* The Ratio of. The diameter of the non-solid part 55 of the baking sheet 21 to the diameter of the compressed part 54 is at least 1, 5 and preferably at least about 2, the: Mostly preferred, or section 54 is at least about 4 l. It should be understood that the caliper of compact and non-compact parts 54 and 55.
Many methods are suitable for determining the Ratio. caliber of the non-compact section 55 to the caliber of the compact section54. For example, a simple cutting method may be used in which a blade of the topsheet is cut perpendicular to the solid portion 54. By observing the rim of the strip through a microscope with a calibrated eyepiece, the diameters of the non-compact portion 55 and the compact portion 54 can be determined.
The solid portion 54 of the baking sheet 21 is fitted to the planer sheet 23 using any suitable means which will provide a bond retarding the liquid between the baking sheet 21 and the backing sheet 23. Thus, the leakage of liquid along the joint of the joints between the cover sheet 21 and the back plate 23 is delayed and prevented by p.t.t. length of the compact section 54 as is well

In addition, the solid portion 54 may comprise a plurality of strips which may be straight, curvilinear, straight or curved and which have parallel sides forming a strip 56 of uniform width or may have non-parallel sides forming a strip. As previously stated, a solid section 54 corresponds to each Resistant to the leaking liquid member 22. The diaper 22 may therefore have a plurality of solid sections 54 each of which comprises a plurality of strips 56,
In a preferred embodiment shown in Figure 3, the non-compact portions 55 have a surface tangential to the wearer 58 or which is placed close to the wearer when the wearer is worn. Figures 4 and 5 illustrate a particularly preferred embodiment of the present invention. Basically, the diaper 10 shown in Figures 4,5 and 6 is constructed as described previously with Similar Numbers to Refer to Similar Parts. For the preferred embodiment Illustrated in Figures 4,5 and 6, however the diaper 10 is provided with a resilient member 59 located on the Leak Resistant members 22 which are fitted to the first and second longitudinal sides 57 and.

Leaking members 22 on the first and second elongate sides 37 and 58 the diaper 10 is provided with elasticized sections which when the diaper is worn by a child, form elasticized foot cuffs. A resilient member 59 to provide adequate resilience to the Resistant Leakage member 22 must have a tensile strength within the extended state of the wave. It is from IO to 315 gr. of range.
The rubber member 59 is preferably made of thermoplastic elastomers such as styrolibutadine block copolymers or ethylene-propylene elastomers tv and many other materials such as natural gums, thermosetting or synthetic elastomers (e.g. to be used. The resilient member 59 is preferably a plain material material thickness from 0.001 inches to approximately 0.010 inches (approximately 0.025 mm to 0.25 mm). The resilient member 59 as shown in the figures
4,5 and 6 are operatively connected to the Leak Resistant member 22 Adjusting the rubber member 59 between the topsheet 21 and the back sheet 23 and to securing the rubber member 59 to the topsheet 21 and preferably to the side 23 Any suitable means may be used to pre-fit the rubber member 59 to the Leak Resistor 22. For example, the resilient member 59 may be adapted to the Leak Resistant member 22 using ultrasonic coupling techniques as are well known in the art. Preferably, the resilient member 59 fits into the solid portion 54 of the sheet. δψεως 21 μόνον. Therefore, the non-solid part 55 of the baking sheet 21 does not adhere to the rubber member 59.
<img file="GR74716B_D0013.tif" />
As previously stated, it is advantageous to have the compact portion 54. exposed below the contact surface of the wearer 58. When the resilient member 59 is nevertheless provided, the compact portion 54 may be fastened and protruding toward the wearer. to the extent that the solid part 54 really touches the skin of the wearer. Thus, a preferred trace for the compact portion 54 will maintain the compact portion 54 below the contact surface of the carrier 58 and will promote the elevation differences between the compact portion 54 and the contact surface of the carrier 58 by causing a large mass 60 When the rubber member 55 is attached. φοροϋντα φοροϋντα τδ σπάργανο. When placed in front of the wearer, the wearer's skin will adhere to the upper portions of the cushions 60. These portions therefore form the contact surface. φοροϋντος 58.
Figure 6 is a plan view of a portion of the Resistant member leaking 22 into an uncollected formation. Figure 6 shows a preferred solid portion 54 comprising a plurality of continuous strips 56 identifying reservoirs therein 57. As previously described, the compact section 54 is attached to a rubber member 59 (not shown in Figure 6) and preferably also fits into the flip sheet 23 (not shown in Figure 6) while the non-compact portion does not fit As the slat member 59 is retracted, the slat 21 is retracted. As the slat 21 is retracted, it will bend. you will bend freely to form cushions 60 as At ---- V can be observed in Figure 7. Figure 7 is a perspective view of the leak-resistant pier 22 shown on the rickshaw as a collected formation (i.e. only 59 has been left for relaxation.
As can be seen in Figure 7, the solid portion 54 is exposed below the contact surface of the wearer 58 and is therefore protected from contact with the wearer's diaper. As currently used, the effect shown below means that the solid portion 54 is farther from the wearer's skin than the contact surface 58 or which adheres to the wearer's skin when the diaper 10 is worn. in the preferred collection of the baking sheet 21 while the solid part 54 is retained below the contact surface of the wearer 58.First if the solid part 54 fits the backing sheet 23 to bend along the solid portion 54 and the resilient member 59 and the backing sheet 23 must also be bent. any other component of the leak-resistant member 22. * Therefore, the solid section 54 will be easily bent off its plane. the non-solid part 55 while the non-solid part 55 will bend easily away from the rubber member 59. The non-solid part 55 will bend at a low frequency but high amplitude forming cushions 60 while, comparatively, the solid part * 54 will tend to a low frequency but low range, Td range is mentioned --- 26 flows to the Distance away from the elastic member 59.
The second coefficient of cooperation in the preferred embodiment of the face sheet 21 is the combined Result of the relative stiffness and compressive load distributors of the compact section 54 and the non-compact section 55. More conveniently, since the compact portion 54 has been modified to change the fluid flow pattern, the compact portion 54 will generally differ in bending stiffness from the non compact portion 55. The compact section 54 also adapts to the tire member 59 and therefore sums up the larger distribution of compressive strengths caused by the contraction of the tire member 59. and the non-compact section 55, the compact section. 54 will tend to bend with higher frequency
But Yamlyli range From a non-compact section 55. * i bend one - · w is a well-known way of falling for columns and other members subject to compressive strength and is described in K. BC or Figure 8 is a plan view of the Resistor portion in the leaking member 22 into an uncollected solid portion, showing an alternatively preferred compact portion 54. As can be seen in Fig. 8 22 has a compact section 54 and a non-compact section 55. The compact section 54 comprises a number of continuous strips, of which 56 are
JT areas which are merely enlarged sections of film 56. i £ films identify between them reservoirs 57.
As can be seen in Figure 9, which is a perspective view of the Resistant in the leaking member 22 shown. in Figure 8 in a compiled configuration, the solid portion 54- is fitted to the rubber member 59 and is preferably also fitted to the back sheet 23 * whereas the non-solid portion 55 is not fitted to either the rubber member 59 or the sheet 23.As the rubber member 59 contracts, the die plate 21 collapses .As previously described, the non-compact portion 55 bends at a low frequency. thus forming pads 60. Those areas of the pads 60 which touch the wearer when the diaper is worn form the contact surface of the wearer 58.
The compact portion 54 having bent to the lower range Because the non-compact portion 55 will be exposed below the contact surface of the wearer 58, the expansion areas 62 provide additional control over the bending frequency of the amplitude and the regularity of the compact portion. 54. 'Therefore oJ. Expandable areas 62 can be stretched to provide a more normal bending trace.
Expandable areas 62 which are generally rectangular with a dimension of 0.100 Inches (, 2 MM) and a dimension of 0.030 Inches (0.76 MM) placed on a strip 56 having a width of 0.030 Inches (used, 6 M); Satisfactory areas were placed 0.25 inches (6.3 mm) center-to-center with the long dimension of the expandable areas 62 perpendicular to the length of the tape 56. The 56 strips were 0.575 inches (9.5 17.1) apart.
Figure 10 is a plan view of a portion of the leak-resistant portion 22 in a non-collectible formation showing a gel alternatively preferred solid portion 54. As can be seen in Fig. has a solid portion 54 and a non-compact portion 55. A solid portion 55 comprises a plurality of continuous bands 56 with expanding regions 62 and a plurality of disconnected regions 64. The strips 56 identify reservoirs 57 between them which are interrupted by detached areas. Elastic member 59 and preferably fits on the burn sheet 23 while the non-solid part 54 does not fit on either the Elastic member or the planer sheet 23. As the Elastic member 59 contracts the blade sheet 21 is collected. As previously described, the non-compact portion 55 bends at a low frequency but high amplitude compared to the compact portion & 54 forming cushions 60. 58.
The solid part 54 having been bent to a lower width than the non-solid part 55 will be exposed below the contact surface of the wearer 58. The expanding zones 62 provide additional control of the bending frequency, amplitude, and regularity of the compact portion 54. * Therefore, the expanding zones 62 may be positioned so as to provide a more normal flexural trace than a band. having expandable areas ot Disconnected areas 64 provide additional control over the formation of the pads 60 as the compact area 55 is collected. Disconnected areas 64 are positioned to encourage the formation of cushions 60 which will retain their shape and upper, as the Leak Resistant member 22 is positioned against the skin of the diaper wearer.
* It is not desirable to link to any theory describing the operation of the present invention as it is believed that the improvement and retention of fluid is achieved in a manner which will now be described.
In use, the diaper 10 is placed between the wearer's legs and a rear waist part 32 and a front waist part £ 33 are pulled and tied around the wearer waist using any suitable means such as adhesive tapes. 39. “When the diaper 10 of the present invention is applied to a patch, it exhibits improved bulk retention. As the urine leaks onto the top sheet section? 12, Some of the urine penetrates the top sheet 12 where it is absorbed by the Absorbent nucleus 14 (Absorbed urine), some of the urine flows to the surface of the top sheet portion I2 through of the top sheet section 12 and some of the urine flows into a capillary channel formed in the interfacial area between the top sheet 12 and the wearer's bundle. diaper.
Absorbed urine completely escapes the Absorbing nucleus moving from the point of discharge (ie the area of the limbs
34) to the first and second elongate lateral ends 37 ha (38.
- Ρτ '
Therefore, the Absorbed Tails reach the edge of the Absorbent Core 14. If the member present in the leakage member 22 lies outside the Absorbent Core 14, the Absorbed Tails are delayed until they reach the periphery.
The surface tails are similarly moved from the end point to the first and second elongate lateral ends 37 and 33 on the surface of the top sheet 12. As the surface urine approaches the first and second elongate limbs 37 and 5, respectively, the solid portion 54 will fall off. They absorb lightly and form fuses laterally along the continuous strip 56 rather than continuing to flow to the first and second elongate lateral ends 37 and 38 of the diaper 10. As the local areas of the films 56 are saturated, the surface urine may provide a retarding effect of the film 56 and may flow in and be contained under the tank 57. As the tank 57 the surface urine will meet a second band 56 and again it will be absorbed and will form fuses laterally along the strip 56. or is prevented from reaching the first and second elongate lateral ends 37 and 38 of the diaper 10.
The fluid slowed down from flowing along the capillary channel formed between the top portion portion 12 and the wearer's skin through the lifting difference between the compact portion 54 and the non-compact portion r;

Thus, the liquid flowing between its skin and the top sheet 12 will meet with an AZs film; in the preferred embodiment illustrated in Figures I and 2 it is compressed below the wearer's contact surface and therefore no contact is made with the skin. . Thus, a Discontinuity is created between the wearer's skin and him. top sheet section 12. * This continuously interrupts the capillary channel and further delays the flow of fluid to the first and second elongate lateral ends 37 and 58.In the embodiment shown in Figures 4 and 5, the solid portion 56 a Discontinuity is created again Even if the elastic member tends to compress the solid portion 56 in contact with the skin of the wearer.
Finally, the urine is absorbed directly under the top part of the leaf. 12 form fuses laterally through the topsheet portion 12 to the first and second lateral ends 37 and 38. urine to form fuses laterally along the strip 56. Urine Absorbed under the topsheet 12 is thus protected from reaching the first and second elongate lateral ends 37 and 38.
