Dispensing closure with pressure actuated valve

A valved dispensing closure (14) is adapted to be mounted on a resiliently deformable bottle (12). The valved closure (14) has a self-sealing dispensing valve (16) mounted internally of the base (30) of the closure (14) by securement in the form of an internally mounted retaining ring (50) or inner deformable plug. A protective cover (54) is adapted to extend over the side and top of the base (30) to protect the valve (16) from inadvertent activation. A tamper evident indication is at the bottom of the base (30) to visually indicate when the closure (14) is removed after having been applied on the container after it is filled with product to be dispensed.
