The constitution of the shell in a suitable material is the essential condition for obtaining perfect foundry parts. To prevent the formation of cracks, there are, in known manner, vents, pressure blocks and vents to be calibrated by which an additional supply of metal is made to the parts of the part which are liable to crack. But, in the manufacture of foundry parts which have accumulations of material in places difficult to supply, it is often forced, even by using said means to prevent the formation of cracks, to use shells divided into numerous parts, because the constructive realization of these means is often not possible with simple and economical shells, of known types, comprising only two parts.
The subject of the present invention is a shell comprising new type of interior linings, forming shear vents, which makes it possible to manufacture foundry parts having accumulations of material in places difficult to supply, without the need for have recourse to the multiple subdivision of the necessary shell as in the devices used until now.
There is shown, in the accompanying drawing, an embodiment of the invention. In this drawing;
Fig. 1 is a side elevation of a foundry piece; 35
Fig. 2 is a plane corresponding to FIG. 1;
Fig. 3 is a section through ab of FIG. 1:
Fig. 4 is a cross section, similar to that of FIG. 3, a two-part ko shell confers on the invention, intended for molding the part shown in FIGS. 1 to 3;
Fig. 5 is a detail of FIG. 4, in section through the cd line. 45
During the casting of the casting shown in fig. 1 to 3, the bosses 1 and 2 also cannot be supplied, even by the provision of known means such as vents to be calibrated, using the 50 known shells in two parts, but they can be supplied, in accordance with the invention, using a two-part shell comprising two removable linings forming shear vents. 55
On the side of the bosses 1 and 2, two shear vent packings 4 are inserted into the two half-shells 3 which are constituted by two half-shells 4 'hooped in the press by a tubular eyîindri- β piece0 as 4. The inner surface and the parts of the outer surface of the half-shells

4 'which are not enclosed by the cylindrical tubular part 4 have a conical shape. Between the half-shells 4 'is formed a longitudinal slot 5 which is turned, during the casting, towards the foundry part (see also fig. 5).
During casting, the hollow space 6 provided for the casting, the vent 7 disposed above this space and the hollow spaces io formed by the two half-shells 4 'are filled, for example up to line 8. As soon as the solidification of the metal begins, the connection of the foundry part with the metal contained in the vents 9 formed by the half-shells 4 'is interrupted by rotating by means of bars
10, the linings 4, the metal filling the vents 9 thus being sheared. The linings 4 are then removed with the metal 9 which they contain and emptied by inversion. Then, the shell is opened, ao like any known shell in two parts, by removing the shell halves in the direction of the arrows 11 and 12, and the foundry piece is removed.
