Banknotes authenticating device has erasing head and one or more magnetic heads and calibration unit permitting authentication of magnetic tape of banknotes on base of several non alterable features of authentic banknotes

The present invention relates to a device for analyzing banknotes in order to determine their authenticity.

The authentication of banknotes is traditionally carried out using devices analyzing either the density of the fiduciary paper, or the qualities of transparency or reflection of this same paper (opacity), but also using devices composed of ultra-violet lamps (also called WOOD lamps). These different techniques are ineffective given that some are based on analysis criteria which deteriorate over time and the many manipulations of banknotes (wear, dirt, etc.), and others are overwhelmed by the ingenuity of counterfeiters.

The device according to the invention overcomes these drawbacks. It comprises according to a first characteristic, a housing having an orifice through which the banknote can be inserted, a micro stepper motor linearly slaved in speed making it possible to drive the banknote to be analyzed, a mechanical positioning system provided for be able to analyze all the denominations of the banknotes to be verified, a magnetism erasing head to prevent counterfeiting of the magnetic tape included in the paper of authentic banknotes, one or more magnetic detection heads followed by its amplifiers in FM mode for the detection of the magnetic marking of the magnetic strip included in the paper of authentic banknotes, of a calibrator for the detection of the intensity of the magnetic flux emitted by this same strip, of a counting of the bits that make up the strip magnetic included in the paper of authentic banknotes, a checker of the spacing between these same bits as well as their length and width.

The response of this analysis can be done either by a digital display, or by sets of lights of different colors (Green = True, Red = False), or by a voice response announcing the face value of the banknote analyzed if it is authentic or its nullity if it is false

The power portion shall provide a stabilized, regulated and sufficiently cooled power source for 24 hour use.

According to the particular embodiments:

- the power supply can be provided either from the mains or from the accumulator

- a ramp of infrared diodes and an infrared sensor can be integrated into the device in order to detect the presence of infrared marks on the banknote to be analyzed

- An epilator can be attached to the housing in order to place a bundle of banknotes to be authenticated.

With reference to these drawings, the device comprises a housing (1), one of the side faces of which is provided with an orifice (2), having a shape corresponding to that of a banknote (10). The opposite face has an orifice (3), allowing the passage of the power cord (4) and a receptacle (5), making it possible to house the batteries (6). The upper face has an orifice (17), which allows the exit of the analyzed note (10).

Inside the case (1), wheels (7) drive the banknote (10). These wheels (7) turn thanks to the action of the micro motor (8). The erasing head (9) attempts to erase the magnetism from the magnetic stripe of the banknote (10) being analyzed. The magnetic detection heads (11) followed by its amplifiers in FM mode (12) verify the presence of magnetism, the number of bits present on the tape. The calibrator (13) checks the length and width of these same bits present on the magnetic strip of genuine banknotes. A guide (18) allows the banknote (10) to be returned to the outlet (17). Finally, the speaker (14) gives the verdict.

In the embodiment of FIG. 2, there is the presence of an infrared diode ramp (15) as well as an infrared sensor (16) which will verify the presence of infrared marks on the banknote (10).
