Method for taking stereoscopic images and device for implementing this method
Abstract

(57) The invention relates to a method of taking stereoscopic images from a consumer device, of the reflex type or not, and the device for implementing said method.
According to the invention, said method consists:
a) to take a first view. in a well determined position a of the device, noting the detail point 4 of view 3 which coincides with a well defined reference 2, located on the viewfinder 1 of the device;
“B) to take a second view b by shifting the device, for example to the right, by a distance d substantially equal to * that existing between the axes of the two eyes, ie approximately 7 I centimeters, and making coincide the previous reference 2 of the camera with the detail point 4 of the view 3 noted during the first shooting.
According to the invention, the device for implementing the method comprises two optical systems, placed side by side at a distance substantially equal to that existing between the axes of the two eyes, capable of simultaneously viewing the two slides 24 x 36 millimeters resulting of said process.

The invention relates to a process for taking stereo-scopic shots from a consumer device, of the reflex type or not, and the device for implementing said process.
The known methods and devices of the kind in question involve:
a) a camera of a special type obtained, either by coupling two cameras with simultaneous release, or by association of two lenses in the same housing;
b) a special support, of the card or disk type, on which are integrated a series of views of approximately 10 x 10 millimeters designed by the manufacturer;
c) a special display device for the previous support.
Such an assembly requires specific equipment which is not within the reach of the general public due to its technicality and its cost.
The object of the present invention is to use:
a) a general-purpose camera, reflex or not, according to a simple and reliable method of taking pictures;
b) directly from 24 x 36 mm commercial slides;
c) a simple and inexpensive stereoscopic viewing device.
Indeed, the method according to the invention consists:
a) to take a first view, in a well-determined position of the camera, noting the point of detail of the view which coincides with a well-defined reference point located on the viewfinder of the camera; ''
b) to take a second view by shifting the apparatus, for example to the right, by a distance substantially equal to that existing between the axes of the two eyes, that is to say approximately 7 centimeters, and by making the preceding reference mark coincide with the camera with the detail of the view noted during the first shot. ''
It is further characterized in that the views obtained are 24 x 36 slides.
As for the device for implementing the process:
a) it comprises two optical systems, placed side by side at a distance substantially equal to that existing between the axes of the two eyes, capable of simultaneously viewing the two 24 x 36 slides;
b) it is produced from a single cardboard sheet in which:
a) openings for optical systems, for slides and
-2 for the diffuser type wall;
b) pre-folding so as to obtain, after folding, an autonomous device having its dark room, its light diffusion chamber and an opening for the passage of the slides to be viewed;
Other characteristics and advantages will appear on reading the following detailed description of a preferred embodiment of the invention given by way of example only and shown in the accompanying drawings.
In these drawings:
- Figure 1 is the block diagram of the method of taking pictures;
- Figure 2 shows the possible marks on the camera lens;
- Figure 3 is the developed view of the device once cut and pre-folded;
- Figures 4, 5 and 6 are respectively the side views; front and top of the device once mounted.
According to FIGS. 1 and 2, the process in question consists of:
a) to take a first view, in a well-determined position (a) of the apparatus, noting the point of detail (4) of the view (3) which coincides with a well-defined reference (2), located on the viewfinder (1) of the device;
b) to take a second view (b) by shifting the device, for example to the right, by a distance (d) substantially equal to that existing between the axes of the two eyes, that is to say approximately 7 cm, and making coincide the previous mark (2) of the camera with the detail point (4) of the view (3) noted during the first shot.
According to another characteristic of the invention, it consists in using a marker (6-7) originally existing on the lens of the camera, whether or not it was initially provided for this purpose.
According to a variant of the invention, it consists in using a marker (7) produced, by the user, on the frosted wall of the viewfinder of a reflex type device.
According to another characteristic of the invention, the reference mark is preferably chosen in the lower zone of the apparatus, in other words below its central point (c), so that it coincides with the first plane of the view to photograph.
According to a feature of the invention, the views obtained are slides of dimensions 24 x 36 mm.
According to FIG. 3, the device in question comprises two optical systems (9), placed side by side at a distance substantially equal to that existing between the axes of the two eyes, capable of simultaneously viewing
- the two 24 x 36 slides.
It is made from a single cardboard sheet (8), in which have been practiced:
a) openings (9) for optical systems (25), openings (10—
11) for reading 24x36 and one slides. opening (12) for fixing the diffuser type element (26);
b) pre-folding so as to obtain, after folding, an autonomous device having its darkroom (13-15-17-21-22), its diffusion chamber (27-14-19-20-23) and a passage (18) intended for slides to be viewed.
According to FIGS. 4,5 and 6, the device in question, once mounted, is characterized in that:
a) the panel (19) becomes parallel to the panel (20) at a distance defined by the width of the panel (14) or (27);
b) the panel (21) becomes parallel to the panel (22) at a distance defined by the width of the panel (15) defining a focal length of 50 mm.
c) the panel (19) becomes parallel to the panel (21) at a distance, defined by the folded element (24), allowing the passage of the slides. The element (24) itself being obtained by cutting and folding (not shown for reasons of convenience).
As for the other elements represented, they are defined as follows:
- (27) and (14) are panels delimiting the thickness of the diffusion chamber;
- (15) delimits the length of the darkroom;
- (16) are flaps which cover and laterally hold the assembly of the two chambers constituting the device;
- (18) corresponds to the space, defined by the element (24), necessary for the passage of the slides;
- (19) corresponds to the panel in which the openings (10) have been made; 30 - (20) corresponds to the panel in which the opening (12) has been made for receiving the diffuser element (26), for example in frosted plastic;
- (21) corresponds to the openings (11), and (22) to the openings (9);
- (23) laterally delimit the diffusion chamber.
For reasons of convenience, all the attachment and bonding points, panels between them, have not been shown. 1
Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiment described and shown for which we can provide other variants without departing from the scope of the invention.
