Th is piston cover 1 has three notches 7 for the evacuation of air, a shoulder 8 positioning the piston head 2. The piston head is a thin flexible membrane in the shape of a slightly flared cup.

This device according to the invention is particularly intended for the conservation of food or industrial products alterable to the air, during consumption or use.

The present invention relates to a device for storing weatherable products in air. Although hermetic, the lids of boxes of food or chemical products alterable to air do not traditionally eliminate the presence of air in contact with the product remaining after a start of use. This sometimes hinders or prohibits the reuse of these products.

The device according to our invention overcomes this drawback.

It comprises a piston cover (1) provided with a piston head (2) whic h slide by friction while allowing the evacuation of the air in a cylindrical container (3) or parallelepiped in order to come into contact with the product contained in the container and keep it well away from air. The upper edge of the slightly flared container (4) to facilitate the introduction of the cover may include a pouring spout (5). The piston cover has a handle (6) for its operation and three notches (7) at its periphery allowing the evacuation of air. Its shape is such that it slides by friction inside the container. It has a shoulder (8) allowing the positioning of the piston head. The piston head consisting of a thin flexible membrane is placed in contact with the product by the piston cover and can descend to the bottom of the container following its filling. Its slightly flared bowl shape allows the air to escape by erasing its edges when faced with air pressure when it is pushed into the container. Its outside diameter is slightly greater than the inside diameter of the container.

The entire device can preferably be made of plastic.

The piston head will be used for long-term storage or in the case of air-hardening product. It is intended to be destroyed before the product is reused. In other conservation cases only the piston can be used to ensure the desired airtightness.
