First addition, dated September 7, igo3, to the Patent taken on June 3, igo3 by Mr. Ernest-Élie DAVOT residing in France.

Container and its method of packaging for transporting live yeasts.

Issued on November 17 igo3; published on January igoù.

The purpose of this addition is various improvements made to the container for transporting live yeasts and to its method of packaging described in the main patent.

In the attached drawing given only for demonstration:

Fig. 1 is a vertical section of the container and its box provided with the various improvements;

The container, instead of being spherical, like that described in the main patent, affects

5 preferably the shape shown in fig. 1. It is fitted at a suitable height with a bead b and its lower part engages exactly in the inner circle c of the Cardan suspension on which the bead b rests.

_9O This inner circle c is articulated on the outer circle d, which is itself articulated on two opposite sides of the box e which contains the container and is provided with a lid / having an appropriate closing mode.

The container cap a. consists here of a kind of deep-drawn metal bowl g pierced in the center of a hole Λ with an internal rim into which the pinion tubing i can engage, intended to prevent the foam from propagating outside.

In a central excavation of the plug g · is housed a rubber washer j pierced or not with a central hole and covered by a disc k slightly stamped and held in position by a bar l arranged diametrically on the plug k and of which the ends are folded back inside the edge of the bowl as clearly shown in fig. 1.

By this arrangement, the container a is completely closed, but if the gases accumulate inside, as soon as a certain pressure is manifested, the disc k can lift up to let escape the gases, then it is brought back on its seat, formed by the ron- b 5 dellej, by the elasticity effect of the bar l.

In the drawing, a single bar is shown, but there may be several arranged diametrically and at suitable angles on the bowl g.

Towards the upper edge of the container a are arranged several projections m, / n, the lower side of which is inclined. The edge of the cover g carries several internal projections n which can be engaged between the projections and by 5 ^ turning this cover g, the projections n cost the booklet: 1 franc.

ORGANIC, FOOD AND OTHER SUBSTANCES, ETC. [332.713] lie beneath the inclined edges of the projections m, m, to lower the cover and tighten, between the edges of the container a and the inner face of the bowl g, the rubber washer o which forms a tight seal at this location.

It is, in short, a bayonet fitting giving sufficient tightening as a result of the inclination of the lower edges of the projections m, m.

io Each of the two circles c and d consists of two semicircles as shown in fig. at.

The ends of these semicircles apply respectively to each other and

5 are maintained by the axes of articulation p, p or q, q, of these circles which form rivets, and by complementary rivets r, r, diametrically opposite which, consequently, balance perfectly, because it is, in fact,

0 important that the container has always be kept as horizontal as possible.

Pavilion i is not essential with this arrangement, because the container is completely closed by the disc k forming a valve. 3o replaced by a square frame, if desired. To avoid fraud, two strings or metal wires can be attached to the hinge axes p, p, pass these strings around the bar or bars Z, tie their ends and seal the knot with a lead seal.
