Urban address location and direction method - utilises keyboard and retrieval of map references from diskette store based on grid reference

The required address is keyboarded into an information console (2) equipped with a processor, which searches the diskette and reads the number of the corresponding map section. This is indicated by lighting of the appropriate square on a screen (6). Keyboarding of this number causes a chain of receptacles (19) driven by a motor (17) and reduction gear (18) to deliver the map section, which appears in a window (9) opening for access. Details of public transport to the required area are also displayed. Reference numbers of the area are reproduced on plaques displayed at each street corner, which also indicate the direction of increasing and decreasing house numbers, and may furnish other local information.
