Process and apparatus for stretching a tubularly-formed sheet of a thermo-plastic material and the product produced thereby
Abstract
Procedure for longitudinally stretching a tubularly formed sheet, of orientable polymeric material, characterized in that said tubularly formed sheet is welded at preselected intervals perpendicular to the movement of said sheet prior to its stretching, said sheet is introduced into the pass between interlocking rollers provided with grooves parallel to the axis of said rollers; the speed of introduction of said sheet in said pass is controlled substantially at the speed of rotation of said rollers in order to stretch incremental portions of said sheet longitudinally; said sheet is removed from said rollers at a speed greater than the rotation speed of said rollers; and the sheet thus drawn is collected.
