A solid sulfoalkyl ether cyclodextrin (SAE-CD) composition having a Carr number ranging from 10-40% compressibility, a static angle of repose ranging from 28-45 degrees, and microflow fractal dimension analysis from 1.0-1.2, when measured according to the methods set forth in Example 6 of the description; and wherein the composition is prepared by spray agglomeration.
