Container and lid

A moisture-tight container (300), comprising: a container body (301) having a base (355) and a side wall (305) extending therefrom, the body (301) defining an interior configured to house product, the body (301) also having an opening leading to the interior; a lid (320) that is connected to the body (301) by a hinge (340) and is pivotable about the hinge (340) relative to the container body (301) to move the container (300) between a closed position wherein the cover (320) covers the opening to create a moisture-tight seal (460) with the body (301) and an open position in which the opening is exposed, the moisture-tight seal (460) comprising a plurality of mating seals applied in series between the body (301) and the lid (320) when the lid (320) is in the closed position, including the plurality of seals mating seals applied to at least a first seal (462) and a second seal (464); wherein the first seal (462) is formed by coupling a thermoplastic sealing surface of the body (301) to a thermoplastic sealing surface of the lid (320), the second seal (464) being formed by coupling a thermoplastic sealing surface of the body (301) with an elastomeric sealing surface (430) of the lid (320), the elastomeric sealing surface (430) comprising an elastomer (432) that is configured to be compressed by an upper surface of a rim (345) surrounding the opening when the lid (320) is in the closed position, characterized by that the elastomer is an elastomer ring (432), and in that vertical compression of the elastomeric ring (432) causes a portion of the ring (432) to elastically expand radially into a gap (480) provided between the body (301) and the cap (320).
