Solar mirrors and methods of making solar mirrors having improved properties

Abstract

An article for reflecting solar energy comprising: a substrate having a first surface and an opposing second surface, and a solar reflective coating comprising: a first metallic solar reflective film, hereinafter also referred to as "first film metallic", the first metallic film having a first surface and an opposing second surface; a second metallic solar reflective film, hereinafter also referred to as a "second metallic film", the second metallic film having a first surface and an opposing second surface; a release layer having a first surface and an opposing second surface, wherein the first surface of the release layer is on the second surface of the first metal film and the first surface of the second metal film is on the second surface of the release film, wherein the first surface of the first metallic film is on and attached to the second surface of the substrate, wherein the separation layer comprises an oxide of Ti, Zn, Sn or a combination thereof and has a thickness in the range of 0.005 to 10% of the thickness of the solar reflective coating.
