A package editing processing procedure, comprising: generating (101) an input packet template based on N protocol header fields to edit of an input packet, wherein the input packet template comprises N protocol descriptors that correspond, one by one, to the N protocol header fields, wherein the input packet template further comprises a template descriptor, wherein the template descriptor comprises a protocol combination description field, wherein the protocol combination description field is used to describe a first sequence of protocol indications, the protocol indications corresponding to the protocol descriptors comprised in the input packet template, generating a protocol field mapping relationship preset, wherein the protocol field mapping relationship is a mapping relationship between a protocol field comprised in a protocol descriptor and a protocol field comprised in a protocol header field that has a correspondence with the protocol descriptor, perform (102) the edit processing on the input package template to get an output package template, wherein performing the edit processing on the input packet template comprises: determining a sequence of edit processing instructions corresponding to the first sequence; and invoke the given sequence of edit processing instructions to perform edit processing on the input package template, perform edit processing on an input package to get an output package, where performing edit processing on the entry package comprises: convert (103), based on the pre-established protocol field mapping relationship, M protocol descriptors comprised in the obtained output packet template, into M protocol header fields of an output packet, and replace (104) the N protocol header fields in the input packet with the M protocol header fields to obtain the output packet, where N and M are positive integers; where N is not equal to M; wherein the package edit processing procedure is such that, when considering performing edit processing on the input package template and performing edit processing on the input package the edit processing is mainly performed on the input package template rather than the entire input package.
