Virtual queuing techniques

Abstract

A virtual queue system (114), comprising: a virtual queue controller (130) comprising a processor and a memory, wherein the memory stores instructions executable by the processor and is configured to make the virtual queue controller ( 130): receives a request, the request being associated with an individual visitor, for a position in a virtual queue of an attraction (112), the attraction (112) comprising a plurality of trips (118), where the virtual queue allows the access of the individual visitor to one of the plurality of trips (118) of the attraction, and wherein the visitors in the virtual queue are distributed among the plurality of trips (118) of the attraction through the virtual queue; assign the individual visitor the position in the virtual queue of the attraction in response to the request; receive ride schedule data for the attraction, wherein the ride schedule data comprises information about a change in the status of individual rides of the plurality of rides (118); and determine a wait time for the individual visitor to the attraction based on at least the individual visitor's position in the virtual queue, the ride schedule data, and historical visitor performance at the attraction (112); communications circuitry configured to send a signal to a device associated with the visitor indicating the wait time for the attraction (112); wherein the virtual queue controller (130) receives, from a monitoring device provided at the attraction (112), a visitor performance signal indicative of real-time visitor performance for the attraction (112); and wherein the communications circuit is further configured to send a ride modification signal to an amusement park operator device (480) in response to waiting times being longer than a maximum limit or shorter than a limit. Minimum of a timeout interval as determined based on the visitor performance signal.
