DESCRIPTION
Reusable diapers
Countryside
This disclosure generally refers to reusable diapers.
Background
This section provides background information related to this disclosure that is not necessarily prior art.
Absorbent articles, such as disposable diapers, training diapers, or incontinence panty liners, generally have an absorbent core intended for single use only. Once the absorbent core component becomes saturated with bodily discharges such as urine, the entire absorbent article is normally discarded. Sometimes parts of a disposable diaper or a training diaper could be reused. But nevertheless, with the unitary construction, these are discarded along with the saturated absorbent cores. In addition to the added cost and expense associated with disposing of such products, it is often inconvenient to purchase and store quantities of such disposable absorbent articles.
US 2,500,255 discloses a diaper in which two soft cords are inserted into a channel of the diaper and lie adjacent to an opening from which they are pulled out and joined together. WO 2008/030984 discloses a reusable diaper that includes a first waist portion having tabbed corner regions releasably attached to a second waist portion.
Summary
This section provides a general summary of the disclosure and is not an extensive disclosure of its full scope or features.
In accordance with various aspects, exemplary embodiments of reusable diapers are disclosed herein. In an exemplary embodiment, a reusable diaper generally includes front and back waist portions. At least one corner tab can be releasably attached to the front and rear waist portions, so that the corner tab can be fully detached from the diaper. There is at least one substantially liquid impervious pocket, which is configured to receive therein at least a portion of the corner tab when the front and rear waist portions are releasably attached to the corner tab. The placement of the corner tab portion in the pocket helps to inhibit the absorption of liquid through the pocket and into the corner tab.
The first and second sets of corner tabs can be releasably attached to the front and rear waist portions, such that the second set of corner tabs is interchangeable with the first set of corner tabs. The second set of corner tabs is dimensioned differently from the first set of corner tabs, such that the diaper has a first size when the front and rear waist portions are releasably attached by the first set of corner tabs and such that the diaper has a second size different from the first size when the front waist portions and rear are releasably attached by the second set of corner tabs.
A first pocket is provided in a side side portion of the front waist portion. A second pocket is provided in a portion on the opposite side of the front waist portion. A third pocket is provided in a side side portion of the rear waist portion. A fourth pocket is provided in a portion on the opposite side of the rear waist portion. The first and second pairs of corner tabs each have front and rear end portions that can be releasably attached to the respective front and rear waist portions within the respective first, second, third, and fourth pockets, such that the second pair of corner tabs is interchangeable with the first pair of corner tabs. The second pair of corner tabs is dimensioned differently than the first pair of corner tabs. The corner tabs define portions of the waist and leg openings of the diaper when releasably attached to the front and back waist portions, such that interchanging the first and second pairs of corner tabs changes the size of the opening of the diaper. waist and leg diaper.
Other areas of applicability will be apparent from the description provided herein. The description and specific examples in this summary are intended for purposes of illustration only and are not intended to limit the scope of this disclosure.

Detailed description
Example embodiments will now be described more fully with reference to the accompanying drawings.
Figures 1-9 illustrate an exemplary embodiment of a reusable diaper (generally indicated 300) that represents one or more aspects of the present disclosure. As shown in FIG. 1, there are interchangeable sets of corner tabs 317 of different sizes, which are releasably attached to the reusable diaper 300 to adjust and adapt the size of the diaper to the wearer (eg one size fits all style, etc.), for example, to provide a relatively snug fit around the waist and leg openings of the wearer (eg, infant, child, adult, etc.).
ES 2 579 653 T3
The corner tabs 317 include first and second opposed end portions 319 and 321 having separate female clip members 331, 333, respectively. These clip members 331, 333 can fit corresponding male clip members 323, 325, respectively, within the front and rear pockets 303, 305 of the reusable diaper 300, as shown by FIGS. 3 to 5. In this example, the front pockets 303 are closed end pockets disposed on the opposite side side portions of the front waist portion 312, while the rear pockets 305 are closed end pockets disposed on the opposite side side portions of the waist portion. rear waist 310. The reusable diaper 300 includes a crotch portion 314 disposed generally between the first and second waist portions 310, 312. Other embodiments may include one or more pockets at other locations.
When releasably attached to diaper 300, corner tabs 317 define part of the waistband of diaper 300. Thus, selecting and releasably affixing a shorter corner tab 317 will reduce functional waist compared to size. functional waist when using a longer tongue 317. Similarly, selectably and releasably attaching a shorter corner tab 317 will reduce the leg opening size compared to the leg opening size when using a longer tab 317, since corner tabs 317 include curved portions. or minor contours that define part of the generally curved leg openings. Accordingly, the functional size of the waist and leg openings of the diaper 300 can be adjusted, changed or adapted depending on which length of corner tab 317 is selected and attached to the diaper 300.
Continuing with reference to FIGS. 3-5, FIG. 3 illustrates reusable diaper 300 with the longer set of corner tabs 317 of FIG. 1 releasably attached to the reusable diaper 300 without any loop members 382, 384, 386 along the front portion of the diaper attached to each other. For comparison, FIG. 4 illustrates reusable diaper 300 with intermediate length corner tabs 317 releasably attached to reusable diaper 300 and with upper and middle rows of loop members 382, 384 along the front portion of the diaper joined together, so that the functional waist size of the diaper, the leg opening size and the rise or crotch length are reduced compared to FIG. 3. By way of further comparison, FIG. 5 illustrates the reusable diaper 300 with the shorter set of corner tabs 317 releasably attached to the reusable diaper 300 and with the upper and lower rows of loop members 382, 386 along the front portion of the diaper joined together, so that the functional waist size of the diaper, the leg opening size and the rise or crotch length is further reduced than that shown in FIG. Four.
The size of the corner tabs 317 can be varied depending, for example, on whether the diaper is intended for use by an adult or a child. In an example embodiment, first and second sets of interchangeable corner tabs are provided. In this example, each corner tab of the first set, when unstretched, may have an overall length of approximately 132 millimeters, with a distance of approximately 99 millimeters separating the tie columns at the opposite end portions of the unstretched corner tab. stretched out. But when the corner tabs of the first set are fully stretched, each tab has an overall length of about 232 millimeters, with a distance of about 200 millimeters separating the tie columns at opposite end portions of the fully stretched corner tab. Also in this example, each corner tab of the second shorter set, when unstretched, may have an overall length of approximately 80 millimeters, with a distance of approximately 48 millimeters separating the tie columns at the opposite end portions of the tab. corner not stretched. But when the corner tabs of the second set are fully stretched, each tab has an overall length of about 135 millimeters with a distance of about 101 millimeters separating the tie columns at opposite end portions of the fully stretched corner tab. Consequently, swapping the first and second sets of tabs provides approximately 304 millimeters of maximum variance in diaper waist size, as determined by the total length separating the loop columns from the longer tabs when fully stretched (2 x 200 millimeters and subtracting it from the total length that separates the clip columns from the shorter tabs when they are not stretched (2 x 48 millimeters). The dimensions in this paragraph are provided in this document for illustrative purposes only. The particular dimensions and values provided are not intended to limit the scope of this disclosure. For example, other exemplary embodiments may include more or less than two sets of tabs (eg, one set of tabs (eg, FIG. 10, etc.), three sets of tabs (eg, FIG. 1, etc.) and / or tabs having different configurations (eg longer, shorter, thicker, thinner, differently shaped, etc.).
The pockets 303, 305 are also configured to receive therein at least a portion of the corner tabs 317 when the front and rear waist portions 312, 310 are releasably attached to the corner tabs 317. Pockets 303, 305 are preferably configured to be substantially impervious to liquids, such that the placement of end portions 319, 321 of corner tabs 317 in corresponding pockets 303, 305 helps to inhibit absorption of liquids through pockets 303, 305 and towards corner tabs 317. By keeping moisture from absorbing into the corner tabs 317, the pockets 303, 305 help make diaper changes 300 less unpleasant so that the diaper changers will not have to handle wet corner tabs.
ES 2 579 653 T3
In this example, the clip members are plastic. Alternatively, the loop members can be formed from other materials that are relatively preferably light in weight and durable to withstand repeated wash cycles. Alternative embodiments may include corner tabs that include more or fewer clip members in other arrangements than those shown in FIG. 1, such as that shown in FIG. 10. As another for example, another embodiment may include male clip members in the corner tabs and female clip members within the diaper pockets. As an exemplary embodiment, the corner tabs and pockets may each have both male and female loop members. Still other embodiments may include a wide range of other fastening means or fastening systems other than clips, such as adhesives, buttons, snaps, Velcro® hook and loop fasteners, magnets, elastic straps, adjustable straps, combinations thereof. , etc. Still other embodiments may include one of the end portions of a corner tab fixedly fixed within a pocket and / or a corner tab that is collapsible on itself to reduce the functional length of the corner tab.
The corner tabs 317 can be elastically stretched to allow some degree of adjustability to the functional waist size of the reusable diaper, as defined by the first and second waist portions 310, 312. In some embodiments, the corner tabs 317 can formed from 95% polyester and 5% spandex, allowing the 317 corner tabs to stretch and maintain a flat profile when stretched or unstretched. Alternatively, the corner tab 317 can be formed using other suitable materials.
FIG. 6A illustrates the inner pockets 309, 311 of the outer diaper cover or layer 358, in which the end portions 313, 315 of the liquid absorbent pad 306 are located as shown in FIGS. 7-9. In FIGS. 6-8, the outermost portion or flaps 308 of the pockets 309, 311 are illustrated removed or opened, as to illustrate the exemplary manner in which the end portions 313, 315 of the liquid absorbent pad 306 can be positioned within and be releasably secured within the inner pockets 309, 311 of the outer cover 358.
As shown in FIG. 9, the end portions 313, 315 of the liquid absorbent pad 306 within the inner pockets 309, 311 are substantially covered by the outermost portions or flaps 308 of the inner pockets 309, 311. This inhibits contact between those covered portions. 313, 315 of the liquid absorbent pad 306 and the diaper user or diaper changers. Also, in this example, the outermost portions of the pockets or flaps 308 also substantially cover the Velcro® hook and loop fasteners 339, 341, 343, and 345 and thus inhibit contact between skin or clothing. wearer's diaper and Velcro® hook and loop closures. These flaps 308 can also help keep the liquid absorbent pad 306 in place within the diaper 300.
The outer cover 358 can be of a wide variety of materials. In this exemplary embodiment, the outer shell 358 is formed of polyester, such that the outer shell 358 is impermeable to water and substantially impermeable to liquids, to thereby resist absorption of moisture through the outer layer 358. Alternatively, the outer shell 358 can be formed of different materials.
The liquid absorbent pad 306 can be formed from a wide variety of materials that are configured to absorb and store liquids therein. By way of example, liquid absorbent pad 306 may comprise one or more of microfibers, hay, hydrocolloid materials, or any other suitable material configured to absorb and store liquids therein. In some exemplary embodiments, the liquid absorbent pad 306 is formed from one or more organic cotton material, Terry microfiber, and / or suede cloth.
In this particular embodiment, liquid absorbent pad 306 is shown with Velcro® hook and loop closure strips 339, 341 on its outer or front side (FIG. 6B), Velcro® hook and loop closure strips 343, 345 on its inner or rear side (FIG. 6C) and fold lines 347 and 349 (eg, stitching, etc.). As shown by FIGS. 7-9, the Velcro® hook and loop closure strap 345 can be releasably attached to the corresponding Velcro® hook and loop closure strap 351 within pocket 311 of diaper 300. In addition, any one of the other closures Velcro® hook and loop fasteners 339, 341, 345 can be selectively attached to the corresponding Velcro® hook and loop fastener strip 353 within pocket 309 of diaper 300, as shown by FIGS. 7-9.
For example, in FIG. 7, the strip 339 of the liquid absorbent pad is attached to the strip 353 within the pocket 309 after the liquid absorbent pad 306 has partially folded on itself along the stitching or folding line 347. The folding the liquid absorbent pad 306 along the fold line 347 reduces the functional length of the liquid absorbent pad 306. In FIG. 8, the strip 341 of the liquid absorbent pad is attached to the strip 353 within the pocket 309 after the liquid absorbent pad 306 has been partially folded back on itself along the stitching or folding line 349, which creates a greater degree of overlap than shown in FIG. 7. Accordingly, folding the liquid absorbent pad 306 along the fold line 349 further reduces the functional length of the liquid absorbent pad 306. In FIG. 9, the liquid absorbent pad 306 has not folded
ES 2 579 653 T3 and its strap 343 is attached to the strap 353 within the pocket 309. This longitudinal adjustability may allow the liquid absorbent pad 306 to fit more precisely along the crotch 314 of the diaper 300, for example, when the functional rise or crotch length of the diaper is changed by the series of loops along the front portion of the diaper 300. Alternative embodiments may include a liquid absorbent pad having more or fewer hook and loop fastener strips in other arrangements to longitudinally accommodate the adjustability of the liquid absorbent pad. Other embodiments may include a liquid absorbent pad having a wide range of other suitable fastening means or fastening systems, apart from Velcro® hook and loop fasteners such as stickers, buttons, snaps, loops, magnets, elastic straps, adjustable straps, combinations thereof, etc. Still other embodiments may include a liquid absorbent pad without any longitudinal adjustability.
Accordingly, the reusable diaper 300 can be put on a user with the liquid absorbent pad 306 positioned against the skin of the user. In which case, the liquid absorbent pad 306 can absorb moisture (eg, bodily discharges, urine, sweat, etc.). When the liquid absorbent pad 306 has become saturated, the liquid absorbent pad 306 can be removed and then hand or machine washed together with or separately from the diaper 300. After the diaper 300 and liquid absorbent pad 306 have been satisfactorily washed and dried, the liquid absorbent pad 306 can be reattached to the diaper 300 with an adjusted length, as described above, to more precisely fit the diaper. along the crotch 314 of the diaper 300. At this point, the diaper 300 can be reused.
The diaper 300 is illustrated with a three-by-three loop member matrix, such that the loop members are horizontally arranged and aligned in the three rows and vertically arranged and aligned in the three columns. Advantageously, having at least three columns can provide a more snug and precise fit to the diaper wearer, for example by reducing the extent to which the crotch portion hangs down below the wearer. The three-by-three arrangement can eliminate, or at least reduce, the bulging in the middle front of the diaper that typically occurs when there are only two columns of loops due to fabric bulging outward between the two loops. The three-by-three loop arrangement can make the diaper a fit diaper for all sizes.
In alternative embodiments, reusable diaper 300 may include more or fewer loop options and / or loop members in arrangements other than those shown in FIGS. 1-9. For example, another embodiment may include two rows of male clip members with only one row of female clip members. As another exemplary embodiment, a diaper may include a row having both male and female loop members. Additional examples include diapers having more or less than three rows of loop members and / or more or less than three columns of loop members. Still other embodiments may include a wide range of other suitable fastening system fastening means other than clips, such as adhesives, buttons, snaps, Velcro® hook and loop fasteners, magnets, elastic straps, adjustable straps, combinations of the themselves, etc.
In some embodiments, the reusable diaper 300 and interchangeable tabs 317 may be provided in a package or as a kit. In such embodiments, the package may include indicia (eg, graphic illustrations, instructions, etc.) that explain how the size of the reusable diaper 300 can be adjusted by interchanging the tabs. In still other embodiments, the tabs 317 may be provided separately from the reusable diaper 300.
FIG. 10 illustrates another exemplary embodiment of a corner tab 417 that embodies one or more aspects of the present disclosure. As shown in FIG. 10, the corner tab 417 includes opposing first and second end portions 419 and 421. The first end portion 419 includes two columns of separate female clip members 431. The second end portion 421 includes three columns of separate female clip members 433. These columns of female clip members 431 and 433 provide the corner tab 417 with different adjustment options so that the corner tab 417 can be releasably attached to a reusable diaper 400 (FIGS. 11 and 12) at different lengths. functional, depending on which of the clip columns are used.
For example, FIG. 11 illustrates reusable diaper 400 having the corner tab shown in FIG. 10. In this example, the corner tab 417 is releasably attached through the outermost columns of the clip members, which mate with the corresponding male clip members 423, 425 respectively, within the front and rear pockets. back 403, 405 of reusable diaper 400. This provides the corner tab 416 with the longest option of the functional length options provided by the clip member columns 431,433.
By way of comparison, FIG. 12 illustrates reusable diaper 400 with corner tab 417 releasably attached through the innermost columns of the corner tab of the clip members. In this example then, the corner tab 417 has the shortest option of the functional length options. This, in turn, also reduces the functional waist size of the diaper and the leg opening size compared to FIG. eleven.
ES 2 579 653 T3
As shown in FIGS. 11 and 12, the corner tab 417 includes a lower curved portion that defines part of the generally curved leg opening, so that it reduces the functional length of the corner tab 417 and also reduces the size of the leg opening. Also shown in FIG. 12, the upper and lower rows of loop members along the front portion of the diaper have to fit together, thereby further reducing the functional waist size of the diaper, the leg opening size and the lift. or inseam length compared to that shown in FIG. eleven. Accordingly, the corner tab 417 therefore allows adjustment and adaptation of the size of the diaper to the user, for example, to provide a relatively perfect fit around the waist and leg openings of the user (eg, baby, child, adult, etc.).
In addition to what is shown in FIGS. 11 and 12, the corner tab 417 may be releasably attached to the diaper 400 using other combinations of the clip member columns 431, 433. In this exemplary fashion, the waist size and the leg opening size of the diaper 400 thus can be adjusted without having to completely remove and exchange the corner tabs.
The pockets 403, 405 of the reusable diaper 400 may be substantially the same or similar to the pockets 303, 305 of the reusable diaper 300 described above. For example, pockets 404, 405 can also be configured to be substantially impervious to liquids, such that the location of end portions 419, 421 of corner tabs 417 therein helps to inhibit absorption of liquid through the pockets. pockets 403, 405 and into corner tabs 417. Pockets 403, 405 can be configured to be deeper, deep enough to allow end portions 419, 421 of corner tab 417 to be inserted further into respective pockets 403, 405, thereby allowing the pockets innermost columns of the loop members are inserted into the pockets 403, 405 to join the loop members 423, 425 within the pockets 403, 405.
In addition to, or as an alternative to, corner tabs that provide different attachment options, the pockets may include in addition to or additionally different attachment options. For example, pockets 403, 405 may include more than one column of loop members to thereby allow the functional length of corner tab 417 to be changed depending on which column of loop members within pockets 403, 405 used to secure corner tab 417.
In this illustrated embodiment of FIGS. 10-12, the clip members are plastic in this example. Alternatively, the loop members can be formed from other materials, which are preferably relatively light in weight and durable to withstand repeated wash cycles.
The first end portion 419 of the corner tab includes two columns of three separate female clip members 431, while the second end portion 421 includes two columns of four separate female clip members 433. Alternative embodiments may include corner tabs that include more or fewer snap options and / or loop members in other arrangements than that shown in FIG. 10. For example, another embodiment may include male clip members on the corner tab and female clip members within the diaper pockets. As another exemplary embodiment, the corner tab and pockets may each have both male and female loop members. Additional examples include corner tabs with more or fewer columns and / or rows of clip members than shown in FIG. 10. Still other embodiments may include a wide range of other suitable fastening methods or fastening systems other than fasteners, such as adhesives, buttons, snaps, Velcro® hook and loop fasteners, magnets, elastic straps, adjustable straps, combinations of the same, etc .. Still other embodiments may include one of the end portions of the corner tab fixedly attached within a pocket and / or a corner tab that is collapsible on itself to reduce the functional length of the corner tab.
The corner tab 417 can be resiliently stretched to allow some adjustability to the functional waist size of the reusable diaper, as defined by the first and second waist portions. In some embodiments, corner tab 417 can be formed from 95% polyester and 5% spandex, which allows corner tab 417 to stretch and maintain a flat profile when stretched or unstretched. Alternatively, the corner tab 417 can be formed using other suitable materials.
Other aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods, such as methods of using any one or more of the various reusable diapers (eg, 300, 400, etc.) disclosed herein. In an exemplary embodiment, a method generally includes removing at least one corner tab from a diaper and attaching at least one different corner tab that is longer or shorter than the removed corner tab. In another exemplary embodiment, a method generally includes selecting at least one corner tab from a plurality of different sized corner tabs and attaching the selected corner tab to a diaper. In another exemplary embodiment, a method generally includes changing a size of a diaper by separating at least one end portion of a corner tab and reattaching the end portion of the corner tab to the diaper, such that the functional length of the tab corner is different. Accordingly, these embodiments of the exemplary method therefore allow the size of the diaper to be changed or adapted to the intended diaper user (eg, baby, child, adult, etc.).
ES 2 579 653 T3
In another exemplary embodiment, a method generally includes placing at least one liquid-absorbing insert through at least one slit or opening in at least one pocket of a reusable diaper. The method may further include closing at least one flap to substantially cover the at least one slit or opening, whereby the at least flap inhibits contact between the diaper wearer and the at least one liquid absorbent insert and / or inhibits the inadvertent removal of the at least one liquid absorbent insert from the at least one pocket.
In some embodiments, the method may include opening the at least one flap to thereby expose the at least one slit or opening and allow access to the at least one pocket. The method may include removing at least one liquid absorbent insert from the at least one pocket through the at least one slit or opening. After the diaper is machine or hand washed, at least one replacement liquid absorbent insert may be placed through the at least one slit in the at least one pocket. As another example, one method may include removing a user's reusable diaper prior to opening the at least one flap, removing the at least one liquid absorbent insert, hand or machine washing the diaper and liquid absorbent insert, and placing the liquid absorbent insert inside pocket.
In some embodiments, a method may further comprise selectively adjusting a functional waist size of the reusable diaper to a user by stretching the corner regions of a first waist portion of the reusable diaper and then releasably attaching the tabs associated with the reusable diaper regions. corner to a second waist portion of the reusable diaper. In some preferred embodiments, the tabs can be releasably attached to the second waist portion using hook and loop fasteners. Additional embodiments, however, may alternatively comprise clips, buttons, stickers, magnets, combinations thereof, etc.
