DESCRIPTION
Hang tab and tab assembly product and method of use
The present description is directed to product display devices. In particular, the present description is directed to devices for suspending and displaying products in retention mechanisms, such as hooks for consumer display or inventory storage.
In the retail product market environment, products are often displayed for sale while mounted on hooks or rods. The product container or display component attached to the product has a hook or opening into which a generally horizontally arranged rod or hook engages. Multiple units of a product can be displayed on a single rod, depending on the length of the rod. Such arrangements are also useful for the storage and / or placement of items in other settings in addition to consumer display and sale such as, for example, high-density item storage (while allowing quick and easy recovery of each of the articles). For example, tools can be held by tool display racks and other product containers, such as those described in US-A-2006/0091091 and DE-A-4402285, where these product containers can be suspended hooks or rods.
The portion of the product or its container that hooks onto the rod or hook is typically referred to as a hang tab. In order to reduce the cost of a product to the consumer, it is convenient to minimize excess packaging as much as possible. For example, if the product is sold in bottle form, product identification information, product use information, product source information, and / or other indications may be printed on the bottle or on labels attached to the bottle. In this way, a box to contain the bottle can be considered as an excess of packaging, and will increase the final cost of the product. In such a case, however, the box may incorporate or have attached to it a hanging tab structure that facilitates the display for sale of that bottled product on a rod.

Detailed description
The present description is directed to an assembly of the hang tab and product label, wherein a first panel of the assembly is configured to serve as a hang tab, and one or more second panels of the assembly serve to secure the assembly. to a product (eg, a bottle or other shaped item), and one or more third panels of the array may serve as portions carrying information or indications. This combination allows the assembly and the attached product to be suspended from a retention mechanism (eg a platform hook in the retail market). The combination also reduces product packaging demands and provides advertising and / or information regarding a product, its use, or related products or promotions. As discussed below, the characteristics of elastic materials (and other joining techniques) can be used to conform the assembly to irregularly shaped products, and can be used in a wide variety of products.
Figures 1-3 illustrate one embodiment of the product tag and hangtag assembly of the present disclosure, referred to as assembly 10. As shown in Figure 1, assembly 10 is suspended from hook 12 (shown with dashed lines) and is attached around bottle 14, where bottle 14 includes a neck 16 and a cap 18. The assembly 10 includes a hang tab panel 20, an aperture panel 22, and a product label panel 24, wherein the aperture panel 22 interconnects the hang tab panel 20 and the panel. 24 of the product label, and provides an appropriate place to attach bottle 14 to assembly 10. The term "panel", referring to the hang tab panel 20, the opening panel 22, and the product label panel 24, is used herein to distinguish the different components of the assemblies of the present description, and it is not intended to limit components to particular geometries or functions. In other words, a "panel" is not limited to a sheet-like structure or any other particular shape, but can include three-dimensional features.
ES 2 552 792 T3
The hanger tab panel 20 includes an opening 26 for engagement with the hook 12 or any other appropriate retention mechanism, wherein the dimensions of the opening 26 may vary depending on the desired retention mechanism. Hang tab panel 20 can be made from one or more paper, polymeric, metallic, organic, and / or tissue materials. Suitable materials for the hangtag panel 20 include those mentioned for the label portions in US-A-7281345 and WO-A07 / 084119. For example, hang tab panel 20 can be made from one or more printable card materials, such as materials commercially available under the trade designation "TESLIN" from PPG Industries, Pitsburgh, PA. In one embodiment the hang tab panel 20 is formed at least in part from biodegradable, degradable, or recyclable materials.
In some embodiments the hanger tab panel 20 is substantially inextensible (ie, non-stretchable) and rigid to engage the hook 12 without deformation. Hanger tab panel 20 also includes front surface 28, which may include indications in a text (for example, indications 30), illustrative indications, and / or a presentation of the information visible or otherwise detectable (for example , tactile, that can be read by a machine, etc).
The aperture panel 22 includes an aperture 32, which is configured to retain products, such as bottle 14. The aperture panel 22 may be fabricated from one or more flexible elastomeric materials, such as one or more elastomeric materials. This allows the hanger tab panel 22 to protrude upward from the aperture panel 22 at an angle relative to the aperture panel 22 for engagement with the hook 12 or any other appropriate retention mechanism. The flexibility of the opening panel 22 also allows the product label panel 24 to hang down with respect to the product being displayed (for example, the bottle 14), and at an angle with respect to a panel 22 of the opening. The opening. Examples of suitable materials for the aperture panel 22 include those mentioned for the flexible elastic portions described in US-A-7281345 and WO-A-07/084119 (eg elastomeric materials). In one embodiment the aperture panel 22 is formed at least in part from biodegradable, degradable, or recyclable materials.
The dimensions (eg, the diameter) of the opening 32 conveniently allow the assembly 10 to be firmly retained to the corresponding product, such as the bottle 14. In one embodiment the dimensions of the opening 32 are less than the cross section area of the corresponding product, or is otherwise configured to deform or otherwise conform in response to the shape of the corresponding product for insertion or removal of the product. For example, the diameter of opening 32 is conveniently less than the cross-sectional area of neck 16 and cap 18 of bottle 14. As such, bottle 14 can be retained in assembly 10 by inserting cap 18 and cap. neck 16 through aperture 32 of aperture panel 22, thereby stretching the elastic material of aperture panel 22 from a relaxed state to a stretched state. When the neck 16 is disposed through the opening 32, the elastic material of the panel 22 of the opening, at least in the area adjacent to the opening 32, remains in the stretched state so that the opening 32 conforms to the dimensions neck 16. In this way, neck 16 is fixed within opening 32 due to frictional resistance and / or due to the larger dimensions of plug 18.
The assembly 10 is also conveniently removable from the product (eg, bottle 14), such as when the product has been sold or recalled. To remove assembly 10 from bottle 14, assembly 10 and bottle 14 can be pulled in opposite directions to overcome the resistance force of opening 32 around neck 16 and cap 18. In other words, assembly 10 can be removed from bottle 14 by pulling neck 16 and cap 18 out of opening 32.
In some embodiments the elastic material of the aperture panel 22 can be "tuned" to the weight and shape of the product to be retained therein. For example, the elastic material of the aperture panel 22 can be formed with increased stiffness for protection of the article against theft and the permanence of the assembly 10 in the product. This may reduce the ease of removal of the product assembly 10, or it may prevent the removal of the product assembly 10 without at least partial destruction of the assembly 10 or the product.
The aperture panel 22 also includes a front surface 34, which may include indications in a text (for example, the indications 36), illustrative indications, and / or a display of the information visible or otherwise detectable (for example , tactile, that can be read by a machine, etc). The aperture panel 22 can take a variety of shapes, as long as it serves to define the aperture 32 for hooking a product. For example, aperture panel 22 may, in some embodiments, be formed to achieve desired properties to expose product label panel 24 and / or indicia 36, such as to allow product label panel 24 product hangs straight with respect to the product, or to be more striking to a consumer / user hanging at an angle with respect to the product, sticking out of the product, or being easily moved relative to the product (such as even by a blast of air).
In other embodiments the opening panel 22 may be formed to allow itself and the product label panel 24 to conform to an irregularly shaped item, or to allow the opening panel 22 (once disposed around of a portion of the product) adopts a desired configuration (for example, the shape of
ES 2 552 792 T3 a particular loop, letter or number, traffic light or base ball glove), either alone or in combination with panel 24 of the product label and / or panel 22 of the opening. The aperture panel 22 may also be formed to have many apertures 32 to support a product (or a plurality of products) in a single assembly 10.
Product label panel 24 can be made from one or more paper, polymeric, metallic, organic, and / or tissue materials. Suitable materials for the product label panel 24 include those mentioned above for the hang tab panel 20. For example, in some embodiments, the product label panel 24 is substantially inextensible (ie, non-stretchable) and rigid. This allows printing on the front surface 38 to provide indications in a text (eg, indications 40), illustrative indications, and / or a presentation of the information visible or otherwise detectable (eg, tactile, which may be read by a machine, etc).
In one embodiment the product label panel 24 is formed at least in part from biodegradable, degradable, or recyclable materials. Accordingly, set 10 (any of the alternative sets discussed below) can aid in recycling. In embodiments where the hang tab panel 20, the opening panel 22, and the product label panel 24 are formed at least in part from recyclable materials, after use, the panel 22 The opening can be separated from the hang tab panel 20 and the product label panel 24 and recycled as separate materials.
In one embodiment a rear surface of the product label panel 24 (not shown in Figure 1) may be attached to the product (for example, by a pressure sensitive adhesive or some other appropriate bonding agent), such as bottle body 14. In this embodiment a layer of bonding material (eg, a pressure sensitive adhesive) may be disposed on one or more portions of the rear surface of the product label panel 24. Additionally, the rear surface of the product label panel 24 may also include a release liner disposed over the bonding material, wherein the release liner may be removed prior to affixing the assembly 10 to the product, such as the bottle 14.
As shown in Figure 1, the hanger panel 20 and the aperture panel 22 together perform support functions for the bottle 14 (of the hook 12). In this embodiment the panel 24 of the product label does not perform a supporting function, and is suitable for displaying information on the front surface 38 (eg, the indicia 40). During use, neck 16 and cap 18 of bottle 14 can be inserted through aperture 32 of aperture panel 22 to secure bottle 14 to assembly 10. Hanger tab panel 20 may then be mounted on hook 12 with opening 26 to suspend assembly 10 and bottle 14 from hook 12. While suspended from hook 12, the indicia or other information printed on one or more of the front surfaces 28, 34, and 38 (eg, indicia 30, 36, and 40) can then be prominently displayed. For example, the front surface 28 of the hang tab panel 20 and the front surface 38 of the product label panel 24 are appropriate for displaying information regarding the bottle 14, such as brand logos, product identifications. , price information, universal product codes, and the like. As such, assembly 10 is a convenient and effective system for holding and displaying products, such as bottle 14.
As shown in Figure 2, the aperture panel 22 is attached to a hang tab panel 20 at attachment area 42, and is attached to product label panel 24 at attachment area 44. In addition, the hangtack panel 20, the aperture panel 22, and the product label panel 24 are each illustrated as having rectangular geometries. In alternative embodiments one or more of the hang tab panel 20, the opening panel 22, and the product label panel 24 may be formed with any appropriate geometry, as long as their ends as explained above are retained. , and there is an appropriate overlap of the material in the respective bonding zones 42 and 44 to define appropriate and reliable bonds between them. Likewise the openings 26 and 32 may be formed in any desired shape as long as their intended functions are not compromised.
As shown in Figure 3, the hangtag panel 20 is attached together with the aperture panel 22 along the attachment zone 42. In other words, the hangtag panel 20 and the panel 22 of the aperture are joined so that the leaf character of one of the panels extends into the leaf character of the other panel, which gives a leaf-like character to the joined panels. The result is a unifying planar bond zone 42 at the joint junction of hangtag panel 20 and aperture panel 22.
Likewise, the product label panel 24 is joined together flat with the opening panel 22 along the joint zone 44. In other words, the product label panel 24 and the panel 22 of the apertures are joined so that the leaf character of one of the panels extends to the leaf character of the other panel, which gives a leaf-like character to the joined panels. The result is a unifying planar bond zone 44 at the junction of aperture panel 22 and product label panel 24.
As further shown in Figure 3, the hanger panel 20, the aperture panel 22, and the product label panel 24 respectively include rear surfaces 46, 48, and 50, which are the respective surfaces opposite the front surfaces 26, 34, and 38. In some embodiments, one or more of the
ES 2 552 792 T3 rear surfaces 46, 48, and 50 may include indications in a text, illustrative indications, and / or a display of visible or otherwise detectable information (e.g., tactile, which can be read by a machine, etc).
Prior to attachment to a product, such as a bottle 14 (shown in Figure 1), assembly 10 shows sheet-like dimensions in the sense that panel 20 of the hang tab, panel 22 of the opening , and the product label panel 24 are each of a flat character and are generally coplanar. In some embodiments, depending on the composition and thickness of the film, the aperture panel 22 may be draped and loose and thus not always flat out due to the elastic material (s).
As discussed above, in the embodiment shown, the hang tab panel 20 and the aperture panel 22 together perform a support functions for the bottle 14, and the product label panel 24 does not perform a function. of support. Accordingly, in some embodiments, the hang tab panel 20 may be manufactured from thicker and / or stiffer materials compared to the dimensions and materials of the product label panel 24. In addition, for the same reason, in some embodiments the bond area 42 between the hang tab panel 20 and the opening panel 22 may exhibit much greater bond strength (for example, by means of an area of much larger bond area) compared to bond strength of bond zone 44 between aperture panel 22 and product label panel 24.
Figure 3A illustrates sheet 10a, which is a fabricated sheet that includes multiple assemblies 10. Assembly 10 can be fabricated using a variety of different techniques. Examples of appropriate techniques for manufacturing assembly 10 include those discussed in US-A-7281345 and WO-A-07/084119. For example, as shown in Figure 3A, a sheet of multiple sets 10 (e.g., sheet 10a) can be manufactured using a continuous mesh-based process, where adjacent sets 10 can be separable. with lines 51 of notches or perforations.
In this embodiment a strip of material from the tongue of the panels 20 of the hang-up tab (referred to a strip 20a of the hang-up tab) and a strip of material from the tongue of the panels 24 of the product label (referred to as a product label strip 24a) can advance in the direction of arrow A, and can be aligned with an elastic material advance strip of the opening panels 22 (referred to as an intermediate strip 22a). Strips 20a, 22a, and 24a can then be joined together at areas 42a and 44a of the bonding zone that correspond to bonding zones 42 and 44 of each set 10. Strips 20a, 22a, and 24a can be bonded together using a variety of different bonding techniques, such as thermal bonding, adhesive bonding, ultrasonic bonding, and the like. Examples of suitable bonding techniques are described in US-A-7763135.
In some embodiments, the hanger tab strip 20a and / or the product label strip 24a may have directions or other information already applied prior to the bonding step. Alternatively, after bonding of strips 20a, 22a, and 24a, indicia or other information may be printed on one or more of strips 20a, 22a, and 24a. Since the hang tab strip 20a and the product label strip 24a are provided as separate strips, proper alignment and registration of the hang tab strip 20a and the product label strip 24a is desirable to reduce the risk of printing errors. The lines 51 of notches or perforations can then be formed in the advancing sheet 10a to define the separable assemblies 10, and the apertures 26 and 32 can be cut out of the advancing sheet of each assembly 10. Similarly, another may be made. shaping or processing of bonded strips 20a, 22a, and 24a. After the manufacturing process is complete, the individual assemblies 10 can be separated for individual use, or kept in sheet or roll form for bulk transportation and subsequent use.
Figures 4-32 illustrate examples of suitable alternative hang-tab and product label assemblies of the present disclosure, where indications corresponding to indicia 30, 36, and 40 are omitted for ease of reference. discussion. As discussed below, the characteristics of each alternative set may be interchangeable with any of the sets discussed here, provided that their intended functions are not compromised.
In addition, each of the previously discussed assemblies can be manufactured by using processes similar to those discussed above for sheet 10a (shown in Figure 3A), where the particular differences in the manufacturing process of a given alternative assembly listed below. For example, in some embodiments the hang tab strips and / or product label strips may have indicia or other information already applied prior to the bonding step. Alternatively, after the strips are attached, indicia or other information may be printed on one or more of the strips. In some of the embodiments the hang tab strips and product label strips are provided as separate strips. In these embodiments proper alignment and registration of the hang tag strip, aperture strips, and / or product tag strips are desired to reduce the risk of misprints.
In each of the assemblies discussed above, the panels are conveniently joined such that the leaf character of at least a part of one of the panels extends into the leaf character of at least a portion of the panel.
ES 2 552 792 T3 another panel, which gives a sheet-like character to the joined panels, at least contiguous to their respective joining areas. This conveniently results in unifying planar bond areas in the bonding of adjoining panels, as discussed above for assembly 10 (shown in Figures 1-3A). As such, prior to attachment to the products, each alternate assembly conveniently exhibits sheet-like dimensions in the sense that the panels (at least where they are joined together) are each flat in character and are generally coplanar. In some embodiments, depending on the compositions and thicknesses of the films, the panels obtained from elastic materials can be draped and loose and thus not always exposed flat due to the elastic materials.
Figure 4 is a side elevational view of assembly 110, which is a first alternative to assembly 10 (shown in Figures 1-3A), and wherein the respective reference labels are incremented by "100". In the embodiment shown in Figure 4, assembly 110 includes product label panel 124 having a collapsible label design. Product label panel 124 is formed from a folded panel assembly having a front panel 152 (defining front surface 138) and a rear panel 154 (defining rear surface 150), wherein the panel Front 152 and rear panel 154 are connected together along a lateral hinge line 156. Front panel 152 and rear panel 154 may be formed from the same panel material sheet, which is folded over a hinge line 156.
As illustrated in Figure 4, the joint area 144 between the aperture panel 122 and the product label panel 124 engages a portion of the rear panel 154, as well as the hinge line 156. An example of a suitable arrangement of bonding zone 144 includes the label of the elastomeric bonding arrangement described in US-A-7836622. Thus, product label panel 124 includes more panel faces compared to product label panel 24 (shown in Figures 1-3A). This provides additional space for advertising, information, and / or other indications of the product to be displayed by the assembly 110 regarding the product in which it can be mounted (e.g., bottle 14, shown in Figure 1), and / or for the purpose of a promotion related to products and / or services.
The product label panel 124 is illustrated as a double-fold label as having two panels (ie, a front panel 152 and a rear panel 154). In alternative embodiments, the product label panel 124 may be a triple-fold label that has two folds and therefore three panels. In further alternative embodiments the label panel may have four or more additional pleats and panels, as desired.
Figures 5-7 illustrate assembly 210, which is a second alternative to assembly 10 (shown in Figures 1-3A), and wherein the respective reference labels are increased by "200" with respect to Figures 1- 3. As shown in Figure 5, assembly 210 includes hangtag panel 220 and aperture panel 222, which are integrally fabricated from one or more elastic materials. Accordingly, in this embodiment the hang tab panel 220 is also made from one or more elastic materials. Examples of suitable materials for the hang tab panel 220 and the aperture panel 222 include those discussed above for the aperture panel 22 (shown in Figures 1-3A).
The elastic material defining the hang tab panel 220 and the opening panel 222 includes openings 226 and 232, which respectively function in the same way as openings 26 and 32 (shown in Figures 1-3A). to suspend bottle 214 from hook 212. During use, neck 216 and cap 218 of bottle 214 can be inserted through aperture 232 of panel 222 of the aperture to secure bottle 214 to assembly 210. Hanger tab panel 228 can then be mounted to hook 212 with opening 226 to suspend assembly 210 and bottle 214 from hook 212. While suspended from hook 212, the indications or other information printed on one or more Front surfaces 228, 234, and 238 can be prominently displayed. For example, the front surface 238 of the product label panel 224 is suitable for displaying information regarding the bottle 214.
As shown in Figures 6 and 7, assembly 210 includes a single joint zone 244, wherein the joint zone corresponding to joint zone 40 (shown in Figures 2 and 3) is omitted. In this embodiment the elastic material in hangtag panel 220 can be stiffened and / or hangtag panel 220 can display a greater film thickness to allow hangtag panel 220 to function as a hanging tab without undue deformation.
As discussed above, assembly 210 can be manufactured using a process similar to that discussed above for assembly 10 and sheet 10a (shown in Figure 3A). However, in this embodiment a single strip of label material from product label panels 224 may be aligned with and attached to a strip of elastic material from hang tab panels 220 / opening panels 222. .
Figures 8-10 illustrate assembly 310, which is a third alternative to assembly 10 (shown in Figures 13A), and wherein the respective reference labels are increased by "300" relative to Figures 1-3. As shown in Figure 8, assembly 310 includes product label panel 320, aperture panel 322, and product panel 324, wherein aperture panel 322 includes margin 358 and zone elastic 360.
ES 2 552 792 T3
Functionally, the hang tab panel 320 and the product label panel 324 can provide the same benefits as the hang tab panels and product label panels described above. However, in this embodiment a single sheet of tab / tag material defines hangtag panel 320, aperture panel 322 margin 358, product tag panel 324. Accordingly, the hang tab panel 320, the aperture panel 358 margin 358, and the product label panel 324 can be manufactured from one or more materials of paper, polymeric, metallic, organic, and / or fabric. Appropriate materials for the hang-up panel 320, the aperture panel 358 margin 358, the aperture panel 358, and the product label panel 324 include those discussed above for the hang-tab panel 20 ( shown in Figures 1-3A).
The margin 358 extends around and is attached to the elastic zone 360, wherein the elastic zone 360 is fabricated from one or more elastic materials and includes the opening 332. Appropriate materials for the elastic zone 360 include those discussed above. for aperture panel 22 (shown in Figures 1-3A). Accordingly, elastic zone 360 is visible through hole 361, where hole 361 is the hole defined by margin 358.
In the embodiment shown in Figures 9 and 10 elastic zone 360 extends through hole 361 to be generally coextensive with top end 362 and bottom end 364 of aperture panel 322. Terms designating orientation, such as "top," "bottom," "top," "bottom," and the like are used herein for ease of discussion, and are not intended to limit the sets herein. description to any particular orientations of the set or use.
The hole 361 is larger than the dimensions of the opening 332, and the opening 332 is spaced from the inner edges of the margin 358. In this way, the elastic material of the elastic zone 360 is fully disposed around all sides of the opening. 332 before elastic zone 360 engages margin 358. In areas where elastic zone 360 engages margin 358, elastic zone 360 and margin 358 can be joined together along a bond zone. In one embodiment, the bonding zone is coextensive with margin 358 of panel 322 of the opening, and thus generally rectangular.
The assembly 310 can be mounted on a product, such as a bottle 314 (shown in Figure 8), by using an opening 322 in the manner discussed above for the assembly 10. The tab / label material can be with notches, creased, or otherwise formed (eg, at the end of the top 362) to allow flexing of the hang tab panel 320 relative to the aperture panel 322. Similarly, the tab / tag material may be notched, wrinkled, or otherwise formed (eg, at the bottom end 364) to allow flexing of the tag panel 324 relative to the panel. 322 of the aperture.
Since the amount of tab / label material is reduced in the opening panel 322, the tab / label material in the margin 358 may be flexible enough to allow flexing of the opening panel 322 to allow the hang tab panel 320 and product label panel 324 be aligned at angles relative to opening panel 322, such as to form an assembly arrangement as discussed above for assembly 10. Alternatively, the tab / tag material may include additional notched or wrinkled lines or be otherwise formed to allow rapid flexing along the lateral sides of the margin 358, which makes the aperture panel 322 more flexible to accommodate its desired mounting configuration on a product, such as a bottle 314.
Assembly 310 can be manufactured using a process similar to that discussed above for assembly 10 and sheet 10a (shown in Figure 3A). However, assembly 310 allows hangtag panel 320 and product label panel 324 to be formed from the same tab / label material sheet. This is advantageous for applying prints or other indications to the hangtag panel 322 and the product label panel 324, as these panels will always be joined together with the margin 358 for alignment and matching purposes. As discussed above, such a match is conveniently maintained when multiple panels are being brought together into a single hang tab and product label assembly, such as assemblies 10 and 110, particularly when multiple assemblies are formed in series or strip-shaped, as discussed above (eg, sheet 10a, shown in Figure 3A). Additionally, the inclusion of tab / tag material in margin 358, along with elastic zone 360, may be desired in some applications to add rigidity to assembly 310.
Figures 11-13 illustrate assembly 410, which is a fourth alternative to assembly 10 (shown in Figures 1-3A), and wherein the respective reference labels are increased by "400" with respect to Figures 1- 3. As shown in Figure 11, assembly 410 includes a hang tab panel 420, an opening panel 422, and a product label panel 424, which can function in the same manner as hang tab, opening panel 22, and product label panel 24 (shown in Figures 1-3A).
The assembly 410 also includes a lower opening panel 466 attached to the opposite end of the product label panel 424 from the opening panel 422. Appropriate Materials for Aperture Panel 466
ES 2 552 792 T3 include those discussed above for the opening panel 22, where the lower opening panel 446 includes the opening 468. Accordingly, the lower opening panel 446 provides a second location for attaching the assembly. 410 to a product, such as bottle 414.
This second attachment site serves the function of more securely attaching assembly 410 to a product, and also to align product label panel 424 generally vertical (or in some other desired orientation) relative to the product, as is. defined by the properties of aperture panel 422 and bottom aperture panel 466, and the respective positions of apertures 432 and 468. Bottom aperture panel 366 may also include textual prompts, illustrative prompts, and / or an otherwise detectable (eg, tactile, machine-readable, etc) information display.
In use, the neck 416 and cap 418 of the bottle 414 can be inserted through the opening 432 of the opening panel 422, and the body of the bottle 414 can be inserted through the opening 468 of the elastic panel. 466, which thereby secures bottle 414 to assembly 410. Hanger tab panel 428 can then be mounted to hook 412 with opening 426 to suspend assembly 410 and bottle 414 from hook 412. While suspended from hook 412, indicia or other information printed on one or more of front surfaces 428, 434, and 438 can then be prominently displayed. For example, the front surface 428 of the hang tab panel 420 and the front surface 438 of the product label panel 424 are appropriate for displaying information regarding the bottle 414. As such, assembly 410 is also a convenient and effective system for holding and displaying products, such as bottle 414.
As shown in Figure 12, the product label panel 424 and the elastic panel 466 are attached together along the joint zone 470. Additionally, the dimensions of the opening 468 may vary based on the dimensions of the products in question to be fixed. For example, in the embodiment shown, opening 468 has a diameter that is greater than the diameter of opening 432 to compensate for differences in diameters between bottle body 414 and neck 416.
Assembly 410 can also be manufactured using a process similar to that discussed above for assembly 10 and sheet 10a (shown in Figure 3A). In this embodiment, however, an additional strip of elastic material for opening panels 466 may be aligned with, and attached to, the strip of tab material for product label panels 424, thereby they form joint zone 470 for each set 410.
As discussed above, in alternate embodiments, the use of a bottom opening panel 466 with opening 468 can be combined with any of the alternative features discussed herein, as long as its intended functions are not compromised. For example, the use of the bottom opening panel 466 with the opening 468 can be combined with the folding label design of assembly 110 (shown in Figure 4), with the extended elastic material design of assembly 210 (shown in Figures 5-7), and with the elastic margin / zone design of assembly 310 (shown in Figures 8-10). The combination of the elastic margin / zone design of the assembly 310 is particularly suitable for use with the elastic panel 466 with the opening 468, thereby providing the assembly 310 with an additional mechanism for being attached to a product.
Figures 14-17 illustrate set 510, which is a fifth alternative to set 10 (shown in Figures 1-3A), and where the respective reference labels are increased by "500" with respect to Figures 1- 3. As shown in Figure 14, the assembly 510 includes a hang tab panel 520, an opening panel 522, a product label panel 524, and a bottom opening panel 566, which can function in the same way as dock tab panel 420, opening panel 422, product label panel 424, and bottom opening panel 466 (shown in Figures 11-13).
In this embodiment the product label panel 524 also includes a holder 572, which is a folding sheet that includes the front portion 574, the center portion 576, and the rear portion 578. As shown, the ends of the The upper portion of the front portion 574 and the rear portion 578 of the bracket 572 are attached together adjacent to the aperture panel 522, and their bottom ends are offset from each other by the central portion 576. As discussed below, holder 572 is suitable for holding items, such as product samples and the like, thereby allowing such items to be retained with the products attached to assembly 510 (eg, bottle 514). .
As shown in Figure 15, prior to use with bottle 514 (shown in Figure 14), front portion 574, center portion 576, and rear portion 578 of bracket 572 can be extended in a flat, unfolded arrangement. . As shown below, the rear portion 578 of the bracket 572 is attached to the product label panel 524 at the lateral hinge line 580. The junction 544 between the opening panel 522 and the product label / holder 572 panel 524 engages a portion of the product label panel 524, as well as the hinge line 580, in the same manner as the discussed above for assembly 110 (shown in Figure 4). As such, bracket 572 and product label panel 524 can be formed from the same sheet of panel material, which is folded over hinge line 580 in the same manner as discussed above for the assembly. 110.
ES 2 552 792 T3
In Figure 16 the bracket 572 is shown in a partially folded arrangement. Front portion 574 and center portion 576 are collapsible along crease or crease line 582a, and center portion 576 and rear portion 578 are collapsible along crease or crease line 582b. Bracket 572 also includes longitudinal grooves running through it perpendicular to fold lines 582a and 582b that define flap 584. As shown, when support 572 is folded, flap 584 may extend outward to receive a sample of the product (eg, sample 586).
As shown below, the rear portion 578 includes a strip 588 of adhesive, which is a strip of one or more adhesive materials (eg, one or more pressure sensitive adhesives). When bracket 572 is folded in the arrangement shown in Figure 14, front portion 574 can engage adhesive strip 588, thereby retaining bracket 572 in that folded arrangement. This folded arrangement also allows flap 584 to be formed for use in retaining product samples, such as sample 586. In an alternative embodiment a band of adhesive may be retained on front portion 574 in place of, or in addition to , band 588 of adhesive.
Figure 17 illustrates a sample retention arrangement for bracket 572, referred to as bracket 572a, which includes outer flaps 584a and 584b, and inner flap 584c. Flaps 584a-584c are defined by slots 590, which are longitudinal slots that extend normal to fold lines 582a and 582b. In the illustrated embodiment, each slot 590 has a lower end on fold line 582a. The inner pair of grooves 590 have upper ends that extend past fold line 582b, are of the same length, and may have a crease or fold line 592a extending between them at the upper ends. The pair of outer grooves 590 also have ends that extend past the fold line 582b, are of the same length (longer in this embodiment than the pair of inner grooves 590), and may have a crease or fold line. 592b that runs between them at the ends of the top.
When bracket 572a is folded in the arrangement shown in Figure 14, front portion 574 can engage adhesive strip 588, thereby retaining bracket 572a in that folded arrangement. This folded arrangement also allows flaps 586a-586c to be formed for use in retaining a sample of the product (not shown). In particular, the outer flaps 586a and 586b can extend around one side of the product sample, while the flap 586c can extend around the opposite side of the product sample.
As is apparent from the exemplary embodiments illustrated in Figures 14-17, the product label panel (eg, product label panel 524 and holder 572) can take various forms with the in order to carry information, hold sample products, and the like. The product label panel can be a single flat sheet (as illustrated in sets 10, 210, 310, and 410) or it can be a folded sheet (such as illustrated in sets 110 and 510).
In addition, the product label panel 524 may have a removable section on it. Such detachable section may be removed from set 510 by perforations to serve as an instant coupon for product sales, as a coupon for future product purchases, a mail-in product warranty registration card, or some other purpose when it is desired to separate information of the assembly 510 and / or the product to which it is attached. In addition, other items may be attached to the product label panel 524, such as, for example, a product instruction booklet, a product dispenser, or the like. Such items can be attached by an adhesive or other known bonding or bonding scheme.
Figures 18-20 illustrate set 610, which is a sixth alternative to set 10 (shown in Figures 1-3A), and where the respective reference labels are increased by "600" with respect to Figures 1- 3. As shown in Figure 18, assembly 610 includes a hang tab panel 620, opening panel 622, product label panel 624, and bottom opening panel 666. In this embodiment, the hangtag panel 620 and the product label panel 624 are integrally formed from the same label / tab material sheet, which is folded over a hinge line 693 in a similar manner. to that discussed above for assembly 110 (shown in Figure 4).
In addition, the aperture panel 622 extends contiguous to the rear surface 646 of the hang tab panel 620 and the rear surface 650 of the product label panel 624. As such, the opening 632 of the opening panel 622 and the opening 668 of the bottom opening panel 666 can be used to retain a product, such as a screwdriver 694 (shown in dashed lines). In this embodiment the openings 632 and 668 may also have different dimensions to suit the dimensions of the products in question. For example, as shown, opening 632 has a larger diameter than opening 668 so that opening 632 can retain the handle portion of screwdriver 694 and opening 668 can retain the smaller diameter head portion of screwdriver 694 .
During use, the opening panel 622 and the bottom opening panel 666 can be flexed downward, as represented by arrows 695a and 695b, and the 694 screwdriver can be inserted through the 632 and 694 screwdriver openings. 694 to assembly 610. Hanger tab panel 620 can then be
ES 2 552 792 T3 opened (i.e., unfolded) from the product label panel 624, as represented by arrow 695c, where the front surface 628 of the hang tab panel 620 and the front surface 638 of the Product label panel 638 provides appropriate places to display directions or other information.
Hanger tab panel 620 can then be mounted to hook 612 with opening 626 to suspend assembly 610 and screwdriver 694 from hook 612. While suspended from hook 612, indications or other information printed on one or more of the front surfaces 628 and 638 can then be prominently displayed. For example, front surfaces 628 and 638 are appropriate for displaying information related to the screwdriver 694, such as brand logos, product identifications, price information, universal product codes, and the like. As such, the assembly 610 is a convenient and effective system for retaining and exposing products, such as the screwdriver 694.
As shown in Figures 19 and 20, the joint zone 642 between the opening panel 622 and the product label panel 624 engages a portion of the product label panel 624, as well as the hinge line 693 , in the same manner discussed above for assembly 110 (shown in Figure 4). However, in this embodiment, the joint zone corresponding to joint zone 42 (shown in Figures 2 and 3) has been omitted, since the opposite end of the opening panel 622 is not connected to the panel 620 of the opening. hanging tab.
Assembly 610 can be manufactured using a process similar to that discussed above for assembly 10 and sheet 10a (shown in Figure 3A). However, in this embodiment a strip of the tab / tag material from the hang tab / folding product tag panels 620 panels 624 can be aligned with the advancing strips of the stretch materials from the panels 622 of the opening and panels 666 of the lower opening. The advancing strips can then be bonded together (eg, thermally bonded) at areas of the bond zone that correspond to bond zones 642 and 670 of each set 610.
Furthermore, because the hangtag panel 620 and the product label panel 624 are provided as a single folding sheet, indications or other information can be pre-printed on the single folding sheet prior to the bonding step. Alternatively, after the bonding step, indicia or other information may be printed on one or more of the surfaces of the hang tab panel 620 and product label panel 624, if desired. Notch or perforation lines can then be formed in the advancing sheet to define separable assemblies 610, and apertures 626, 632, and 668 can be cut out of the advancing sheet of each assembly 610. After the process manufacturing is complete, the individual assemblies 610 may be separated for individual use, or maintained in sheet or roll form for bulk transportation and subsequent use.
Figure 21 illustrates set 710, which is a seventh alternative to set 10 (shown in Figures 13A), and wherein the respective reference labels have been increased by "700" with respect to Figures 1-
3. As shown in Figure 21, assembly 710 includes an opening panel 722 having shoulders 796 defined by indentations 797 in the neck around opening 732. Examples of Appropriate provisions for shoulders 796 and indentations 797.
Figure 22 illustrates set 810, which is an eighth alternative to set 10 (shown in Figures 1-3A), and wherein the respective reference labels have been increased by "800" with respect to Figures 1-3. . As shown in Figure 22, the assembly 810 is similar to the assembly 710 (shown in Figure 21), and further includes the bottom opening panel 866 having the opening 868. Stretch panel 866 and opening 868 may function in the same manner discussed above for stretch panel 466 and opening 468 (shown in Figures 11-13) to provide an additional locking mechanism.
Figures 23 and 24 illustrate assembly 910, which is a ninth alternative to assembly 10 (shown in Figures 1-3A), and where the respective reference labels have been increased by "900" with respect to Figures 1 -3. In this embodiment aperture panel 910 includes shoulders 996 defined by indentations 997 in the neck around aperture 932, as discussed above for assemblies 710 and 810 (shown in Figures 21 and 22). However, compared to assemblies 710 and 810, aperture panel 922 compositionally includes one or more heat-sensitive materials that shrink when exposed to heat above a specified temperature. Such materials are sometimes commonly referred to as "shrink wrap" or "shrink film" materials.
Suitable heat-sensitive materials for use in aperture panel 922 include polymeric materials (eg, polyolefins) that contract closely on covered articles when heated. The appropriate heat-sensitive material can be composed to contract in one direction (unidirectional or monodirectional) or in both directions (bidirectional). During the formation of a film of heat-sensitive material, the heat-sensitive material can be stretched while heating to orient the molecules from their initial random pattern. Cooling the film fixes the characteristics of the film until it is reheated, which causes the film to shrink back to its initial dimensions.
ES 2 552 792 T3
The heat sensitive material of the aperture panel 922 is conveniently flexible enough to be inserted over a product to which the assembly 910 is to be attached. However, compared to the resilient materials of the aperture panels discussed above, which conveniently have dimensions that are smaller than the dimensions of the intended products, due to the shrinkable nature of the heat-sensitive material, the aperture 932 may have some dimensions that are greater than the dimensions of the intended product. This allows the product to be quickly inserted through opening 932. Once the product has been inserted into an opening 932, heat can be applied to the panel 922 of the opening (at least in a central portion of it that includes the opening 932, which includes and / or between the indentations 997 of the neck ) to a temperature necessary to cause contraction of the central portion. This secures the 910 assembly to the product.
The shape of the aperture panel 922 may depend on the heat sensitive material used, as well as the product to which it is to be applied. For example, a narrower loop, longer or wider collars, broader shoulders, or some other configuration (eg, even rectangular, such as panel 22, shown in Figures 1 and 2) may be appropriate, depending on the characteristics. desired ends of assembly 910 relative to the product to which assembly 910 is to be attached.
The provision of indentations 797 in the neck may also facilitate sufficient separation of the heated central portion of panel 922 from the opening of joint zones 942 and 944. Such physical separation may be desirable, so that the integrity of the joint zones Bonding 942 and 944 is conveniently not compromised by heating the aperture panel 922 as it is "shrink bonded" and attached to a product.
In one embodiment aperture panel 966 may compositionally include one or more resilient materials to function in the same manner as discussed above for lower aperture panel 446 (shown in Figures 11-13). In the alternate embodiment aperture panel 966 may compositionally include one or more heat sensitive materials to function in a manner similar to that discussed above for aperture panel 922.
Although the opening panel 922 may be subject to some deformation when heat is applied to it, it can also be used to hold indications on the front surface 934. During use, a product can be inserted through the openings 932 and 968. One or both of the aperture panel 922 and aperture panel 966 may then be subjected to heat to contract the attached aperture panel 992 and / or the bottom aperture panel 966 around the product. Hanger tab panel 928 can then be mounted to a retention mechanism with opening 926 to suspend assembly 910 and the product from the retention mechanism. While suspended from the retention mechanism, indicia or other information printed on one or more front surfaces 928, 934, and 938 can then be prominently displayed. For example, the front surface 928 of the hang tab panel 920 and the front surface 938 of the product label panel 924 are suitable for displaying product-related information such as brand logos, product identifications, information price, universal product codes, and the like. As such, the assembly 910 is a convenient and effective system for holding and displaying products.
Figures 25 and 26 illustrate set 1010, which is a tenth alternative to set 10 (shown in Figures 1-3A), and wherein the respective reference labels have been increased by "1000" with respect to Figures 1 -3. Assembly 1010 is similar to assembly 910 (shown in Figures 23 and 24), and includes aperture panel 1022 and bottom aperture panel 1066, one or both of which compositionally include a heat sensitive material.
Assembly 1010 also includes spring bridging panels 1098a and 1098b, located at opposite ends of aperture panel 1022. Suitable materials for resilient bridge panels 1098a and 1098b include those discussed above for aperture panel 22 (shown in Figures 1-3A). As shown, elastic bridge panel 1098a interconnects hangtag panel 1020 and aperture panel 1022 with joint zones 1042a and 1042b respectively. Similarly, elastic bridge panel 1098b interconnects aperture panel 1022 and product label panel 1024 with junction zones 1044a and 1044b respectively. In an alternate embodiment, which is appropriate when the aperture panel 1066 compositionally includes a heat sensitive material, an elastic bridge feature (not shown) may interconnect the product label panel 1024 and the bottom aperture panel 1066.
The addition of elastic bridge panels 1098a and 1098b is appropriate to further isolate the hangtag panel 1020 and the product label panel 1024 from the deformation that occurs upon heating of the opening panel 1022. The elastic bridge panels 1098a and 1098b may also further provide flexible and elastic bridges or connections between the opening panel 1022, the hang tab panel 1020 and the product label panel 1024.
Figures 27-32 illustrate additional alternative embodiments in which the assemblies are folded end to end during use to suspend and expose products from the retention mechanisms. Figures 27-29 illustrate assembly 1110, which is an eleventh alternative to assembly 10 (shown in Figures 1-3A), and where the respective reference labels have been increased by "1100" with respect to Figures 1 -3. As shown in Figure 27, in this embodiment the hang tab panel 1120 and the panel 1124
ES 2 552 792 T3 of the product label include openings for engagement with the hook 1112 or other retention mechanism. In particular, the product label panel 1124 also includes the opening 1300.
During use, portions of a product (eg, neck 1116 and cap 1118 of bottle 1114) may be inserted through aperture 1132 of aperture panel 1122 to secure bottle 1114 to assembly 1110. Assembly 1110 can then be folded so that opposite ends of hangtag panel 1120 and product label panel 1124 contact each other. In one embodiment panel 1122 flexes (as illustrated in Figure 27) to accommodate such folding. In this situation openings 1126 and 1300 are conveniently aligned to allow assembly 1110 to be mounted on hook 1112, thereby suspending assembly 1110 and bottle 1114 from hook 1112.
While suspended from hook 1112, indicia or other printed information may be prominently displayed on one or more of the front and rear surfaces of assembly 1110. For example, the rear surface 1146 of the hang tab panel 1120 and the rear surface 1150 of the product label panel 1124 are appropriate for displaying information relating to the bottle 1114, such as brand logos, product identifications, price information, universal product codes, and the like.
As shown in Figures 28 and 29, the hang tab panel 1120 includes a band 1302 of adhesive, which is a band of one or more adhesive materials (eg, one or more pressure sensitive adhesives). When assembly 1110 is folded in the arrangement shown in Figure 27, a portion of product label panel 1124 may engage adhesive strip 1302, thereby retaining assembly 1110 in the folded arrangement shown in Figure 27 . In an alternative embodiment a band of adhesive may be retained on the product label panel 1124 in place of, or in addition to, the band 1302 of adhesive.
Figures 30-32 illustrate set 1210, which is the twelfth alternative of set 10 (shown in Figures 1-3A), and where the respective reference labels have been increased by "1200" with respect to Figures 1 -3. As shown in Figure 30, in this embodiment the hangtag panel 1220 and the product label panel 1224 include openings for engagement with the hook 1212 or other retention mechanism. In particular, the product label panel 1224 also includes the opening 1404.
In addition, the hang tab panel 1220 and the product label panel 1224 may be formed from the same sheet of panel material, which is folded at hinge line 1406. Additionally, aperture panel 1222 is attached to the opposite end of panel 1220 from the hang tab of hinge line 1406. Assembly 1210 also includes a lower aperture panel 1266, which may function in a similar manner to aperture panel 466 (shown in Figures 11-13).
In use, assembly 1210 can be folded along hinge line 1406 so that openings 1226 and 1404 are generally aligned. Portions of a product (eg, neck 1216 and cap 1218 of bottle 1214) can then be inserted through aperture 1268 of panel 1266 of the bottom aperture and aperture 1232 of panel 1222 of the aperture to secure bottle 1214 to set 1210. Retention of the dual opening further secures bottle 1214 to assembly 1210, while also maintaining assembly 1210 in the folded arrangement shown in Figure 30.
The general alignment of openings 1226 and 1404 allows assembly 1210 to be mounted on hook 1212, thereby suspending assembly 1210 and bottle 1214 from hook 1212. While suspended from hook 1212, it can then be exposed in such a way. prominent markings or other information printed on one or more of the front and rear surfaces of the 1210 assembly. For example, the rear surface 1246 of the hang tab panel 1220 and the rear surface 1250 of the product label panel 1224 are appropriate for displaying information regarding the bottle 1214, such as brand logos, product identifications, price information, universal product codes, and the like.
As shown in Figures 31 and 32, the hangtag panel 1220 is attached to the aperture panel 1222 along the attachment zone 1242, and the product label panel 1224 is attached to a panel. 1266 from the bottom opening along zone 1270. Accordingly, in this embodiment the relative locations of hangtag panel 1220 and aperture panel 1222 avoid the need for a corresponding bond zone of bond zone 44 (shown in Figures 2 and 3). In alternative embodiments one or both of the hang tab panel 1220 and the product label panel 1224 may include a band of one or more adhesive materials (eg, one or more pressure sensitive adhesives) or other mechanical forms. latch to aid in maintaining the 1210 assembly in the folded arrangement shown in Figure 30.
The hang tab and product tag assemblies described herein are elegant and simple arrangements to provide additional product promotion and / or point of sale information material. Each assembly further provides the product with an appropriate hanging tab to allow the product to be hung from a hook for display and easy removal by a consumer or user.
