A disposable absorbent article (20) to be worn around the lower torso of a wearer that includes an easy, intuitive change by aligning the article during donning relative to an anatomical feature of the wearer or relative to a component of the article, including the absorbent article disposable one body-facing surface and one garment-facing surface; a first waist region (36) with a first trailing edge (10), a second waist region (38) with a second trailing edge (12), and a crotch region (37) located therebetween; a longitudinal axis and a transverse axis (100, 110); and a pair of opposing longitudinal lateral edges (14) joining the first terminal edge and the second terminal edge; a backsheet having a body-facing surface and a garment-facing surface, and a core disposed on the body-facing surface of the backsheet; the disposable absorbent article comprising internally visible useful indicia (80) observable on a portion of the article's body-facing surface and located proximate said longitudinal side edges (14) and proximate said first and second terminal edges (10, 12) to provide a contoured design distinguishing the first waist region (36) from the second waist region (38).
