DESCRIPTION
Chip card.
The invention relates to a chip card and its possibilities of use.
In the current state of the art, chip cards are also known by the name of Smart-Cards or memo cards. Other known forms of card making are the magnetic stripe card, the hologram card and the laoser card. Therefore, in the current state of the art, memory cards are still known, which are only composed of memory elements with non-volatile memory, but do not have any built-in intelligence. ("Chip Cards (Memocards) and telecommunications"; George J. Lissandrello; Pacific Telecommunications Council; Honolulu, USA, 1986; pages 166-175). Unlike these three types of cards, the chip card (Smart-Card) has a built-in “intelligence”, with which calculation operations can be performed and access to the memory on the card can be controlled. These chip cards are used as "electronic money", as "electronic key" or as "portable information memory". Here, for example, for use in telecommunication, frequently used telephone numbers can be stored on the chip card, which can be called up under the terms of “abbreviated selection” (“Chip cards; 'memory' cards'; Eberhard Schrother; Funkschau 7/1988; pages 50-52).
Conditioned by the increasingly improved technology of semiconductors, with the help of which more and more functions can be accommodated on the same surface, by miniaturizing the structures, appreciable memories and computational capacities can be implemented on a chip card. Such chip cards, with special control and security logics, serve as “electronic money”, using the card in the form of a “prepayment card” or in the form of an “accounting card”. In addition, access control systems can be implemented with such cards ("From the telephone card to the cryptographic card"; Jürgen Hammerschmitt and Gert Krings; telecom report 14 (1991) notebook 3; pages 158 - 161).
From the article "Personal Telephone Services Using IC-Cards" by N. Matsuo et al., IEEE Communications Magazine 27 (1989) July n ° 7, pages 41 - 48, a processor-controlled telephone and a chip card usable in It follows the preamble of claim 1, on whose card the data relating to the user is stored. A main central processing unit is provided in the telephone for the control and for the realization of the telephone services. The mission of the main central processing unit can alternatively also be assumed by the processor on the smart card, whereby the smart card controls the functions of the telephone. However, for this, the card and the telephone have to be specially designed for each other. For the preparation of the telecommunication protocol and especially the signaling protocol for the telecommunications network, another central processing unit, the central communication command processing unit, is provided in the telephone. This, together with a network connection device for levels 1 and 2 of the ISO link system, commands the access protocol for the telecommunications network. An exchange of data between the chip card and the telecommunications network is thus only possible indirectly by using the functions of the telephone, that is, the service of the central communication control processing unit.
The mission of the invention is based on developing a chip card that is able to assume and perform more and more functions. In particular, it is the mission of the invention to present a chip card for use in a telecommunications terminal, with which a direct data exchange between the chip card and the telecommunications network is possible.
The mission is solved according to the invention through the theory of the first claim.
An advantage of the invention resides in that the functionality of a telecommunication terminal is independent of the terminal itself. Only by using the chip card is the functionality of the terminal determined. This, in turn, has the advantage that, by means of the chip card, each telecommunications subscriber has a terminal with the desired elements of service or benefits available anywhere and at all times. The terminal itself can be prepared in a simple and inexpensive way of realization.
Another advantage of the invention is that the protection against unauthorized access to personal data of the user by users of telecommunication terminals is essentially increased. Likewise, the protection against the inappropriate use of a telecommunication terminal is increased, because without the chip card, the telecommunication terminal, as such, therefore does not offer any or hardly any functionality to be able to use it, not even by unauthorized users.
Another essential advantage of the invention resides in that the data relating to the user is stored directly on the chip card. Due to the direct storage of user-related data, this data does not have to be transmitted over long distances, eg from a main data bank to the telecommunications terminal, which significantly reduces the signaling load.
Advantageous developments of the invention can be deduced from subclaims 2 to 7.
According to secondary claim 2, the chip card claimed in claim 1 is used together with at least one other chip card, in the same telecommunication terminal.
Here these can be both chip cards of the same type, as well as chip cards of another type. In order to make the simultaneous use of several chip cards possible, means must exist on each chip card to check whether another card was inserted in the telecommunication terminal.
IS 2 140 474 T3
In secondary claim 3 the chip card according to the invention is used, also in telecommunication terminals. The chip card is used to prepare protocols of the Mobile Special Group network or protocols of the Comprehensive Service Network. Furthermore, there is the possibility of preparing both protocols of the Mobile Special Group network, as well as protocols of the Comprehensive Service Network, using the chip card. The preparation of the protocols is made possible by the means for the preparation of telecommunication protocols found on the chip card.
A further advantageous use of the claimed chip card is described in secondary claim 4. The chip card can be used to develop telecommunication services. Telecommunication services are understood here, for example, as teletext services, telefax, video and telephone services.
Another advantageous use of the claimed chip card is described in secondary claim 5. Features and / or macros can be stored on the chip card. Features and / or macros are stored in the memory of the chip card.
Following secondary claim 6, the chip card is used to exchange useful and signaling data between the chip card and a telecommunications network. By means of the chip card a direct exchange of data between the telecommunications network and the chip card is possible, and not first between the chip card and the telecommunication terminal, and then between the telecommunication terminal and the telecommunication network.
In secondary claim 7, it is described as another advantageous development, the use of the chip card according to the invention for the exchange of useful data and signaling, between two equal chip cards, or different chip cards, in the same terminal. telecommunication. There is also the possibility of data exchange between two chip cards, the same or different, in different telecommunication terminals.
An example of an embodiment is explained in the figure below. The figure below shows:
Figure: Block diagram of an example of an embodiment.
The chip card according to the invention is explained below (without drawing).
According to the invention, the chip card consists of, among other things, a processor and a memory. The processor provides computational power for fast data processing.
Furthermore, the chip card contains the first means for receiving useful data and signaling. Second means are used for the preparation of telecommunication protocols, and third means are used for the elaboration of useful and signaling data within the chip card.
The memory serves for the storage of the useful and signaling data received, and for the storage of the useful and signaling data, elaborated within the chip card. Otherwise, features and / or macros can be stored in memory. A sequence of microinstructions is assembled in a macro. Calling the macro triggers the sequence of microinstructions and these are executed.
The first medium is used for the reception of useful data and signaling. Useful and signaling data are transferred, for example, from a telecommunications network, directly to the chip card that is inserted in a telecommunications terminal. Furthermore, a chip card can receive useful and signaling data from another chip card that is inserted in the same telecommunication terminal. It is also possible to receive data from a chip card that is not inserted in the same telecommunication terminal, but in another. The chip card from which the data is received may be a chip card of the same type, but it is also possible that it is a chip card of another type, for example a conventional chip card.
With the second means, telecommunication protocols are prepared, for example, by means of the chip card. Thus, protocols that carry out an identification or authentication of a user with a telecommunications network can be prepared by the chip card, for example. With the help of the chip card, a user is identified as an authorized user. For the rest, by means of authentication, the services that are available to you are recognized and made available to you.
Since the preparation of telecommunication protocols was carried out by means of the chip card, a user can do this anywhere and at any time, regardless of the type of telecommunication terminal.
With third-party means, useful and signaling data can be prepared within the card. Thus, for example, received data that are stored in the memory can be read, after this they are processed inside the chip card and re-stored in the memory. However, the processed data can also be read by the chip card.
In the following part, the use of the chip card according to the invention is explained by the hand of an example of realization, by means of the figure.
A precondition for the exemplary embodiment is that a telecommunication subscriber wishes to establish a link with another telecommunication subscriber already known to him, and that a link has already occurred at least once.
For example, in each of four different places there is a telecommunication terminal A, B, C, D. Each terminal is equipped with a reader for one or more chip cards, the same or different.
A first subscriber TLN1 is at the location of the telecommunication terminal A, and has inserted his personal card with a chip in the telecommunication terminal there.
A second subscriber TLN2 is at the location of the telecommunication terminal B, and has also inserted his personal chip card there.
IS 2 140 474 T3
All telecommunication terminals are linked by a telecommunication network with an NV device for message routing.
The first subscriber TLN1 wishes, for example, to call the second subscriber TLN2. But the first subscriber TLN1 is not known the presumed place of stay of the second subscriber TLN2. There is the possibility that the second subscriber is either in the place of terminal B, or in that of C, or in that of D, of telecommunication.
Since the second subscriber TLN2 is a customer who calls frequently and who is already called frequently, a location with the highest probability of stay can be determined, or several locations with probability of stay can be determined , staggered by frequency.
For the case that the place where the telecommunication terminal B is located, for example, corresponds to the workstation of the second subscriber TLN2, the probability that it will be there during the day is very high.
For the case that the telecommunication terminal C is a public telephone booth, the probability that the second TLN2 subscriber is there at all times is very low.
In the third case, the telecommunication terminal may be found, for example, in the car of the second subscriber TLN2. The probability of staying in this place will be maximum then, for example, before starting work and after the shift.
Likewise, any other place in a telecommunication terminal can be imagined.
The different probabilities of staying in various places or, however, the most probable place of stay, are stored in the chip card of the first subscriber TLN1.
When attempting to establish a link, eg a telephone link, of the first subscriber TLN1 with the second subscriber TLN2, the location of the highest probability of stay is first selected, that is, an attempt is made to establish a link.
The establishment of the link is carried out by the chip card that is able to also prepare signaling protocols.
Then the chip card of the first subscriber TLN1 identifies the chip card of the second subscriber TLN2 at the terminal site
B.
In the event that the second TLN2 subscriber does not have his chip card inserted anywhere in a telecommunication terminal, in which a probability of stay is registered, the establishment of the link is carried out according to the method known through the device. NV for message routing.
In accordance with the programming of the chip card, the probability of stay of other, in conclusion, many subscribers can also be stored.
The next part explains the use of the chip card with another example.
The chip card has means for the preparation of telecommunication protocols, that is, also of signaling protocols. The preparation of the signaling protocols serves, for example, to establish the link to another chip card inserted in a telecommunication terminal. After a link establishment has been carried out, telecommunication services can be developed, such as data transmission.
A special example of this would be, for example, that a user has inserted a chip card in a telephoanic device, but wishes to receive a fax. By means of the chip card, the user will be able to establish a link with a fax machine. Therefore after the link establishment is carried out, a data transmission from the telephone set to the fax machine can be carried out as a telecommunication service.
For the rest, it will be possible that in the event that at the moment no fax machine can be reached, the data will be received and stored by the chip card. But when a fax machine is available, the data stored by the chip card can be transferred to the fax machine and printed.
Furthermore, features and / or macros can be stored on the chip card. With this, a user of a chip card brings with him benefits that are especially desired by him. They can also be called macros, that is, a sequence of microinstructions can be executed by calling a macro.
