Brake device for children's pushchairs
Abstract
DISPOSITIVO DE FRENO PARA COCHECITOS INFANTILES. ACTUALMENTE LOS FRENOS PARA COCHECITOS PRESENTAN UN MANDO SITUADO PROXIMO A LAS RUEDAS Y QUE MEDIANTE SU ACCIONAMIENTO ADOPTAN DOS POSICIONES ESTABLES: UNA DE FRENADO Y OTRA DE DESFRENADO. EL NUEVO DISPOSITIVO PRESENTA UNA POSICION ESTABLE DE FRENADO Y UNA POSICION INESTABLE DE DESFRENADO QUE DEBE SER MANTENIDA MEDIANTE ACCION CONTINUA SOBRE EL MANDO DEL DISPOSITIVO INSTALADO EN PROXIMIDAD DEL MANILLAR PARA TENER EL ACCESO AL MISMO MIENTRAS SE CONDUCE EL COCHECITO. LOS ELEMENTOS BLOQUEADORES, ACOPLADOS A LAS RUEDAS, SE RELACIONAN CON EL MANDO MEDIANTE ELEMENTOS DE TRANSMISION MECANICOS O HIDRAULICOS, Y ESTAN CONSTITUIDOS POR GATILLOS ARTICULADOS EMPUJADOS POR MEDIOS ELASTICOS PARA SU ACOPLAMIENTO EN ENTRANTES PERIFERICOS DE LOS NUCLEOS DE LAS RUEDAS.

DESCRIPTION
The present invention relates to a brake device for strollers.
Since almost always the strollers have been equipped with brakes on one or more of their wheels, which are operated by devices close to them and that act on one or more wheels and which are constituted by levers that adopt two stable positions, one active and another passive, moving from one position to another always by means of express action generally by operating with the foot on a brake pedal control pedal.
These devices have caused more of a problem since if you do not have the precaution of stopping the stroller, in an oversight and when you are in this position, the stroller can move on its own, for example on a slope, with the consequent danger to the child.
With the brake device object of this invention this possibility of risk disappears completely because the stroller is always braked, it should be kept expressly unraveled during its march since if the corresponding control is released automatically the stroller will be braked.
This new device has a control that is installed next to the handlebar, whose command is easy to drive while the stroller is driving, and this command is related to the locking elements provided on the wheels by means of transmission means that act on the elastic means that permanently push the locking elements against the wheels.
These transmission means can be of the mechanical or hydraulic type and the blocking elements are constituted by articulated triggers that are coupled at their end into peripheral recesses of the wheel nucleus.
These and other characteristics will be better derived from the detailed description that follows, to facilitate which is accompanied by three sheets of drawings in which a practical case of performance has been represented that is cited only by way of a non-limiting example of the scope of the present description.
In the drawings:
Figures 1 and 2 illustrate, respectively in side and front elevations, a stroller equipped with the brake device object of this invention, Figures 3 and 4 show, respectively in passive braking position and in active braking position, the device in as seen in a section in elevation in its realization with mechanical transmission means, figure 5 represents in side elevation the control of this device coupled to the handlebar of the stroller, and Figure 6 indicates in elevation section the realization of this device with hydraulic transmission means.
According to the drawings, the brake device will follow the invention comprising a control (1) constituted by an inverted U-member that is coupled adjacently and parallel to the rear of the handle (2) of the handlebar in
U inverted of the stroller (3), whose coupling is made by two articulated plates (4) and (5) on each side forming an articulated parallelogram so that when pressing on the control (1) they are still indicated by the arrow (F) it slides down.
The lower plate (5) of one of the sides extends frontally forming a hook (6) where the upper head (7) of a cable (8 sliding in a sheath (9) with upper stop (10), which is attached it passes through the corresponding tubular branch (11) of the handlebar leaving inferiorly of this one they follow the section (9 ') until arriving at a distribution box (12) fixed under the seat (13) of the stroller, where the cable (8) is coupled to other cables (14) directed towards the four wheels (15) of the stroller and guided by corresponding covers (16), (17), (18) and (19), passing the first two through the inside of the respective rear tubular legs (20) of the stroller and the second two by the inside of the front legs (20 ').
The four cables (14) at their lower end are coupled by means of two heads (21) to respective locking elements of the wheels constituted by triggers (22), which are articulated by a midpoint (23) to a support (24) to which the axle (25) of the wheels that in this case form twin pairs is coupled. The trigger (22), in its tail, forms a fork (22 ') in which the lower head (21) of the cables is coupled, a helical spring (26) being arranged against the fork (22 ') and against the perforated plug (27) that closes inferiorly to the legs, so that these springs tend to keep applied to the triggers (22) against one of the peripheral recesses (28) of the core (29) of the wheels.
For normal operation of the stroller, the user who has to push it when grabbing the handle (2) of the handlebar will move downwards to the control (1), which will pull the cable upwards (8) follow the arrow (F ') (figure 5), so that this cable will act on the cables (14) of the four wheels compressing the spring (26) and swinging the trigger (22 that will separate from the wheel nucleus continue to be indicated with the date (F ”) ( figure 3), then turning the wheels freely.
When the handlebar is released and the control (1) is released, the springs (26) are recovered and applied to the triggers against the wheels blocking them.
In Figure 6, a small hydraulic pump is installed in the distributor and instead of the four cables that go to the wheels there will be two conduits (14 ') that will be coupled to respective cylinders (30) fixed at the lower end of the legs (20y (21), the piston (31) of whose cylinders is the one that will act against the triggers (22) by means of an end rod (32), in this case, the trigger is also subjected to the spring action (26 ') that pulls it and applies it to the nucleus (29) of the wheels, a trigger that is articulated by its tail at a point (23') of the carrier (24 ') of the axle (25) of the wheels.
In the case shown, the wheel supports are coupled in a self-orientated manner, whose rotation is not hindered by the assembly of this brake device in the stroller, whose arrangement
011 702 tivo can also be coupled, of course, to strollers with unidirectional wheels and applied only to two of the wheels instead of four.
It is also understood that the transmission means from the control to the wheel locking elements may be other, in addition to those represented, for example based on articulated rods.
In no case do these means of transmission hinder the normal folding of the stroller, and the braking device in question can easily be installed to the strollers in their origin or manufacture or adapt to strollers already manufactured with minimal changes in them.
The invention within its essentiality can be brought into practice in other forms of realization that differ only in detail from that indicated only by way of example to which it also attained the protection sought. It could, then, be made this brake device for strollers, with the most appropriate means and materials and with the most convenient accessories, the component elements being able to be replaced by other technically equivalent ones, since all this is included in the spirit of the following claims .
