DESCRIPTION
Composite toroidal gasket for ball valves.
Object of the invention
The present specification refers to a composite toroidal gasket for ball valves, constituting an annular check gasket, intended to be used mainly in ball valves, although not exclusively.
Field of the invention
This invention has its application within the industry dedicated to the manufacture of valves. Background of the invention
The use of toroidal gaskets (O-ring) is known, generally made of an elastomeric material, that is to say in rubber, assembled at the factory for static retentions, where they are found in the presence of forces mainly perpendicular to their diametral plane, or for retentions dynamics in the presence of forces that develop in particular in the diametral plane of the garrison itself.
Similarly, it is known to use annular seals with a quadrangular section, made of PTFE (known under the brand name TEFLON), which have mechanical and physical characteristics such that they reduce wear, without therefore this type of seals being able to provide the performance retention characteristics of the rubber gaskets.
It is also known to use annular gaskets obtained by inserting rubber toroidal gaskets in PTFE annular supports, which also have the drawbacks derived from the risks of extraction of the rubber toroidal gasket, and therefore lack of retention. , as a consequence of the effort developed from the sphere of the valve on the aforementioned garrison.
It will be desirable to have an invention that will be configured as a toroidal gasket that will eliminate the aforementioned inconveniences and problems, allowing with its new and original combination and arrangement of appropriate parts, simultaneously obtaining an increase in efficiency, either in terms of use or already. both in terms of duration.
Description of the invention
The composite toroidal gasket for ball valves that the invention proposes, is configured in itself as an obvious novelty within its specific field of application.
More specifically, the toroidal gasket for ball valves is made up of a support that has a substantially "L" section, with a vertical section joined to a horizontal section, defining a throat, whose position will turn towards the The interior of the support has a tooth or shoulder.
Description of the drawings
To complement the description that is being made and in order to help a better understanding of the characteristics of the invention, the present specification is attached, as an integral part thereof, to a sheet of plans in which with an illustrative and non-limiting, the following has been represented:
Figure number 1.- Represents a sectional view of the object of the invention, corresponding to a composite toroidal gasket for ball valves.
Figure number 2.- Corresponds to a new sectional view and in greater detail of the gasket shown in figure number 1 in relation to the sphere of a valve.
Preferential realization of the invention
In view of these figures, it can be seen how the composite toroidal gasket for ball valves, generally referenced with (1), is made from a support (2) made of PTFE, and it is still visible in the figure number 2, the support (2) has a section that takes the shape of an "L", with a vertical section (3) joined to a horizontal section (4), defining a groove (5), whose position will turn towards the inside of the support (2), It has a tooth or projection (6).
In the area defined by the vertical (3) and horizontal (4) section, a toroidal lining (7) is appropriately housed, for example by stamping between the support (2) and said lining (7), and where appropriate it is joined, in a stable way, through a cementation process.
The toroidal lining (7) is consequently deformed and phasically blocked in the area defined by the vertical sections (3) and horizontal section (4), as well as by the tooth (6) of the support (2).
The annular gasket thus obtained and shaped, is intended to be opportunely housed in the body of a valve (not shown or referenced), in such a way that the sphere (8) of the same becomes constantly in contact with the gasket ( 7) toroidal.
The combination of pieces that has been described here, allows to maintain, either the mechanical stability of PTFE, or the retention security of the elastomer part, simultaneously reducing the friction effort between the elastomer part (7) and the ball (8) of the valve, thereby also involving a more comfortable actuation of the valve itself.
The conformation of the gasket under consideration, as well as its positioning inside the valve body, also make it possible to avoid the problems derived from rapid and significant variations in flow and from the pushing actions exerted on the sphere by the flow itself. that passes through it, and in particular, in the presence of the so-called "water hammer.
