Universal tap-off box

Abstract

The present disclosure relates to an axial flux motor comprising a stator assembly and a rotor assembly. The axial flux motor rotor assembly also includes an air cooling arrangement to provide air cooling to the stator assembly. The axial flux motor includes stator cores having enlarged end plates. The axial flux motor also includes a cooling jacket including fins that extend between electromagnets of the stator assembly.

10 claims: 2 independent, 8 dependent

  1. 1
A non-contact current monitoring assembly, comprising:a non-contact current sensor including a toroidal winding and a central opening for sensing a current in a wire passing through the central opening;and a voltage sensing insert at least partially positioned in said opening and fixed to the non-contact current sensor for detecting an open circuit condition of a circuit breaker connected to the wire.
  2. 2
The non-contact current monitoring assembly of Claim 1, wherein the voltage sensor assembly is made up of a generally annular, plastic or graphite structure that encases a non-contact voltage sensor element.
  3. 3
The non-contact current monitoring assembly of Claim 2, wherein the non-contact voltage sensor element is one of a capacitive plate or a voltage sensing wire.
  4. 4
The non-contact current monitoring assembly of Claim 1, wherein the non-contact current sensor is mounted on a circuit board.
  5. 5
The non-contact current monitoring assembly of Claim 4, wherein the circuit board is mounted in a tap-off box, and the wire is part of a branch circuit connected to a power bus.
  6. 6
The non-contact current monitoring assembly of Claim 5, wherein the tap-off box includes a circuit breaker, and wherein the non-contact current monitoring assembly is arranged to detect an open circuit condition of the circuit breaker upon detection of a change in voltage that results when the circuit breaker transitions from a closed position to an open position.
  7. 7
The non-contact current monitoring assembly of Claim 1, wherein the non-contact current sensor is a non-contact single phase CT current sensor.
  8. 8
The non-contact current monitoring assembly of Claim 1, wherein the voltage sensor assembly is made up of a generally annular, plastic or graphite structure that encases a non-contact voltage sensor element.
  9. 9
A tap-off box, comprising:a non-contact current sensor including a core and a toroidal winding, the non-contact current sensor having a central opening for receiving a branch circuit wire for sensing a current in the branch circuit;and a voltage sensing insert at least partially positioned in said opening and fixed to the non-contact current sensor for detecting a voltage in the branch circuit wire.
  10. 10
The tap-off box of Claim 9, wherein the non-contact voltage sensor element is one of a capacitive plate or voltage sensing wire.
