FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention includes a medical device, a medical accessory, a medical system and a medical method for optimized operation of a medical device.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Medical devices, in particular volumetric pumps or syringe pumps, are known in the prior art and are used to treat a patient and, in particular, to administer medication to the patient in an automated manner. In this case, medical accessories, in particular disposable medical items, such as syringes or infusion tubes connected to infusion bags, are introduced into the medical device, which then transports the medication or medical solution contained in the accessory, for example a syringe for a syringe pump or a disposable infusion item, e.g. infusion bag, to the patient in a controlled manner. In particular, the actuator and/or pump system present in the medical device is used, which can be controlled by a corresponding control device.
For example, a medication or other medical solution, such as saline, may be delivered in a medical syringe or IV bag. These accessories containing medication or medical solution can then be inserted into the medical device, and the actuator that operates the syringe or the pump that operates the infusion tube is then controlled to administer the desired amount of solution to the patient.
A variety of such medical devices and associated accessories are known in the prior art.
However, in everyday medical practice and, where appropriate, in home use, there is generally the challenge of ensuring that the right medication or medical solution reaches the patient via the desired access, in the desired quantity and time when using multiple medical devices, and that the medical system, including the medical device and the medical accessory, is set up in such a way that that confusion or other accidental misuse is excluded as far as possible.
In practice, clinical staff usually selects an accessory pre-loaded with medical solution and, if applicable, medication, or loads it with solution and, if applicable, medication themselves, and then inserts the loaded accessory into the medical device. If necessary, the selected accessory can be selected and confirmed using a graphical user interface of the medical device. More modern systems have a corresponding network interface and can communicate with an external control unit if necessary.
This is particularly relevant when medical systems, for example in intensive care, comprise a multitude of medical devices to provide patients with a variety of different medications and solutions at the same time, possibly via a variety of access points. This can result in a large number of medical tubes surrounding the patient and can compromise safety against errors during connection by medical personnel.
Administering the wrong medication or selecting the wrong flow rate for the medical device can have fatal consequences for the patient. In particular, administering medication through the wrong patient access port can be immediately critical, or—especially with low flow rates—any alarm that would detect an insufficient dose of medication or medical solution may be triggered late. Mixing of possibly incompatible medications and/or solutions can also occur due to a lack of overview of the routing of various accessories and medical devices.
Currently, the identification of suitable accessories is performed manually, particularly by visually and manually tracking the tube from the medical device to the patient access point. Various solutions are known in the prior art, including, in particular, marking the accessories to prevent confusion when fitting the medical device with the accessory. For example, document<patcit id="pcit0001" dnum="WO23280455A1"><text>WO 23280455 A1</text></patcit> A disposable medical article, in particular a medical tube or a medical sliding clamp, for use on or in a medical device, wherein the disposable medical article comprises at least one integrated marking as an identification feature. The at least one marking is provided on a predefined section of the disposable article, for example, with a color.
document<patcit id="pcit0002" dnum="EP4205779A1"><text>EP 4205779 A1</text></patcit> discloses an infusion pump for detecting the color of a tube clamp using IR markers.
However, the current state-of-the-art solutions result in increased workload for nursing staff, as they have to laboriously trace the line routing manually. Even the use of color-coded infusion lines can only provide limited clarity, particularly since there isn't a sufficiently large number of different colors available to distinguish all lines in a larger medical infusion system.
It remains problematic, particularly with regard to use in a dark or largely unlit environment, to avoid errors in the connection and assignment of accessories and medical devices.
The document<patcit id="pcit0003" dnum="WO2013074717A1"><text>WO 2013 074717 A1</text></patcit> reveals an illuminated set of hoses. However, the accessories are mostly disposable items that are disposed of after use.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
One object underlying the invention is to overcome the above-mentioned and other disadvantages. A further object underlying the invention is to increase safety during the intended connection of medical solutions and, where appropriate, accessories containing medications into a medical device, and in particular to ensure that the respective accessory is assigned to the correct medical device for its intended purpose. Furthermore, it is an object underlying the invention to facilitate the intended adjustment of the medical device, in particular with regard to the delivery of medical solution and, if appropriate, medication, which is included in the accessory article, to the patient.
These and other problems are solved by the subject matter of the appended independent claims.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The above objects are achieved according to the invention by a medical device, a medical accessory, a medical system, a medical method and a computer-readable storage medium according to the appended claims.
Preferred embodiments can be taken from the dependent claims and further from the following description, particularly including various embodiments as covered and described in the appended claims.
Those skilled in the art will understand that each embodiment discussed in the following description is covered and encompassed by the subject matter of the appended claims. The embodiments, features and combinations of features described in connection with the invention, as well as the combinations of features specified in the appended claims, but also any combination of features mentioned and described in connection with the embodiments, are at least deemed to be derivable by the person skilled in the art.
In particular, each feature and each combination of features in the embodiments described here may, for example, be claimed in a different combination, in particular in a different claim category, since the person skilled in the art will recognize that each individual combination of the features mentioned here is suitable for contributing to solving the underlying problem.
Furthermore, any feature and any combination of features in the claims and in the description below may be used and claimed independently of the particular subject-matter claimed, independently of claim dependencies and backreferences, and independently of the claim category in which the feature is claimed. For example, in any combination selected from one or more claims, one or more of the embodiments described below and/or the attached figures may be provided.
Within the present application, terms such as "side," "rear," "front," "top," "bottom," "opposite," "inside," "outside," or similar, as used herein, refer to the position of a first object relative to another object. Preferably, they refer to the relative position of a respective part or object with respect to its position when fully assembled for its intended use.
It will be readily appreciated by a person skilled in the art that a feature, embodiment, effect, or advantage described herein in connection with the inventive medical device may also be a feature, embodiment, effect, or advantage of the inventive method, the inventive accessory, the medical system, and/or the computer-readable storage medium, and vice versa.
The objects underlying the invention are achieved in a first aspect by a medical device, in particular a medical pump according to the appended claims. The medical device can in particular be a volumetric pump, such as an infusion pump, or a syringe pump, for example a syringe pump.
The device according to the invention comprises a receptacle or a connector for a medical accessory. The connector is configured such that the medical accessory can be inserted, in particular connected and/or coupled. In this case, the entire accessory or only a portion of it can be inserted into the medical device.
The medical accessory comprises a hose line or is connectable to such a hose line. Those skilled in the art are familiar with such medical accessories and know that they are commercially available in various configurations and can be used in the device according to the present invention. Such an accessory can be a one-piece item and, in particular, already include the hose line, or it can be designed to be connected to a hose line. The hose line can, for example, be connected or plugged onto the accessory.
The device according to the invention further comprises an illumination source for illuminating a part of a hose line encompassed and/or connected by the accessory in a field of view.
The term "field of view" as used herein preferably refers to the perception of a user, in particular medical personnel, who is using the medical device as intended or monitoring its intended use. The field of view is preferably an area that is visible to the user when the device is being used as intended, i.e., preferably with a disposable device inserted. In other words, a field of view is visible to a user even if the receptacle or connection for inserting the accessory is closed, for example by a protective or closing flap.
The present invention advantageously allows the user, in particular medical personnel, to reliably and quickly check by means of a simple visual inspection that the connection of medical solutions and, if applicable, medications included in the accessory article in a medical device is as intended. In particular, it is easy to ensure that the respective accessory item is assigned to the correct medical device for its intended purpose.
The illumination source advantageously illuminates a portion of a tubing line, which is either connected to or part of an accessory, in a visible field of view accessible to the user. This makes it easier to identify and assign a medication or medical solution contained in the accessory, as well as the therapy planned for the patient.
It is particularly advantageous that the course and/or connection of hose lines, in particular infusion lines, can be better understood by means of an illumination signal, in particular a light signal.
The illumination source, such as a light source such as a lamp, ensures that the tubing is illuminated in specific areas, particularly in the user's field of vision. The light spreads, for example, in an infusion line and can be emitted continuously or at specifically designated locations due to scattering or similar physical effects. In this way, it is possible to easily trace the course of the individual hose lines using the illumination signals.
In an advantageous and preferred embodiment of the medical device according to the present invention, the illumination source is a light source. The light source is preferably selected from the group comprising LEDs and lasers. This particularly advantageously ensures that the selected light source, in particular from the group of LEDs and lasers, enables the medical device according to the present invention to provide precise and effective illumination. LEDs and lasers are characterized by their precise controllability, relatively low cost, low energy consumption, and their ability to precisely direct the light, resulting in improved device performance and adaptability.
Alternatively, other illumination sources can also be used according to the invention. For example, instead of light, an alternating electric field can be used and coupled into the tubing. The illumination signal can then be generated based on electroluminescence effects. Furthermore, electrical currents generated by a power source can also be coupled into the infusion line as an illumination medium. The light signal is then generated, for example, by emission at semiconductor junctions. For this purpose, the device according to the invention can comprise a suitable illumination source, for example, organic light-emitting diodes.
In an advantageous and preferred embodiment of the medical device according to the present invention, the medical device comprises a guide for the tubing. Such a guide is present in most conventional medical devices of the prior art in order to properly secure the accessory, or the enclosed and/or connected tubing. The illumination source can be advantageously installed particularly easily in the area where the hose line is routed. In one embodiment, a first illumination source is arranged in the region of the guide of the tubing within the medical device, i.e. in a region of insertion of the article, such that the viewing area of an exit of the tubing from the medical device is illuminated in order to illuminate the tubing outside the medical device. Additionally or alternatively, a second illumination source is arranged in the region of the tubing guide within the medical device, in a region of insertion of the article, such that the viewing area of an entry of the tubing into the medical device is illuminated in order to illuminate the tubing outside the medical device.
The terms "exit" and "inlet" as used herein preferably refer to regions of the medical device that are related to an intended flow direction (F) of a medicament or medical solution provided in the medical accessory. In other words, the outlet of a tubing in a medical device is the area at which a medication or medical solution provided in the medical accessory exits or flows out of the tubing. Accordingly, the entry of a tubing in a medical device is the area at which a medication or medical solution provided in the medical accessory enters or flows into the tubing.
For better orientation, in one embodiment, the medical device can have illumination contours. Such illumination contours can advantageously facilitate the coupling of an illumination signal into the tubing. Simultaneously or alternatively, illumination contours can be designed as illumination guide contours, which advantageously serve to guide the illumination to a coupling point of the illumination signal into the tubing.
In an advantageous and preferred embodiment of the medical device according to the present invention, the illumination source comprises one or more light sources. Preferably, the one or more light sources are configured to generate light of different wavelengths. In other words, the light source can generate light of different colors. In particular, the light source can comprise light sources of different colors for this purpose. In particular, the light source can comprise multi-colored LEDs, RGB LEDs, or similar devices. These light sources, in particular LEDs, can advantageously be arranged on a single or multiple circuit boards. In such arrangements, the light source can advantageously emit different colors, which can then be related to the type of medication administered through the tubing, in terms of content and/or treatment regimen. Alternatively, the illumination, especially the color, can be selected based on the detection of the disposable item, for example, using a sensor of a detection unit for detecting the accessory item and/or for classifying and/or categorizing the accessory item. In other words, depending on the detected accessory item, different colors can be output, each of which is related to the type of accessory item or, for example, to a specific component. marker attached to it.
This makes it easy to assign the medication, based on content and/or therapy regimen, to the medical device based on its color, thus advantageously reducing the risk of confusion or the likelihood of incorrect connection.
Advantageously, the illumination color can be assigned to the settings in a medication database. This can be provided by the manufacturer in a system according to the invention and/or can be adjustable by a user.
A selected or predetermined color can be assigned to a medication group.
For better identification, a medical device according to the present invention may comprise a display element, for example on a user interface, for example a separate illuminated display, the entire display or parts of the user interface shown on the display, which is configured to provide a signal that is designed in the same color as the accessory, a marker of the accessory and/or the illumination signal.
In a further embodiment, the medical device according to the present invention can be configured such that a color pattern of alternating colors can be provided as an illumination signal in order to signal their association.
In an advantageous and preferred embodiment of the medical device according to the present invention, the medical device comprises a detection unit with a sensor, in particular a touch sensor. Such a sensor can be configured to detect a touch by the user. For example, the sensor can be designed so that contact with the hose line can be detected via electrical effects, such as a change in potential, the occurrence or change of leakage currents, or optical effects, such as back reflections of the illumination signal. Such a contact signal can be used as a control signal, e.g. for switching the illumination on or off by the medical device, in particular by a control unit of the medical device. Furthermore, such sensor information for detecting touches can also be passed on to the control unit of the medical device, e.g., the volumetric pump. Additionally or alternatively, the sensor can also be used to detect and, in particular, classify or categorize an accessory. This allows, in particular, the disposable item and/or a portion of a tubing encompassed and/or connected to the accessory to be illuminated in a field of view based on the detected and thus identified accessory.
The control unit of a medical device according to the present invention can be configured to change parameters of the medical device based on such control signals. In other words, various parameters of the medical device can then be adjusted by touching the tubing. Based on detection of the user's touch of the accessory, for example, The lighting, or other parameters and control processes in the medical device, can be controlled. For example, a nurse can more quickly navigate a maze of multiple infusion lines and trace the route of a selected line if the tubing the nurse is touching is illuminated, making it visible from the other lines.
In an advantageous and preferred embodiment of the medical device according to the present invention, the medical device comprises a light splitter, in particular a prism. Such a light splitter can advantageously direct and/or focus the illumination signal from the illumination source, for example, and bundle it or illuminate the tubing in a point-like manner. The illumination source can also couple the illumination signal into the tubing or tubing material using such a light switch. For this purpose, tubing suitable for this purpose is advantageously transparent or translucent, usually made of colorless plastic. The illumination source, in particular the light source, thus advantageously couples the illumination signal into the transparent infusion line via the light switch. This can advantageously be achieved, for example, via a typical, cylindrical diameter of the casing of such a hose. For this purpose, a device according to the invention can comprise a light diverter, in particular a prism, which has a favorable angle of incidence of the light relative to the hose for light input.
A medical device according to the present invention may further comprise an actuating means for, preferably manually, switching the illumination source on and/or off. In the simplest case, the device comprises an on/off button by means of which the illumination can be switched on and off, for example, by interrupting the power supply to the illumination source. Thus, the user can activate or deactivate an illumination signal. In a further embodiment, the medical device according to the invention can comprise a user interface, e.g. a touchscreen, or other intended actuating means, or other operating elements already necessary for the operation of the pump, e.g. a syringe holder, an opening mechanism for a front flap, a laying contour for the accessory, etc., to activate or deactivate the illumination signal.
A medical device according to the present invention may further comprise a detection unit for detecting an accessory. In particular, such a detection unit may comprise a sensor, for example a pump sensor, which is configured to detect at least one marker of the medical accessory, in particular one that is matched to the detection unit. Such a marker can be attached to the accessory by a user and connected to it detachably or permanently, or it can be provided as an integrated marker at the factory. Such a marker is provided as an identifying feature of the inserted or connected accessory. A control unit of the medical device can be configured to identify the accessory based on the detected identification feature and/or to determine the position of the accessory relative to the detection unit. Such a feature can be provided in various ways and, for example, can be a colored feature, e.g., a colored hose clamp.
The objects underlying the invention are achieved in a second aspect by a medical accessory. A medical accessory according to the present invention is, in particular, a disposable article. A medical accessory according to the present invention comprises, at least in sections, a hollow body, for example, a hose line or a hose line section. A medical accessory according to the present invention is adapted to be inserted, enclosed and/or coupled into or to a medical device, wherein the medical device is preferably a medical device according to the present invention.
The medical accessory can, in particular, be a disposable medical article, such as a syringe, a medical tube, an infusion bag with a tubing line, or an infusion bag designed for connection to a tubing line. The medical accessory can therefore comprise a tubing line or be connectable to a tubing line.
In an advantageous and preferred embodiment of the medical accessory according to the present invention, the accessory comprises an optical fiber and/or a light reflecting means. This allows the accessory, and in particular a portion of a tubing encompassed and/or connected by the accessory, to be particularly advantageously illuminated in a field of view. Alternatively, the medical accessory according to the present invention can comprise a light-guiding element that is attached and/or machined onto the tubing. This is preferably designed to achieve advantageous coupling of the illumination signal, in particular the light.
In an advantageous and preferred embodiment of the medical accessory according to the present invention, the medical accessory comprises an illumination source. An accessory with such a dedicated illumination source, in addition to or as an alternative to an illumination source of a medical device according to the first aspect of the invention, advantageously serves to illuminate a portion of a tubing encompassed and/or connected by the accessory in a field of view. In other words, the accessory itself can also have an illumination source and illuminate itself. It is immediately apparent here that, in a system according to the invention, it is particularly advantageous for the medical device and the accessory to each have an illumination source. Thus, following insertion of the accessory into a medical device, for example, color matching of the two illuminations can significantly facilitate correct assignment. In this respect, the person skilled in the art will immediately recognize that the illumination source of the accessory article according to the invention can have the same properties and features as an illumination source of the device according to the invention according to the first aspect of the invention.
Thus, if, for example, an illumination source of the device according to the invention is described herein as a light source, preferably LEDs, lasers, or the like, these features are also possible embodiments of the illumination source of the accessory according to the invention. In particular, the illuminescence signal can be generated based on electroluminescence effects. Electrical currents can also be coupled into the tubing. The illuminescence signal can, for example, generated by emission at semiconductor junctions, for example with organic light-emitting diodes.
In one embodiment, the medical accessory comprises a light guide along a casing portion of the accessory. The illumination effect can thus be advantageously generated along the casing portion, in particular along the tubing. For this purpose, the accessory, in particular in such a casing portion, can be provided with a material selected for this purpose, for example, with regard to fluorescence properties.
The objects underlying the invention are achieved in a third aspect by a medical system comprising at least one medical device, preferably according to the first aspect of the invention, and at least one accessory, preferably according to the second aspect of the invention. The system according to the invention further comprises a storage unit with a medication database in which data on medications are stored. Preferably, an accessory database is stored in the storage unit, in which data on at least two different accessories is stored. The control unit of the system according to the invention is provided and adapted to illuminate, based on the detected and thus identified accessory, a portion of a hose line encompassed by and/or connected to the accessory in a field of view. In other words, depending on or In relation to the disposable article, a part of a hose line encompassed and/or connected by the accessory article may be illuminated in a field of view.
Particularly advantageously, the system according to the invention is also able to filter and/or limit a medication selection option in the medication database and/or to filter and/or limit a selection option for another accessory item. The system according to the invention can be set up to use the data of stored medications, but also to use stored therapy schemes for individual medications and/or medical solutions, or also to use stored therapy schemes for a combination of different medications. Thus, even if the system comprises a plurality of medical devices and/or medical accessories, a clear assignment of medication and/or therapy data from the medication database to the medical devices and/or medical accessories is possible.
In particular, in embodiments in which the system according to the invention comprises a medical device according to the first aspect of the invention and/or in embodiments in which the system according to the invention comprises a medical accessory according to the second aspect of the invention, the control unit of the system according to the invention can, on the basis of the detected and thus identified accessory, to illuminate a portion of a tubing comprised and/or connected by the accessory in a field of view. This can advantageously be achieved by an illumination source of the medical device or, optionally or additionally, by an illumination source of the accessory. Thus, the system according to the invention enables recognition of the accessory and, thanks to the illumination signals provided, is easily controllable. Furthermore, the system can be configured in such a way that it can suggest a therapy or a medication, for example also based on a recognition of an accessory item if this and/or the device according to the invention is configured and provided for this purpose.
In an advantageous and preferred embodiment of the medical system according to the present invention, the control unit is provided and adapted to issue a visual alarm and/or prevent a start of the therapy based on the detected and thus identified accessory item when setting a therapy of the medical devices with a predetermined combination of the medication or medication concentration to the accessory item. The provision of the illumination signal by the illumination means can be configured in different ways to provide such an alarm as a visual alarm signal or, if necessary, to visually support an acoustic alarm signal. For example, the alarm can be represented by a change in illumination intensity over time, in particular by flashing or pulsing. A change in color can also be included additionally or alternatively. The invention also encompasses illumination signals that represent patterns of alternating colors. For better identification, a medical device according to the present invention can have a display element, e.g. on a user interface, for example a separate illuminated display, the entire display or parts of the user interface shown on the display, which is arranged to provide a signal that is designed in the same color as the accessory, a marker of the accessory and/or the illumination signal.
The system can further be configured to assign different illumination signals, in particular different colors, to different functions of the system and/or medical device. For example, a visual alarm or notification can be visualized in color, e.g., the alarm in red, the notification in orange, or with a changing flashing frequency, or statically by illuminating the tubing. The illumination signal can also be a confirmation signal, for example, to indicate that the desired disposable item has been inserted with the desired medication, or that the desired disposable item has been correctly inserted and connected. This can be visualized, for example, by a suitable signal color, such as green, or by another suitable illumination signal, such as a constant light intensity.
The illumination signal can thus visualize the occurrence of specific system states and make them distinguishable for the user. An alarm can also be visualized using different illumination signals, and if necessary, the different causes that triggered the alarm and those that were detected can be distinguished. These include, but are not limited to, occlusion alarms, air alarms, pressure alarms, alarms due to an incorrectly inserted accessory, alarms due to an incorrectly but correctly inserted accessory, and functional impairments of all kinds. This can advantageously contribute to faster, ergonomic troubleshooting and error handling by the user. Furthermore, canceling and/or acknowledging an alarm can also lead to a change in the illuminescence signal, e.g. a change in color or intensity.
In an advantageous and preferred embodiment of the medical system according to the present invention, the control unit is provided and adapted to illuminate, in a field of view, a part of a hose line encompassed and/or connected by the accessory, based on a marker of the detected and thus identified accessory.
In particular, in one embodiment of the present invention, the color of the illumination signal can be controlled depending on information in the medication in comparison and/or after retrieving data from the medication database. In an advantageous and preferred embodiment of the medical system according to the present invention, the control unit is provided and adapted to to store a colored illumination in the medication database depending on a medication selection and/or to color-illuminate part of a tubing line included and/or connected by the accessory in a field of view depending on a medication selection and/or to provide a colored illumination assigned to a recognized and assigned disposable article. A specific, preferably unique, illumination signal can be assigned to a medication and/or therapy type, or to another type of medication category, such as the criticality of the medication and/or therapy. In particular, a colored illumination can then be emitted based on the recognition and assignment of the disposable item, so that the unambiguous assignment is immediately apparent. Alternatively or additionally, the illumination signal can be adjusted via a user interface of the medical device.
The system according to the invention can be further developed using technical possibilities available in the prior art. In particular, the device and/or the system according to the invention can contain a communication module, which is designed, for example, as a wireless communication module, in particular a Wi-Fi module. This allows the system and/or device to be connected to networks and servers, a cloud, or the internet, and to exchange, provide, and/or store data, control signals, and parts of the medication database. Thus, a system according to the invention can be configured to operate a plurality of devices according to the invention in a coordinated and/or simultaneous manner to care for a single or multiple patients.
The invention also encompasses the provision of an illumination source at another location on the accessory article according to the invention and/or the medical device according to the invention. In particular, the illumination source can be mounted and/or connected to another device connected to the system. For example, a light source may be configured to be manually detachably connected to the tubing to provide the illumination signal only when needed. Alternatively, as described herein, the illumination source may be an integral part of the tubing and, for example, be configured as a coating of the tubing with organic light-emitting diodes or printed electrochemical energy sources.
The objects underlying the invention are achieved in a fourth aspect by a medical method for optimized operation of a medical device. The method comprises at least the following steps: a step a) of inserting or connecting an accessory into or to a medical device;<ul id="ul0001" list-style="none" compact="compact"><li>optionally, a step of recognizing an accessory based on a marker of the accessory by means of a detection unit of the medical device for detecting an accessory;</li><li>a step b) of illuminating a part of a hose line encompassed and/or connected by the accessory in a field of view.</li></ul>
Please note that the steps listed above do not necessarily need to be performed in the order listed. The steps provided can be performed in any other suitable order. However, the order listed above may apply to certain variations of the procedure. For example, the insertion or connection of an accessory into or to a medical device may occur before or after illuminating a portion of a tubing encompassed and/or connected by the accessory in a field of view. In the first case, illumination can be beneficial for confirming and orienting medical personnel; in the second case, illumination can help medical personnel to insert or connect the desired accessory into or to a medical device using the illumination.
The objects underlying the invention are achieved in a fifth aspect by a computer-readable storage medium comprising instructions which, when executed by a computer, cause the computer to carry out the method steps according to the method according to the fourth aspect.
All described embodiments of the invention have the advantage that the illumination signal provided simplifies the overview and thus the control of operating the device according to the invention and, in particular, inserting a medical accessory or the medical accessory according to the invention into the device according to the invention. The present invention, in its various aspects and embodiments, advantageously reduces the susceptibility to errors when using medical devices of the type in question by providing better overview, thus avoiding errors in patient treatment. Furthermore, the effort required to manage complex medication regimens, particularly infusion regimens, is significantly reduced.
