Improved accuracy continuous glucose monitoring method, system, and device

Abstract

A method and a system for improving the accuracy of a continuous glucose monitoring sensor by estimating a CGM signal at a time t+PH using a value of CGM at time t, using a short-time glucose prediction horizon to estimate the value of a CGM signal at a time t+PH with a noise estimation algorithm.

  1. 1
A method for improving the accuracy of a continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system comprising:obtaining CGM signal indicative of a CGM value at a time t;estimating a value of the CGM signal at a time t + PH using a noise state estimation, wherein PH is a short time prediction horizon;substituting the CGM value at time t with the estimated value of the CGM signal at time t + PH ;and using the estimated value of the CGM signal at a time t + PH as the true value of the CGM signal at time t.
  2. 2
A system (400) for improving the accuracy of a continuous glucose monitoring sensor comprising:a digital processor;a continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) sensor in communication with the digital processor (402), the CGM sensor configured to generate a glucose signal;and a denoising module (402, 404, 406, 424), configured to receive the glucose signal from the CGM sensor, and generate an improved accuracy CGM signal, by reducing calibration errors using a short-time glucose prediction horizon (PH) to estimate a value of the CGM signal, by substituting the estimated value of the CGM signal at a time t + PH for the output CGM signal at a time t;and using the estimated value of the CGM signal at a time t + PH as the true value of the CGM signal at time t.
