Secure networked respiratory therapy systems

Abstract

The present invention relates to a method of uploading therapy data generated by a respiratory therapy device to a remote server via a control device configured to communicate with the respiratory therapy device and to communicate with the remote server. The method comprises receiving, by the control device, the therapy data from the respiratory therapy device and receiving, by the control device, a nonce from the remote server. The Method further comprises sending, by the control device, the nonce to the respiratory therapy device and receiving, by the control device, a signing key from the respiratory therapy device, wherein the signing key is dependent on the nonce and a secret known to the respiratory therapy device and the remote server. Furthermore, the method comprises generating, by the control device, an authorisation code using the therapy data and the signing key, the authorisation code for authenticating the therapy data; and sending, by the control device, the therapy data and the authorisation code to the remote server.

A method of uploading therapy data generated by a respiratory therapy device to a remote server via a control device configured to communicate with the respiratory therapy device and to communicate with the remote server, the method comprising:receiving, by the control device, the therapy data from the respiratory therapy device;receiving, by the control device, a nonce from the remote server;sending, by the control device, the nonce to the respiratory therapy device;receiving, by the control device, a signing key from the respiratory therapy device, wherein the signing key is dependent on the nonce and a secret known to the respiratory therapy device and the remote server;generating, by the control device, an authorisation code using the therapy data and the signing key, the authorisation code for authenticating the therapy data;and sending, by the control device, the therapy data and the authorisation code to the remote server.
  2. 4
A computer-readable data storage medium having program instructions encoded thereon configured to when, executed by a processor of a control device, control the control device to upload therapy data generated by a respiratory therapy device to a remote server, wherein the program instructions control the control device to:receive the therapy data from the respiratory therapy device;receive a nonce from the remote server;send the nonce to the respiratory therapy device;receive a signing key from the respiratory therapy device, wherein the signing key is dependent on the nonce and a secret known to the respiratory therapy device and the remote server;generate an authorisation code using the therapy data and the signing key, the authorisation code for authenticating the therapy data;and send the therapy data and the authorisation code to the remote server, and optionally, further comprising a server (6040) that has access to the computer-readable data storage medium, wherein the server (6040) is configured to receive requests for downloading the program instructions of the computer-readable data storage medium to the control device (6010) over a network.
  3. 5
A method of authenticating therapy data generated by a respiratory therapy device, the method comprising:receiving the therapy data and a first authorisation code;computing a signing key from a nonce and a secret that is known to the respiratory therapy device;computing a second authorisation code from the received therapy data and the signing key;and authenticating the therapy data by comparing the first authorisation code with the second authorisation code.
  4. 8
A server comprising:a memory, and a processor, wherein the memory contains program instructions that, when executed by the processor, control the server to authenticate therapy data generated by a respiratory therapy device, wherein the program instructions control the server to: receive the therapy data and a first authorisation code;compute a signing key from a nonce and a secret that is known to the respiratory therapy device;compute a second authorisation code from the received therapy data and the signing key;and authenticate the therapy data by comparing the first authorisation code with the second authorisation code.
  5. 9
A networked respiratory therapy system comprising:a respiratory therapy device configured to deliver respiratory therapy to a patient;a remote server;and a control device configured to communicate with the respiratory therapy device and to communicate with the remote server, the control device being configured to: receive, by the control device, therapy data from the respiratory therapy device;receive, by the control device, a nonce from the remote server;send, by the control device, the nonce to the respiratory therapy device;receive, by the control device, a signing key from the respiratory therapy device, wherein the signing key is dependent on the nonce and a secret known to the respiratory therapy device and the remote server;generate, by the control device, an authorisation code using the therapy data and the signing key, the authorisation code for authenticating the therapy data;and send, by the control device, the therapy data and the authorisation code to the remote server.
  6. 11
A networked respiratory therapy system comprising:a respiratory therapy device configured to deliver respiratory therapy to a patient;a control device configured to communicate with the respiratory therapy device;and a remote server configured to communicate with the control device, the remote server being configured to: receive therapy data and a first authorisation code from the control device;compute a signing key from a nonce and a secret that is known to the respiratory therapy device;compute a second authorisation code from the received therapy data and the signing key;and authenticate the therapy data by comparing the first authorisation code with the second authorisation code.
  7. 13
A method of uploading therapy data generated by a respiratory therapy device to a remote server, the method comprising:receiving, by the respiratory therapy device, a nonce from the remote server;computing, by the respiratory therapy device, a signing key from the nonce and a secret known to the remote server;generating, by the respiratory therapy device, an authorisation code using the therapy data and the signing key, the authorisation code for authenticating the therapy data;and sending, by the respiratory therapy device, the therapy data and the authorisation code to the remote server.
  8. 16
