Intravascular fluid movement devices, systems, and methods of use

Abstract

An intravascular fluid movement device that includes an expandable member having a collapsed, delivery configuration and an expanded, deployed configuration, the expandable member having a proximal end and a distal end, a rotatable member disposed radially and axially within the expandable member, and a conduit coupled to the expandable member, the conduit at least partially defining a blood flow lumen between a distal end of the conduit and a proximal end of the conduit, the conduit disposed solely radially inside of the expandable member in a distal section of the expandable member.

15 claims: 7 independent, 8 dependent

  1. 1
An intravascular blood pump, comprising:an expandable member having a collapsed, delivery configuration and an expanded, deployed configuration, the expandable member having a proximal end and a distal end;an impeller including impeller blades and disposed radially and axially within the expandable member;a drive shaft coupled to the impeller and configured to drive rotation of the impeller;a conduit coupled to the expandable member, the conduit at least partially defining a blood flow lumen between a distal end of the conduit and a proximal end of the conduit;and wherein the impeller extends further proximally than the proximal end of the conduit in the deployed configuration.
  2. 3
The blood pump of claims 1 or 2, wherein the distal end of the conduit has a flared configuration.
  3. 4
The blood pump of claims 2 or 3, wherein the expandable member comprises a plurality of elongate elements that define a plurality of apertures.
  4. 5
The blood pump of any of claims 2 to 4, wherein the proximal region comprises a proximal tapered end region.
  5. 6
The blood pump according to any of the preceding claims, wherein the expandable member is configured to be self-expanding.
  6. 7
The blood pump according to any of the preceding claims, wherein the impeller is configured to revert to a deployed configuration after retraction of an outer restraint.
  7. 15
The blood pump according to any of claims 2 to 14, wherein a portion of the impeller extends into the central region of the expandable member.
